Beloved wife of the late Frank Brown, loved mother of Carol and James Hepple of Meaford. Sadly missed by her grandson, Christopher and his wife Jennifer of Toronto. KANE, Charles McGuire Cafferty "Chuck" August 3, 1921 - September 5, 2008 Charles passed away at the age of 87 years after a battle with skin cancer on Friday, September 5, 2008 at the George Derby Centre, Burnaby, BC. Charles was born in Gouroch, Scotland to John and Grace Kane. They immigrated to Canada when he was three years old. They settled in Red Deer and then Calgary. Charles served with the Royal Canadian Navy from July 1941 to October 1942 and with the Canadian Army - Royal Canadian Artillery Trans from 1943 to 1946, C.I.C. (C.C.R. of C.) Rank - Rifleman where he was posted to the UK and Continental Europe. Charles' medals received were C.V.S.M. & Clasp, 1930-46 Star and France & Germany Star. Charles left Calgary in the 1980's and settled in Chilliwack, BC, where he loved the weather, golf and small town living. Charles is survived by his children, Colleen Teters, Bonnie Bryant (Ron), Bradley Kane, Wendy Mather (Dave), Robin Dixon (Paul) and their families. He is also survived by his sisters Molly and Doreen, his brothers Bill and Terry and many nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his siblings Hugh, Dan, Grace, Jack, Jim and Ronnie. A small Memorial Service will be held Monday, September 29, 2008 at 1:30 p.m. at the George Derby Centre, 7550 Cumberland Street, Burnaby, BC. We would like to thank the staff of the George Derby Centre for their very patient, caring and compassionate care for Charles during the past nine months while he lived there. DZIERGO, Joan Carole 2008-09-23 Mrs. Joan Carole Dziergo, age 75 years, resident of Thunder Bay, passed away in Pinewood Court on Friday, September 19, 2008. Joan was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on the 17th of August 1933. She moved to Thunder Bay in her late teens and worked in retail at Chapples and Sears. Joan was an active member of the PTA at St. Ann School. She enjoyed dancing with her favourite partner, her husband and partner for life, Joe. If there was a polka, you could find them on the dance floor. Joan enjoyed bingo and being a member of a bowling league. Her greatest joy was time spent with her family. Mom orchestrated picnics, birthdays and many family outings and most special occasions. She made our home an open door to everyone and anyone who came to our house. Hospitality and entertaining were her forte. As a mother, she was first on the scene to take care of our scraped knees or to wipe our tears away when anyone of us thought our world was collapsing because we had a bad day at school or work. She was always there to comfort us and offer advice, if we wanted it. She was not just our mom, she was our best friend. Joan is survived by her daughter Barb Wright (husband Richard), son Richard, all from Thunder Bay, sons Wayne, Long Beach, California, and Kevin, Winnipeg, Manitoba, and brother Richard Marrese (wife Herminne) and family, Granger, Indiana. She is survived by other relatives. She was predeceased by her husband Joseph John Dziergo, father Samuel Marrese and mother Bernice Kendy. A private family service will be held on Wednesday, September 24th, 2008 with interment at Mountain View Cemetery. Thanks to the staff of Pinewood Court, especially those who work in Sandpiper, Dr. Klassen, Dr. Dodick, Dr. Boake, and Rev. James Panikulam of St. Agnes’ Church and the Catholic Women’s League. KRISKO, Edward (Ted) 2008-09-23 Passed away on Sunday, September 21, 2008 at St. Joseph’s Hospital at 79 years of age. Born in Angusville, Manitoba, he came to Fort William in 1944 and worked for Great Lakes Paper Co. (Abitibi Bowater) until his retirement in 1988. He worked as a Supervisor in the Sulphite Department and has enjoyed his 20 years of retirement. He married the love of his life Helen (Gluta) and celebrated 61 years together. He enjoyed traveling south every winter and saw many places, his favorite was Portugal. He loved fishing and camping with his family. He belonged to Local 39 and was an active member in the Great Lakes Conservation Club. Edward was predeceased by his parents Annie and Mike and brothers Bert and Lewis. He is survived by wife Helen; daughter Donelda; son David (Jane); grandchildren Steven and Laura and John and Beverly; sisters Marcella and Vera of Manitoba and nieces and nephews. He is an adherent of Broadway United Church. Due to his wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no service. A private interment will take place at a later date. A memorial lunch will be held at Broadway United Church on Thursday, September 25, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. Memorial donations will be appreciated by the Heart & Stroke Foundation, Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre and the Broadway United Memorial Fund.

BERGERON, Sir Knight Réal (Assembly St-Jacques) - The family announces with sorrow, his death in Sudbury, Monday, September 22nd, 2008 at the age of 83 years. Son of the late Florian and of the late Claire Hilda (née Labelle) Bergeron. Beloved husband of Adrienne Bergeron of Val Thérèse. Loving father of Hélène (Harry) of South Porcupine, Guy (RoseMarie) of Garson, Louise (Dale) of Sudbury, Pauline (Michael) of Eauclair, ON and Russel of Winnipeg. Dear brother of Clothilde (Carl) and Georgette both of Val Thérèse, Robert of Sudbury and Cheryl of Elliot Lake. Predeceased by his brothers and sisters Desneiges, Lloyd (Gertrude), Gérald and Normand. Lovingly remembered by his grandchildren, Alex, Matthew, Devon, Gabrielle, Brendan, Hayley, Eric, Matthew, Gia and Justin. Sadly missed by his best friend Robert. Mr. Bergeron was a retired industrial mechanic with Inco. The loves of Réal's life upon which he focused included his wife, children, grandchildren and his beloved garden. He was very active in his community, having been a member of the Knights of Columbus 4th degree, Assembly St-Jacques, Hanmer and 3rd degree, council 5005, Hanmer and a member of “Club d'âge d'or“ of Capreol and Hanmer. In his leisure times, he enjoyed bowling, curling, fishing, hunting and golfing. The family will receive relatives and friends at the CO-OPERATIVE FUNERAL HOME, 4570, St-Joseph Street, Hanmer, Wednesday from 2-5 and 7-9:30 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Thursday, September 25th, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. in Ste-Marguerite d'Youville Church, Val Thérèse.
