LAUZON, Mary Elizabeth "Bessie" Mary Elizabeth (Pattison) Lauzon aged 93, died peacefully at Starwood Nursing Home on Sunday, December 14, 2008. She was the daughter of the late Daniel and Molly Pattison, beloved wife of the late Bruno Lauzon and sister of the late Hope Pattison. Two brothers Jack and Bruce were killed in action during WW II and an infant brother, Lawrence, died of Scarlet Fever. She is also survived by several cousins, including Elisa Ashcroft (in British Columbia) and Grace Parnelle (in Washington State). She will be especially missed by her cousins Kathy Wright, Carol and Arthur Pattison. Bessie was an active member of Southminster United Church and a volunteer at the Perley Hospital for many years. Friends are invited to visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair and McGarry, 315 McLeod Street on Wednesday, December 17th from 1 p.m. until service time in the Chapel at 2:30 p.m. Interment will take place in the spring at Springhill Cemetery, Metcalfe, Ontario. LAVIGNE, Allan Paul. 1952-2008. It is with deep sadness we announce the sudden passing of Allan on December 12, 2008 at the age of fifty-six years. Devoted father, who gave continued guidance and unconditional love to his daughter Katie, son Jason (and wife Morgan) and their mother Deborah and his grandson Billy. Survived by his brother and best friend Brian, and his loving sisters Terri, Debbie, Cindy, Linda, sister-in-law Christine and brothers-in-law Bob and Raymond with whom he shared a special humour and camaraderie. Predeceased by her parents Mykola and Halyna Moisejewsky, her sister Helen Horobjowsky and her husband, Joseph Horobjowsky and her brother-in-law, Edward Kudin. She was a tower of strength to her family. She will be greatly missed. SNYDER, Alden January 23, 1933 - December 12, 2008 Alden Snyder beloved Husband of Donna Snyder of Calgary, passed away suddenly at the Foothills Hospital on December 12, 2008, at the age of 75 years. Alden will be lovingly remembered by his children Dean (Cindy), Tracy (Brian) Williams, Trevor (Mikki); seven grandchildren, Danny, Jennifer (Mike), Danielle (Jason), Tyler, Kimberly, Kody and Alexis; brother Bill, sister Irene (Wally) Wright as well as several nieces, nephews and many close friends. He was predeceased by his parents, brother Glenn and sister Harriett Miller. Alden was born and raised in Kathyrn, AB. He worked for various trucking agencies throughout his career. He was a long time member of Pioneer Acres in Irricana, AB, Wildwood Community Association and the Bow Cliff Seniors. Alden enjoyed puttering in his garage and was the go to fix it guy, who loved his family. He will be sadly missed. WATSON, Audina Janice L.P.N. November 28, 1950 - December 13, 2008 It is with great sadness that we mourn the passing of our sister, friend and colleague as Audina left us peacefully after a brief illness on December 13, 2008 at the Foothills Medical Centre at the age of 58 years. Audina leaves behind two brothers: John and David and sister-in-law Betty of Calgary, Aunt Betty and Uncle Nelson Craig of Kitchener, Ontario, relatives and dear friends throughout the country. Her good friend, Julie Smith was at her side where she had been throughout much of her illness. MORTON, Grace Lillian - On December 4th, 2008, a celebration of the life of Grace Lillian Morton was held at Bethel United Church on the Stiring-Marmora Road. Grace was born in Campbellford, Ontario the daughter of Samuel and Susan Dayman and had four other siblings. She attended Public School at S.S. No. 7 Asphodel (Donegal) and High School in Colborne, followed by Peterborough Normal School. Her first teaching job was at Victoria Elementary, near Havelock. She then taught at Donegal School, near Norwood followed by Wellman's Corners School north of Stirling. She arrived by train at the little station east of Wellmans and was met by her future father- in-law who had been one of the trustees on the hiring committee . Seven years later, she married Burton Morton and they raised four children in the community. They enjoyed 63 years together. Since married women couldn't teach in those days, she didn't resume her teaching until 1956 at Allan's Public School in Mt. Pleasant. When the little one room schools were closed, she finished her teaching career at Stirling Public School. Even though she retired in 1972, she went on to supply teach for 7 more years. It was at this time her talents blossomed. She had always written poetry in cards and addresses for people in the community. She was encouraged to share her works and went on to publish two books. Many, many people have a special poem written by her. She was very active in church, teaching organizations and the Stirling Festival of Sacred Praise, where she was a founding member. She was the recipient of many awards and her input was always valued. She made lasting friendships wherever she went. When she decided she no longer could stay in her home, she moved to Bridge Street Retirement Residence, in Belleville. For more than 5 years she made it her home. When the time came to move again, she went to Westgate Lodge where she surprised everyone by staying for 2 years. We all remember her receiving over 100 cards for birthdays and Christmas, making evident to everyone what a special friend she was. We all remember her guest book she had us all sign when we visited. We all remember a very special lady! And now she's gone to Heaven to rest in her mansion fair, And Heaven will be richer because she's living there. Joseph John Bernier January 13, 1920 - December 12, 2008 BERNIER Joseph J. (Pete) Bernier At the Saint John Regional Hospital, on Friday December 12, 2008 Joseph (Pete) Bernier of Grand Bay – Westfield, husband of the late Bernice (Burnett) Bernier. Born in Valley Field, Quebec, on January 13, 1920, he was the son of the late Oliver and Ema (Blackburn) Bernier. Pete was employed with the C.P.R. as a Trucker until his retirement. He was a veteran of the 2nd World War and was a member of the Northshore Regiment, he served in France and Holland and was wounded in France, then went to England and from there back home to Canada in 1945. Pete was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #22. He was the last member of his immediate family. He is survived by one son Bill and his wife Barbara, of Grand Bay – Westfield; three granddaughters Catherine Bernier (Ahmad), Jennifer Bernier (Abedel) and Stephanie Bernier (Ali); eight Great Graddaughters, one Step Grandson Donnie White; one Step Granddaughter Beth White, one Step Great Grandson Joe Power and one special Nephew Earle Lemaire, of Riverview N.B. and several other nieces and nephews. Mr. Howard John Sinclair Pelham April 1, 1928 - December 11, 2008 80, Halifax, passed away December 11, 2008, in the VG Site, QEII. Born in Halifax, he was a son of the late Edwin and Elizabeth (Coleman) Pelham. Howie retired from C.N.R. after 35 years of service as pipefitter. He was chairman of the Pipefitters Union for 15 years. He was an avid reader, crib player and bowler, belonging to the 400 Club. He is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Rachel (LeBlanc), formerly of Joggins; brother, Arthur (Janice), Truro; sister, Madeline Prowse, Cranbrook, B.C., as well as 23 nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sisters, Mary, Anne, and Doreen; brother, Harold. Cremation has taken place. Memorial mass will be held 11 a.m. Monday in St. Catherine of Siena Roman Catholic Church, Bayers Road, Halifax, reception to follow, burial will take place in St. Peter's Roman Catholic Cemetery, Herring Cove. Mrs. Mary Esther Williston, widow of Leonard Williston of 271 Campbell Street, Miramichi, passed away Sunday December 14, 2008, at Miramichi Regional Hospital, at the age of 97. Born in Chatham NB, she was the daughter of the late James & Margaret (Lynch) Robins. She was a homemaker and a member of St Mary's Roman Catholic Church, also a former member of CWL. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She is survived by one daughter Margaret Williston of Miramichi; one son Bill Williston of Miramichi; three grandchildren; Wendy, Jaime and Cail Williston; nieces and nephews. At the request of the family there was no visitation at the funeral home. Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Tuesday, December 16, 2008 at 11 a.m. from St Mary's Roman Catholic Church, with Father Tom Fowler officiating. Organist Mary Butler led the church choir in "Here I Am Lord", "Psalm 23", "You Are Near", "Songs of the Angels" and "On Eagles Wings". Readings were by Trudy Walsh.
