SCHLANGE, Gunther - After a tough battle with heart disease, Gunther Schlange passed away on July 29th at the St. Catharines General Hospital-NHS at the age of 76. Loving husband of 54 years to Irma and caring father to Brigitte (Peter) Chess and Harry ( Kathy). Much loved Opa to Belinda (Willy) and Sheri, Eric and Sonja and Great Opa to Emma and Nathalie. He enjoyed his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He will also be missed by his family in Germany. Gunther was an avid soccer player for many years with Club Heidleberg and enjoyed winters in Naples, Florida fishing from the pier. He enjoyed life to the fullest and always saw things on the bright side even with his many health problems over the last few years. He always had a smile on his face. A special thanks to Dr. Schultz for his support. Gunther's family will receive visitors at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton Street on Friday, August 1st from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. DUQUETTE, Micheline (née MANZI) 1913 - 2008 Envolée vers un monde de paix et de quiétude, doucement, à l'hôpital Général de LaSalle, s'est éteinte, à l'âge vénérable de 94 ans et 8 mois, Dame Micheline Manzi, tendre épouse de feu Paul Duquette, mère bienveillante de Robert (Lise), Micheline (Albert), Dolorès et de feu Richard (Jackie). Mamie adorée de Stéphane (Karine), Annie-Josée (Luigi), Anne-Marie (Donald), Christian et Serge ainsi que ses arrière-petits-enfants : William, Charlotte, Marina, Victoria, Cassandra, Nicolas et Vincent. Elle était la fille de feu Nicolas Manzi et de feu Angelina Piperni de Casacalenda, Italie. Ses soeurs Phillis (Lucien), Annette (Rolland), Marie (Léo) et Cécile (Wilfrid) l'ont précédée dans l'au-delà. Elle laisse également dans le deuil son unique frère Michel vivant en Floride ainsi que ses merveilleuses et dévouées nièces Liliane (André) et Carmen. Un grand merci à sa belle-soeur, Florianne Chiasson, pour ses bénéfiques et doux traitements de Reïki. GRETA BERARD Wednesday, July 30, 2008 Greta Berard passed away in Thunder Bay, Ont. on Thursday July 17, 2008. Born Anna Margreta Myrberg in Ljusdals, Sweden on Feb. 17, 1922 to Julia (Berg) and Matt Myrberg, she came to Canada as a young girl with her family, settling in Finland, Ont. She lived in Atikokan, Ont. for many years and in Kelowna, B.C. for a short time. She is survived by her sister, Elsie Hamilton of Vancouver, B.C.; grandchildren, Julie (Albert) Melnychuk and their children, Brian, Robert, and Cody, Rhonda Myrberg (Zeke Latell) and children, Tanya and Ryan, Sherry Myrberg (Armand Martel) and son, Shane, and Tracy Myrberg and children; as well as two great-great-grandchildren, Gabriel Hughes and Taylor Derkson. She was predeceased by her parents; brother, Herman Myrberg; only son, Herman Myrberg; grandson, Brian Myrberg; brother-in-law, Andy Hamilton; and daughters-in-law, Teddy Ann Brigham and Edith Myrberg. Grandma was the hardest worker there was. She worked at Iron City Cleaners for many years in Atikokan, and also in the bush camp as a cook. She and her former husband, Eldon Berard, owned the Dew Drop In in Finland. She cooked at the beanery for CN, owned the Texaco with her husband, as well as other ventures. She looked forward to picking berries every year and collected many a pail. She was a great cook and fed everyone who came to her door. She was a generous person. Cremation has taken place and her ashes will be laid with her son, Herman. There will be no service. Please consider a donation to the Atikokan Hospital in her name. God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; the courage to change the things I can; and the wisdom to know the difference. We love you, Grandma.

Isabella MacDonald 1912 - 2008 Isabella F. MacDonald, age 96 years of Mississauga, ON and formerly of Lower Coverdale, NB; passed away at the Trillium General Hospital in Mississauga, Ontario on Monday, July 28, 2008. Born in Glasgow, Scotland on February 25th, 1912; she was the daughter of the late William and Emma (Scott) Spottiswoode. Isabella formerly attended Lower Coverdale Baptist Church and was a member of the Lower Coverdale Women's Institute, the Women's Missionary Society, and a Leader in the Pioneer Girls. She is survived by her sons, John "Jack" and his wife, Elizabeth MacDonald of Mississauga, ON, David and his wife, Janice MacDonald of Huntsville, ON; six grandchildren; five great grandchildren; also by several nieces and nephews. Isabella was predeceased by her husband, Harold in 2006 and infant son, Warren Resting at Riverview Funeral Home on Friday, August 1st, 2008 from 2-4 & 7-9 pm. The Funeral Service will be held at the Lower Coverdale Baptist Church on Saturday August 2nd, 2008 at 2:00pm with Rev. Jack Allen officiating. Interment will be in Wilmot Memorial Cemetery. GWENDOLYN MARGARET CORNELL Wednesday, July 30, 2008 It is with the deepest sadness that the family of Gwendolyn Margaret Cornell announces her passing at her home in Atikokan, Ont. on Wednesday, July 2, 2008. Gwen was born in Devlin, Ont. on July 22, 1936 and moved with her family to Atikokan in 1948, where she lived until her passing, with some time spent in Winnipeg, Man., Thunder Bay, Ont., and British Columbia along the way. She married Eldon Cornell on Nov. 28, 1959. She worked as an operator for Northern Telephone, then operated Gwen’s Flowers for many years. She also was a devoted member of First Baptist Church, and enjoyed drawing, arranging flowers, and other crafts. Gwen is survived by her children, Mike (Deb) Ritchat of Okotoks, Alta., Carol (Lorne) Nelson of Dryden, Ont., Larry (Maria) Ritchat and Bill (Lynn) Cornell, both of Sparwood, B.C., David Cornell of Fort McMurray, Alta., and Craig (Donna) Cornell of Westbank, B.C.; daughter-in-law Roselyn Ritchat of Atikokan, Ont.; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. Also surviving are her siblings, Keith Strachan and Ethel (Alex) Broski, both of Atikokan, Ont., and Sharon (Peter) Braun of Saskatoon, Sask.; sisters-in-law, Grete (Lynn) Gibson of Thunder Bay, Ont. and Sophie Cornell of Atikokan, Ont.; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Bill and Oprah Strachan; husband, Eldon Cornell; son, Robert Ritchat; sister, Roxie Gingras; brother-in-law, John Gingras; and sister-in-law, Joyce Strachan. Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 8 at Riverview United Church in Atikokan, with Pastor David Baxter officiating. Interment was at Eldon’s side at Little Falls Cemetery in Atikokan. PRIDDLE, Charles (Charlie) - Peacefully at Georgian Heights Nursing Home in Owen Sound on Monday July 28, 2008. In his 83rd year, Charles Otto Eddaloy Priddle, loved son of the late Steven James Priddle and his late wife Euphemia. Charlie was born on the Centre Line Badjeros, Osprey Township at home February 13, 1926. Charlie is predeceased by his brothers Kenneth (1984) and Alywin James (1982). Lovingly remembered by sisters-in-law, Vera Priddle, of Guelph and Jean Priddle of Feversham as well as many nieces and nephews. He will be remembered for his appreciation of good coffee and “sweet“ butter tarts around Owen Sound. Although he was a quiet man his twinkling blue eyes and infectious smile were his trade mark! In Charlies later years and with declining health he had the best of care from Inglewood Villa and then Georgian Heights Nursing Home. Predeceased by his brothers Claude (Anne of Capreol) and Hector (Claudette of Sudbury) and by his sisters Marie-Jeanne Gascon and Georgette Gascon. Lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Cynthia, Chelsey, Tyler, Ian, Savannah and Mandy. Sadly missed by many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Roland appreciated music and was an avid fiddle player. He enjoyed fishing and hunting and was a great cement finisher. CLAVELLE (Lawson), Alice 2008-07-31 1919 - 2008 Alice Clavelle ( Nee Lawson) aged 89 passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Friday, July 25, 2008 at Terrace Bay McCausland Hospital. Her positive attitude and sense of humor helped her family and friends endure her long battle with diabetes. Alice is survived by her husband James Clavelle, son Raymond Potvin and wife Sandy, Brother Don Lawson and wife Kathleen, Sister Vivian Axelson, Sister Ruby and husband Jim Townsend. Three grandchildren, several great grand children and many nephews and nieces. Alice was interred at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Thunder Bay, On on July 29, 2008.
