FREAMO, Bernard Ellwood (Woody) Retired Secretary General of the Canadian Medical Association Retired President and CEO of MD Management RCAF Veteran WWII Peacefully, surrounded by his loving family in Ottawa, on Saturday, October 18, 2008, at the age of 85. Beloved husband of the late Lily, devoted father of Terry, Peter (Kathy), Linda (Mark Keill), Michelle (Ron Seguin), cherished grandfather of Amanda, Trevor, Connor, Brittany and Brooke. Dear brother of the late Ken Fremont (Maxine), Melvin Fremont (Ann), the late Ernest (Doris) and Gerald (Beverly). Also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. CUNLIFFE, Lillian B. (nee Taylor) After a courageous and lengthy battle with Parkinson's disease, passed away peacefully on October 18th at the age of 86. Beloved wife of the late Leonard Cunliffe, and a long-time Westboro resident. She will be greatly missed by her sons David (Wendy) and Rick (LuAnn) and by her sister and best friend, Hilda Ashbee. All her grandchildren; Karen (Brian), Rob (Kate), Amanda, Jenne and Curtis, as well as her great-grandchildren Ava, Maxwell and Brooke will miss their granny. The family are grateful to Dr. Lisa Cross, the New Orchard Lodge and Unitarian House for their support in the last phase of her life. NARDO, Guido 2008-10-20 Mr. Guido Nardo, age 78 years of John Street, passed away peacefully in the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre, on Thursday, October 16, 2008. Guido was born in Aviano Pordenone, Italy in 1930. He grew up there, immigrating to Canada in 1954, and worked construction in Toronto for a year before moving to Port Arthur, He was then employed in area bush camps and later, worked as a carpenter in construction. Guido had returned to Italy in 1958 to marry his wife Anna and they returned to Canada and raised their family. Guido continued to work, retiring in 1989. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved the outdoors. Guido was also a long time member of Societa Italiana Principe Di Piemonte at the DA VINCI CENTRE. Guido will be lovingly remembered by Anna, his wife of 50 years; son Albert (Patti Ann) of Texas; daughters: Viviana and Susan (David) Burch of St. Catharines; grandchildren: Keith and Kevin Nardo, Evan Nardo, Michael and Matthew Burch; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives as well as his special niece Issabella (Rodolfo) Crezenzo. He was predeceased by his parents Giacomo and Anna Nardo, and his sisters Giovanna And Guiditta. Funeral Services for the late Guido Nardo will be held on Monday, October 20, 2008 with Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. in Corpus Christi Roman Catholic Church, 664 Red River Road, celebrated by Fr. Alan Albao. Visitation for family and friends will be at the church held one hour prior to the time of Service. Entombment will take place in Our Lady of Charity Mausoleum at St. Andrew‘s Catholic Cemetery. MIKKOLA, Katherine “Katri” 2008-10-20 Mrs. Katherine “Katri” Mikkola, age 80 years of Nipigon, passed away peacefully in Roseview Manor on Friday, October 17, 2008. Katherine was born in Port Arthur in 1928 and grew up in Nolalu. She married in the late 1940‘s, later moving to Nipigon where she raised her family. Katherine had worked as a dryer operator at the Multiply Mill for over 20 years, and then later at the Nipigon Hospital in the laundry department until her retirement as a supervisor in the early 1990‘s. Katherine enjoyed curling, bowling, and fishing in her earlier years, and more recently, berry picking, knitting, crotchetting, and all the traveling she could. Katherine will be lovingly remembered by her children: Ron (Kaarina), and Arlene (Mike) Godin; grandchildren: Dale, Kevin (Lori), Doug (Karen) and Nick; great grandchildren: Erika, Ray-Ann, Wesley, Lauren, Jonah, Brandon, Zachary, Hailey, and Aiden. Numerous other relatives also survive as well as her special niece Lavaughn and her son Patrick. She was predeceased by her husband of almost 30 years, Arnie, who passed away in 1977; son Raymond in 2006; her parents; brother Charlie; and sister Gertie. Funeral Services for the late Katherine Mikkola will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 21st, 2008 in the Chapel of Harbourview Funeral Centre, 499 North Cumberland Street. DUTCHAK, Janet 2008-10-20 JANET “BETTY” ELIZABETH DUTCHAK, nee WILSON August 11, 1928 - October 17, 2008 Mrs. Betty Dutchak, age 80 years, of 339 Shuniah Street, Thunder Bay, passed away peacefully in the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre on Friday, October 17, 2008. Betty was born in Toronto, and came to live with her parents in Fort William at a very early age. It was here that Betty received her education and went on to graduate from the Port Arthur General Nursing Program in 1949. Her career as a nurse spanned over a period of thirty years, working at all the local hospitals, and concluding her nursing career in the office of Dr. John Nickerson. Betty will be lovingly remembered by Nick, her husband of fifty-seven years; son Cameron, daughter Janet (Neil), son Nick (Pam); grandchildren: Jessica Erin, Cole, Elyse, Jessica Ann Nicole, Bradley and great granddaughter Kailee. She is also survived by stepbrother Don McGregor of Ottawa. Numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive. Betty was predeceased by her father Harry Cameron Wilson and mother Lydia Wilson, as well as her stepmother Bessie Wilson. Betty lived a full and wonderful life, enjoying many happy times with family and friends boating, camping and travelling. Her main focus was always family and in her later years her greatest joy were her grandchildren. She leaves behind many fond memories of times spent camping with the family and "the gang" at Burchell Lake, Black Sturgeon Lake, and Kab Lake. Betty and Nick spent most of their retirement years travelling with close friends to exotic places such as Hawaii, Antigua, San Andros, Grand Cayman and Mexico. Finally, in the latter years, they purchased a home in Arizona where they wintered until Betty’s health made it too difficult to travel. Following cremation, Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, October 22, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Harbourview Funeral Centre, 499 North Cumberland Street, presided by Rev. David Silliman of Knox United Church. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the time of service. Should friends so desire, in lieu flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Thunder Bay. Betty Dutchak will be sadly missed by everyone whose life she touched.

Husband of the late Fran (Annis) Campbell, father of Frederick Paul Campbell of Hamilton and Stephen Douglas Campbell (Tanice) of Paris, Ontario, grandfather of Graeme and Ryan, dear brother of Mary Olivia (Campbell) Farrar of Port Colborne, loved uncle of Donald William Farrar (Louise) of Dunnville and Carol Marie Farrar of Stevensville, great uncle of Kaitlyn Dawn (Farrar)Perecko (Adam) and Daniel Taylor Farrar, cousin of Joan Baker, Sharon Matesic, Margaret Young, Peter Winn, Sandy Winn and Wallace Winn. Predeceased by his parents Frederick William and Olivia (Winn) Campbell. Special friend of Ike Pritchard of Pennsylvania and Gary Martinsen and Gibby Judd of Florida. Fred worked in retail management at Walker Stores in Port Colborne, Towers and Stedman's until his retirement as Regional Manager. Fred spent his winters in Naples Florida, and summers at his beloved camp at McLarens Bay in Northern Ontario. He will be lovingly remembered by his family and friends for his quick wit, his sense of humour, his love of music, the outdoors and hunting and fishing. NEMETH, Mary Elizabeth (Toth) - With her beloved husband Joe of 58 years by her side, Mary slipped peacefully away at the BGH in her 78th year, surrounded by her family and caregiver Elizabeth. Even though Mary had suffered a stroke in January, 2005 which limited her physically, her keen wit, humour and love for others never faltered, with her many visits to the Adult Recreation Therapy Centre (ARTC) being an anticipated event. Her positive outlook, coupled with a kind and generous heart, represents a blessed legacy to her four daughters and their husbands: Judy and Ken Shelley, Nancy and Ron Munro, Vicky Collins, Cathy and Sherm Richardson. She will be greatly missed by her 16 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren who have precious and lasting memories of visiting with their “Nan“ on the farm and being spoiled with great Hungarian cooking. A longtime Lively resident, she had been a member of the Trinity United Church. She was a past member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. Barb was an active person who was quick to help others. She had been a volunteer at the Public Library and the Canadian Cancer Society and a subscriber at the Sudbury Theater Center. Her interests included playing bridge, bowling, knitting, walking, reading and Tai Chi. Beloved wife of Harvard Mellow predeceased 2002. Loving mother of David (wife Jackie) of Melbourne, Australia and Rob (wife Cindy) of Warren. Cherished “Gram“ of Sarah and Daniel. Sadly missed by the Bourke Family in Australia. La famille accueillera les parents et ami(e)s le lundi 20 octobre 2008 de 14h à 17h et de 19h à 22h et le mardi 21 octobre 2008 de 9 h à 10h30 à l'Alliance funéraire du Royaume Résidence Ste-Claire 345, rue St-Armand Chicoutimi Les funérailles auront lieu le mardi 21 octobre 2008 à 11h à l'église de St-David-de-Falardeau. Il sera incinéré au crématorium de l'Alliance funéraire du Royaume et les cendres inhumées au cimetière paroissial. Il laisse dans le deuil son épouse Julie-Anna Bouchard, ses enfants: Gilles Fortin (Oriette Rochefort), Claude (Aline Bouchard), Louise (Mario Duchesne), Hélène (feu Gilles Duchesne, Adrien Lamer), Diane (Claude Plante), Johanne; ses petits-enfants: Dany, Michel, Christine, Marie-Josée, Steeven, Michaël, Henrick, Jérémy, Cathy, Yoan, Jimmy; ses arrière- petits-enfants: Ann-Frédérique, Marie-Pierre, William, Patrice et Raphaël. Il était le frère de: feu Charles-Édouard Fortin (feu Lucienne Tremblay), Simone (Roland Lavoie), feu Laurent (feu Pierrette Aubin), Almas (Lucienne Aubin), Thérèse (feu Paul Gagné) et Andrée (feu Pierre Desbiens, feu Pierre Fortin). Il était le beau-frère de: feu Dominique Bouchard (Yvonne Ringuette), Marie-Josephe (feu Gérard Tremblay), feu Jean-Victor (feu Henriette Vincelette), Rosanita (feu Lionel Tremblay), feu Élisabeth (feu Germain Gaudreault), feu Marthe (Marcel Émond), Martha (Philippe Hudon), Madeleine (Gérard Blackburn), feu Christian, Marie-Émilie (feu Victor Tremblay) et Clara (Claude Lavoie). Il laisse également dans le deuil de nombreux neveux, nièces, parents et ami(e)s. Pour les personnes désireuses d'offrir des dons, une personne bénévole de la Fondation de ma vie (département d'hémato-oncologie) sera présente au salon funéraire afin de les recueillir.
