Mr. Robert Mitchell June 3, 1922 - January 13, 2009 Mitchell, Robert Jamie 1922-2009 (W.W.II Veteran, 25 year employee General Motors) It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our much loved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather on Tuesday, January 13, 2009. Dearly loved husband of 38 years to Rosina. Proud father to Robert and Debra of Troy, Michigan; Elisabeth and Ken of Naples, Florida; Rona and David of Oshawa; Yvonne and Mike of Oshawa; Moira (David deceased) of Toronto; Sharon and Lester of Oshawa. Cherished grandfather of 21 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Brother to Mary Mitchell. Pre-deceased by his first wife Elspeth. Bob (as he was known to his family and friends) was born in Paisley, Scotland June 3, 1922. He retired from General Motors as a tool and die maker after 25 years of dedicated service. He was an avid soccer fan having played semi-pro in his native Scotland. He was a life-long learner and his knowledge of History and Geography astounded us all. His love for his family was unconditional and nothing made him happier than large family gatherings. He had great affection for animals and Mookie will miss his warm lap. PARSONS, Loretta (nee Bradley) Passed away from pancreatic cancer at the Ottawa General Hospital on January 18, 2009 at the young age of 61. She left this world too soon and will be missed by all who knew her. Loretta created beauty in the world around her. She loved and nurtured people, plants and animals. Strangers felt welcome in her home. Sick animals were tenderly nursed back to health. Magnificent blooms abounded in her garden. She enjoyed traveling to many areas of the world, as well as a good meal, and was interested in current events, live music, film, and her always present CBC radio! She was one of the smartest and most practical people you would ever meet. Loretta highly valued education and learning and was engaged in the world until the end. Loretta lived her life in fast forward. Born in Mary's Harbour, Labrador on December 10, 1947, she grew up in Indian Cove. She left home at the tender age of 15 to pursue higher education, and was the first in her family to go on to post-secondary education. While at the Memorial University of Newfoundland, she met and fell in love with Scott at the age of 19. They were married in May 1968 and began their family soon after. Loretta balanced motherhood and family life with a successful career as teacher, librarian, manager with Information Canada, and technical publications editor with the RCMP, from which she retired in 1998. In her retirement, she enjoyed further travel, and time at home with her pets, garden and family. Loretta lived life fully until the end. She faced her difficult illness with considerable strength and courage, maintaining her independent spirit against all odds. She was described as stoic by many. Loretta will be sorely missed and forever remembered, cherished and loved by husband Scott, daughters Karen and Kim, son Jason (engaged to Vanessa), and her siblings Larry, Shirley, David and Kirby, as well as her nieces and nephews. She was the best person we have ever known. She was predeceased by her father Donald, mother Violet and brother Terry. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 21, 2009 from 7-9 pm at Heritage Funeral Home, 2871 St. Joseph Blvd., Orleans. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, January 22, 2009 at Heritage Funeral Home at 2 pm. Donations in her memory can be made to Friends of Abandoned Pets or the SPCA. Il a travaillé fort dans les mines du Québec, Baie-Saint-Paul et Elliot Lake. Il a fini sa carrière en travaillant dans le département des parc et loisirs pour la ville de Sudbury. À sa retraite, il aimait aider ses enfants dans plusieurs projets. La famille recevra parents et amis à la COOPÉRATIVE FUNÉRAIRE, 4691, RR 15, CHELMSFORD, mardi en soirée, de 19 h à 21 h 30. La messe funéraire sera célébrée le mercredi 21 janvier 2009 à 11 h 00 à la paroisse Ste-Agnès, Azilda. Husband of the late Doris Lemire (née Gagnon). Beloved father of Nicole Richer (Roger), André Lemire (Micheline), Carmen Girard (Ronald), Ginette Simard (Roland), 11 grandchildren and 13 great- grandchildren. Husband in second marriage to Yvette Quenneville Lemire (née Larcher) predeceased. Sadly missed by Yvette's children, Gilbert (Louise), Robert, Claude (Pierrette), Normand (Pauline), Marcel (Mary Lou), Gérald, predeceased (Claire), her 15 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Sadly missed by his dear friend, Antoinette Montpellier Vaillancourt of Chelmsford. Predeceased by his sister Lucienne and his brothers Nazaire (Lorraine) and Roméo (Irène). Antonio touched many people's lives in the course of his life and will be irreplaceable to many. Dad lived life to its fullest. . . the bigger the party the better and since his retirement he fully enjoyed camping, card games and tours on his pontoon. He was a hard worker, having worked in Quebec, Baie-Saint-Paul and Elliot Lake mines, ending his working career with the City of Sudbury, Parks and Recreational Department. During his retirement, he took great pride in helping his children with their many projects. The family will receive relatives and friends at the CO- OPERATIVE FUENRAL HOME, 4691, RR 15, CHELMSFORD, Tuesday evening from 7-9:30 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Wednesday, January 21st, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. in Ste-Agnès Church, Azilda.
