MÉNARD, Yvon - It is with great sorrow that the family announces his death on Sunday, January 18, 2009 in Sudbury at the age of 81 years. Son of the late Oscar and the late Alice (née Danis) Ménard. Beloved husband of Jeannine (née Dugas) Ménard of Val Caron. Loving father of Ronald Ménard of Timmins, Suzanne Lauzon (Michel) of Val Caron, Ginette Soulière (Gilbert) of Astorville, Normand Ménard (Louise) and Danielle Viau (Eugene) both of Hanmer. Dear brother of Fernande Beaudry (late Olida), Robert Ménard (Jeannette), Jeannine Billard (Maurice) all of Cornwall and Royal Ménard (Sacred Heart Brother) of Timmins. Predeceased by his brothers Marcel Ménard (Pauline of Ottawa), Lucien Ménard (Rollande of Cornwall), Gilles Ménard (Jeanne d'Arc of Cornwall) and Fernand Ménard (Laurette of Cornwall). Sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his 12 grandchildren and 11 great- grandchildren. After 34 1/2 years of service as a miner with Inco, Mr. Ménard soon became a snow bird and enjoyed the warm weather for the past 25 years. He had a passion for lawn bowling and 2 years ago he earned a Championship Award of which he was very proud. PIDUTTI, Laurie (nee Wisniewski) - In loving memory of Laurie Pidutti (nee Wisniewski), 49 years, who passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, January 18, 2009. Beloved wife of Enio Pidutti of Sudbury. Loving mother of Joel and Dale. Dear sister of Karen (Douglas Adair) of Sudbury and Marcia Wisniewski of Oakville. Cherished daughter of Andrew and Claudette (nee Laberge) Wisniewski of Levack and daughter-in-law of Guido and Theresa Pidutti of Coniston. Sadly missed by her brother-in-law John and Diane Pidutti of Coniston. Laurie was a true and loyal friend who had a contagious, perky and bubbly personality. She worked as an occupational therapist at Laurentian Hospital and at C.C.A.C. After starting her family Laurie managed her husband's optometry practice in the Bonaventure Mall, Chelmsford. She was also involved with the Sudbury Minor Hockey Association and loved watching her boys play hockey and soccer. Her favorite retreat was the cottage on Manitoulin Island. MATZINGER, Dr. Karl Edward - Peacefully at the Ottawa Civic Hospital on Saturday, January 17, 2009 after an acute stroke. Loving husband of Lucy (nee Dylowna). Father of Dr. Mary Ann Matzinger (Dr. Dan Cameron), Dr. Fred Matzinger (Jocelyne, nee Brault), and Dr. Jane Matzinger. Grandfather of Catherine, Richard, Paul, Elizabeth, and Alexandra. He was a radiologist at the old Ottawa General Hospital and at the Pembroke General Hospital. He loved summers at the cottage, reading, listening to music, growing roses, feeding the birds and spending time with his family. ADAMS, Clara Elizabeth - Clara died peacefully at the Timmins & District Hospital on January 17, 2009 with her son Stephen and his wife Wendy at her side. She was born in Toronto, Ontario in 1919, but lived most of her life in Beeton, Ontario with her husband Fred, who predeceased her in 1992, where they operated the Beeton $.05 to $1.00 Store. Clara was predeceased by her brother Bert Smits (Anne) of Toronto. She had recently moved to Spruce Hill Lodge in South Porcupine to be closer to her family. Clara is survived by her son Stephen Adams (Wendy) of Timmins, grandchildren John (Angela Jones) of Ottawa, Ontario and Sara (Ron Lewis) of St. John's Newfoundland and Labrador and 3 great grandchildren, Matthew, Samantha and Christina. Clara will be buried in the Beeton Cemetery next to her husband. The family will receive friends at the Rod Abrams Funeral Home in Tottenham, Ontario on Wednesday, January 21, 2009 form 11:00 am with the service to follow at 1:00 pm. A memorial service to celebrate Clara's life will be held at Spruce Hill Lodge in South Porcupine on Tuesday, January 27, 2009 at 2:00 pm. ELCHESON, Christine 2009-01-20 Christine (Chris) Elcheson passed away peacefully Thursday 15 evening with her family and friends at her side. Chris was born October 21st, 1957 in Port Arthur, Ontario. She was educated at Hammarskjold, Westgate and Confederation College. She was employed first at Provincial Papers, where she met her loving husband, Joey, and later at Superior Coatings. She enjoyed working part-time for Nell at Lakeside Husky. She loved dining at Bistro One, cooking, reading, knitting, Coronation Street and being at home with family and friends. Chris was predeceased by her parents Clifford (Bob) and Mary Walsh and her twin sister, Constance, at birth. Chris will be sadly missed by her husband Joseph and their "puppies", Skylar and Cooper, her sisters Rosemary (Ray) Koivisto and Colleen (Mark) Todd of White Lake, Ontario, brother-in-law Don Hemsworth, her nieces Richelle (Jeff) Prouse, Erin Hemsworth, and Ryleigh (Dan) Geier of White Rock, BC, and her great niece and nephew, Finnoula and Berrit Prouse. Mrs. Norma Marie Scott March 22, 1933 - January 13, 2009 Halifax, died January 13, 2009, at home after a brief battle with cancer. Born in Baddeck, she was the beloved daughter of the late Norman and Marion (MacDonald) MacKillop. Norma spent her early career as a teacher, which she gave up to become a full time homemaker. The game of bridge was the great love of her life besides her family. Some of her happiest times were around a bridge table, bowling, spending time in Baddeck or getting into some kind of devilment. Norma's summers were not complete without her pilgrimage to Baddeck, where she rejuvenated her island spirit. She leaves behind her husband, Norman; daughter, Wendy (Bill Stewart), Liverpool; son, Tim (Susan), Truro; grandchildren, Scott and Erin Stewart; Laura and Emily Scott; mother-in-law, Marguerite, Halifax; sister, Betty (Donnell Beaton), Baddeck/Bedford; brother, Dr. Jim (Barbara) MacKillop, Sydney; as well as many in-laws, nieces, nephews and cousins. Mrs. Mona Murray (Clouston) September 26, 1921 - January 13, 2009 Mona Murray (Clouston) September 26, 1921 – January 13, 2009 Mona Murray passed away at Stensrud Lodge in Saskatoon on Tuesday, January 13, 2009 at the age of 87 years. Mona is survived by her nephew Murray (Donna) Gjosund of Saskatoon, SK. Mona was born at Newcastle on Tyne in England September 26, 1921. At the age of 6 months she immigrated to Canada with her parents and twin brother. The family homesteaded in the Peterson area and later settled in Meacham where Mona received her education. In 1942, Mona entered Saskatoon Normal School and started her career as a teacher at which she excelled. Mona married Mervyn Murray in 1976. Mona and Merv loved dancing, traveling, and cruises. They also enjoyed gardening, and won awards for their efforts. Mona was predeceased by her husband, Mervyn in 1996; parents, Stan and Alice Clouston; twin brother, Gerry; sister, Alice Gjosund; and nephews, Barry and Doug Gjosund. A special thanks to her very good friend Adeline Vogelgesang who was always there for her. The family would also like to thank the staff of Stensrud Lodge for their kindness and care. Our dear Mona, may you dance your way to heaven to meet Merv. We will always love you and miss you. Mr. Gerald James Conrad October 26, 1928 - January 13, 2009 80, Hammonds Plains, passed away Tuesday, January 13, 2009, in the VG Site, QEII. Born in Riverport, he was a son of the late Titus and Enid (Joudrey) Conrad. Gerald spent his early years at sea working on oil tankers on the Great Lakes, before working 36 years with the Department of Highways, retiring in 1990. He was always busy and loved working in the garden and spending time with his family. He was a member of the Lutheran Church and sang in the choir. Gerald is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Gloria (Reinhardt); sons, Terry (Sherry), Lower Sackville; Peter (Debbie), Hammonds Plains; Kyle (Kristal), Tantallon; daughters, Barbara Burke, Halifax; Tina (Gerry) Westlake, Beaver Bank; sister, Barbara Schmidt, Kentville; 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son in infancy; brothers, Harold, Bruce, Arnold and sisters, Pauline Strong and Winnie Conrad. A special thank you to the Nursing Staff of 5A the VG Site, QEII. Cremation has taken place. The family will receive visitors 7-9 p.m. today in Atlantic Funeral Home, 125 Sackville Dr., Lower Sackville. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, January 16, in Lutheran Church of the Resurrection, 2096 Windsor St., Halifax, with a reception to follow. Her devotion to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ has many times been an example to others, as well as an encouragement to those around her. She shall be greatly missed for many years to come. David John Nichols December 22, 1960 - January 14, 2009 Surrounded by his family and listening to his favourite tunes David passed away on Wednesday, January 14th, 2009 at the age of 48 years. He was born on December 22nd, 1960. To treasure his memory he leaves behind his children Michael, Amber and Brayden, his mother Viva Nichols, sisters Bonnie (Al) Striemer, Connie (Ray) Yablonski, brother Willard (Karen) Nichols and families, father-in-law Mac Barber, brother-in-law Spence (Terry) Barber, sister-in-law Sandy (Ray) Flynn and families, many relatives and countless friends. When he left us he went into the welcoming arms of his wife Shirley, father Clarence and mother-in-law Greta. David worked at various jobs including Norsask Tire, Fountain Tire and most recently Ridsdale Transport. David was an open-hearted, out-going happy person. He had an infectious laugh and beautiful smile as well as a fantastic sense of humour. His children were his priority and he loved them deeply. Other loves he had were gardening, landscaping and more recently he was experimenting with different types of wood-carving. He was also a talented artist. No matter what his interests were he always had time to spend with friends and family. A Memorial Service will be held Monday, January 19th at 3:00 p.m. from Hillcrest Funeral Home (east on 8th Street, turn right before railway crossing). The family expresses a special thanks to the caregivers at Parkridge Centre for their concern and kindness. Flowers gratefully declined. Also survived by many nieces and nephews in Michigan, Italy and Germany. Mr. Drommi was a member of CAW Local 195 and retired from Kelsey Hayes in 1989 after 24 years of service.
