Creating the silicone swim cap, anti-fog coating, innovative goggle materials and designs and a technical knowledge that was unsurpassed. In recent years, your contribution to award winning eyewear designs proved to be your greatest achievement because you did it with your son. You were the most loved "Boss" - treating everyone with respect and honesty. Your office today remains untouched with Bono at your door. You proved age was merely a number. You taught us life was a gift and to live every moment. And you did. You showed forgiveness to those who hurt you. You treasured your friendships and your time on the golf course. Always a kid at heart. Most of all, you taught us, family comes first. You were a devoted brother to Tid (Caroline) and a thoughtful uncle and brother-in-law who always took the time to call or send a funny card. To Mike and Marie-Eve, you were the most entertaining and loving father-in-law who loved to share a glass of red wine. For fifty-six years, you were mom's confidante, friend, and the most adventurous, handsome, and fun-loving husband. Your humour and strength is sadly missed. Your pride and joy were your grandsons Carson and Braeden. You gave them all your time, devotion and love. You made memories with them they will treasure a lifetime. You were their "papa". Their love for you can never be matched or replaced. It was pure and deep. You gave Brent unconditional love, a sense of purpose, a shoulder for support and the wings to fly on his own. You gave me everything a daughter could wish for from her dad. Unwavering love, the confidence to dream, and the comfort in knowing you would always be there for me. W.H. Soper McPhee At the Queen Elizabeth Hospital on Saturday, February 28, 2009, of Soper McPhee of Stratford and formerly of Alexandra, age 77 years. Soper will be fondly remembered by his sisters, Lillian Valentine and Beryl Vignale; his nephew, Rick (Debra) Steevens and cousins, Edna (Reg) McCarvell, June (George) Scantlebury, Marilyn (Robert) Lehmann, Deanna Robertson, Carol (Dave) McGibbon and his many friends in Alexandra and area. Soper’s wish was to be cremated. No visitation by request. Interment will follow at a later date. Mrs. Olive Jean Burton September 9, 1916 - February 20, 2009 Olive Jean Burton (Nee Hodgson) Olive Jean born September 9, 1916 passed away peacefully on February 20, 2009 at St. Paul’s Hospital Palliative Care at the age of 92 years. Olive was predeceased by her husband, Jim Burton; parents, George and Lottie Hodgson; sisters, Irene (Wood), Helen Hodgson; and brother, William (Bill) Hodgson. Olive grew up in Vanscoy, SK district. She married Jim Burton from Kindersley, SK on August 17, 1940. They farmed in the Vanscoy area from 1940 to 1952 when they moved to Pleasant Valley in the Melfort district. They farmed until 1972 when they sold the farm and moved to Melfort, then Beatty and then to Saskatoon. Olive was involved in the United Church Women’s and the Pleasant Valley Community. Olive loved most of all her family, gardening and playing the piano. Olive is survived by her five children, Connie (Marton) Murphy of Calgary, AB, Kay (Jim) Haslett of Calgary, AB; Spencer (Linda) Burton of Regina, SK, Pat (John) Bardahl of Swift Current, SK, and Betty Burton of Regina, SK; six grandchildren, James (Tannis) Burton, Talleen (Paul) Fisher, Lauren (Brad) Carlson, Jennifer (Ed) Wirun, Kelly and Heather Bardahl; and five great grandchildren, Tyson and Cole Wirun, twins, Kyrie and Hailey Burton and Cole Carlson. Olive’s family would like to thank the staff at Cedar Gardens Personal Care Home, staff at St. Paul’s Hospital Palliative Care and especially staff and friends at Luther Heights for all the care and compassion. Born August 9, 1920, Margaret was a daughter of the late Thomas and Janet (MacNeil) Gallivan. She is survived by daughters, Beverley A. Kyle, Lower Sackville; Dawna E. Brown, Dartmouth; son, Garry E. Brown (Constance Hughes), Lower Sackville; granddaughter, Elizabeth A. Kyle (Anthony Sanderson), Dartmouth; sister, Charlotte (William Gillately), British Columbia. She will be missed by furry friends, Bella, Mr. Dewey and Clancy. She joined the Canadian Women’s Army Corp and did admin work for the pipe band both in Canada, Scotland, England, Belgium, France and Holland. After the war Olive returned to Eldersley and married Melvin. In 1948 they settled in Prince Albert, where they raised their family. They retired and moved to Candle Lake in 1980. Loving poppie to Debbie (John) Maheu, Cathy (Kevin) McCabe, Darryl (Shannon) Gow, Denzil (Inga) Gow and great-grandpa to Tasha and Tanya Maheu, Douglas and Julia McCabe, Steven and Samantha Gow, Erika and Rowan Gow. Doug was predeceased by sisters Maud McMillan, Blanch Gallinger, Gladys Gow, brothers James, William, George, Mahlon, Stanley, Duane, and an infant sister. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. HAMER, Michael Stuart Born August 15, 1944 in Guildford, UK. Peacefully passed away in Brunswick, Maine, USA on February 25, 2009 after a brief battle with cancer, bravely borne. Mourning him are daughters, Emily, Zaria, and Rebecca Hamer, wife and closest friend Judith Hamer, stepdaughters, Jennifer Ramos, Christine Kendal-Ward, Jaimie Kendal-Ward, first wife Susannah Cameron Crichon, family in the UK and USA, colleagues associated with the Maine State Museum, and friends worldwide. HERMES, Henry Carl 2009-03-17 It is with great sadness and sorrow, that we announce the passing of Henry Carl Hermes, of Terrace Bay. Henry passed away peacefully at the McCausland Hospital in his 85th year. Henry was born in Visbek Germany and immigrated to Canada in 1951. He was first employed with Great Lakes Pulp and Paper Co. in Thunder Bay and later relocated, with his wife Maria, to Terrace Bay in 1953. He was employed by Kimberly Clark for 35 years until his retirement in 1987. Henry‘s favourite past time was activities and enjoyment at their camp on Santoy Lake. He truly enjoyed the outdoor activities of hunting, fishing, trapping and Santoy Lake gardening. His family get- together at camp was his favourite summer time highlight, as well as the annual fall moose hunting trips with his sons. Henry is survived by his wife Maria, married for 56 years, and 5 children; Werner Hermes, Veronica Simmer (Butch MacDonald), Maria Lapenskie (Robert Sirard), Helga MacKenzie (John), George Hermes (Daphne Arthurson). He will also be dearly missed by his grandchildren Steven and Matthew Hermes, Ryan and Jennifer Simmer, Kris and Kyle Lapenskie, Carman and Airen MacKenzie, Jaime and Kristy Hermes and Drae Arthurson. Visitation will be held at St. Martin of Tours Roman Catholic Church in Terrace Bay on Wednesday March 18th 2009 between 7:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. with prayers beginning at 7:30. A Resurrection Mass will take place on Thursday, March 19th beginning at 11:00 a.m. also at St. Martin of Tours. Interment will follow at Terrace Bay Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to the King Funeral Home of Schreiber. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the McCausland Hospital Long Term Care would be appreciated.

Vincent Doiron Peacefully at his late residence on Friday, February 27, 2009, of Mr. Vincent D. Doiron of Canoe Cove, age 82 years. Beloved husband of 41 years of Ann (nee Finck) Doiron and dear father of Denise Doiron (Jim Ross), Charlottetown, and Deon Doiron, Milton, Ont. He is also survived by two loving grandchildren, Devon and Danielle, both of Milton, Ont.; his sister, Bernice Galbraith-White, Dartmouth, N.S., and his brother, Leo (Bernadette) Doiron, Peterborough, Ont. Predeceased by his parents, Dolph and Josie (Dowling) Doiron and brothers, Elmer “Mickey’’ and Lorne Doiron. Resting at the Cutcliffe Funeral Home where the funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Wednesday at 11 a.m. Interment later in the Roman Catholic Cemetery, Charlottetown. Theodora Lamberta Theresa "Dora'' Vloet Peacefully at the Palliative Care Unit, Prince Edward Home on Saturday, February 28, 2009 of Mrs. Dora (nee Teunissen) Vloet of Union Road, age 80 years. Beloved wife of Peter Vloet and dear mother of Gerry (Mae), Margaret (Bob) Morrison, Evelyn (Ron) MacIntyre, Wayne (Edna), Harry (Ann Marie), Darlene (Dave) Pouliot, Jackie (Dave) Koughan and Michele (Bob) Miller. Predeceased by son, Eugene. She is also survived by 18 loving grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Mary Theresa Vloet; brothers and sisters, Wilhelmina, (Jan-deceased), Cardigan, P.E.I.; Bert (deceased) (Nel), Arnold (Jans), Cornelius (Mari), Maria (Jan), Tina (Henk-deceased), Annie (Frans) and Anthony (Bets) all of Holland. Brothers and sisters-in-law, Harry (deceased) (Leni, deceased), Wim (Dora), Bets (deceased) (Joachim), Jacques (Riek), Wilhelmina (Martin) all of Holland. Anne Adeline Hryhoruk 2009-03-01 Mrs. Anne Adeline Hryhoruk (nee Chovancak), age 94 years, a resident of Thunder Bay, passed away in St. Joseph’s Hospital, on Thursday, February 26, 2009. Anne was a lifetime resident of the city, daughter of Peter and Helen Chovancak. She was married to Paul Hryhoruk, on October 18, 1938. He predeceased her in 1967. She worked for Stitt‘s and Cooper-Stitts Clothing Stores for a number of years. She loved to work in her garden and was well known for her perogies, cabbage rolls and apple strudel. Anne also loved to travel and enjoyed the odd trip to the casino. She was a member of St. Patrick‘s Cathedral. Anne is survived by her daughter Audrey, numerous nieces, nephews, brother-in-law John Venasky Sr., cousin‘s Cecilia and Betty Baydik of Houston Texas and other relatives. She was predeceased by her parents, husband Paul, brothers John, Peter, Steve and Andrew and sister Mary Kruppa. Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 2, 2009 when family and friends will gather for the Funeral Mass in St. Patrick’s Cathedral at 10:00 a.m. celebrated by Rev. Msgr. P.M. Stilla V.G. Interment will follow at St. Patrick’s Cemetery. If friends desire, memorials to the Northern Cancer Foundation or St. Joseph‘s Foundation would be appreciated. Mrs. Jeanne Breault October 22, 1919 - February 19, 2009 Passed away peacefully at the age of 89 with her family by her side. Beloved wife of the late Sam (1996). Dear sister of Roland and Annie Demers, Marcel Demers and Shirley, Bernice Donaldson and the late Jack (2008), Doreen Ouellette and the Late Justice Kenneth (2006), and predeceased by Dr. Percy Demers (2002) and wife Patricia (2009). Jeanne is survived by her many nieces and nephews. Visiting will take place at Ste. Anne Church on Tuesday February 24, 2009 from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the Memorial Mass at 10:30 a.m. Fr. Antonio "Tony" Madon - February 20, 2009 MADON, Antonio "Tony" Tony left us after a brief illness on February 20, 2009. He leaves behind to mourn his passing, his wife and soulmate, Dorothea; his parents, Joseph and Gilda; his brother, Andre; 2 daughters, Maria and Cathy (Geoff); 2 step-daughters, Tanya and Veronica (Henri); and 2 grandchildren that he loved beyond measure, Paige and Johnathan. He also leaves behind relatives and many friends who's lives he touched with his special spirit. He will be forever missed. A Visitation will be held on Monday, February 23, 2009 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at the Evergreen Funeral Chapel, 16204 Fort Road, Edmonton. HICKOX, Evelyn Gertrude - May 17, 1915 - February 20, 2009 of Amherst passed away Friday, February 20, 2009 at Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre, Upper Nappan, N.S. She was a daughter of the late Thomas and Gertrude (Tracey) Trenholm. Evelyn was born and spent her entire life in Amherst. She was a founding member of the Golden Years Society where she was until becoming ill very much involved. Evelyn spent many years in the grocery and meat business with her late husband Roland. She had many passions including music, which she passed on to three generations of her family. Evelyn loved flowers, bird watching, baking and had a passion for life. We have lost a much loved treasure whose memory will live on in us all. Surviving is her son Ivan and his wife Carmel (Legere) with whom she made her home, four grandchildren Cynthia Lidster of Michigan, Christine Hichox of Moncton, Stephen Hickox of Ontario and Eddie Johnson of Amherst, two step grandchildren Mike and Di Legere, six great grandchildren, two step great grandchildren, a very special great niece Trudy Brown and several other nieces and nephews. Evelyn was predeceased by her husband Roland, two brothers Ivan and Harold and one sister Dorothy Simpson. As per her request her remains have been cremated. There will be no visitation or service at this time. A private graveside service will be held in the spring where she will be laid to rest in the family lot.
