RAYMOND, Laura (née Dion) - a quitté ce monde subitement, le vendredi 3 octobre 2008, a l'âge de 86 ans. Épouse de feu Adrien Raymond, elle laisse dans le deuil, son petit frère, Gilles (Monique Sabourin) qu'elle a élevé comme son fils, 14 enfants: Marie-Thérèse (Marcel Liard), Hector (Estelle Boucher), Guy, Colette, Donald (Majella Héroux), René (Rina Michaud), Jean-Marc (Ruth Hansen), Denise (Ron Lebel), Pierrette (Jim Johnston), Guylaine, Nicole (Paul Chénier), Monique (Serge Labranche), Andrée (Jean-Guy Arbour) et Francine (Luc Brousseau) ainsi que 41 petits-enfants et 42 arrière petits-enfants. Elle va rejoindre ses frères : Aimé, René et Fernand (Ti-Coq). Grande amatrice de pêche, de hockey et des ‘darts', elle a su profiter de la vie à plein. Partie de ce monde, elle demeurera toujours dans nos coeurs afin de guider nos gestes d'amour envers nos proches. BAFFARI, Lucia - Passed away at the Greater Niagara General Hospital on Thursday October 2, 2008 at the age of 85. Beloved wife of 63 years to Antonio “Tony” Baffari. Dearly loved mother of Teresa (Antonino “Tony”) Lucisano and Lisa Baffari of Niagara Falls. Cherished Nonna of Carmen (Lee-Ann) Lucisano, Maria (Gaetano) DeBenedetti, Lucia Lucisano (Tony Romano) and Anthony (Donna) Lucisano, all of Niagara Falls and Bisnonna of Cristina, Daniela, Matteo and Dante. Dear sister-in-law of Giuseppe Baffari, Rosaria Beluscio and Lucia (Ercole) Schiro, all of Italy. Lovingly remembered by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents Antonio and Luisa Grimolizzi, her sisters-in- law Assunta Baffari and Grazia Calandriello and her husband Nobile and her brother-in- law Antonio Beluscio. Mrs. Baffari enjoyed cooking and baking for her family and especially enjoyed family gatherings. She left her family a legacy of love and kindness for which she will be long remembered. ROMANO, Sister Benedetta (Catharine), I.B.V.M.- Peacefully at Loretto Infirmary, Toronto on September 30, 2008 in her 81st year as a member of the Institute of the Blessed Virgin Mary (Loretto Sisters), daughter of the Late Vincenzo Romano and Benedetta Marro. Predeceased by her sisters Rose (Leo) Moscati, Frances (Guido) D'Aloise, Julia (Vincent) Mancuso, Elvira Romano, brother Frank Romano, brothers-in-law Albert Smylski, Albert Chimento, Armand Castellani and Chuck Davies. Survived by sisters Marjorie Davies, Mary Smylski, Eleanor Castellani, Virginia (Dan) Sidorchuk, sister-in-law Anne Romano, brothers Gerard (Beryl) Romano and Paul (Jenny) Romano, plus many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. MIDGLEY, Ethel - 1916-2008 - Died at Hamilton General Hospital on Friday, September 26th, 2008 in her 92nd year. Daughter of Frederick and Lulu May Crealy of Strathroy, Ontario. Predeceased by devoted husband Robert Weston Midgley, daughter Jane, sisters Caroline, Laura May and Phyllis (child) and brother William Crealy. Survived by beloved sister Alice Wadsworth of Hamilton. Much loved mother to son Robert (Judy) of Toronto and daughter Ellen (David) Taylor of Flamborough, Ontario. Fond sister-in-law to Mae Midgley and the late Durward Midgley of Simcoe, Ontario. Ethel is fondly remembered by her nieces and nephews, John Midgley (Betty), Zee Midgley, and Phillip (Fay), Jerold (Stella), Brian (Lori), and Patricia Wadsworth. She received her R.N. in nursing from Hamilton General Hospital in 1938. After marrying, Ethel and Robert raised their family in Paris, Ontario, where she worked at the Willett Hospital for which she was a proud supporter. Heartfelt thanks to the staff at the Hamilton General for the gentle and compassionate care to Ethel and her family in her last days. PENNY, Rita Ann - With broken hearts, her family announces the passing of Rita Penny, on Thursday October 2, 2008 at the Stedman Community Hospice. Devoted wife of Ted Mazurek. Loving mother to Eddie, Michael and David all of Brantford. Daughter of Gerald and the late Rose Penny (1993). Much loved sister to Margaret (Aubrey) Beaver of Nova Scotia, Jeanette (Dave) McKay of Canning, Diane (Jack) Penny, Gary Penny and Ron (Kara) Penny all of Brantford; and dear sister-in-law to Patty (Dan) Tremblay, Cathy (Mike) Dominato, John (Mel) Mazurek and their families. Rita was a true loving spirited woman that touched many lives. She was a dedicated employee of Hussmans, Bell Canada and The Canada Employment Centre for many years. She also volunteered with Brantford Minor Lacrosse, Brantford Church Hockey, Brantford Minor Hockey and the Christmas Baskets. KOEMAN, John Petrus Sr. - Of St. Catharines passed away peacefully in his sleep at the St. Catharines General Hospital on Friday October 3, 2008 in his 88th year. Teresa was an extraordinary lady with a big heart and spirit that was admired by all. She was 80 years old and a loving and devoted wife of 60 years to the late Domenic (February 2008). Alice, (formerly of Montreal,) was predeceased by her beloved husband, Eric and her treasured son Lloyd. WALSH-NEALE, Amelia (nee Bradshaw). Almost made it to 100! We lost a lovely caring lady on September 22, 2008 in her ninety-eighth year. Millie always put others' needs first and lived a life of acceptance with humour. Predeceased by husbands Michael Walsh and Leslie Neale. Devoted mother of Michael (Jennifer) Bruce (Nancy) and inspirational Nana to Lisa, Amy and Andrew. Lovingly remembered by Bonnie and Suzanne and their families who adored their Gramma. MORTON, Anne (nee Robertson). 1930-2008. Peacefully at the palliative care wing of the Cornwall Community Hospital on September 23, 2008. She leaves to mourn her children David (Sue), Tim (Paulette) and Beth (Gregg) also her grandchildren, Christopher, Kelly and Noah, and dear friend Dorothy (Dot). Anne was a former teacher with the P.S.B.G.M. for 26 years and a volunteer with the Montreal General Hospital for 25 years. JONES, Donald R. Age forty-six, of Cave Spring, Georgia passed away on Monday, September 29, 2008 at a local hospital. Donald was born in Granby, Quebec on September 13, 1962, son of Georgina Riddick Laurie and Albert Jones. He spent his childhood in Verdun. He retired from the United States Navy 2004. He was a beloved husband and devoted father. OBITUARY HEINZ JURGEN MICHAELSON Son of Max Michaelson and Gertrude Salomon, born in Berlin, Germany July 27, 1913, died in Antioch, California, September 28, 2008, of natural causes. Sent to Canada to escape the Holocaust, which took the lives of his grandparents, his brother Alfred, and his uncle Erwin, among others, Heinz emigrated to Montreal in the early 1930's, where he worked for over twenty-five years as Vice President of Finance for an import-export metals company. He also lived and worked in London, England in the late 1950's, and in Tokyo, Japan in the early 1960's. He relocated to Miami, Florida in the early 1970's where he managed an international foods company office for more than a decade. Following the death of his wife of fifty-eight years, Eveline Goldman, in 1998, he moved to Antioch, California to be with his eldest son and his family. Beloved husband, father, and friend, he will be profoundly missed by his sons, Robbie and Jon. He is also survived by his daughter-in-laws: Manjula of Antioch, Ca, and Astrid Van Wieren of Toronto, Canada; by his granddaughters: Lauren, of Antioch, Ca, and Tamar Ruth and Dena Ann, of Vancouver Canada; by his grandsons: Jonathan, of Bangkok, Thailand; and Aaron, and his wife Nicole, of London, UK; by his great-granddaughter Xianna, of London, UK; and by his sister-in-law, Beryl Goldman of Montreal and Ruth Ilief-Goldman, of Montreal. Following a ceremony at Sinai Memorial Chapel, in accordance with his wishes, this remains were cremated, and his ashes scattered in San Francisco Bay by the Golden Gate Bridge, where his beloved wife's remains were also consecrated. Mlle Leduc fut enseignante à l'école secondaire de Plantagenet durant plusieurs années. Elle était la fille bien-aimée de feu Hilaire Leduc et de feu Victoria Poirier; la chère soeur de feu Thérèse, feu Cécile, Jacqueline, feu Jacques (feu Ellen Murphy), feu Jean-Paul (feu Marie-Anne Gauthier), feu Claude (feu Elda Groulx), feu Fernand (feu Lilliane Migneault) et feu Lucien (feu Thérèse Rodier). FORTIN (M. André) Le 2 octobre 2008, est décédé au Centre de santé et de services sociaux de Chicoutimi Pavillon St-Vallier, à l'âge de 67 ans, M. André Fortin, époux de Mme Brigitte-Yolande Godin, demeurant à Chicoutimi. TRIPP, Margaret 2008-10-04 Margaret Helen (Peggy), 60 years young, died on Tuesday September 30th at St Joseph’s Hospital in Thunder Bay, Ontario after a long courageous battle with cancer. Peggy will be sorely missed by her partner, Wayne Hill, father Clifton Tripp, sister Pat, brother Eric, and his wife, Maria, nieces Mia and Ellie, and many good friends and extended family. She was predeceased by her mother, Margery. As a Professor of Biology and Women’s Studies at Lakehead University, Peggy profoundly influenced countless students. In 1991, she received the Lakehead University Distinguished Instructor Award. As a beloved friend and colleague, she lit up every room she entered with her warmth, optimism and wit, and for too many years, taught us grace under duress. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 1st at 1:30 at the Avila Chapel, on Reaume St at Lakehead University. SIMPSON, DONALD - At Kilean Lodge on Friday, October 3, 2008, Donald Simpson of Grimsby and previously of Smithville, in his 75th year. Beloved husband of Linda (nee Paterson) and the late Maude (nee Smithers). Loving father of Brent and Debbie Simpson, Sue (Marie) Talarico, and step-father to Karen Rouselle and Malcolm Ross. Cherished papa of Jeremy, Krista, Justin, Bryce, Jenna, Sarah, Rheanne and Kyle, and great-papa of Bridget. Dear brother of Margaret Roepke and Rose and William Anderson. WARD, Brad G. - 1955-2008 passed away on September 23 at his home in Boulevard, California. Predeceased by his father and mother, Gilbert & Ercell, grandparents Dennis & Hazel and William & Irene. Brad will be missed and remembered by his brother Brent and wife Jane Marie, his Aunt Evelyn and Uncle Richard and “Aunt“ Agnes, his cousins and his many friends in Canada and California; especially Richard and Cynthia, Russ and Lorenda & Jonathon. Brad made many friends and memories during his long journey to follow his music and lifestyle dreams and had found his home among the mountains and his friends there. CROGHAN, Vivian “FiFi“ (nee Seguin) - Passed away on September 21, 2008 in Denver, Colorado. She was born in North Bay to Wilfred and Alexina Seguin on December 13, 1923. In 1952, Vivian moved to the United States with her husband, Arthur, and their daughters. Following retirement from a rewarding career in social services with the State of Michigan, she returned to her passions, art and gardening. Vivian moved to Denver in 2002 to be near family. The time she spent with her four grandchildren and three great - grandchildren was especially treasured. She is survived by daughters Marlene Croghan (Walnut Creek, CA), Vivian Lange (Denver, CO), and Cathy Croghan (St. Paul, MN), sisters Irene Jennings (Calgary, AB) and Dora Poulin (Vancouver, BC), and numerous nieces and nephews. LINNEY, Louise Frances (Shugg) - Born July 17, 1921, Louise passed away peacefully on Friday October 3, 2008 at Oakwood Park Lodge at the age of 87. Beloved wife of the late Robert (1985).
