OSTROM, Myrtle Inez (nee Schneider) - The family announces with great sorrow the passing of Myrtle Inez Ostrom (nee Schneider), Mom, Gran and Nan, Sunday, November 23rd, 2008 at the age of 77 years. Predeceased by her husband George William Ostrom. Beloved mother of Sheila Hastings (husband Bob), Kathy Ostrom and Bobby Ostrom (wife Pam). Cherished grandmother of Michael (Denise), Patrick, Tasha (Darren) and Paul. Great grandchildren Corey, Steven, Keagan and Kadin (Kadiddlehopper). Sadly missed by many nieces and nephews. Myrtle generously shared her gift of conversation with others particularly her children. She enjoyed playing games and cards. She was happiest in the company of her loving family especially her precious grandchildren. Myrtle often commented her family was her reason for living. MELLISH, Charles W. 2008-11-25 Born June 19th, 1917 Died November 21st, 2008 It is with sadness that we announce the death of "Pat" (as he was known to most people). Pat was born in Lewisville Moncton, New Brunswick. At age 19 he came to Northern Ontario (Hudson). He worked for Stirrett Airways and later in the gold mines. After that, he worked for Ontario Hydro and then at the Red Rock mill until his retirement. Pat spent 2 or more years in the armed forces (Winnipeg Rifles) during World War II. Pat will be remembered for his kindness and the witty stories he often told the family. He was fond of bowling and when asked about his scores he would say "You really don’t want to know". Baseball and hockey were his favourite sports. He loved to tend the yard and garden. Many busy hours were spent outside as he tried to "best" his son-in-law, Roy at growing tomatoes. We will miss him and his endearing ways. Our solace is that he is at peace now. Pat is survived by his loving wife Alice, step-son George and step-daughter Maxine, one brother Richard (Evelyn), sisters-in-law Shirley, Audrey, Ann in Moncton, NB. Also surviving is a very dear niece Gloria (Bill) Shulman, great nephew Willie (Donna) and great niece Joyce Butson as well as Robert and Melanie Luc who were very special to Pat. Pat was predeceased by his first wife Joyce (Wilson), his brothers Roland Arthur, Kenneth, Douglas and two sisters Beryl and Margaret. A private family service will be held at a later date.

DEGILIO, Louis (July 4, 1921Nov. 22, 2008) - Louis passed away peacefully on November 22, at Woodhaven Residence in Markham, Ontario, surrounded by his family. He leaves behind his loving wife, Ida, of 62 years. He will be deeply missed by his three daughters, Mary Anne (Bob), Brenda, and Eloise (Dennis). Louis was a role model to his three girls, demonstrating hard work, perseverance, and love of family and friends. He was a devoted grandfather to Lauren, Brian, Sarah and Jesse. Louis will be lovingly remembered by his many nieces and nephews, especially Robert, Sandra and Dennis. He leaves behind his brother, Mario, sisters-in-law, Tina, Doris and Lina and brother-in-law Beppi. The family is very grateful to the staff of Woodhaven Residence for their loving care and support over the past year, and to Joanne and Robert Quinn for their sincere friendship. Louis emigrated from Italy to Canada as a youngster, and settled in Timmins where he resided until 2007. From early childhood, he was a devout Catholic and had a special devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary. All his life, Louis took risks and embraced opportunities to better himself. He was an astute businessman and received many diplomas for the varied courses he pursued. After going to Los Angeles to earn his diploma in refrigeration, he worked in Toronto, and then returned to Timmins to begin his own business, Arctic Refrigeration. He excelled in his career, and one of his many accomplishments was the invention of the reverse heating system. Louis never forgot his roots, and often provided free services to those in need. When arthritis prevented him from continuing in refrigeration, Louis opened the Flamingo Motel, where he worked until his early retirement. Louis was an avid outdoorsman who spent most of his leisure hours at the cottage he built on Star Lake. He loved nature and all animals. Louis enjoyed walking long distances, and could often be seen with his dog by his side. Louis served his community throughout his life. He was a member of the Kiwanis Club, delivered Meals on Wheels, and volunteered for the Red Cross Society and the Lord's Kitchen. He donated generously to various charitable organizations. In lieu of flowers, any donations in Louis' memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Society, the Hospital for Sick Children or the Humane Society. A Funeral Mass will be held in Markham, Ontario at 11:00 on Wed., November 26, at St. Patrick's Church. A Memorial Mass will be held in Timmins in the summer of 2009. A Gracious Lady CLARK, Shirley Ruth (Lillis) - Died unexpectedly at home, on Sunday, November 23, 2008. Shirley was born February 29, 1928, the only child of District Chief, K.F.D., H.N. Lillis and his wife Frances, and continued to live in Kingston as a lifelong resident. Cherished wife for 58 years to her dearly loved husband and lifetime partner, C.J.R. (Bob) Clark. Proud mother of three beloved sons, Colin (Sandra), Peter (Nancy) and David (Monique). Her affection and devotion will be forever remembered. 'Grandma' will be sadly missed by her seven adored grandchildren, Amanda, Jenny, Colin Jr., Jason, Laura, Nathan and Ian. They were a joy to her. She was happiest when surrounded by family. The many interests she enjoyed included home, friends, current affairs, reading and travels with husband Bob. Hobbies were needlework and painting with 'The Monday Painters'. Cremation. ABRAMS, Brian - It is with great sadness that the family of Brian Abrams announces his passing on November 19, 2008 in Edmonton, Alberta following complications from pneumonia. Brian was the infant son of the late Pat and Margaret Anne Gartland and after a fatal car accident became the much loved chosen son of the late Ed and Mary Abrams at the age of three weeks. He leaves behind his devoted loving soul mate Lisa Taylor, two daughters Ashley and Brittney, brothers and sisters Ted (Jeanette) Abrams, Fred (Anne) Abrams, Ken (Joan) Abrams, Betty Lou (Jude) Cassidy, Reg Abrams, Paul (Pam) Gartland, Patty Anne (Doug) Reid, Dave Gartland, Margaret Anne (Rob) Smit, Michael Gartland and many nieces, nephews, family and friends in Ontario and Edmonton, where Brian and Lisa lived for the past six years, and were both proud and respected members of the Alberta Carpenters & Allied Workers Union. Lawrence was born Sept. 22, 1950 to Alex and Della Badiuk in Vita, Man., and was raised in Fort Frances, Ont. He is survived by his loving wife, Mary, for the last 13 years in Dryden; his mother, Della Badiuk of Fort Frances, Ont.; his daughters, Annette (Ed Feller) and Donna (Adrien Maltaise); son, Danny (Tamara); and 11 grandchildren. Also surviving are his brothers, Dan (Jan) of Hamilton, Ont. and Andy (Lisa) of Fort Frances, Ont.; three sisters, Janet Godbout of Thunder Bay, Ont., Emily (Renald) Lauzier of Dryden, Ont., and Marilyn (Kim Morrison) of Fort Frances, Ont.; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, Alex Badiuk; two sisters, Anne in infancy in 1948 and Linda in 1979; and his first wife, Claudette (Vien) in 1994. ANDREW LINK By editorial Monday, 24 November 2008 - 3:03pm. Obituaries Andrew Link, 47, of Fort Frances, Ont., passed away Monday, Nov. 17, 2008 at La Verendrye Hospital in Fort Frances. He was born March 14, 1961 in London, Ont. to the late Arthur and Marie Link. He had worked as a logger and also was a “jack-of-all-trades.” He enjoyed fishing and camping, but music was his expression. Andrew also loved to philosophise with his friends, and his presence cheered people up. He was a deep, intellectual man who was passionate about he believed in, and his love for his children was unfathomable. He also was known to joke around with his family and friends, and was free-spirited, loving, and kind to all. Caramel, his “kitty,” loved him unconditionally. He has touched all of our lives with his special gift to make life wonderful. Left to cherish his memory are his two sons, Adam and Kevin Link, and partner, Candace Dokuchie. Also surviving are his brothers, Arthur and Joseph; sisters, Rebekah (Link) Gluth, Marie (Link) Fraser, Susan (Link) Walton, and Ester (Link) Ferriera; as well as many nieces and nephews. Il manquera beaucoup à ses deux filles: Rosa Gauvreau (Eugene) de Vancouver et Armande Savoie (Robert) de Pointe-Sapin; à ses cinq fils: Alderice (Danielle) de Dieppe, Donald (Linda) de Dieppe, Antonio (Raymonde) de Saint-Charles, Rheal (Denise) de Bouctouche et Marc (Sophie) de Quispamsis; 13 petits-enfants et quatre arrière-petits-enfants; deux soeurs: Ludivine Daigle (feu Alphonse) de Pointe-Sapin et Sr Aline Daigle, ndsc, de Dieppe, ainsi que plusieurs nièces et neveux. Son épouse, Marie-Louise Theriault (avril 1991), ainsi que trois soeurs: Louise, Marie Durelle (feu Hervin) et Edwidge en bas âge, l’ont précédé dans la tombe. Avant sa retraite, M. Daigle était livreur de courrier pour Poste Canada. Il a aussi été pêcheur, bûcheron et adorait aider ses voisins dans leur jardin. Il a été le fondateur du groupe "Les Frères Daigle.
