DALY, Rosanne Patricia March 12, 1960 - July 14, 2008 On July 14, 2008, Rosanne accepted a special assignment to transfer from her present location in Orleans, ON., to serve and avail her talents to help and assist others that have gone before her. Rosanne's calling is by invitation only, and after careful consideration she has accepted and valiantly prepared herself to ship-off at a moment's notice. Rosanne bids farewell to her two precious and loving children Nicolas and Kristen Deslauriers, her wonderful parents Martin and Lorna Daly, her sister Theresa Hubbard (Doug), her brothers Delbert (Lynda Wright), George (Donna Reid) and Wilfred (Sylvia Hodge). She also bids adieu to her sister Isabel Morel and her life long friend (sister by choice) Trudie Kroon (Bruce Flemons). She will be joining her oldest brother Brian who has been on special assignment for close to 3 years. To everyone that has touched her life, nieces and nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, numerous friends and friends of Bill W., rest assured that everything is "Okeey Dokeey" and looks forward to the day when we meet again. FRENCH, Genevieve Esther nee Lahey In Buckingham Hospital on Monday July 14, 2008 after a courageous battle with Alzheimers in her 93rd year. Beloved daughter of the late Dennis B. Lahey and the late Mary Filion. Cherished wife of the late Laurier French. Beloved mother of John (Micheline Lavoie) and Laurie (Ronald Nadon), grandmother to Tiffany and Wyatt Nadon, Brigitte and Patrick French, great grandmother of Karolanne Clement and Brandon Nadon-Savard, Alexandre and Nicolas French. Predeceased by 4 sisters and 3 brothers; sister Mary Veronica, G.S.I.C., Veronica Judge, Dorothy, Helena Smith, Augustus, Ignatius and Dennis. Also survived by many nephews and nieces. OBITUARY ALLAN WAYNE BROWN 1941-2008 It is with deep sorrow that our family announces the passing of Al on July 11th after a hard fought battle with cancer. He will be missed dearly by Monique, his wife of 38 years, his daughter Kim, his son Greg, his in-laws Jean-Pierre Chalifour of Quebec City and Louise and Mike Shipman of Los Angeles, CA. Al was predeceased by his parents Wilbur Brown and Thelma Reed of Dungannon, ON, and by his brother Ken of Seattle, WA. Al was a pilot at Air Canada for 36 years where he retired in 2001 as a 747 captain. WRIGHT, Mary (Maria) (nee Hamulka). Mary died peacefully on July 13, 2008 in her family home in Deux Montagnes. She was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, on April 24, 1913. She was predeceased both by her loving husband Arthur, to whom she was married for sixty-seven years, and her son Robert. Her loving ways and wonderful sense of humour will be sadly missed by her children Margaret, John (Beverley) and Marilyn (David). Mary leaves her dear sister Nell, the last of seven brothers and sisters. Her grandchildren especially, felt the warmth of Mary's devotion to her family. They are Craig, Gregory, Kira, Lucas, Simeon, Kyla and Sarah. Her great-grandchildren Gemma, Charlotte, Jania, Sasha and Baby Joe, as well as many nieces and nephews and their families will miss the love she gave to them. BELL, Phillip Saul June 27, 1927 - July 13, 2008 Phillip Saul Bell, passed away peacefully at Rockyview General Hospital in Calgary on Sunday, July 13, 2008 at the age of 81 years. Saul and his wife Margaret owned and operated a successful nightclub called, "City Limits Restaurant and Bar" along with their two daughters. Saul was a very kind man who gave his time and advice to everyone and was a father figure to everyone who knew him. Loving father of Lisa Wowchuk and Jaqueline Bell of Calgary; father-in-law of James Wowchuk and Kristopher Wareing of Calgary; loving grandfather of Melanie and Christopher Wowchuk. Mr. Bell was predeceased by his loving wife of forty-seven years, Margaret Ann Bell in 1997, brother Benn Bell, father Phillip Bell and mother Rose Bell. He will be sadly missed by everyone who knew him including his precious dogs, Chiclet, Tiny, Lucky, and Molly. BENNETT, William (Bill) Gordon February 14, 1933 - July 13, 2008 Bill will be remembered by family and friends as a person quick to laugh and just as quick to lend a hand or a friendly ear to those who needed one. After many years of working in the oil patch, Bill started working in Waterton Lake National Park in 1960. He found a special place in his heart for the natural beauty of the Park and remained working there until his retirement in 1991 when he moved back to Calgary. KANE, Hazel Evelyn We are greatly saddened to announce that Hazel Evelyn Kane (nee Featherstone) passed away suddenly at the Rockyview Hospital on June 26, 2008 at the age of 78 years. She is survived by her son, Russell (Fiona), granddaughter Jennifer, her brothers Raymond and Lawrence, and many nieces, nephews and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Ken, parents Robert and Evelyn Featherstone, siblings Robert, Muriel, Norman, Grace, and Bernard. After growing up on the farm and working at the Saskatchewan Wheat Pool, Hazel met Ken at the 1958 Grey Cup, and became a true CFL fan. She was thrilled to see her Riders win the Cup last year! Hazel enjoyed a life of taking care of her family and many special trips. Her other passions included curling, baking, canning, gardening, and lunch with her friends. We all benefited from her generosity and seldom did you leave her home without a homemade goodie in hand. She was truly a friend to all, and particularly close to Jennifer, who will miss her special adventures with Grandma. Joy was born on May 31, 1934 in Magrath. She is now back in the arms of her husband, love and best friend Ken who predeceased her in 2001. LEONARD, Rose Mary December 13, 1916 - July 15, 2008 Rose Mary Leonard of Calgary passed away on Tuesday, July 15, 2008 at the age of 91 years. Rose was born in Waldeck, SK and resided in Saskatchewan until moving to Calgary when she was a young woman. Rose and her husband Jim operated the Three Sisters Esso Service Station and Restaurant. Rose also worked as a cook at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 264, as well as other food service establishments. Rose is survived by four sisters, Clara Brandick of Regina, SK, Betty Jones of Vancouver, BC, and Leona Wurst and Eleanor Kelly of Calgary. She is also survived by three nieces, Sheila Brandick, Cheryl Girardi and Debbie Shaw; and one nephew Dave Poulsen. Rose was predeceased by her husband Jim and her parents David and Mary Gerlach. LONGBOTHAM, Pauline 1918 - 2008 Jacoba Pauline Longbotham of Kamloops passed away on Wednesday, July 9, 2008 at 90 years of age. Pauline is survived by her daughter Anita (Joe) Graf and her children Robert (Kim) Kryger, Raymond Kryger, Karen (Steve) Palmer and son Jim Longbotham and his children Cole (Dell) Longbotham, Jim D. Lynch, David McLean, and Kyle (Rae Ann) Longbotham; sisters-in-law Evelyn Keeler and Theresa Keeler; three great-grandchildren Randelle Palmer, Hope and Savannah Longbotham; numerous nieces and nephews, first and second generation Keelers and Longbothams. She was predeceased by her husband Dave in 1972, her mother and father, and five brothers and seven sisters. Pauline was born in Baintree, Alberta, moved to Strathmore in 1946, Cochrane in 1949 and finally to Kamloops in 1975. She was an honourary life member of the Cochrane, Alberta Legion and an active working member of the Cochrane Lions Club. MUELLER, Herbert September 18, 1938 - July 13, 2008 Herbert passed away peacefully in the Foothills Hospital, with his wife Maren at his side. He was born in Nurnberg, Germany and immigrated to Canada as a young man in 1958. Herbert was joined by his mother and brother in 1962. After getting settled they started the family business known as A & H Mueller Automotive Parts. His business was his life, which Herbert enjoyed with great success for forty-two years. When time permitted Herbert and Maren enjoyed traveling and they saw many parts of the world throughout the years. For many years Herbert and Maren enjoyed the social events at the Austrian Canadian Club. Herbert was predeceased by his parents and his brother Artur. He will be dearly missed by his wife Maren and his many friends. Maren would like to especially thank the staff of the Foothills Hospital ICU and Unit 37 for the care and compassion they gave to Herbert and her. LAYDEN, Gerard (Gerry) - passed away the evening of July 2nd at home with family around him. Left with fond memories of a truly unique, lovable and often frustrating man are his wife Elaine; daughter Janice with husband Joseph & children Barbara & Christopher; son Andrew, his wife Brenda and their two daughters Jaimie & Meagan. Gerry came to Canada from Scotland in 1967. He worked as a painter at London Psychiatric Hospital for 18 years, then became a union staff rep of OPSEU in the Southwest Ontario areas of Windsor, Chatham, London, Sarnia for 16 years, retiring in Elliot Lake 6 years ago. A wake was held Monday July 7, 2008 for friends and family. A memorial service will be planned in early 2009 in Scotland which surviving family brother Pat & wife May; sister Pearl & husband Joseph, sister Celia with husband John, their families and Gerry's immediate will all attend to scatter his ashes. HAMELIN, Jim - In memory of Jim (Robert James Edward Alde) Hamelin who passed away on July 3, 2008 at the Thessalon Hospital in his 67th year. Jim was born on February 4, 1942 and is predeceased by his parents Alde and Christine and his brother Grant. Jim was a longtime resident of Massey and spent his final year at Light Haven Christian Home in Bruce Mines where he was well cared for. He worked for C.P. Rail and with various logging operations along the North Shore. Jim was a very gentle, caring and soft spoken man who loved all of God's creatures. He will be sadly missed by his friends in Massey, Sagamok and Bruce Mines. A Memorial Service will be held at the chapel at Light Haven on Monday, July 21 at 2:30pm. A graveside service at the Grandview Cemetery in Massey will take place at a later date. Donations to the Light Haven Christian Home would be appreciated. HARRISON, Dr. A. Geoffrey, DFC - Geoffrey Harrison died peacefully in Toronto on July 9th, 2008. He was the cherished husband of Margaret, the dearly loved father of Jane and Mark and adoring grandfather of Jordan and Rachel. He will also be missed by his daughter-in-law Jennifer and by Dr. Robert Sanderson, who have provided comfort and steadfast support through this difficult time. Geoff was born in West Yorkshire and was of a generation that did extraordinary deeds for the good of others. He served with honour and distinction in Nos. 57 and 83 Squadrons of the Royal Air Force. He was mentioned in dispatches for his bravery with the Pathfinder Force and was awarded a Distinguished Flying Cross. After the war, Geoff was interested in becoming either an architect or a doctor. He chose medicine and graduated from St. Thomas' Hospital Medical School in London. Most of his career was spent as a general practitioner in Port Hope, Ontario. There, he delivered hundreds of children into this world, aided the sick with dignity and enriched the lives of all he knew. Binns, sister Jean Wells of Oakville, and daughter Katherine Holloway of Milton. He is survived by Katherine's children, by his son Guy Binns, stepson Christopher Dowber, and sister Barbara Blake. Bryan worked for Bell Canada from 1948-1967, became an electrician in 1974, and worked for ten years at the Corah plant in Barrie before retiring to follow his wife in ministry in 1984. 11166438
