BRADFORD, James Ronald - The death of James Ronald Bradford of Saint John West occurred unexpectedly on August 28, 2008. Mr. Bradford was born in Saint John on October 22, 2008. He was the son of Joan I. (Kyle) Bradford. Mr. Bradford was a member of the Carpenter's Union Local 1386 and was working at the LNG project. Surviving in addition to his mother, Joan; are his son, Devan; six brothers, Kenneth E. (Norma) of Saint John, William "Bill" (Eva) of Winnipeg, Michael, Timothy (Brenda) of Saint John, Robert of Quebec City, and Christopher of Saint John; two sisters, Laura (Richard) Kinsella of Willow Grove, and Kathy (Guy) Cormier of Cocagne; and several nieces and nephews. Resting at Castle "Fallsview" Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave. (634-1701), with visitation on Wednesday from 12 noon until service time at 2 pm. The funeral service will take place on Wednesday, September 3, 2008 from Fallsview Chapel at 2 pm. Interment in Greenwood Cemetery. Webster, Robin James September 7, 1941 - August 28, 2008 passed away August 28, 2008, after a lengthly struggle with dementia. Robin was born in Princeton BC September 7, 1941 He moved to Mesachie Lake as a young boy, and became a life long resident of Lake Cowichan. Max Alexander Deutscher Thursday, July 20, 2006 – Wednesday, August 27, 2008 We are sad to announce that our dearest Max passed away in our arms during the afternoon of the 27th of August at the age of two years after a short battle with cancer. Cotton Robert (Bob) - The death of Robert (Bob) Cotton, Moncton, occurred at Geo Dumond Hospital on July 12, 2008 after a short but courageous battle with cancer. Bob was born in Montreal, Oct 8, 1947, the only son of the late Ernest and Helen (Aiton) Cotton. He is survived by sister Kathryn (Mark) LeBlanc, nephew Dr. Brett (Wendy) LeBlanc and their children Kai and Ayla of Moncton, Aunts Grace Uhrig, Peterborough, Ont, Dorothy Aiton and Edythe Storey, Sussex. Following cremation a committal service was held at Pioneer Cemetery, Penobsquis, with Rev. Bob Hussey officiating.

WOODROFFE, Violet Foley - 106, died peacefully at the Loch Lomond Villa on August 29, 2008. The daughter of the late Frederick and Violet (Strang) Foley, Violet was born on Loch Lomond Road in East Saint John on November 12, 1901. She grew up with her seven double cousins who lived next door, graduated from Saint John High School in 1917 and from McGill University in 1922. She was a charter member of the University Women's Club of Saint John, a life member of the New Brunswick Historical Society, and a member of All Saints Anglican Church of East Saint John. She taught school in Montreal and worked on Wall Street in N.Y.C. when the stock market crashed in 1929. She then returned to Saint John and worked for F.J. Brennan and Company on Prince William Street. Having lived and worked in the city for most of her life, she was a wonderful family and city historian. In 1940 she married William J. Woodroffe, who died in 1982. She was also predeceased by her brother, Frederick D. Foley, in 1916 fighting in France during WWI and more recently by her sisters, Charlotte A. Foley and Helen F. Dunning. She is survived by two nieces, Marcia S. Dunning, of North Thetford, Vermont and Elizabeth D. Rowan, of Kirkland, Washington, the daughter of her cousin, Joan Alarie, of Oakville, Ontario, the son of another cousin, John Trainor, of Saint Stephen, N.B. and her loyal friend, Louise Allan, of Saint John. At Violet's request there will be no visitation or funeral service. A graveside service at the Fernhill Cemetery followed by a celebration of her life at the Foley family Cottage at Baxter's Corner will be held next summer when family and friends can be present. A donation in her memory may be made to the charity of the donor's choice. MORRELL, Phyllis E. - The death of Phyllis E. (Wilson) Morrell of Turnbull Nursing Home, wife of the late George Morrell, occurred Monday, September 1, 2008, at the age of 97. Born in Saint John, NB, she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Lucy Etta (Dingee) Wilson. Phyllis was employed with St. Joseph's Laboratory as a Medical Secretary. She was a former member of Douglas Avenue Christian Church and Main Street Baptist Church; she had 60 years of continued work with CGIT and a charter member of the Martha Sprague Chapter of the Women's Missionary Society. She was very active in Douglas Avenue Christian Church groups and committees. Phyllis is survived by two sons, Darryl (Lorna) Morrell of Leduc, AL, Wayne (Evelyn) Morrell of Fredericton and Saint John, NB; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Besides her husband and parents she was predeceased by one brother, Cyril. COWAN, Dorothy Louise passed away peacefully at Rocmaura Nursing Home on Monday, September 01, 2008, in her 100th year. She was predeceased by her husband of 70 years, Russell A. Cowan in June, 2006 and by a grandson, Russell P. Cowan in 1988, as well as two brothers and a sister. During her life in East Riverside, she enjoyed her garden, church work, and making candles. Dorothy is survived by a daughter, Suzanne Jones (Derek) of Calgary, Alberta; a son, Howard Cowan (Sharon) of Sorrento, British Columbia; three granddaughters; four great grandchildren; two sisters-in-law; and nieces and nephews. Although there will be no visititation time, relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral service, which will be held on Thursday at 1:00 PM from Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John. Il fut le fondateur de la compagnie Holbec et La Paysanne de St-Paul d'Abbotsford. HANSON, Allan Eugene - At the Dunnville War Memorial Hospital on August 29, 2008 in his 80th year. Dearly missed by his loving wife Margaret of 59 years. He will be sadly missed by his brother Denise (Lois) of Sault Ste. Marie and by his sister Gloria Rutledge (Vern) of Woodstock, ON. He is also survived by his brother and sister-in-laws and many nieces and nephews. Allan & Margaret lived in Kirkland Lake and Orillia for over 40 years before moving to Lowbanks. Allan was a lifelong pressman and consultant for many newspapers including the Thomson Newspaper (Welland Tribune), The Northern News in Kirkland Lake and The Packet Times in Orillia. He was a lifelong member of the Masonic Lodge #192 in Orillia and also had his private pilots license. He enjoyed boating and flying to various places, and now Allan has taken his last flight. Elle est décédée à l’Hôpital régional de Saint-Jean, entourée de sa famille. Née à Val-Comeau le 9 juin 1957, elle était fille de Suzanne Vienneau et de feu Alphée Comeau. Épouse, fille, soeur et amie dévouée, elle sera manquée par tous ceux qui l’ont aimée. Elle a toujours vécu sa vie pleinement jusqu’à ce que sa santé se détériore en 1997. La famille recevra parents et amis à compter de 19h, le mardi 2 septembre, à la Coopérative funéraire "La Colombe", 667, chemin Saulnier Ouest, à Tracadie-Sheila. Les funérailles seront célébrées en l’église Notre-Dame-de-la-Salette de Sheila, le mercredi 3 septembre, à 14h. Anna was predeceased by her first husband John Goralczyk and her daughter Victoria, as well as all of her siblings: Kay, Mary, Francis, Peter, Michael and John. Interment will be Thursday, September 4 at 10 a.m. at Oakridge Memorial Gardens, Sackville, NS, followed by a 2 p.m. memorial service at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses located at 210 Parkland Drive in Clayton Park West, Halifax. BROOKES, Robert William (Bob) January 26, 1950 - August 11, 2008 Bob Brookes, beloved husband of Ellen, went to be with his Lord and Savior unexpectedly while on vacation in the Philippines. Bob, predeceased by his parents, Dick (Richard) and Rose Brookes, was born in Drumhellar and raised in Rocky Mountain House, Alberta. Bob worked for many years in Ft. McMurray with Syncrude, and most recently with Suncor. He belonged to Local 110 Asbestos Workers. Bob was a devoted family man and a generous, warm and gentle man. He was a faithful supporter of his church and was involved with mission work locally and abroad. Besides his beloved wife, Ellen, he leaves to mourn, his two daughters, Esther (sixteen) and Dawn (fourteen). Bob was married to Ellen for seventeen happy years and his two daughters were the pride of his life. He will be deeply missed by his church family, co-workers, extended family, friends and relatives both in Canada and the Philippines.
