SMYLIE (Etienne) Audrey Marie 2008-06-02 Audrey was born Nov. 14 1927 in Fort William Ont. She spent her childhood in Westfort and married Gordon Wilson Smylie on July 20, 1946. Audrey and Gordon lived the remainder of their married life in Neebing and resided there when their 8 children (Corky, Wilfred, Edna, Madge, Ken, Dolly, Mary, and Tom) were born. Mom loved spending time with family, neighbours and friends in their home on Piper Ave. (Rosslyn Road). She later moved to Edward Street and then to Paterson Court where she took great pleasure in spending time with her friends. She worked at Hogarth TB Hospital and Club 17 and volunteered with the Neebing Women‘s Club and at the North Neebing Community Centre. Audrey was predeceased by her husband Gordon, sons Wilfred and Gordon, daughter Edna, grandson Steven, brother Ed, sister Marie and others close to her heart who she often remembered with love. Remaining to celebrate her life in remembrance are daughter Madeline (Bruce) Nield, son Ken (Carole), daughter Dolly (Ron Duclos), daughter Mary (Tony) Bakir, son Tom (Connie LeRoy), Linda and Daniel. Lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Roslyn, Jody, Julian, Michael, Charlene, Cinnamon, Laura, Maureen, Adam, Adrian, Melissa and Trienda. Also many great grandchildren who brought her joy in the later years of her life. Audrey was a generous and compassionate person who will be lovingly remembered by her family, friends and all those whose hearts she touched. Special thanks to her friends who contributed to her care throughout these past months. Also to the staff at the Renal Dialysis Unit and Unit 2A TBRHC. ASTEN, Kenneth James (Ken) WW II Veteran - of Belleville, and formerly of California, passed away at Quinte Health Care (BGH) on Saturday, May 31, 2008, in his 84th year. Born in Deseronto, he was the son of the Late James and Edith Asten. He was predeceased by his wife, the Late Helen (nee Austin) Asten. He is survived by three sons: Bill, of Los Angeles, Cal; Jim, of Owen Sound; and David, of Kingston. He is also survived by two sisters-in-law: Delta Chambers and Muriel See; by three brothers-in-law: Don, Frank; and Harry Austin; and by several nieces and nephews. He will also be remembered by many friends from the 14th Field Regiment (Royal Canadian Artillery), by friends at the Legion, and by fellow Shriners. Sr Marie-Rose Arseneau BATHURST - À l'infirmerie des Religieuse Hospitalières de Saint-Joseph, 2144, promenade Vallée-Lourdes, à Bathurst, le dimanche 1er juin 2008, à l'âge de 72 ans et 11 mois et dans sa 51e année de vie religieuse, est décédée Sr Marie-Rose Arseneau. Née le 7 juillet 1935 à Sainte-Thérèse-de-Robertville, elle était fille de feu Grégoire Arseneau et de feu Georgina Frenette. Outre sa famille religieuse, elle laisse dans le deuil trois soeurs: Marie-Anne Cormier (feu Edgar) de Petit-Rocher, Marie Blanche Haché (Omer) de Sainte-Rosette et Dora Godin (feu Patrice) de Saint-André; cinq frères: Régis (Catherine), Albénie (Noëlla), Donat (Georgette) et Léonard (Anita), tous de Robertville et Clovis de Thunder Bay, Ont., ainsi que plusieurs nièces et neveux. Quatre frères: Wilfred, Rhéal, Alcide et Emeril, l'ont précédée dans la tombe. Sr Marie-Rose Arseneau est entrée chez les Religieuses Hospitalières de Saint-Joseph le 11 août 1954 et elle a fait profession religieuse le 22 février 1956. Elle a travaillé dans les hôpitaux de Bathurst, Saint-Quentin, Lamèque, Sanatorium de Saint-Basile et Sorel. De 1990 à 2006, Sr Marie-Rose était à l'infirmerie de l'Hôtel-Dieu de Saint-Basile et par la suite à la Maison Notre-Dame-de-l'Assomption à Vallée-Lourdes. La dépouille mortelle sera exposée à la Maison Notre-Dame-de-l'Assomption, 2144, promenade Vallée-Lourdes, à Bathurst, le lundi 2 juin, à 14h. Il y aura une paraliturgie, à 19h. Les funérailles auront lieu en la Chapelle de la Maison Notre-Dame-de-L'Assomption, à Bathurst, le mardi 3 juin, à 16h. L'inhumation se fera au cimetière de la congrégation. MIDDLETON, Maria Jane (nee Yeoman) December 1, 1919 - May 31, 2008 Maria Jane Middleton (nee Yeoman) passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 31, 2008 at Forest Grove Care Center. Maria was born on December 1, 1919 in LaRaviere, Manitoba and in her childhood lived in several locations in Manitoba and Saskatchewan. In 1942, she moved to Flin Flon, Manitoba where she met and married her beloved husband, William Charles (Bill) Middleton, who passed away in 1998. In 1965, Maria and Bill moved to Calgary, retired to Stavely, AB in 1977, and in 2002, Maria moved back to Calgary. She will be lovingly remembered by her three children: Leonard (Sandy) Middleton, Tom (Pat) Middleton, and Myrna (Dave) Coghill; grandchildren: Jim Middleton, Lara (Mike) Brandrick, Dawn (Jason) Sudom, Shelley (Curtis) Wright, Scott Coghill, and Kelly (Nathalie) Coghill; great-grandchildren: Katie Middleton, Shae-Lynn, Caleb and Halle Brandrick, Quintin and Julius Sudom, William and Pauline Wright, and Mattea and Kailer Coghill. SNASDELL-TAYLOR, Rita (nee Stearn). Suddenly at home on May 10, 2008, beloved wife of the late James Dowker (Bunny) Snasdell-Taylor. Rita was for many years an active member of the Choir and Altar Guild of St. Paul's Church in Lachine and a life member of the Anglican Women's Auxiliary. A dedicated employee of the Childrens Corner in Westmount and a well known maker of Teddy Bears. She will be sadly missed by her children, Gillian (James Schuddeboom) and David (Barbara). KELLAM, Idele Marian Jane (Mihell) March 18, 1912 - May 30, 2008 Idele Kellam of Calgary passed away peacefully after a long and healthy life on Friday, May 30, 2008 at the age of 96 years. Idele was born and educated in Calgary and grew up living on New Street. She took great pride in her Calgary roots and being a native Calgarian. In her younger years, she was active in the outdoors, speed skating and tennis and it was through her love of tennis she met her husband George whom she married in 1938. Idele was a long-standing member of the Glencoe Club and continued her love of sports there, excelling in bowling and curling. With George's retirement in 1972, Idele and George moved to the family property on Sylvan Lake where they lived and operated a bee farm with their Schipperke dogs, until their permanent return to Calgary in 1986. Idele is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Ron and Lane Kellam, daughter and son-in-law Linda and Leo Moriarity and son Douglas Kellam; five grandchildren: Dan, Scott, Holly, Robbi and Bonny; three great-grandchildren Inola, Naomi, and Jack. Idele was predeceased by her husband George in 1987. Friends may pay their respects at the Blair & Son Funeral Home, Smiths Falls, on Monday, June 2nd from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral service will be held in the Chapel on Tuesday, June 3, 2008 at 1 p.m. In remembrance donations to the Ottawa Regional Cancer Centre would be appreciated.
