VAN DOORSELAERE, SIMON The passing of Simon Charles Van Doorselaere of Minto, NB, occurred Tuesday, May 13th, 2008 at his home. Born in Minto, NB, October 6th, 1920, he was the son of the late Charles and Zelia (Hersin) Van Doorselaere. Simon was a veteran of WWII. Survived by his wife, Kathleen (Blackier); a special companion of many years, Betty Palmer; a son, Carl Van Doorselaere (Lori); daughters, Caroline Albert (Julien), Ruth Caissie (John) and Ann Marie Belliveau (John) all of Minto, NB; eight grandchildren; two great grandchildren; sisters, Marguerite (Maggie) and Mary; brothers, Stanley, Frank, Louie and Amile; many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Simon was predeceased by a son, Allan; several brothers and sisters. Loving mother of Andy Robert and cherished mother-in-law of Renee. Precious Bubbie of Joshua, Sarah, Naomi, and Aaron. She was predeceased by her two brothers, Eugene and Nicholas. She is also survived by her former husband Andre Robert. Though apart for many years, he greatly mourns her passing. Manci was energetic and full of life. She kept in close contact with her large extended family and dear friends around the world, all of whom will miss her tremendously. May her memory be a blessing. PARÉ, Victoria - Victoria Ruth Paré, 11 weeks old, passed away peacefully in her parents' arms on May 12, 2008 at CHEO. Born with her twin sister, Veronica Margo, on February 23, 2008 in Ottawa, she is a miracle to her parents Heather Patricia Bender and Guy Benoit Paré. Victoria was small in weight (3lbs 2oz.) but great in spirit. She remained in the hospital for necessary surgery. Eventually succumbing to complications, she fought for 7 weeks with all she had. Had it not been for the skilled and caring staff of CHEO she would not have survived her first week of life. Survived by her parents, big sister and grandparents; Charlotte and Keith Bender, Ruth Paré. Victoria would have loved her cousins: Bailey, Kendra, Elizabeth, Justin, Ewen, Cole, Adrianne, Marie-Andrée, Nicolas, and Jean-Philippe,. Missed terribly by her aunts and uncles: Wesley and Agathe Bender, Pam and Robert MacDonald, Wanda and George Theoret, Louise and Rejean Dion, Marc and Sylvie Paré, Mona Paré, Carole Roy. Good friends that played a big part in her life: Margo and Mike Duchesneau and the MacIntosh Family. Cremation has taken place. Relatives and friends may join in a celebration of Victoria's life on Monday, May 19, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. at Zion United Church, Apple Hill. The family will be present at the Church on Monday from 12 noon until time of the Celebration. Interment will follow in North Branch Cemetery, Martintown. Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario. Though short lived, Victoria could be described as miraculous, defiant and beautiful. GERWING, Henry Carl (Chuck/Charlie) May 30, 1927 - May 13, 2008 Henry Carl Gerwing (Chuck/Charlie), beloved best friend and husband to his wife Rita of almost fifty years, passed away suddenly, but peacefully, on Tuesday, May 13, 2008 at the age of 80 years, after a hard fought battle with a lung illness. Peace forever our dear one... Carl was the thirteenth of sixteen children. Raised on farms in Saskatchewan and Nebraska, he excelled in the arts of compassion and gardening. He was an avid gardener, earning a multitude of awards from the Calgary Horticultural Association with features of his yard published in magazines and other media. Carl was very involved in the Calgary Opera Association, acting as a Board Member for over twenty years as well as being a past President. He had a beautiful tenor voice that was finally captured for eternity when he agreed to record his favourite songs, just after his eightieth birthday. The law was also a passion of Carl's. He obtained his law degree from the University of Saskatchewan in 1954 and practiced law independently for over fifty years, gaining the loyalty and trust of many clients. Carl was very devout and active in his parish and was a 4th Degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus. He will be very dearly missed, and never forgotten, by his devoted family as well as the many numerous relatives, friends and acquaintances that he encountered in his life. Besides his loving wife Rita, Carl also leaves behind his children, Miriam (Stuart) and their children, Kelsey (Jeremy) and her girls Rikki and Sabryna, Jessica (Braeden), Kristopher and Kaelan; Carolyn and her children, Leah and Tiana; Anita (Joe) with a child on the way; and Number One and only son, Steven. We are devastated by our loss but will always feel your big, strong and loving presence. Carl is also survived by his sisters, Laura, Rosemary (Bert) and Pauline (Maurice); brothers, Clem (Hedy), Felix (Eleanor) and Freddy (Marie); sister-in-law Julie; Aunt Louise; as well as many nieces, nephews, great and great-great-nieces and nephews. Carl was predeceased by his parents John and Amelia Gerwing; brothers, John, Hugo, Frederick, Ewalt, Gerhardt, Alphonse and Johnny, and sisters, Sophie and Esther. CUNNINGHAM, ELYNOR (GRAHAM) - With deep sorrow the Graham family announces the passing of their sister, Elynor (Graham) Cunningham, wife of the late Harold Cunningham of Saint John, occurred on Wednesday, May 14, 2008 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on 9 July 1921, she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Hazel (Campbell) Graham, of Fredericton. Elynor received her nurse's training at the Victoria Public Hospital, Fredericton, and worked there for a while before going to the Royal Montreal Hospital for further nursing education. Subsequently, she and her husband Harold, moved to Santa Barbara, California where they lived for thirty years. Elynor held the position of head nurse for many years, before accepting the position of Director at a Santa Barbara retirement home, Casa Dorinda. She did extensive work with the Spanish missions. Upon the death of her husband, she retired and returned to her hometown of Fredericton. Known as "Irish" for her flaming red hair, Elynor was well-loved by the many people she met and worked with. For the last twenty years, she had a strong interest in the arts and in oil painting and she shared her musical talents in volunteer work with the residents of Pine Grove. Her love of animals made her an avid supporter of the SPCA and Wildlife Federation. Strongly devoted to her Catholic faith, Elynor was very active at St. Dunstan's Parish where she served as sacristan, Eucharistic Minister, funeral assistant, RCIA leader and was a member of the CWL. Elynor was particularly respected by the many priests toward whom she held a special devotion, and who were treated regularly by her warm hospitality and delicious cuisine. Elynor is survived by her sisters, Doris (Graham) Fury and Marguerite (Graham) Rioux; and her brother, Jack Graham; sister-in-law, Jeannine (Roy) Graham and brother-in-law, Al Rioux; and numerous nephews and nieces. Elynor was predeceased by brother, Bill Graham; sister-in-law, Dolly Graham and brother-in-law, Kenneth Fury. Visitation will take place at Funeral McAdam's Select Community Home on Thursday, May 15 from 7 to 9 pm and Friday, May 16 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held from St. Dunstan's Roman Catholic Church on Saturday, May 17, 2008 at 12 noon with Rev. Gerald White as celebrant. Interment will take place at the Hermitage Cemetery. The family's request and in keeping with Elynor's deep devotion to priests, remembrances may be made to the Seminarian Fund c/o St. Dunstan's Parish, Fredericton. SCOTT, Samuel David "Sam" Samuel "Sam" Scott, of Calgary, beloved husband, father, brother-in-law, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend, passed away after a valiant fight with Motor Neuron Disease on Tuesday, May 13, 2008. Sam was born in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia. He was a graduate of the Nova Scotia Teachers' College and the University of Calgary. Sam spent more than thirty-five years in Education in Alberta and Nova Scotia. He loved animals, enjoyed and played all sports, three of which he could have played professionally. Sam loved his winter months in Hawaii and his summer months in Nova Scotia. Sam was a futurist, well ahead of his time. Words cannot adequately express how deeply Sam will be missed, for he touched the lives of so many. Besides his devoted wife Helen, Sam will be remembered by his three precious adult children, Heather, Kevin and Derek. He was predeceased by his parents, Helen and Beryl Scott and his two brothers, Dennis and Clifford. CLARK, Walter Robert (“Pete”) - Pete died peacefully at the Greater Niagara General Hospital on Tuesday May 13, 2008 at the age of 73. Pete was the devoted and beloved husband of Garda for 49 years, and the loving father of Peter John, Robert Edward (Patricia) and Richard James (Lorianne). He was also the proud grandfather of Samantha, Mitchell, Dream and Destiny. He was predeceased by his parents John and Isabelle Clark and siblings Jack Clark and Frances Campbell. Survived by a sister, Phyllis Sherren, a brother, Elery Clark (Beans) and many nieces and nephews. Walter was a dedicated police officer with the Niagara Regional Police Service for thirty-four years. During his retirement he enjoyed gardening, wood-working, camping and hiking with his canine companions. The family wishes to extend a sincere thank you to Dr. D. DICKENSON, (nee LeBlanc) - Lee Carmel Dickenson, resident and faithful volunteer at Fairhill Residence in St. Marys, retired employee of FAG Bearings Limited of Stratford and Limelight Restaurant, passed away at Stratford General Hospital on May 9, 2008 at the age of 72. Predeceased by her parents Lucille and Donat LeBlanc, brothers Donald and Richard and special friend Wilbert White. Survived and lovingly remembered by her sister Denise Rogers and he husband Stan of Elliot Lake. Cherished mother of Rick and his wife Louise, John and his wife Kathleen, Mike, Chris, all of Stratford, Bruce Dickenson and Lilly of London and Diane Dickenson and Ken of Mitchell. Dear grandmother of Stephanie, Nicholas, Cassandra, Kirstie, Adam, Katrina, Christopher, Aaron Dickenson, Natasha Hueck and Selina and Jessica Consitt. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Beloved husband of Georgette Ladouceur of Elliot Lake. Loving father of Darlene Collin (late Jean-Marc) of Hanmer, Michel Ladouceur (Ruth) of Chelmsford, Bruce Ladouceur of Elliot Lake , Laurie-Anne Bouzane (John) of Val Thérèse and grandfather of Jasmine, Marc, Cécilia, Véronique and Geneviève. Dear brother of Thérèse Brazeau (late Louis), Paul Ladouceur (late Joan), Marguerite Brisson (Mike), all of the Tri-Town area and the late David Ladouceur (Claudette) of Elliot Lake.
