MUNRO, Renate - It is with heartbreaking sadness that we announce the passing of Renate Munro, peacefully at the Kingston General Hospital on Thursday November 13, 2008 at the age of 71. NOJNEN, Lea 2008-11-15 NOJONEN Mrs. Lea Nojonen , age 75 years of Walkover Street, passed away peacefully in St. Joseph’s Hospice on Wednesday, November 12, 2008. Born in Finland in 1933, Lea grew up there before immigrating to Canada in 1951. Once here, she took a job in the forestry industry where she worked for 37 years, retiring in 1997. Lea will be lovingly remembered by her daughters: JoAnne Valley and Dianne (Peter) Campbell; grandchildren: Reshelle and Tanner Valley; siblings: John (Aili) Nojonen, Timo (Susan) Nojonen, Maija Kuirinlahti, and Reima (Blanche) Nojonen. Numerous nieces; nephews and other relatives also survive. She was predeceased by her parents; her brother Matti in 1994; and her sister Ulla in infancy. Funeral Services for the late Lea Nojonen will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, November 18th in the Chapel of Harbourview Funeral Centre, 499 North Cumberland Street, officiated by Rev. Teemu Haataja. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be held one hour prior to Service time. WOZNIAK, Irene Stella 2008-11-15 1925 ~ 2008 Irene Stella Wozniak, age 83, passed away at Hogarth Riverview Manor on November 11, 2008, with her daughter, Helen, by her side. Irene was born in Warsaw, Poland on May 3, 1925. Irene survived World War II and prior to immigrating to Canada in 1949, she worked at a German Military Camp, employed by the American Government. There she met and married her husband Bruno who joined her in Canada in 1950. Bruno and Irene settled in Port Arthur and raised their family. Irene worked at the Port Arthur General Hospital, Dawson Court, and St. Joseph’s Heritage, retiring at age 65. Over the years Irene made many friends and anyone who has become acquainted with Irene speaks most highly of her. She was an excellent cook and baker and was well known for the perogies and cabbage rolls she made for various events. For a time Irene also ran the small kitchen in the lower level of the Polish Hall, where she was a member. She was devoted to her family and cherished her only granddaughter. Irene was predeceased by her husband Bruno in 2002, her parents, Pauline and Joseph Przewlocki, and numerous brothers and sisters in Poland. She is survived by her brother, Tadeuz (Poland), daughter Barbra Kaplanis (Eddie), daughter Helen Letourneau and granddaughter Chantelle Letourneau. Irene’s beautiful smile will be sadly missed by the staff at Hogarth Riverview Manor where she spent the last three years of her life. A memorial mass will be held on Tuesday, November 18, 2008 at 11:00 in St. Mary’s Queen of Poland Church, Algoma St. with Father Rieneusz Stadler officiating. A reception will follow at the Polish Hall on Court St. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be greatly appreciated. MALCOLM, Elaine Sheila - After a courageous battle with cancer, at her residence, with her family at her side on Tuesday, November 11, 2008 in her 58th year. Daughter of Dearl Malcolm of Denbigh and the late Eileen Malcolm (nee Grant). Beloved wife of William Cauchard of Belleville. SEPPALA, Nancy Letitia With great sadness the family announces the passing of Nancy Letitia (Letty) Seppala on Tuesday, November 4, 2008 at London Health Sciences Centre - Victoria Hospital in her 87th year. Letty is a graduate of Acadia University (1944) in Wolfville, Nova Scotia. She was happily married for 43 years to her favourite Mountie Vic who passed away in 1988. Beloved mother of Tom (Denise) of Edmonton, Alberta, Nancy Jane (Frank) of London, Ontario and Stephen (Pam) of London, Ontario. Cherished grandma of Jesse, Lee, Carly and Hayley. Predeceased by siblings Jack, Winnifred and David all from Nova Scotia. A private family service will be held. ADAM, Eric William October 1, 1935 - November 10, 2008 Eric Adam, beloved husband of Margaret Adam of Calgary, passed away on November 10, 2008 at the age of 73 years. Eric was born and raised in Glasgow, Scotland. He moved to Montreal, Quebec and then a few years later, in 1976, he moved to Calgary. He married Margaret Winton in 1961. Eric was proud to carry the Torch for the 1988 Olympics in Oliver, B.C. He also donated his time as Group Captain for the Heart and Stroke Foundation and the Canadian Cancer Society. Eric was predeceased by his parents Hugh and Christina Adam of Glasgow, Scotland in 1985. CARD, Joan March 1, 1927 - November 7, 2008 It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Joan Card. Joan is survived by her husband of sixty-three years Allan Card, her daughters Gail (Pat) Tkaczyk, Lynne (Phil) Dupont and her son Lee Card. She also leaves to mourn, her brother Ronnie Shannan, her brother-in-law Jimmy Tait, eleven grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her mother Mary Jane Shannan, her sisters Peggy Graham and Jean Tait and her daughter-in-law Elaine Bellingham-Card. Joan was born in Carlisle, England and moved to Canada as a war bride in 1946. She and Allan raised their family in Calgary and retired to Okanagan Falls, B.C. in 1981 to enjoy camping, bowling and fishing. The family would like to thank the staff in the Acute Care Unit of the Drayton Valley Hospital for their kind and compassionate care of Mom in her last days. Caryl Lee was born on February 15, 1942 in Brandon, MB. She and Mervin were married on August 14, 1965. GODZIC, Ireneusz "Irek" 1944 - 2008 Irek was born in Winiary, Poland on November 22, 1944. Our beloved father died peacefully on Tuesday, November 11, 2008 in Calgary at the age of 63. He was predeceased by his loving wife Krystyna in 1994 and his father Stanislaw in 2008. He is survived by and will be dearly missed by his sons Robert (Colette) and Jarek; five grandchildren, Christopher, Ashlee, Chelsea, Bri-ann and Michael; his mother, Irena; his sister and three brothers; nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends. Irek was active with his involvement in the Polish community. He devoted his time to music; playing the accordion as well as other instruments and his passion for his grandchildren. Irek immigrated to Canada in 1978 to establish a better future for his family. He had recently retired and continued his active lifestyle while enjoying several new ventures that life had offered him. Irek lived life to the fullest as he valued his many friendships and helped anyone who was in need. HALLIWELL, Walter Alex September 27, 1920 - November 10, 2008 Walter Alex Halliwell passed away in Invermere, B.C. of prostate cancer. His loving wife "Onie" predeceased him in December of 1999. He is lovingly remembered by his son Barry; son Dave and daughter-in-law Fiona and his four grandchildren: Conor, Lucy, Nicola and Meg; his sister "Sis" and her husband, Ernie French. SILER, A.L. "Bud" A.L. Bud Siler of Wetaskiwin, formerly of Champion, Alberta died peacefully, on November 11, 2008, following surgery. He is lovingly remembered by his wife and soulmate of sixty-one years, Anne; children, Richard (Star) of U.A.E., Don (Suzan) of Fitzroy Harbour, ON, Donna Siler of Wetaskiwin, Gaie (Jay) Goin of Millet, Marge (Dave) Leavey of Airdrie and special family, Bill, Helen and Deirdre. Bud will live on through his grandchildren, Nathan (Jamie), Kyle, Chelsea, Caryn (Dan), Sarah and Laura and his great-grandson, Silas. He is also survived by his sister, Irene Erdman and in-laws, Jim and Audrey, George and Racille; his extended family and numerous nieces and nephews. Bud was predeceased by his parents, Elbert and Bessie Siler and sister, June Burke. Bud proudly served in the 69th Transport of the Canadian Army in WWII in France and Belgium. As an avid sportsman, outdoors man and lifelong Lions Club member, Bud knew and enjoyed the friendship of everyone he met. He inherited a love of baseball from his father and as a pitcher, was known throughout southern Alberta. He was a great storyteller and an even better listener. His dedication to his family, friends and community was lived out through all his actions. Krulikewycz, Annie 2008-11-14 1926 - 2008 It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Mrs. Annie Krulikewycz on November 12, 2008 at the age of 82. Annie was born September 9, 1926, in Wirbiehy District Rawa Ruska near the city of Iwiv in Western Ukraine. She came to Canada in 1939 with her mother Eva and younger brother Walter. Annie enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family and took great pride in her raspberry bushes. She retired in 1971 from St. Joseph‘s Hospital. Annie will be missed by son Michael Kruchowski, sister Stella Miro (Bruno), sister-in-law Vera Kobryn, nephews and nieces, Jeff Miro, John and Jim Nelson, Barrie and David Kobryn, Sherri Asunmaa and Tracy Teskey as well as several great nieces and nephews. SZYJA, Katherine (Brown) 2008-11-14 It is with great sadness that the Szyja and Brown families of Katherine Szyja (Brown), age 36 years, passed away unexpectedly on November 11, 2008. Kathy was born in Thunder Bay, Ontario to her loving mother Linda, brothers Jamie, John and uncle Bill. Bob Brown and Katherine met on October 15, 1993. It was the best day of husband Bob‘s life. She loved and was devoted to her family and friends. Kathy touched everyone she came into contact with. Her love for her family and her caring nature made her the person most of us wish we could be. She never ever put herself first. Everyone else‘s feelings were here priority. Her love for Ryder, her nephew, was unconditional and complete. It can only be compared to a mother and child. Her dog Lady was a great source of joy and happiness for her. One glance at Lady is all one needs to understand the love and attention Kathy gave to her. How do I put something so wonderful and lovely into a few sentences? From the day I met her until the day God called her to his side, everyday was the best day of my life. Fifteen wonderful years together now seem to be one moment in time. Kathy was everything I wasn‘t and then some. She made me complete. Kathy helped me be something she could be proud of; she made me a better man. Kathy fulfilled all of my dreams and expectations. She was my everything; my world. Thank you for choosing to love me with all my faults. Thank you for sharing your entire being with me. Thank you for making me a good man. Kathy, my heart aches and my tomorrow‘s will never be as complete and fulfilling as my yesterday‘s with you. I will love you forever and ever and I will never, ever forget you baby. She will be deeply/sadly missed by her husband Bob, mother Linda Szyja, brothers John, Jamie and David, nephew Ryder (her pride and joy) and her uncle Bill who was more of a father than an uncle to her. Ola Babineau 1925-2008 A l'Hôpital régional Dr-G.-L. Dumont le vendredi 14 novembre 2008, à l'âge de 82 ans, suite d'une courte maladie, est décédé Ola Babineau, domicilié à Grand-Barachois. Né le 7 décembre 1925 à Robichaud, il était le fils de feu Adelard "Eddée" Babineau et de feu Alida Lirette. Il laisse dans le deuil quatre soeurs: Louise Landry de Shédiac, Thérèse Krebs d' Alexandria, Virginie, Florence Staples d'Ottawa, ON et Marie Mai Fisher de Markham, ON, plusieurs belles-soeurs, beaux-frères; ainsi que plusieurs nièces et neveux. Marc Cloutier The funeral service for Hearst trucker Marc Cloutier, 67, was held Nov. 7, 2008. He died Nov. 2 at Notre-Dame Hospital from an illness. Born Dec. 6, 1940 in St-Joseph-de-Kamouraska, Québec, he was described by family as a positive, patient, courageous person and self-employed transport driver devoted to his work and family. He was predeceased by his father Gérard in 1975, brothers Bertrand and Gilles Cloutier in 1993 and 2000 respectively, a nephew Pascal Bélanger in 2000, and brother-in-law Bertrand Caron in 1999, He leaves his mother Simone Bélanger of Val-d’Or, Qué., wife Louiselle Maheux of Hearst, daughter Andréanne Cloutier of Hearst, son Marc-Antoine Cloutier of Hearst, daughter Lisa Henry of Hearst, and a granddaughter Chykeisha and grandson Delroy, both of Hearst. Also surviving are his sisters Mariette (Pierre) Bélanger of Matagami, Qué., Fernande (Gaston) Caron, Françoise (André) Morneau and Nicole Cloutier, all of Val-d’Or, and Sylvie Cloutier of LaSalle, Qué.; brothers Raymond (Micheline) of Amos, Qué, Claude (Francine) of Lebel-sur-Quévillon, Qué., and Jacques (Madeleine) Cloutier of Duparquet, Qué,; sisters-in-law Linda (Maurice Lebel) Maheux of Mattice and Jacinthe (Luc Poulin) Maheux Poulin, all of Hearst; mother-in-law Jeannine Lacasse of Hearst; father-in-law Lucien (Bernadette) Maheux of Smooth Rock Falls; and several nieces and nephews. Rev. René Grandmont presided the liturgy, assisted by Rev. Rémi Lessard, at Notre-Dame-de-l’Assomption Cathedral. Interment followed at Monsignor Pierre Grenier Cemetery.
