ROB, Gerry 2008-10-09 In loving memory of Gerry Rob of Quibell Ontario, who passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, October 2, 2008. Born in Holland on June 22, 1928, she came to Canada in early 1947 as a war bride. Gerry married John Alexander Rob on May 29, 1947 and together they raised six children on a small farm in Quibell. She and John spent many years owning and operating school buses in the area. Gerry was predeceased by her parents Hendricka and Jacob Van Rootselaar in Holland and her husband John. She is survived by her children; Ricky Marchiorello (George), Jack (Angie), Richard (Karen), Ron (Ruth), Dan (Barb), Art (Sue) and by her grandchildren Dean, Jason, Alyson, Travis, Hannah, Erika, Daniel, Christopher, Neil, Justin and her great-grandchildren Ethan, Abigail, Adam, Sydney, Olivia and Isabella. Gerry is also survived by her sister Willy and Jan Van Dijk in Holland and her brother-in-law Harry Rob and his wife Betty. Numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and close friends also survive. To celebrate Gerry‘s life, a memorial service will be held on October 11, 2008 at the Quibell Community Centre. If friends so desire, donations may be made to the Dryden Regional Health Centre CT scanner fund through the Dryden Community Funeral Home, 249 Grand Trunk Avenue, Dryden, Ontario P8N 2X3.

LECLAIR, Lucien 1932 - 2008 C'est avec une grande tristesse que nous vous annonçons le décès de M. Lucien Leclair, époux de Gisèle Blondin. Sereinement, livrant un courageux combat contre le cancer et entouré des siens, il nous a quittés le vendredi 3 octobre 2008 à l'âge de 76 ans, le jour de leur 55e anniversaire de mariage. Il laisse dans le deuil ses enfants, de Maniwaki Marc-André (Linda Robitaille), de Boisbriand Joanne (Leonardo Romano) et ses deux petits-enfants Simon et Valérie, de Boisbriand Jocelyne (Réjean Desharnais), de Maniwaki Martine (Robert Ledoux), sa belle-mère Florence Rivest Blondin, ses deux frères Henri (Pierrette Labelle) et Fabien (Georgianna Landry), sa soeur Pierrette (Jean-Guy Alarie), sa belle-soeur Gisèle Grenier (feu Paul-Aimé Leclerc), sa belle-famille Pierre-Paul Blondin (Denise Arelle), Thérèse Blondin, Aurèle Lapalme (feu Réjeanne Blondin), Réal Blondin ainsi que de nombreux parents, amis et frères Chevaliers. Il fut Président des Roulottes Ste-Anne de 1969 à 1995, Grand Chevalier Fondateur du Conseil 7044 de Sainte-Anne-des-Plaines et Commandant de l'Assemblée Conrad J. Chaumont. Grandement apprécié de tous, il fut très impliqué socialement ce qui lui a mérité la médaille de l'Ordre du Gouverneur Général du Canada en 1993. Ses nombreuses qualités humaines auront fait de lui un homme dévoué, toujours prêt à aider les gens de sa communauté et de tout son entourage. MIX, Helena (nee Warkentine) February 22, 1915 - September 9, 2008 Helena Mix nee Warkentine, beloved and loving wife of Emmanuel Mix of sixty-one years went home to be with her Lord and Saviour after a short illness at the age of 93 years at Abbotsford Regional Hospital on September 9, 2008. Helena was the oldest born to Helena and Gerhard Warkentine at Orekhov, Russia (now apart of Ukraine). She came to Canada with her family in November 1926. Helena is survived by her dear husband Emmanuel Mix; three sisters Kate Stevenson, Edmonton, Martha Bridges, Sand Point, Idaho, Kathleen and one brother Jack (Frieda) Warkentine, Calgary, Alberta. Helena was predeceased by her parents; three sisters Anne Warkentine, Elizabeth Giesbrecht, Maria Kyllo and one brother George Warkentine. Interment was at the Hazelwood Cemetery on September 30 with Reverend Don Merrett officiating. Marcellus, Hilda Audrey Peacefully at Dundas Manor on Tuesday, October 7, 2008 in her 96th year. Dearly loved wife of the late Aden Marcellus. Beloved mother of Dale and his wife Barbara and Graham and his wife Doris all of Nepean. Her grandchildren Kevin, Anne, Stephen, Joanne, Jeffrey and James will always remember the Grandma who among other things made quilts, knit sweaters and baked wonderful treats for them. She also leaves 8 loved great-grandchildren and her dear sister Ruth Casselman. She was predeceased by her parents, Howard and Ethel Merkley, her sisters Gertrude (Trude) Barkley, Rena and Edna Merkley. Hilda lived her life in the Iroquois area, loved her family and was a valued member of her church and community. BROWN, Jean Jean passed away at home in Kanata on October 6, 2008. She was surrounded by her family and her lovely nurse, Caroline. To the end she was aware and engaged in the world around her. Her great sense of humour and love of life were abundantly evident. She had a long and full life with her husband Cameron and four children, Gordon (Barbara), Peter (Elona), Chris and Suzanne (Paul). She also loved and was loved by her sister Nora, her four grandchildren, Lindsay, Nicholas, Laura, Alex and her great grand daughter, Ava. Thanks to Melanie from CCAC and her many caregivers who helped ease and enrich her journey. Thank you to friends and neighbours whose support is greatly appreciated. Love you always Jean. OBITUARY JEAN CLARKE-MacLEAN (nee BLACK) June 24, 1920 October 7, 2008 Jean was predeceased by her beloved husbands George Foster Clarke in April 1972 and James Aubrey MacLean in May 1992. She leaves her loving children Robert and Kathleen Clarke of Edmonton, Mary-Lou and Bill Farr of Red Deer, Douglas and Jocelyn Clarke of Pointe Claire and Diane and Brian Gurnham of Edmonton. Jean was much loved and was privileged to enjoy ten Clarke grandchildren and three great-granddaughters. Jean also leaves her three loving step-children Heather and Robb Paterson of Winnipeg, Wendy and Andrew Nation of Pointe Claire and Christopher and Myrna MacLean of Senneville and seven much loved MacLean grandchildren. Her families brought her much joy. While serving with the Canadian Red Cross Corps in England during WWII, Jean met and married George Clarke. Jean started her happy and busy life in Montreal in April 1946 when George returned from Overseas. In 1981 Jean married Bishop James MacLean and much appreciated the privilege of being a part of his wonderful ministry. A memorial service in celebration of life will be held at St. John the Baptist Church, 233 Ste-Claire, Pointe Claire, QC, H9S 4E3 on Saturday, October 11, 2008 at 11 a.m. Family will receive friends one hour before service. A reception will be held at the church following the service. Elle était la fière grand-mère de 10 petits-enfants et l'arrière-grand-mère de 13 arrière-petits-enfants. Lui survivent également un frère, André (Laurence Lamoureux); une soeur, Cécile (Roger Guindon); un beau-frère, Lucien Desforges et deux belles-soeurs: Georgette Lortie et Simone Ranger. Elle fut prédécédée par ses frères et soeurs: Adrien, Philippe, Clément, Raymond, Alban, Bernard, Jean-Paul, Annette et Blanche. De plus, elle laisse plusieurs neveux et nièces. LAMBERT, Harold James - Born November 10, 1936. Peacefully on October 6, 2008 with his sister, Joan Shepherd, on behalf of his family in Ontario, surrounded him with love and respect as he started another great journey. Sandy Campbell a long-time friend and Shane Stobbe, his foreman, sat through the long vigil as over 30 of Harold's work family stopped by to pay their last respects. Originally from Kingston, Ontario, Harold spent many years in Fort St. John, B.C. He is survived by a son, Hugh (Gillian) Lambert, and 2 grandchildren, Clay and Taylor, all of Wilcox, Saskatchewan; sisters, Mary Elizabeth “Betty” Irish of Napanee, Ontario, and Mrs. Joan (Roy) Shepherd of Godfrey, Ontario. Fondly remembered by his close friends, Barb and Yvon Chaput of Fort St. John, B.C. He was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Mary Lambert of Godfrey, and 1 brother, Kenneth. Harold “Hal”, in his capacity of Journeyman Pipefitter, traveled to many parts of Canada and the USA. He spent the last 6 years with the Sustaining Projects Firebag Team, and was currently in charge of the project's tool cribs, using his vast experiences to educate and keep the crews safe at Firebag. At Harold's request, there will be a graveside service only, to be held at St. Mary's Cemetery in Kingston, Ontario, at a later date. A talented seamstress, Marion also assisted her husband, Gordon, with set decorations and costumes for various little theatre productions over the years. STEVENS, Roger Bryan - At North Bay General Hospital Scollard site on Tuesday, October 7, 2008 in his 76th year. Cherished husband of Patricia Stevens (nee Morin) and loving father of Mark (Shelley), Louise (Greg), Thom (Mischa) and Marie (Don). He will be sadly missed by grandchildren Sandi, Kristin, Kaela, Kyle, Tyler, Lukas, Markus and Jonas and great-grandchildren Kaitlynn and Max. Roger was predeceased by his parents, Gordon and Phyllis. Born in Cochrane, Ont., Roger was happiest as a youngster paddling his canoe up Lake Temagami from the family island. After high school in Cobalt, Ont. he joined the RCAF and worked as a technician on fighter squadrons in Bagotville, Comox, Edmonton and Cold Lake. He left the forces in 1961 to join the family business of running a Coca- Cola bottling plant in Cobalt. After the plant was sold in 1972 he had a career in office management in North Bay and Calgary and retired as secretary/manager of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 23. He will be sadly missed by anyone touched by his smile and wry sense of humour and we are all better for having him in our lives. KONKLE, Larry Richard - Suddenly at West Lincoln Memorial Hospital, Grimsby on Monday October 6, 2008, Larry Konkle of Beamsville, age 60 years. THOMAS, Jacqueline Davey (nee Young) - March 7, 1939 - October 7, 2008. It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our loving wife, mother, grandma & sister. Jackie passed away suddenly on October 7, after a 2 year battle with cancer. She will be deeply missed by Howard, her husband of 45 years, her children Lesley (Andrew) & Derek (Sandra) & grandchildren Cian, Aiden, Spencer, Summer & Hunter. Jackie was born in Penitcton, BC, the daughter of Jack & Ruth Young & sister of Pat Johnsen of Surrey, BC. She graduated from Penticton High School & from the Vancouver General Hospital School of Nursing. She moved to Montreal where she met her husband, and after his training in ophthalmology, they settled down in the Niagara Pennisula. While there she worked for the Niagara Regional Public Health Department as a school nurse for 20 years. Her passion was golf but nothing was more important to her than her family and her loyalty to her many friends. A special thanks to the Cancer Clinic at the Nanaimo Regional Hospital & to her caring physician, Dr. J Atherstone. I Remember Jackie, a Celebration of her life, will be held locally at some future date. Cremation has already taken place.
