KNOBEL, Dorothy Mae (nee Dunham) - Passed away peacefully at the Port Colborne General Hospital on Sunday March 8, 2009 in her 85th year. “Dot“ was predeceased by her husband Roy (1994), her daughter Susan (2006), her grandson Brian (2009) and her son-in-law Alan Gulas (2007). Dorothy is survived by her sons Dave (Marilyn) and Roy (Cheryl), her grandchildren Eric (Kate), Aaron, Kimberly, Brandon, Laura Gulas and her great grandchild Austyn, loving sister of Rosanne (Larry) Richardson. She will be fondly remembered by several nieces and nephews. Respecting Dorothy's wishes, a private family service will be held with burial in Oakwood Cemetery. A contribution to a charity of one's choice would be appreciated by the family. Mr. Helmut Kurt Schmitz October 14, 1935 - March 5, 2009 Passed away peacefully at Huronia District Hospital, Midland on Thursday March 5th, 2009, in his 74th year. Helmut Schmitz of Midland beloved husband of Margaret (Peggy) McNaney. Dear father of James Schmitz, Colin Metcalfe and his wife Lorie and Steven Metcalfe and his wife Nancy. Loving Opa of Natalie, Jessie, Jeffrey, David and Marcia. Son of the late Oswald and Helene Schmitz. Mr. Terry Edward Ross September 14, 1947 - March 5, 2009 Terry Edward Ross September 14, 1947 – March 5, 2009 It is with great sadness that we the family announces the passing of Terry Edward Ross the beloved son of Mrs. Elizabeth Ross and the late Mel Ross. Brother to Cheryl (Lloyd) Fitzpatrick, Wendy Bezaire, Bonnie Ross (Barry), Kevin Ross; father to Shawn (Mandy) Ross, Heather (Ryan) McIntosh; uncle to Tracey (Brad) Owen, Colin (Jodi) Chamberlain, JJ Bezaire, Kadin, and William; special friend to Irene Whitehat and Cliff Tedrick. Terry was born in Saskatoon at City Hospital. He attended grade school in Elrose and Dundurn and attended Mount Royal Collegiate in Saskatoon. Terry was a loving father to his kids and family. Terry enjoyed water skiing and playing chess. He had a quick dry wit and a twinkle in his eye whenever he thought he had one over on you. Terry worked at various jobs in his lifetime. He was a “handyman” just like his dad. When anyone needed help with a carpentry job or electrical problem, he didn’t hesitate to lend a hand. He was mechanically inclined and especially happy working on his Harley Davidson. The family would like to say thank you to the wonderful care he received at RUH during his stay, especially the IC and the 6100 Unit for their caring and compassion during this difficult time. At his request there will be no funeral service, interment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Saskatchewan. Mr Raman Kolluru July 15, 1932 - March 5, 2009 Kolluru, Venkataraman (Raman) Retired Professor of Law Raman passed away in his 76th year, on Thursday, March 5th, 2009 at Kingston General Hospital. Beloved husband of Jaya and loving father to Gita and Bob. Brother to Somewswari Vedula and Krishnan Kolluru. Raman will be deeply missed by his many friends in the Kingston Canadian-Indian community, extended family in India, and friends and colleagues at Queen’s University. Raman had an enduring passion for politics, and always enjoyed a spirited discussion about international law and global events. He was proud to have attended several universities in India, Canada and the United States, including Yale and Stanford, and worked at the United Nations before pursuing a distinguished career as a Professor of Law at Queen’s University. Raman edited and authored several books, including "The Ways of the Peacemaker" and "Dispute Settlement Through the United Nations". Friends and family will be received at the Gordon F. Angela was born the third oldest of 15 children of Anton and Mary Kornaga in Gooding, Saskatchewan on April 10, 1914; survived by Susan Fox, John Kornaga and Irene Bechal. Angela prayed deeply, loved company, laughed hard and especially since Dad's passing was known for her expressive looks and simple statements. Angela worked at The Prince Edward Hotel and The Windsor Club. Survived by Judy, his loving wife of 41 years. Loving father of Mark (Jodi) and cherished Grandpa of Bradley and step-grandfather of Denney and Travis. Brother of Dyke (Marilyn) and a dear uncle to many nieces and nephews. Brother-in-law of Dorothy and Judd Bedford, Kathy and Don Pierson, and Jim and Barbara Luscombe. Brad was an outdoorsman, naturalist, and was happiest when at his cottage on Papineau Lake with family and friends. YOUNG, Dolores “Dolly“ (nee Burdett) - Passed on peacefully at Central Care Home on March 5, 2009. Born in 1921 in Owen, Sound Ontario. She was predeceased by her husband Wilson in 1975; and brother Philip Burdett. Dolores is survived by five daughters - Yvonne, Leola, Sheila, Anita and Katherine; Son-in-laws Fran and Joe; grandchildren Lorie, Daniel, Mark and Sarah; great grandchildren Jessica and Jeffrey; and sister Joyce Roberts. During her life Dolores enjoyed reading the Bible, attending Church, cooking and baking, sewing for her girls, walking, painting landscapes, and frequenting tearooms. She retired to glorious Victoria in 1985. We will miss her gentle spirit, her heart laugh and beautiful smile but are consoled that she is finally with her Savior. Beulah V. Branscombe, of Florenceville, NB passed away on January 6th, 2009 at the Upper River Valley Hospital, Waterville, NB at the age of 92. Beulah was a resident at Ruth Anna's Ladies Care Home, Hartland for the past two years. She was the daughter of the late James and Mae (Banford) Ellis of Carlisle, NB. She was born on March 13th, 1916. Beulah is survived by four daughters, Lois Ross, Winnipeg, MB, Maxine (Robert) Bradstreet, Bristol, NB, Joyce (Lynn) Foster, Monticello, ME and Sharon Branscombe, Nackawic, NB. Also, eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Eulah Ellis; as well as nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents; her husband, Oliver; two grandchildren, Corrine and Christopher; and brother, Kenneth. Funeral service was held January 9th, 2009 at 2pm at Kilcollins Chapel, Florenceville, NB, officiated by Reverand Mark Thompson. Carol Stephenson sang "I Call It Home", with two congregational songs- "Amazing Grace" and "Great Is Thy Faithfulness". Organist was Keith McIntosh. The eulogy was given by her granddaughter, Lisa Wilson. Pallbearers were Dale and Lloyd Adams, Paul Demerchant, Ted Lamont, Delbert Lloyd and Dean Stephenson. Lorraine worked as a sales clerk. She also was a nanny to her two nieces , Mary and Emma. The last years of Lorraine's life was spent caring for the elderly. PEPE, Alfred Nicholas - Peacefully at Gateway Haven in Wiarton, Ontario on Sunday, March 8, 2009 in his 84th year. Son of the late Alfredo (Fred) and Lucy (Minicola) Pepe of Peterborough. Survived by brother Michele Pepe of Port Elgin, Mary (Pepe) Primeau of Belleville. Predeceased by sister, Matilda (Pepe) Harris (Al); sister- in-law Olga; brother-in-law Jake. Alfred would spend weekends in Peterborough working with his parents in the family store at 519 (Elm) Hopkins Street. After WWII, he was employed for 39 1/2 years at A.V. Roe (Orenda Division, Malton) until 1990. Alfred was a proud Union activist with the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers. Alf was also active with DL717, DL78, past president of LL717T & Retirees Club. Alfred was an avid fisherman throughout his life. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Peterborough Branch 52. Roger C. Tremblay - À l’hôpital, le vendredi 27 février 2009, à l’âge de 71 ans et huit mois, est décédé Roger C. Tremblay, domicilié à Oakville, mais anciennement de Bathurst. Né le 7 juin 1937 à Bathurst, il était l’aîné de feu Télesphore Tremblay et Mary (Picot) Tremblay. Il laisse dans le deuil deux filles: Sophie (Richard Iaboni) de Phelpston et Sarah (Will Nahr) de Stouffville, Ont.; deux soeurs: Anatolie (feu Rodney DeGrace) de Bathurst et Anne Marie (Eugene Wood) de Fredericton; un frère, Pierre (Suzanne Arseneau) de Bathurst, ainsi que trois petits-enfants: Brianna, Alexander et Nicholas. Deux frères: Claude et Paul, l’ont précédé dans la tombe. M. Tremblay, après avoir complété son secondaire, a travaillé au bureau de dosage de la mine, à Bathurst, et ce, jusqu’à sa fermeture, en 1957, pour par la suite se rendre à Elliot Lake, en Ontario. Suivant la fermeture de ce chantier, il a entrepris une carrière dans l’industrie des produits adhésifs, principalement en Ontario et au Québec. Un service funèbre a eu lieu à la chapelle de Glen Oaks, le mercredi 4 mars, célébré par le révérend père Louis Lenssen. Un service commémoratif aura lieu à Bathurst, au début juin. THOMPSON, Master Cyress Montana 2009-03-10 Master Cyress Montana Thompson, age 5 years, passed away in the Nipigon District Memorial Hospital on Monday, March 9, 2009. He was a blessing to this earth and shined his light on whomever he met. A gift so precious that it can never last long, just be received with graciousness and gratitude in knowing there is something more. GAUTHIER, Dustin Shane - The family announces with great sorrow the passing of Dustin Shane Gauthier on Sunday, March 8th, 2009, resulting from a car accident on February 21st, 2009. Dusty was in his 25th year. He will be sadly missed by his Mom Tina Chapman (Brodie), Dad Shane Gauthier (Lorna Chamberlain) and caring brothers, Cody Gauthier, Matt and Jordan Chapman. Always remembered by Gramma Myrn and Papa Don Grimster, Gramma Elma Chapman, Uncle Donny and Aunt Louise Grimster and his very special friend, Valerie Beaupre, along with many great aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Dusty was employed with Ontario Northland as a Carman Apprentice. When not working, he enjoyed life to the fullest, whether it was wood working, fishing, sledding, or just enjoying nature at its best. A celebration of Dusty's life will be held at HILLSIDE FUNERAL SERVICES, 362 Airport Road, from 2 - 4 p.m. and 7 - 9 p.m. on Wednesday March 11, 2009. GILL-NIVEN, Gisele - Sunday, March 8, 2009 at the Welland General Hospital, Gisele Martha Marie Gill-Niven, age 77, joined her loved ones in God's arms, after a valiant few years of battling health challenges. Gisele was predeceased by her first husband, Victor Gill in 1983, and her second husband, Ralph Niven in 2007. Born into the Gagne family, of Pointe aux Chenes Quebec, Gisele is also predeceased by siblings: Roger, Cecile, Claude, Aline, and Laura, and is survived by two beloved sisters, Desneiges (Repentigny) and Lillian (Niagara Falls). Gisele will be missed by her immediate families: Son Larry Gill of Burlington, and his wife Kim and their children Michelle and Kyle and Michelle's partner Andrew; Son John Gill of Niagara Falls, and Burlington, daughter in law Diane Wilson and their children Carling (in heaven), Colton and Jarrett; Stepson Lloyd Niven, his wife Pat of Niagara Falls and their children Dennis of Grand Prairie and his son Jeremy, Danny of Niagara Falls, his wife Tracey and their son Jack, Stepson Doug Niven, his wife Cathie, and their children Andrew, Kevin and Graeme all of Niagara Falls, Stepson Ray Niven, his wife Carrie and their children Tanner and Hayley all of Niagara Falls, Stepson Jeff Niven and his wife Verna of Grand Prairie, and children Brandon and Taylor.
