FORGIE, Maynard Passed away peacefully in hospital, Smiths Falls on Wednesday, March 11, 2009 at the age of 79. Proud father of Barbara (the late Bryan) Burchill, Ruth Comeau, Doreen (Cameron) Willis, Jane (Stephen) Latimer, Wendy (Gary) Boal and Darryl Forgie. Maynard was predeceased by his parents James and Alice (McFadden). He will be fondly remembered by his 12 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren, and many extended family and friends. There will be a private graveside service taking place at a later date. For those who wish, memorial contributions may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. BIANCO, Philip Dominic Passed away peacefully at the Perley Rideau Veteran's Home on March 3, 2009 just shy of his 92nd birthday. Phil, born in Ottawa on April 11, 1917 leaves behind his beloved wife of 64 years, Mary (nee Gazzola) and three daughters, Elena Randall (Stephen) Linda Craig (Stephen) and Angela Rivet (Stephane). He will be missed by his family, friends, grandsons, Christopher and Philip Randall, Matthew and David Craig, Gabriele Rivet and nephew, Joe Bianco Jr. Philip was pre deceased by his son Dominic (1995) and his brother, Joe (2008). Phil a WWII Army Veteran was married and worked at Agriculture Canada for 35 years, prior to his retirement. Phil enjoyed his golden years, travelling, fishing, hunting and generally communing with nature. He maintained his garden with help from Linda and Elena until his 90th birthday. Join us in a celebration of his life at the Perley in Lupton Hall, 1750 Russell Road, April 4, 2009 at 11:00 AM. Loving mother of Kathryn Henry (Glen) of Owen Sound, Lorraine Magalhaes, Linda and Barbara. Cherished grandmother of David and Michael Henry, Gregory, Bradley and Kristina Magalhaes. Sister of John, Bill, Gerry, David and Frances Stewart. Predeceased by her parents Nora and William and sisters Doris Roche and Helen Newman. She enjoyed her art work, playing piano, gardening, her cats and engaging with students at the dance school. GREEN, Dr. Gerald Robert March 16, 1930 - March 7, 2009 It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our Dad in hospital, Herbert, Saskatchewan on March 7, 2009, in his 79th year. OBITUARY ADAMO FAVASOLI 1929-2009 In Montreal on March 11, 2009 at the age of seventy-nine, Adamo Favasoli, suddenly and peacefully. Predeceased by his wife Sonya. He leaves behind his children: Marco (Heather), Timothy, Leonardo (Lidia) and Cara (Flavio). Proud grandfather of Antonio, Sonya, Luca, Massimo, Raisa, Alessandro and Flavio Adamo. ROMANESE, Bruno January 26, 1931 - March 12, 2009 It is with great sadness that the family of Bruno Romanese announces his passing on Thursday, March 12, 2009 at the age of seventy-eight years. Born in Friuli, Italy, he left his hometown at the age of seventeen in search of a better life. From Switzerland to Ottawa and finally to Montreal, he met his wife of fifty-three years, Angelina Lepore. Together they had six children: Gino (Anna), Doris (John), Valentina (Tony), Valentino (deceased August 25, 1965), Lucia (Ed) and Lisa (Nick). He also leaves to mourn his only surviving sister Fausta (Renzo), his eight grandchildren: Marisa (Giovanni), Michael, Tanya, Anthony, Alexa, Robert, Sophia, Jenna and one soon to be great-grandchild, as well as many friends and relatives. LEMECHA, Allan Allan Lemecha passed away peacefully at the Foothills Hospital on Wednesday, March 11, 2009 at the age of 41 years. Allan is lovingly survived by his life partner Debbie Gibson; parents Marie and Steve Lemecha; sisters Gail Robertson, Judy Lemecha, and Kathy Brown; and also by his brothers Jim Lewis, Wayne Lewis, Reno Lewis and their spouses. He also has many nieces and nephews who will miss him. He was predeceased by his Uncle Larry, his grandparents, his brother Melvin Lewis, and sister Louise Lewis. Allan had a love of running, skiing, helicopters and airplanes. Allan was especially proud to have worked on helicopters. He loved to meet people and strangers would become friends almost immediately. Allan will be remembered for his smile and his love of running. DYCE, Viola Mae 2009-03-17 Mrs. Viola Mae Dyce, age 77 years, passed away peacefully on March 13, 2009. Viola was born in Port Arthur on October 1, 1931 to Arthur and Wilma Egeberg and was a long time resident of Thunder Bay. She truly enjoyed spending time with her family and was a devout Christian. Viola was interested in poetry, politics, gardening, puzzles and her beloved Toronto Blue Jays. She worked as bookkeeper for Eaton’s, Porter’s, the Iron Workers Union and the C.N.R. before working as a sales associate at Mannequin’s. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband George, daughter Linda (Jim) Johnston, son Jamie (Kim), grandchildren Dawn (Bruce) Kadolph, Karen (Dan) Paradis, Colleen Johnston, and Kassi, Kinley and Jayden Dyce; great grandchildren: Brandon and Britney Kadolph and Olivia Paradis and sister Helen (Lloyd) Warren. She was predeceased by her parents. Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of the Life of Mrs. Viola Dyce will be held on Thursday, March 19, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. in the Sargent & Son Funeral Chapel, 21 N. LINDENHOFF, Daisy 2009-03-17 Ms. Daisy Beatrice Lindenhoff (nee Delyea), age 81 years passed away peacefully with family by her side on Friday, March 13, 2009 at St. Joseph’s Care Group - Lakehead Psychiatric Hospital. Daisy was born on January 21, 1928 in fort William and was raised and educated there. She worked in Pediatrics at McKellar Hospital. She loved her family and friends and enjoyed the time she spent with them. She is survived by sisters Evelyn Ottley and Beverley Martyn (Norman); brothers Fred (Lena), Bill (Ellen), Alfred and Wayne; sons Charles and his family and Peter (Ana) and granddaughters Allie and Sara. Many nieces,nephews and other relatives also survive. STEWART, Richard Weston - Born Dec.12, 1942 went home to heaven from a sudden heart attack on March 5th, 2009 in Dade City Florida. He left us while laughing, loving and enjoying life. He was the treasured and beloved husband of Bernice (Bryson) of Cartier. With whom he shared great love, joy and pride of four little girls, who grew to become loving, caring and compassionate women. Lori (Jean) Deschamps of Dowling, Billie-Jo Stewart (Don) of Sudbury, Sherrie (Yvon) Landriault of Dowling, Kim Keir (Jon) of Onaping. He was a selfless and dedicated father and loving son-in-law to Lily Zolner of Dade City, Florida. The joy and delight of his heart was his grandchildren. They filled his life with pure love. Justin (Krista), Silvie (Pat), Renee, Olivia, Emma, Montgomery (David), Grace (Tim) and baby Eddie. They will treasure his humour. He was the son of James and Florence Stewart (Calumet Island Que.) pre-deceased. His brothers and sisters dearly loved him. Denzil (Debbie) Stewart, Bobby Stewart both pre- deceased, Joyce Stewart (Keith) of Ottawa, James (Anna) Stewart of Bryson, Que., Melvin (Monique) Stewart of Matagami, Que., Diane Stewart of Ottawa and Allan Stewart of Calumet Island. Dora Katherine Close, wife of Isaac Close, of Miramichi passed away Tuesday, March 3rd, 2009, at the Miramichi Regional Hospital at the age of 67. Born in Newcastle she was the daughter of the late John Manderville and Doris (Donovan) Manderville. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Bridget's Roman Catholic Church, Renous, NB. Besides her husband Dora is survived by: one daughter; Arlene (Daniel) Boisvert of Barnaby River, one son; Isaac (Sonny) (Kristen) of Miramichi, two sisters; Anne (Stephen) Dawson of Renous, Bernice Gillespie of Renous, seven brothers; Gary, David, Duncan, Bernard, Johnny, Burtis, Ricky, three grand children; Jacob, Joshua Boisvert and Spenser Close and one special friend Tyanne. Besides her parents she was predeceased by one daughter, Victoria, one brother, Carman Manderville and one granddaughter, Katrina. Mrs. Dora Close rested at Davidson's Funeral Home, 597 Old King George Hwy., Miramichi, with visitation held Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. RYDYGIER, Ryszard Henryk (Richard) - Born in Pabianice, Poland on December 27, 1917. Richard passed away at the St. Catharines General Hospital on Thursday March 12, 2009, in his 92nd year. After a long life well lived through the worst of times and the best of times. Richard was the very dearly loved husband of Joyce (nee Lee) for 58 years. Loving father of David Ryszard of Toronto and Janet Maria Campbell. Loved Poppa of Jason (Cindy) Campbell and Lee (Jason) MacLean and great grandfather of Emily and Jeremy. Survived by his sister-in- law Ida Greenwood and her children Robert and Ann in England. Predeceased by his parents and three brothers in Poland. Richard worked for nine months on the “Avro Arrow“ project in Toronto then at TRW in St. Catharines for 25 years, retiring in 1982. Richard was a dedicated and Past President of Polish Branch 418 of the R.C.L. Also a member of the 1st Polish Armoured Division Association, Toronto, and the Virtuti Militara Order Club, Warsaw, Poland. He was a life member of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME). WHITE, Norman Bruce August 12, 1931 - March 8, 2009 Norm White, loving and generous husband, dad, Papa, uncle and friend, passed away on March 8, 2009 surrounded by his family. He will lovingly be remembered by his wife of forty-seven years, Mary, and by his daughters Lori (Derek) Wilson, Sandi (Dan) Morley and Karen (Monte) Sumner; grandchildren Cris and Vicki Morley and Ally and Jackson Sumner; many nieces and nephews and a large extended family. Born on August 12, 1931 in Calgary, Alberta. Norm graduated from Western Canada High School in 1951 and from the University of Idaho in 1958 with a Bachelor of Science degree in geology. He worked as a geologist in the Alberta oil industry for thirty-three years, retiring in 1990. Norm was an avid sportsman and enjoyed basketball, baseball, fishing, swimming and curling. Norm and his family were members of the Calgary Winter Club for many years. In his retirement, he was actively involved in Calgary Senior Mens Slo Pitch and was instrumental in helping the organization grow from one team to its current seventeen teams. Norm also assisted with organizing and running the annual Diamond Bonspiel at the Calgary Winter Club. He made numerous lifelong friends through his involvement with curling and slo pitch. Over the last several years he particularly enjoyed his Friday morning "coffee time" at the mall with his friends and the monthly Amoco luncheons with former work colleagues. Norm and Mary liked to travel and visited many places with his favorite being Australia. Norm was a proud man who was respected by friends and family but he was most proud of his family and his accomplishments. Norm's family would like to thank Dr. J. Mellor, Dr. D. Ramsay, Home Care (especially Lauraine and Arlene) and the caregivers at the Chinook Hospice. Harold Colby Underhill (Zip) of Wakefield August 10, 1948 - January 16, 2009 died at the Upper River Valley Hospital at the age of 60. Harold passed away peacefully with his loving family beside him after a six month battle with cancer. Born in Woodstock the son of the late Miles and Martha (Stoddard) Underhill. Harold is survived by his loving wife of 40 years Barbara (Giberson) of Wakefield, one son Brent Underhill and his wife Patricia of Grafton, and two grandsons, his pride and joy, James and Michael Underhill of Grafton. four sisters Elva Schriver of Woodstock; Eunice (Hector) McKinnon Moncton; Ruth (Keith) Manterfield of Wakefield; Elizabeth (Aubrey) Giberson, of Ashland; five brothers Clair (Mary) Underhill of Wakefield; Roy (Carla) Underhill Prince Albert, SK ; Dale (Janice) Underhill of Fosterville; Mark (Lorna) Underhill of North Winslow, PEI; Larry (Judy) Underhill of Jacksonville, several Nieces, Nephews and Cousins. Besides his parents, Harold was predeceased by a brother, Edward. Harold began his trucking career in 1973 driving for the late Walter Gray, a broker for Day and Ross. In 1993, Harold started driving for Brennan Farms where he was employed at the time of his illness. Harold enjoyed fishing and hunting especially the last few years with his son and grandsons, he also enjoyed growing giant sunflowers, gardening and mowing his weed free lawn. The funeral service was held at the Wesleyan Church in Somerville on Wednesday January 21, 2009 at 2:00 with Pastor Mel Norton officiating and Rev. Chris Hayes assisting. A favorite music selection "I Saw The Light" that Harold always said he wanted sung at his funeral was sung by Wayne Page, nephew Jedediah Giberson sung "Sweet Bye and Bye" and a third selection "Supper Time" was rendered by a good friend John Cahill. The prelude and postlude were rendered by Leonard Orser. A touching eulogy was given by niece Laurie Anderson; Laurie also read an e-mail from nephew Doug Patterson who was unable to be here as he is in Taiwan teaching English. Rob Brennan also gave a wonderful tribute to Harold. Pallbearers: Friends, Duane Petley, Dennis Finnamore, Peter Carpenter, Nephews Justin Giberson, Chad Shaw and Hank Giberson. Funeral Arrangements were entrusted to Britton Funeral Home. Interment at a later date will be in the Wakefield Cemetery. The many floral tributes, donations and people who came through the line at the funeral home was a testament to the amount of people who knew, loved, and will miss Harold. PETER, Nora Ilona (Nori) - Peacefully at Peterborough Regional Health Centre on Wednesday, March 11, 2009 in her 74th year. Pre-deceased by her parents and 2 brothers. Survived by nieces and nephews in Hungary. Nori Peter was born in Budapest, Hungary on July 23, 1935. She had a natural talent to draw since she was three years old. Encouraged by her father, who kept track of her early work, she attended Fine Art School for 4 years until she was old enough to attend The Hungarian Academy of Fine Art in Budapest. Here she studied under some of Hungary's great painters till the Revolution in 1956 when she emigrated with her mother to Canada with only $10.00 between them. In order to survive in Canada, Nori started to paint portraits and opened a gallery in Toronto where she met many of her patrons and collectors. She painted portraits for the first six years of her 17 years in Toronto. She continued to paint portraits if commissioned, Nori claims to have painted over 600 portraits. Sometime in 1965 she was invited to see Canada's north by a Doctor and his wife. It was then that she started to paint the Inuit people and her sensitive romantic portrayals of these, especially the children, gained her a reputation enough to be asked by Eaton's College Street Art Gallery in Toronto to display her paintings. This relationship lasted till the gallery closed a few years later. Nori returned to Inuit settlements across the north several times. She learned that most Canadian souvenirs were made outside the country so while still in Toronto Nori produced a series of ceramic figurines of the Inuit people. Later she worked on many porcelain figurines and bronze castings of children. Her images were noticed by Kaiser Porcelain, The Bradford Exchange and Anna Peranna. These companies produced tens of thousands of wall plates bearing Nori's work. At one time she worked in stain glass and her work appears on placemats, coffee mugs, and post cards. She was very proud of the work she has done for several churches in Ontario where ceramic Sculptures, murals and paintings adorn the walls. Nori met the Whetungs' who now operate a large gallery in Curve Lake, Ontario, not far from Peterborough, in the early 1960's. She was encouraged by them to display her work at the Curve Lake Gallery. She moved to Curve Lake to live after her 17 years in Toronto. She has also lived in Lakefield, Emerald Isle, and Buckhorn Lake, Ennismore where her studio was located and where she resided until her passing. She enjoyed the Peterborough and Kawartha Lakes area. Nori has had a 30 year relationship with the Koyman Gallery in Ottawa and the Klimantiris Gallery in Montreal. She also has displayed pieces at the 737 Gallery near Tweed, Ontario. She has worked in several mediums and claimed that she has painted thousands of oil paintings which she liked to do best. Many of these paintings are still located in homes in the Peterborough area. From her work there have been several print editions published. She supported many organizations with donations of her work over the years. She was also very fond of animals and birds especially husky dogs which she sometimes has painted in her pictures. Her work is represented in several corporation collections. She is in the University of Calgary Gallery, The Edmonton Art Gallery, The Provincial Art Gallery of Newfoundland, Labrador, and the National Gallery of Canada. BRZOZOWSKI, Mieczyslaw “Mike“ - After a full and happy life, Mike passed away at home on March 12, 2009 at the age of 85 years. Born September 6, 1923 in Pludy, Poland, Mike was the beloved husband for 62 years of Gertrud (Trudy). He was the much loved father of Vera (Joe Baran), Jurgen (Paulette), Sig (Peg) and Anita (Ron Greer). Mike was also the very proud Dzadza of Martin (Tonya) Bigeau, Kurt (Sylvie) Bigeau, Heidi (Joey) Garito, Karen (Wayne) Bertrand, Kathryn (Eric) Bergeron, Andrea Brzozowski, Marna (Lino) Durante, Cory (Meaghan Fuller) Brzozowski, Jennifer (Gundars) Roze, Michael Brzozowski, Kim (Eric) Kasunic and Chris (Lisa) Greer. He was also the very proud great-grandfather of James, Dylan, Austin and Alexandre Bigeau, Dante Garito, Zander Bertrand, Nicholas Durante and Cohen and Amelia Fuller-Brzozowski. Mike also leaves to mourn him, his sister-in-law and brother- in-law, Friede and Rudi Grigat in Pegnitz, Germany, as well as their nephews, Dietmar and Bernd Grigat and their families. Pre- deceased by his parents and siblings in Poland. Mike immigrated to Canada in 1951 and worked for 34 years for the Paymaster, Hollinger and Texas Gulf Mines until his retirement in 1984. Mike, along with his wife Trudy, were past members of the Polish White Eagle Society. His passions were his family, his garden and his flowers; he loved to watch them grow. He will be missed. The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to Jennifer, Natalie and Lynn for their wonderful care and compassion. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 14, 2009 from the Miron-Wilson Funeral Chapel (Fr. Mitch Sliwa officiating).
