Lévio J. Thériault À l'Hôpital régional d'Edmundston, le 19 novembre 2008, à l'âge de 85 ans, est décédé Lévio J. Thériault, domicilié à Edmundston, époux de Thérèse Daigle. M. Thériault était membre du Club d'âge d'or Amitié, Légion royale Canadienne, branche 25, d'Edmundston; vétéran de la Seconde Guerre mondiale et membre de l'Association des Anciens Scouts et Guides d'Edmundston. Outre son épouse, il laisse dans le deuil son fils, Jacques (Claire Castonguay), d'Edmundston; sa fille, Madeleine, d'Edmundston; ses petits-enfants, Hélène (Jean-Claude D'Amours) et Francis Thériault (Josée Bazinet) et une arrière-petite-fille, Émilie D'Amours. Ses funérailles ont eu lieu le samedi 22 novembre, à 11 heures, en l'église Notre-Dame-des-Sept-Douleurs, et l'inhumation au cimetière paroissial. Le père Roger Dionne présidait aux cérémonies, assisté des pères Yvan Thériault et Normand Godbout. Les porteurs étaient Rino Daigle, Kevin Daigle, Vincent Dubé, Gérald Daigle, Francis Thériault et Daniel Martin. Les lectures furent effectuées par Denise Fournier et Madeleine Thériault. MILLIKEN, Aleta Jean (nee Silver) - Aleta Jean Milliken beloved wife of Samuel Milliken of Calgary passed away on Monday, November 17, 2008 following a sudden illness at the age of 72 years. Aleta was born in Portland Township, Frontenac County, Ontario. She was very involved in various deaf groups and loved to watch curling. Besides her loving husband Samuel, Aleta is survived by her three sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Elaine Koshowski, Russell and Kathy Koshowski, and Paul Koshowski; grandchildren Russell Jr., Madeline and Luke; her sisters Ruth (Ernie) Keller, and Lois Eves; sister-in-law Hazel; as well as several cousins, nieces, and nephews. Aleta was predeceased by her sister Phyllis Storey; her brothers, Don Silver, and Orville Silver. Friends will be received at the TOWNSHIP CHAPEL of the GORDON F. GUIDOLIN, Armand (Bep) - Bep was most noted for his career in hockey and was the youngest player in the NHL at 16 years of age with the Boston Bruins. Bep played his NHL career with Boston Bruins, Chicago Black Hawks and Detroit Red Wings. Bep also coached Junior A Hockey (Oshawa Generals, London Knights), Senior Hockey (Belleville McFarlands, Barrie Flyers), AHL (Boston Braves), WHA (Edmonton Oilers), and the NHL, most notably with the Boston Bruins. HILL, John Arthur August 14, 1931 - November 21, 2008 John Arthur Hill, beloved husband of Shirley of Calgary, passed away suddenly on Friday, November 21, 2008 at the age of 77 years. SPENCE, John “Spinner“ - A strong, feisty, witty and humble man died on November 23, 2008, heartbreakingly early, after only 62 revolutions around the sun. John lived with super human courage throughout his illness, and kept the lives of his family and friends full of love and humour. John was a wonderful husband and partner of 32 years to Joan (Schofield), “Daddy-O“ to Sean (Lucy) of Sydney, Australia and Paul of Victoria, B.C., “The Dadster“ to Holly (Xavier) of London, England and Tom (Dan) of Toronto, and Grandpa “Spinnah“ to Elliot and Phoebe. He was predeceased by his parents John “Jack“ and Norma (nee Godden). Much loved brother of Mike (Jean), Greg (Ingrid), Tim (Penny), David (Ina) and Jane (Craig) Squires, all of Hamilton. He also leaves Mary Beth (Bob) Merry of Milton and Kathy (Mark) Hendrickson of Invermere, B.C. He was an uncle to 15 nieces and nephews, and great uncle to many. He was also best friends and a virtual brother “Johnny“ to Glenn Harada and “Papa“ to pseudo-son Rob Lis. John was born in 1946 in Barrie, and grew up in Hamilton. A keen and gifted athlete all his life, his tenacity and speed on the fields and rinks of Hamilton and Owen Sound are legendary - or so we've been told. John graduated from the University of Toronto in 1973 with a D.D.Sc. A hard working, self-made man, he served the community as a dentist for 35 years, and was much appreciated by his many patients. We will all cherish wonderful memories of Spinner on the ice, on the water, on the slopes, at the cottage, at the office, at the gym, traveling, and at home. He was a man short in stature who cast a great shadow. Known as “The Phantom“ of Myles Bay, John still holds the Owen Sound windsurfing speed record. John had a courageous and adventurous spirit; he did all the things he wanted to do in life; he just wanted to do them more. He was not a perfect man, but parts of him were fantastic. Moira was a very loving grandmother - "Nana" - who cherished her twenty-three amazing grandchildren; William (Merret), Gillian (Zach), Breanna, Haylie, Amber, Kayley, Miles, Dougall, Quinn, Callum, Lianne, Sarah-Lynn (Jason), Andrew, Jonathan, Samuel, Maxwell, Jackson, Emma, Kathleen, Natalie, Keean, Tristan and Neve; as well as two sweet great-grandchildren, Jaylynn and Jacob. Moira was a loving sister to her brother John Jardine (Julia), sister-in-law to Helen Jardine and Sally Young and a special cousin to Joyce (Charles) Hunter, and dear aunt to several nephews and nieces. Gary will be remembered by his father, William, brothers Fred (Heesung), Tim (Linda), and Billy. Gary was predeceased by his mother Eileen on October 22, 1974. Gary's untamed spirit and sense of adventure took him down many roads in life, beginning with his early career as a heavy equipment operator, but the paths that gave him the most pleasure were his pursuits of gold panning and his many detailed wood-burnings. SALTER nee Newbiggin,Geraldine (Gerry 2008-11-25 With her family by her side Geraldine (Gerry) Salter (nee Newbiggin) wife of 57 years to Orval Salter passed away Saturday, November 22 at St. Joseph’s Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. Gerry was born in Winnipeg April 17, 1930. She attended school there and married Orv July 28, 1951. They moved to Thunder Bay (Fort William) in 1960. She was a member of the United Church and the Women’s Institute. Her interests were in her family, traveling, camping, fishing, crossword puzzles, curling and she loved swimming in her pool. Gerry was known for her sense of humor and she always enjoyed get-togethers with family and friends. Gerry raised her four children, worked at Zeller’s and went back to college at the age of 50, then got a job with Romeo Clara Real Estate. Gerry was predeceased by her oldest son Gary, October 6, 2008. She was also predeceased by her Father, her Mother, twin Gerald Newbiggin, brothers Fred, Bill and George, sisters Pearl McPike, Kathleen Furnival, Ethel Vokey, grandson Andrew Salter, daughter-in-law Diane. As per Gerry’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service celebrating Gerry’s life will be held on Saturday, November 29th, 2008 at 1:00pm at Wesley United Church.
