Born in Ste- Anne New Brunswick in 1947, daughter of the late Angelina (Roy) and William Gagnon, she worked for Libby-St. Clair Glass for many years and was a member of the Ladies of Ste-Anne. She will be sadly missed by: her loving children, Guilda Dubois-Ziler and husband James of Lucan and Immanuel and companion Sheila Mason of Welland, 9 grandchildren, Timothy, Philippe, David, Nicola, Adam, Ryan, Ricky, Deidre and William and 3 sisters, Jeanette Gagnon of California, Regina Bernard and husband Jerry of Chatham and Adienne Gravel and husband Ron of Maine as well as 3 brothers Fernand Gagnon and wife Bertha of Chatham, Alfred Gagnon of New Brunswick and Ronald Gagnon of Chatham. CONFIANT, Francis Joseph (Frank) - With heavy hearts we announce the sudden but peaceful passing of Frank on Friday October 10th at the NHS Greater Niagara General site at 81 years of age. A deeply religious man Frank left this world with the acceptance that his Lord would be waiting to greet him in heaven. Frank's reason for existence was his large and loving family. For 59 years he was the beloved husband of Irma (MacAuley), the dearly loved father of six Francine (David), Nancy (Grant), Linda, John (Darla), Joe and Spring (Scott). Loved Papa of Melissa, Frank, Carrie, Rickie, Randy, Russell, Ryan, Reggie, Candee, Gregory, Katie, Brettany, Joshua, Hope, Shane, and Christopher and of great- grandchildren Lauren, Cameron, Callie, Colin, Tim, Isabelle, Reilly, Logan and Skylee. Frank is survived by his sister Mary Mleczko and was pre-deceased by sisters Sadie Blinkhorn, Theresa MacMullin and Martha Steele. Frank retired from General Motors Plant Security after more than forty years of service. He was a member St. Julia's Church, St. Mary of the Assumption Church and was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus, St. Felix Council 8378, St. Vincent DePaul Society and the Ushers Club of St. Mary's. Cremation has taken place. A mass to celebrate Frank's life will be held at 11:00 am on Friday October 17th at St. Julia's Church, 215 Glenridge Avenue. A reception will follow in the church hall. As per Frank's wishes his family will return his remains to his hometown North Sydney, Nova Scotia for internment at a later date. BLISS, Ronald Gordon 1927 - 2008 It is with stunned sadness we announce the sudden passing for our dear Father, grand and great-grandfather, Ronald Gordon Bliss, 81, of Viking, AB on Wednesday, October 8, 2008 of a staph infection at the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Edmonton. Ron was predeceased by his wife of fifty years, Kittie Bliss in 2000. Left to grieve our unexpected loss are his daughter Debbra and son-in-law Graeme Robinson of Calgary; son Ken and daughter-in-law Roseanne Bliss of Edmonton; daughter Georgia and son-in-Law Hugh Humphries of Vancouver; his grandson Dylan of Calgary; his grandchildren Kevin (Pat) Bliss, David Bliss, Camille (Scott) King of Edmonton, five great-grandchildren, two brothers, Myron and Wallace, their families and many nieces and nephews. Dad was born in Youngstown, AB and as a child lived in various Alberta towns before settling in Calgary as a handsome, young man, where he met and married Kittie. After the war Dad became a professional butcher and in the 1960's a Calgary Transit Bus Driver as well as running a successful Antique Store in Bridgeland. In the 1970's he bought an oat field by Langdon and turned it into rainbow Acres, where he again found a love for cattle. At fifty-three years of age Dad sold the acreage and moved to Viking. Over twenty years he and Mom turned the beaten down farm into a well groomed, flourishing mixed farm. Dad was very proud of his success in raising outstanding and sought after purebred limousine cattle. During those active farming years Dad also drove the Beaver County/Battle River school bus. In 2002 Dad sold the farm and returned to his love of antiques and for the second time in his life created not one but two successful antique stores. Funeral Services will be held at the Viking Alliance Church at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 15, 2008. A reception will follow. CHILD, John Henry George - Passed away peacefully on Friday October 10, 2008 at Oakwood Park Lodge, at the age of 93. Dearly beloved husband of Vera for 45 years. Loving father of Patricia Rose of Vancouver, BC and James Smith (Mary Ann) of Vernon, BC and brother of Joyce Martin of Australia. Fondly remembered by five grandchildren and many great grandchildren. The family will receive friends at HETHERINGTON & DEANS FUNERAL CHAPEL, 5176 Victoria Ave. on Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. A memorial service under the auspices of Loyal Order of Moose 1231 will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday evening at 7:30. COLLINS, Murray Alston - “Slipped away” peacefully at the Sault Area Hospital (General Site) on Friday, October 10, 2008. Murray was the best friend and companion of Sharon Uschenko. Devoted loving husband of the late Phyllis. He was the beloved father of Cathy Martin (Charlie), Claudia Wade (Terry) and Shelley Hodgkinson (Rob). “Perfect” generous grandfather of Conni Sugden (Michael), Morgan Wade (Nancy), Maya Scott (Chris), Cliffe Hodgkinson (Sharon), Maureen Renaud (Nicholas) and the proud great grandpa of a dozen. Murray leaves behind many dear friends including Johnny Uschenko and family, Andy Uschenko and family and Sheila Whiteway and family. Murray was a legion member for many years. A private funeral service was held at the ARTHUR FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE. Memorial donations may be made to the Sault Area Hospital whose staff on 5th, 2nd and 3rd as well as the emergency room cared so well for Murray these past several months. TRIP, Jan (John) - Passed away on October 9, 2008 in Toronto, Ontario Canada. He was born on August 6, 1925 in Stad Kanaal Holland. He lived in Holland until 1949, when he came to Canada with his wife Harmke (Ann) and his two year old son Luke. After travelling across the country they landed in Brantford, Ontario where they had two more children John and Katherine. Jan was a man of many talents working in retail, farming the land and finally establishing his own furniture refinishing business. He was pre deceased by his wife Harmke (Ann). He leaves behind his sons Luke, John (Brenda) and daughter Katherine. He also leaves behind his grandchildren Carrie, Peter, Anna, Helen, Katherine, Lucas and Caleb as well as his great grandchildren Austin and Emily. He is dearly loved and will be missed by all. Visitation one hour prior to service. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, October 14, 2008 in the BERNARDO FUNERAL HOMES (ALBION CHAPEL) 855 Albion Road (One Block East of Islington Ave.) at 2 PM. Cremation to follow.
