MINES, Charles F. (Buddy). Of Crawford Park, Verdun, Quebec, peacefully passed away January 2, 2009, at the Barrie Memorial Hospital in Ormstown. He was one month short of his eighty-seventh birthday. Charlie will be missed greatly by his beloved sweetheart and best friend of over 66 years, his wife Peggy Gowers. He served in World War II where he met Peg in Essex, England and returned to Canada where they raised their three children, Maggie, Linda and David. Charlie is also survived by his five grandchildren, Christina, Tracy, Tara, Kelly and Megan and his three great-grandchildren, Kristin, Carlie and Tiana. Charlie and his wry sense of humor will stay with us forever. CORMIER, Dale Anne Dale Anne Cormier passed away peacefully at the Foothills Medical Centre on January 3, 2009 at the age of 61 years. She is lovingly remembered by her husband Brian and her mother Yvonne Sime. Dale was predeceased by her father Allan Sime and her cousin Marquerite Green. Dale worked for many years in the Bookstore at the ISPG in Calgary, and will be lovingly remembered by her co-workers and staff. In retirement she was a volunteer at the Colonel Belcher Seniors Residence. SAUCIER, Edouard Joseph Edouard Joseph Saucier passed way suddenly on December 30, 2008. Born in Saskatoon, SK, February 1, 1935. He leaves to mourn his best friend and companion Claire Koven; daughter Carol-Ann, of Prince George B.C., and a son John, of Victoria B.C. Four brothers, Louis (twin) of Calgary, AB, Bernard (Nicole) of Ottawa, ON, Joseph, of Saskatoon, SK, Henri, of Courtnay B.C., and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Ed was predeceased by his father Alphonse Saucier and his mother, Yvonne (nee Schmidt) Saucier. Also longtime friend Helen Annable. Ed attended Notre Dame College from 1952 to 1954 in Wilcox SK, and was a lifetime alumni of the college where he received the illustrious Frank Germann Award for his contributions to the Notre Dame College. Ed assisted Pere Athol Murray, founder of the College, as an alter boy for the years he was at Notre Dame. In the late eighties, Ed left his sales traveling days to purchase his own men's wear store in Calgary, AB, "English and Scotch Woolens." Ed was a member of the Calgary Elks Golf and Country Club for some thirty-five years. She was a member of the Mended Hearts Association, Chapter 154 Sudbury. Rita was devoted to her loving family. Beloved mother of Richard Marcon (wife Doreen). Loving grandmother of Paul (wife Carmen), Brent (wife Barbara), Shawn (husband Chris Vigneault), Lisa (husband Mike Zanier) and step granddaughter Laurie Walford (husband John). CLOSE, Anna (nee Siemens) November 18, 1924 - December 31, 2008 Anna peacefully passed into eternal rest on Wednesday, December 31, 2008 at the age of 84 years. Anna was predeceased by husband, Frank Loewen in 1973, and her son, Earl in 2006. She leaves to mourn her passing her children, Paul, Norma, Howard and Edna, sixteen grandchildren, and nineteen great-grandchildren. Anna was born in Fairview, Oklahoma on November 18, 1924, the fourth daughter of Abraham and Lydia Siemens. The family immigrated to Canada in 1928 and settled near Stavely, AB. Anna married Frank Loewen in 1945, and they raised five children on their farm at Coaldale, AB. In 1976, Anna married Charles Close, and together they operated the Lucky Dollar Food Store in Breton, where she later worked as a librarian for eight years. In 2005, Anna took up residence at the Manor Village in Calgary where she formed many special friendships. Anna enjoyed traveling throughout Alberta, the NWT and the United States. She loved to read (particularly biographies), crocheting, knitting, jigsaw puzzles and political TV. She was very involved in arts and crafts over the years and volunteered much of her time on various boards. REISE, Harvey - In loving memory of Harvey Reise, 68 years, who passed away Friday, January 2nd, 2009 at the Sudbury Regional Hospital - St. Joseph Site. Born in Cochrane, he met his beloved Corine in Nipissing, married her in North Bay, resided in Haileybury then moved to Stoney Creek. He joined the carpenters union in 1964, and moved to Sudbury with his employer, Laurentian Insulation as Superintendant. Harvey was a very hard worker, he ventured out on his own establishing his own successful business, Metalbestos Erectors Ltd. He liked the simple things in life, fishing, hunting and a good joke for which he was usually on the giving end. Harvey loved to spend time at his camp in Felix, trying to get the “big one“ that got away, whether a fish or moose. A special thank you to Dr. DeBlacam for his dedication, Dr. Lynch, Dr. Young, Sherry and the Cancer Center for their compassion and understanding, Louie and Florence Dines for their friendship and helping Dad to get to his appointments, to the wonderful nurses and palliative care at St. Joseph Site 2nd floor and finally to the many caring family and friends for all of your support. HUSFELDT, Dirk 2009-01-05 On December 24, 2008, Dirk Husfeldt aged 53, passed away peacefully. Dirk was born on January 9, 1955 in Germany. Dirk was the first born to Christian and Ursula Husfeldt. He was raised in Fort William and attended Francis Street and Selkirk Schools. Dirk was a member of the Millwrights Local #1151 for 34 years. He enjoyed riding his hi Harley Davidson and always lived life to the fullest. He was loving, caring and was always willing to lend a helping hand. Dirk is survived by his father Christian, mother Ursula, brother Christian (Leafy), daughter Natalie, son Eric, nephew Shawn Sabbe, niece Britta Sabbe, niece Caitlin Slongo. As well numerous relatives in Canada and Germany also survive. Predeceased by his loving sister Ilka Marina.
