LAFLAMME, Jean – We are saddened to announce the passing of Jean Laflamme (nee Waugh) on May 15, 2008 after a courageous battle with cancer. A celebration of her life took place with close friends and family as she was surrounded by son Chris De Mooy, daughter Shelley Cooper (Ken), grandchildren Damian and Austin, parents Wes and Eleanor Waugh, sister Liz Andrews, best friend June Miller and family friend Mel Dussault. It gives us peace knowing Jean fulfilled her dream of living in the Canadian Rockies in Banff, Alberta the past five years. May the many mountain ranges of the Rockies bring solace and smiles to those who knew, miss and love Jean. RICKARD, Helen - Passed peacefully at the Port Colborne Hospital on Thursday May 15, 2008 in her 91st year. Dear mother-in-law to Don MacLeod of Port Colborne. Loving grandmother of Kelly MacLeod and Don MacLeod of Port Colborne. She will be missed by many cousins, nieces, nephews and extended relatives and friends. Predeceased by her husband Philip Rickard, son Dennis Rickard and daughter Claudette MacLeod. CLARKE, John "Jack" Passed away Tuesday, May 13, 2008 in his 93d year. Devoted husband for almost 60 years of Lois (Shields). Loving father of Michael, Ann, Don and Joan (deceased). Jack is greatly missed by his children's spouses, by his grandchildren Megan and Kendra Clarke, by his sole surviving sister, Lorna Kelly, and his many friends. He was the son of Michael and Anastasia (McDonald) Clarke and is predeceased by his sisters, Julia, Lillian, Anastasia, Margaret, and Helena. He will be fondly remembered by an extensive family of in-laws, nieces, nephews and cousins. Jack was born in Fallowfield, Ontario, served overseas in the Army during the WWII, and worked many years with the Department of Veterans' Affairs in Ottawa. He was the recipient of the Canada Medal for his service to the country. The family thanks the devoted staff of the West End Villa, Ottawa and Red Woods Retirement Home. NEVIN, Patricia Mary Jewell "TRISH" Passed away peacefully in hospital on May 15, 2008 at the age of 60. She was a much loved mother, grandmother, wife, sister and friend. In particular, she leaves to mourn her husband, Cecil; two daughters, Christina and Cynthia; son, Darren, and stepchildren; Carolyn, Elizabeth, and Geoffrey; her sisters, Donna, Pamela, and Maureen, and brothers, Gregory and David. She adored her two grandchildren Alexandria and Lyric. Trish was well known for her hand-made memory bears and her skillful restoration of old teddy bears and had won awards for her work. Mary was the cherished daughter of Sally Elizabeth Bowlby and the late Lloyd Glen Udell and beloved niece to Jack and Jeanna Bowlby and family of Powell River. Born in Toronto, and raised in Roxboro, Quebec, Mary finely followed her own path to Vancouver where she found happiness in her career and comfort with her one true love. CODE, Mildred Louise April 6, 1920 - May 15, 2008 Mildred died peacefully at the Foothills Hospital after a lengthy illness which she faced with her resilient nature. She was cared for by her devoted husband, Clark, giving back the love that he had from her. Mildred was an "old school" Mom who lovingly raised four sons, managed the family duties and handled a career all the while. She was a country girl in the city, the eldest of a large farm family, and returns to her roots and family, in Irma, Alberta for her deserved rest. Mildred joins her first husband, the late Tom Foulkes in lasting peace. She will be sadly missed by her sons, Don Foulkes (Sharon), David Foulkes, Doug Foulkes (Sandy) and Blair Code (Marlee); her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and sisters and brothers. RICHARDSON, Robert (Bob) Morley March 19, 1922 - May 14, 2008 Robert Morley Richardson of Calgary passed away on Wednesday, May 14, 2008 at the age of 86 years. Robert was born in Toronto, ON on March 19, 1922. He graduated from the University of Toronto with a Chemical Engineer Degree in 1943. He served with the Royal Canadian Engineers from 1942 to 1946. He was employed by Gulf Canada for thirty-six years. Robert is survived by his loving wife Liz; his daughters and son-in-law, Robyn and Joanne and Doug; as well as his two grandchildren, Rob and Tavia Sarkissian, who brought the smiles to his eyes. Bob was the heart of our family. The measure of a man's life is not how long he lived but the affect he had on people and how he touched them. "You can shed tears that he is gone, or you can smile because he has lived. You can close your eyes and pray that he will return, Or open your eyes and see all that he has left. Your heart can be empty because you can't see him, Or you can be full of the love that you have shared.
