La famille Verreault a le regret de vous annoncer le décès de MME MARILOU MAYER décédée à Gatineau, le 26 décembre 2008, à l'âge de 55 ans. Elle était la conjointe de Daniel Verreault et la fille de feu Armand Mayer et de feu Marie Blanche Sauvé. Outre son conjoint, elle laisse dans le deuil son frère Michel et le fils de son conjoint: Martin (Marie-Anne). Elle laisse également ses oncles, tantes, cousin(e)s et ami(e)s ainsi que ses confrères et consoeurs de travail. Il n'y aura pas de visites à la maison funéraire. RAINA, Paul Thomas Paul died peacefully Sunday morning after a year long campaign against cancer. He was surrounded by family and friends to the end and maintained his sense of humour throughout. He is survived by his father Ralph, and stepmother Catherine, his wife Kelly, his beloved children Zane and Quinn, and his stepsister and stepbrother Christine and Trevor. Predeceased by his mother Mildred (Millie). Awesome Uncle to Lucas and Hannah, brother-in-law to Manueal and Sarah, son-in-law to Manuel and Elisa Santos. Paul will be greatly missed by his many aunts, uncles and cousins. Paul dedicated his life to his country through his political involvement. He was a great believer in democracy and loved to fight for the underdogs. We know he is campaigning in heaven. We have lost a great Canadian. Visitation will be held at the TRULL "EAST TORONTO" FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION CENTRE, 1111 Danforth Ave., (One block east of Donlands Subway), 416-465-4661 from 1-3 and 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, January 21, 2009. Further celebration of his life will be held at The Scanachai Pub across the street that same day. TODD, Timothy (Tim) James September 28, 1939 - January 12, 2009 Our loving father, husband and friend passed away peacefully at the Peter Lougheed Hospital ICU, on January 12, 2009. What we will all miss most of all is his laughter and mischievous sparkling brown eyes. He was always teasing and laughing with his friends and family. These times were always the most important part of his life. Tim is survived by his wife and best friend Marleen and his four children Taralee (Tom) Todd, Tanya (Tim) Price, Tedi-Jo (Rick) Gardner, Tim (Rita) Todd, along with his four grandchildren Kimberlee (Jason), Amanda, Jeff and Rob and great-grandson Dylan and many relatives and friends. Tim was born in Stettler, Alberta on September 28, 1939 and married his soulmate Marleen Harvey in 1964. He spent his younger years working on the oilrigs throughout Alberta. In 2004 he retired from a thirty year career as an airline sheet metal mechanic with Field Aviation, Pacific Western Airlines, Canadian Airlines and Air Canada in Vancouver and Calgary. Throughout his life Tim was very active in playing softball and hockey and always spent time hunting and fishing with excellent results. His family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to the many nurses and doctors in ER and ICU at the Peter Lougheed Center and a special hug to Deb Bosley who made this very sad time bearable for us all. WOOD, Kenneth Charles April 15, 1934 - January 15, 2009 It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Ken Wood on January 15, 2009 at the age of 74 years. Ken was born in Ethelton, Saskatchewan, where he spent his early years before moving to Calgary in his teens, where he attended Western Canada High School. Ken was employed for numerous years as a draftsman with Canada Cities Service before taking early retirement. His love for the mountains took him to Seebe where he ran the General Store. With the mountains in his backyard Ken was able to continue with his passion of painting pictures and wildlife scenes. Ken is survived by his sister Joyce Kaughman; nieces Sheila Peters (Steve); Brenda Kaughman; nephews Brad Kaughman (Peggy); Ron Kaughman (Tracy) and many great-nieces and nephews. Ken was predeceased by his parents Olive and Hank Wood. OBITUARY JACK LEVINE It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our loved Jack Levine on January 16, 2009 in Vancouver, B.C. Jack died suddenly of cardiac complications under the watchful and caring team of the VGH Cardiac Care Unit. We are grateful for their efforts and compassion as well as the remarkable personal and dedicated care provided to Jack over the years by Drs. Lubin, Feinstadt and Boroomand. Jack was predeceased by his sisters Mattie and Sema and daughter Cheryl. He is survived by Shirley, his wife of sixty-four years, his son Marc, of whom he was very proud, and his favourite daughter-in-law Joan Pinkus, his grandchildren, who adored him and whom he cherished: Jay Krames (Trudi), Elayne Howitt, Jordan and Adrian Levine, and his four terrific great-grandsons, Matthew and Nolan Krames, Adam and Joshua Howitt. Jack will also be missed by his sister and brother-in law, Marilyn and David, dedicated nieces, nephews and dear friends in Quebec, Ontario and Florida, as well as the wonderful friends he has made since he and Shirley moved from Montreal to Vancouver in 1995. Besides having dinners with his family, one of Jack's favourite activities in Vancouver was to go the golf club and be with his friends, with whom he greatly enjoyed talking and sharing memories. Funeral service will be held at Temple Sholom at 7190 Oak Street, Vancouver at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, January 21. Burial will be at the Temple Sholom cemetery in White Rock. BURBRIDGE, Captain Ralph T. 1917 - 2009 Master Mariner British and Canadian Merchant Marine 1933-1953 Peacefully at home on January 17, 2009 in his 92nd year. Beloved husband of Margaret (Murphy/Lumsden). Cherished father of Terry (Susan Garry), grandpa of Christopher and Adrian Scotchmer and Amy Burbridge. Predeceased by his dear wife of 50 years, Frances (Murphy), and his much loved daughter, Sheila Scotchmer. Ralph was born in New Denver B.C. to Charles Burbridge and Florence Tuke and leaves behind his brother John, and sister Joyce Stewart (Don). He will be remembered by his many nieces, nephews and friends for the colourful stories of his life. Ralph went to sea at the age of 15, served around the world in the British and Canadian Merchant Marine Services, including the entire Second World War and the Battle of the Atlantic. He later worked at North American Life Insurance, spent many summers as Port Warden at Churchill, Manitoba, and retired from the Ministry of Transport- Marine Regulations. He enjoyed his long retirement to the full, especially his last joyful years with Margaret. Godspeed Ralph, as you embark on your last voyage. SEWELL, Barbara-Anne (nee Hendricksen). August 14, 1943 - January 17, 2009. Surrounded by her family, Barbara passed away after a two year courageous battle with cancer, at the Jewish General Hospital, on the evening of January 17. She was the beloved wife and best friend of William (Bill) Sewell, cherished mother of Robert (Susan), David (Deborah), Deidre (Pierre) and Megan (Chuck), cherished grandmother of Caitlynn, Joshua, Sandrine, Samuel and Victoria. The family will receive condolences on Wednesday, January 21 from 2 to 4 and from 7 to 9 p.m. as well as, Thursday, January 22 from 9 a.m. at Rideau Funeral Home, 4275 Sources, Dollard des Ormeaux, 514-685-3344. The funeral service will be celebrated at the Rideau Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, January 22 at 10 a.m. The interment will follow privately at Rideau Memorial Gardens. Richard (Dick) Scott, beloved husband of Mary, formally of Alameda, SK, passed away on Saturday, January 17, 2009 at the age of 87 years. WIEST, Francis (Frank) Gregory September 5, 1920 - January 17, 2009 Francis (Frank) Gregory Wiest, beloved husband of Eileen Wiest of Calgary, passed away on Saturday, January 17, 2009 at the age of 88 years. Frank was born on September 5, 1920 to John and Eva Wiest in Prelate, SK. Among his many brothers and sisters, he was particularly close to Eva and his late sister Laura. Frank taught school for more than thirty years, spending much of that time as the principal at Moosomin Reserve in Saskatchewan. He married Eileen Magosse on June 8, 1950. Together their pride and joy were their children and, in later years, also their grandchildren. Frank was a kind, devoted family man who was deeply committed to his Catholic faith. After retiring from teaching, he worked for ten years as a commissionaire with the RCMP in North Battleford, SK. In 2001 Frank and Eileen moved to Calgary to be closer to family. Frank will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Frank is survived by his wife of fifty-eight years, Eileen; sons, Gerry (Lorraine) of Courtenay, BC and Reg of Calgary; daughters, Bernadine (Gary) of Medicine Hat, Annette of Calgary, and Michelle (Tom) of Long Grove, IL; and ten grandchildren. Prayers were held yesterday, January 21, 2009 at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church (1600 Acadia Drive S.E.). PRIMEAU, Patricia Jane At home on Sunday, 18 January 2009. Dear wife and closest friend of Wayne. Originally from Santa Monica, California, Patti met Wayne when both were students at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). She emigrated to Canada during Centennial Year 1967. Subsequently she obtained two degrees with distinction and high honours from Carleton University in Ottawa. She was an avid photographer and traveller. Friends know her devotion to animals and her willingness to provide a helping hand in any emergency or difficult situation in Canada or in the various parts of the world she and Wayne lived and worked, especially throughout Eastern and Southern Africa, Russia, Israel, Jordan and especially the Palestinian Territories. She will be sorely missed by her husband, her relatives in the UK and USA, her friends around the world, as well as the 5 rescue dogs and cats (again from around the world) that are the latest four-footed occupiers of their wonderful and loving home. BROUGHTON, Mary February 25, 1923 - January 18, 2009 Mary Broughton of Calgary, passed away on Sunday, January 18, 2009 at the age of 85 years. Mary was born in Penarth, Wales on February 25, 1923, the youngest of ten siblings. She spent her early years working on a dairy farm, where she became a champion milkmaid. In 1959, she immigrated to Canada with her sister Constance and her niece Suzanne. Together they made a new life in Canada. Mary always worked hard, spending twenty-six years as a veterinary assistant at the 17th Avenue Animal Hospital. Mary is survived and will be terribly missed by her niece Suzanne (Michael) and her great-niece Rowan, along with a large extended family in England and Wales. Mary dearly loved her animal companions, and will now join Belle, Nova, Teak, and Boy-Boy on the other side of the rainbow bridge. KRYSTOMPOL, William (Wasyl) (Bill) - age 83 years, a resident of Thunder Bay, passed away peacefully on January 17, 2009, with his best friend, Blackie, watching over him. Bill was born in Nestiucky in the Ukraine. He came to Canada October 9, 1947, settling here and working in the bush camps. Bill started work for the C.N.R. in 1948 and worked there until his retirement in 1986 as a foreman. He married Vera Skubic in 1950 and she predeceased him in 2000. Bill had been a very active member of the Church of the Transfiguration and the Brotherhood of the Maintenance of the way Local #172. Bill is survived by his daughter Anne Tesarski and husband Phil, East St. Paul Manitoba, son Boris, Thunder Bay, 5 grandchildren Tara and Daina Krystompol, Chris, Sean and Mike Tesarski. Other relatives also survive here and in the Ukraine. Bill was predeceased by his parents, Michaylo and Katherine, wife Vera, brothers Michael, Labyk, sister Stephanie Shewchuk and brother-in-law Mykola. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 22, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. when family and friends will gather for Liturgy in the Church of the Transfiguration celebrated by Rev. Vladimir Chvets. SCOTT, Doris Leone - Passed away peacefully at the Stedman Hospice on Monday, January 19th, 2009. Beloved wife of the late Wray (1998). Predeceased by her daughter Peggy (1981). Loving mother of Gord (Diane). Caring grandmother of Kevin, Amanda, Krystal, and Nathan. Great- grandmother of Mikaela, Hannah, and Taylor. She will also be remembered by her nieces, nephews, and many dear friends. At Doris's request cremation has taken place. A memorial visitation will be held at the BECKETT-GLAVES FAMILY FUNERAL CENTRE, 88 Brant Avenue on Tuesday (January 20) from 2-4 p.m. Donations to the Stedman Hospice would be appreciated. GRIFFITH, Randall Dennis - (Contractor of Orillia Packet & Times, long-time employee of Campbell Films, Orillia and 20 year employee of Relchold Chemicals, Lindsay) - Unexpectedly, yet peacefully, surrounded by family, at the Orillia Soldiers' Memorial Hospital on Saturday, January 17th, 2009 in his 73rd year. Randy Griffith of Brechin. Beloved husband of Carol Griffith (nee Bryant). Dear father of Cheryl McIntyre of Orillia, Lorraine and her husband Maxwell Brown of Gilford, Lennard and his wife Shelley of Brechin and Jeffery and his wife Anita of Brechin. Loving grandfather of Jessica, Holly and Scott McIntyre, Amanda, Lisa and Laura Brown, Tara-Lynn and Bradley Griffith and Crystal and Jeffery Griffith and great-grandfather of Hallie and Sylas McIntyre. Loved brother of Trevor and his wife Penny, both predeceased. Sadly missed by many extended family and friends. Visitation will be held at the SIMCOE FUNERAL HOME, 38 James St. E., Orillia on Tuesday, January 20th from 2- 4 pm and 7-9 pm. Funeral Services will be held in the Chapel on Wednesday, January 21st at 2 pm. Spring interment at Atherley Cemetery.
