Mrs. Gladys Barrieau, wife of the late Peter Barrieau, of Douglasfield, passed away on Saturday, March 14, 2009, at her residence, at the age of 87. Born in Renous, Gladys was the daughter of the late Peter and Hannah (Donovan) Barrieau. She was a homemaker and attended St Patrick's Roman Catholic Church in Nelson. Gladys is survived by five daughters Janice (Edmund) Malley of Douglasfield, Anne (Patrick) Butler of Douglasfield, Nancy (Ken) McIntosh of Douglasfield, Pamela (Tony) Layton of Nelson, and Catherine (Paul) Hamilton of Douglasfield; five sons George (Marion) of Douglasfield, Ronald (Julianna) of Douglasfield, Peter Jr. of Douglasfield, Gerald (Barbara) of Douglasfield, and Edward (Helen) of Douglasfield; three sisters Bernadine Underhill of Renous, Marcella Donahue of Blackville, and Rita Manderville of Renous; one brother Greg Donovan of Millerton; 24 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Peter Barrieau, and two sisters Betty Hogan of Derby, and Catherine Whalen of Renous. The family received relatives and friends at Northumberland Funeral Home on Sunday, March 15, 2009 from 7 to 9, and on Monday, March 16, 2009 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. Vigil prayers were held at the funeral home, on Monday; at 2pm. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Tuesday, March 17, 2009 from St Patrick's Roman Catholic Church, at 10am, with Father Jim McQuade officiating and assisted by Father Vincent Donovan. Organist Lucille Blacquière, and Soloist Eileen Butler, lead the congregation in the singing of the hymns "Turn to Me", "Be Not Afraid", "Amazing Grace" and "Peace I Leave". Readers were Ashley Barrieau, Tammy MacTavish and Mary Anne Barrieau. Active Pallbearers were her grandsons Timmy Barrieau, Mark Butler, Andy Barrieau, Jeff McIntosh, Bradley Barrieau, and Ernie Hamilton. Honorary pallbearers were Mike Donovan, Greg Donovan, Bernie Donovan, James Trevors, Jimmy Hartery, Robert Malley, Troy Butler, Adam Barrieau, and Riley Barrieau. Burial will be in the church cemetery later in the spring. KEITH, James Allen - Jim passed away suddenly at his residence in Halifax, Nova Scotia. He was raised in Kirkland Lake and joined the Armed Forces Communication and Electronics Branch in 1982. Mrs. Jaqueline Beverley "Jackie" Wagner November 6, 1934 - March 14, 2009 74, of Dartmouth, passed away Saturday March 14, 2009 in the Dartmouth General Hospital. Born in Halifax she was the daughter of the late Edward and Margaret (Lunn) LaPierre. Jackie loved to travel with her family, especially to Old Orchard Beach in Maine where they shared many happy memories. She enjoyed bingo, yard sales, and especially shopping. Jackie was predeceased by her husband, James Joseph Wagner; son, James Edward "Joe" Wagner; brothers, Lawrence, Bob, Frank, Eddie, Gerald, Eric; sisters, Ruby, Geraldine "Honey". She will be sadly missed by her children, Lillian Rutledge, Cindy (Stephen) Cross, Robert (Heather); daughter-in-law, Christine; grandchildren, Shaun, Meghan, Nicholas, Scott, Daniel (Melissa), Amber, Ryan, Zachary, Adrianna; great-granddaughter, Lily; as well as several nieces and nephews, especially Butch who was always there for her. Cremation has taken place. Mrs. Muriel Ellen Miller March 12, 1920 - March 14, 2009 Ed Muriel Ellen Miller Muriel, formerly of Lacadena, passed away peacefully at Saskatoon City Hospital on Saturday, March 14, 2009 at the age of 89 years. Left to cherish Muriel’s memory are her sons, Glenn (Helen), Dale, Stan (Jocelyne); grandchildren, Shawn (Lori-Ann), Wendy, Tara, Sherilyn; five great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; her sister, June Hood (Stan) in Lethbridge, AB; sister-in-law, Valeria Topp in Kelowna, BC; and several nieces and one nephew. She was predeceased by her husband, Ed Miller; father, Robert Topp; mother, Ellen (Hungerford) Topp; step-father, Roy Topp; her two brothers, Leonard (Dorothy) and Lynwood; and nephew, Larry. Muriel was born and raised in Plato, SK. She attended Normal School in Regina and taught in rural Saskatchewan. She met Ed at Clytha and they were married at her family home in June 1943. Muriel and Ed farmed in the Lacadena area for 29 years. Muriel’s retirement years were spent in Saskatoon. Muriel will always be remembered for her love of music, dancing, playing bridge, and her needlework. Muriel was very musical and loved to entertain her friends and her UCW ladies. She was a superb cook and hostess. She volunteered with the Association of Community Living. Muriel was an elegant lady and will be deeply missed. Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 20, 2009 at Bethel United Church, 1141 – 5th Street East, Saskatoon, SK, officiated by Rev. Norm Laird.
