Dear brother-in-law to Marj Cassidy, John Johnston, Kay Martin, Anne (George) Clarke and Fran (Bob) Maloney. LESSARD, Marcel - Passed away peacefully on January 15, 2009 at the Sudbury Memorial Hospital at the age of 74 years. Marcel was predeceased by his wife Eunice (née Jamieson) and son-in-law Albert Dower and siblings Ernie, Lorraine, Thérèse and Marie-Rose. He leaves behind his beloved children Marcel (Linda) of Deep River, Thérèse (late Albert) Dower of Haileybury, Angeline of Belleville, Gary (Heather) Hollinger of Norwood, Tom Parker of Kirkland Lake. Forever missed by his siblings Henry (Pauline), Lawrence, Maurice (Sandra), George (Linda). Greatly remembered by his grandchildren Lisa (Scott), Marcel 3rd (Jen), Gary Jr., Valerie, Dave, Marie-Claire, Kassandra, Luc, Tiffany and Alexandria; as well as 3 cherished great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. Dad was a very unique man. Through his kindness, generosity and gentle soul, he assisted many people in their time of need. He enjoyed his time outdoors fishing and hunting with family and friends. Marcel spent many days and nights in all kinds of weather carrying out his trade. For a great many people he was a saviour. He will be sadly missed by those who knew him. SERGEANT, Jr. George Robert (Bob) 1925 - 2009 Peacefully, at the Queensway Carleton Hospital in his 85th year. Beloved husband of Lorraine McGahey for 42 years. Survived by his mother-in-law Anida McGahey and the rest of the McGahey family. A native of Mount Vernon, New York, Bob graduated from Yale University, Class of 1945W, and served as an officer in the United States Navy. After his naval service Bob completed a Master Degree in Engineering and worked as a professional engineer in New York City for many years prior to moving to Ottawa. McMURRAY, Wade Anthony - May 1, 1970 - January 8, 2009. After an accident on Tuesday Wade passed away at the General Hospital in Sudbury on Thursday at the age of 38. Beloved husband of Darlene Moore. Special Dad of Cassandra, Jordan, Megan and Brianna. Only son of parents Art & Margaret McMurray. Loving brother of Candice & friend Geoff Gordon. Remembered by mother-in-law Gladys Moore (friend Lorne) predeceased by Albert Moore. Predeceased by grandparents John & Lillian MacDougall, William & Katie McMurray, Neil & Annie Bryant, Wilbert & Ollie Moore. Will be missed by his many Aunts, Uncles, cousins & friends. Wade loved spending time and doing things with his kids, playing X Box, four wheeling and ski doo riding. He enjoyed working at the grocery store & bottle return in Manitowaning; reconnecting with old school friends and others that he had lost touch with while he was away. Wade didn't like staying home, he was always ready to leave to accompany family on any appointments or outings. Wade enjoyed the outdoors, going hunting and fishing. Mr. Haight, a member of Our Mother of Perpetual Help Parish, is survived by his brother, Father Neil Haight, OMT, of Labrador City, Newfoundland. He was predeceased by his wife Audrey McDonald. BRENNAN, Bruce Kevin January 14, 1959 - January 12, 2009 Surrounded by his family and caregivers, Bruce Kevin Brennan passed away peacefully on Monday, January 12, 2009 after a courageous fight with melanoma that so quickly took his life. His loving wife and very best friend Patty Turner and the absolute loves of his life Spencer, Shelby and Mitchell, will dearly miss his smile, the constant sparkle in his eyes and the positive attitude he displayed toward everything he encountered in life. Bruce always made sure his children and wife came first, and he was always there to support other family members and friends. His purpose in life seemed to be to make sure his children had the opportunity to try everything including dirt bikes, snow skiing, golf, wake-boarding and skiing, tennis - just about any sport! His trusted Border Collie companion Spike was ever ready to go on long evening walks and rarely did Bruce let him down. Always the hard worker, Bruce met challenges in life as opportunities to be adventurous, have fun and better himself. Bruce will be remembered by co-workers as a bright and gregarious software database architect. The community will always cherish Bruce's dedication to the community rink and playground behind their house as well his work for years on local traffic issues. The hockey and ringette communities will lose a tireless volunteer, helper and father of three talented players. His strong will and non-recognition of pain carried him through all his adventures and his final fight with cancer. Those close to Bruce will miss the hugs and smiles he gave so selflessly. As he battled his cancer, each hug he gave provided Bruce with comfort that friends and family would carry on what he had started with his children and in his community. Bruce's life will be remembered with a celebration on January 24, 2009, 7:00 p.m. at the Symons Valley Ranch (260011 Symons Valley Road N.W.) - in Wagon Wheel Room. There will be a presentation at 7:30 p.m. and socializing to follow. Bruce is survived by his mother-in-law Connie Turner, Patty's siblings Ann Stinchcomb, Janice Marrington and Doug Turner and his brothers Michael, Gregory and Craig, his sister Diane Ellingson and numerous nieces and nephews who loved him dearly. On December 20, 2008, Walter Bowen of Kerns Township died at the Temiskaming Hospital in New Liskeard. He had been ill with cancer. Mr. Bowen was born in New Liskeard on May 7, 1946 to Frank and Jane Bowen and he married Margaret Kirkby on July 23, 1966. Mr. Bowen loved the outdoors, especially the Gowganda area, Temagami and the west coast of British Columbia. He was an avid collector of antique outboard motors. Mr. Bowen is survived by his wife Margaret; daughters Belinda (Jason) Ketchabaw of Sudbury and Tiffany (Merlyn) Fink of Timmins; grandchildren Eden and Gavin Ketchabaw and Owen Fink; and brothers Francis of Elk Lake and Styrling of Timmins. He was predeceased by his parents. The funeral was arranged by Perrin Funeral Chapel in New Liskeard with the memorial service conducted at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses on December 22. Ralph Weylie (1991) of Cayuga, sister-in-law Marjorie Bird and brother Walter Jerome of Mount Hope. Paul was the youngest son of Guisseppe and Guisseppina Macciocchi. He was predeceased by his sister Antonia Nazzicione. VAN BLADEL, Maria Cornelia (Mary) July 7, 1924 - January 13, 2009 Mary Van Bladel of Calgary, passed away on Tuesday, January 13, 2009 at the age of 84 years. Mary was born in Waalwijk, Holland. On August 22, 1950, Mary married Frits Van Bladel and immigrated to Canada in 1954. They resided in Calgary, where Mary dedicated herself to the care of husband and raising three children. Mary was very proud to have two wonderful grandchildren, and treasured the time she enjoyed in the company of her family. Mary is survived by her children, Petronella Van Bladel of Calgary, Arnie Van Bladel of Vancouver, BC and Cheryl and Lyle Richardet of Calgary; and her grandchildren, Ryan and Chelsea Richardet of Calgary. Maria is also survived by two sisters and numerous family members in Holland. She was predeceased by her husband Frits in 1984.
