Landrigan and Ronald M. Landrigan. BROWN, KATHLEEN H. (NEE WALSH) - passed away peacefully May 10, 2008 surrounded by her loving family. Kay was predeceased by her devoted husband, C. Bernard Brown (d 2003). Mother of Dana (Rita), Diane (Ted), Dale (Sharon) and Grandmother of Geoffrey, Kevin, Michelle, Kathleen, Samuel, and John. Kay is survived by her brother, Harold Walsh; and several nieces and nephews. TAYS, DALE ELLIOTT- After a brief illness, Dale Tays , age 57, passed away on Monday, May 5, 2008, at Sunny Brook Hospital, Toronto, Ontario. He will be missed by a wide circle of friends and family in Ontario where he lived for many years and worked as a gardening contractor and landscaper. Dale is survived by his mother, Doris Tays of Norton, New Brunswick; sisters, Carole (John) Hreno of Winnipeg, Myrna (Don) Richards of Hampton, Maureen Tays of Winnipeg, Linda Tays of Moncton, Sheryl (Lee) Carruthers of Calgary and brother, Brian (Lynn) Tays of Mercer Settlement and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, Horace Tays and brother, Kenneth Tays. Following cremation in Ontario, a funeral service will be held at Mercer Settlement Church at 2pm on May 17, 2008, followed by a reception at the Norton Municipal Building and interment at the Titus Hill Cemetery. A special thanks to the caregivers at the Sunny Brook Palliative Care Unit. Donations in memory of Dale may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or charity of the donors choice.

Agnes (Burns ) Couture Bathurst, on Mother's Day, May 11, 2008 Agnes (Burns) Couture wife of Albain Couture of Helen St., Bathurst, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at the Chaleur Regional Hospital at the age of 82. Born in Glasgow, Scotland on May 27th, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Eliza Burns and the late William Jones. Agnes came to Canada as a War Bride. She was also a big fan of Bingo. Besides her husband Albain, she is survived by; four daughters, Eliza (Alvin) Landry, Lucille (Armand) Couture, Ann Marie (Ray) Thibault and Mary Jean Couture, all of Bathurst; six sons, Joe (Shelva) Couture, Gary (Patsy) Couture, Michael (Helen) Couture, Derek Couture, all of Bathurst; Billy (Paulette) Couture of Riverview, NB; Wilfred (Maria) Couture of Dieppe, NB; 22 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren She is also survived by one sister, Rosie McFarlane and one sister-in-law, Ellen Jones, both of Glasgow Scotland. Also; one brother-in-law, Clifford Couture of Bathurst. Many nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by one son, David, and a brother Sonny. There will be no visiting at the funeral home. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, 16th May 2008 from the Sacred Heart Cathedral, St. Andrew Street, Bathurst at 11:00 am. Burial will be in the St. Mary's Cemetery in East Bathurst. BROOKER, Edith Margaret On May 12, 2008, Edith Margaret Brooker of Edmonton, formerly of Calgary, passed away peacefully at the age of 99 years. She lived a long and productive life, always there for her family and friends. Left to cherish her memory are her son, William (Maurine); grandchildren, Grant, Carol, Lance, Brett, Todd, Belinda Brandt and Glenn; thirteen great-grandchildren as well as sister-in-law, Pat Bushell. Edith was predeceased by her loving husband Albert (Bert) and son Ronald. Edith was a Registered Nurse who served the communities of Calgary, Bentley and Eckville, Alberta. BURGE, Arthur James (Jim) Arthur James (Jim) Burge of Lethbridge, beloved husband of Mary Ann Burge, passed away on May 10, 2008, at the age of 60, due to complications following hip reconstruction surgery at the Foothills Medical Center in Calgary. This operation was the result of an automobile accident in December of 2001. Jim was born in Edmonton, AB in 1948 and married the "love of his life" Mary Ann Byrne, in 1969. JANZEN HAMM, Fernne Lawreen 1949 - 2008 It is with great sadness that the extended family of Fernne Janzen Hamm must announce her passing on Mother's Day, May 11, 2008, after a number of bouts of cancer. Fernne was born in Midale, Sask., the daughter of Lawrence and Aileen Janzen. Predeceased by both parents and by her brother Stuart, Fernne is survived by her husband Vic, son Keith (Stachniak), daughters Kerilynne (Milne), Angela (Houston), Cathleen (Barnstable), Christine (Hamm), and Kimberly (Woodworth), and five grandchildren. Fernne will be sorely missed for her love and unmatched enthusiasm for life, by her extended family both in Canada and in Thailand where she and Vic had made their winter home. Special thanks to Dr. Sompote at the Chiang Mai Ram Hospital, to the Doctors and staff (thanks Carol) of Area D and Station 30 at the Cross, and last but not least, to Station 43 at the Grey Nuns for your kindness and humanity. LACKNER, Irene Vilma (Lucy) 15 April 1929- 12 May 2008 She passed on peacefully after a lengthy illness with Alzheimers disease. She was predeceased by her parents Irene and Joseph Lackner. She will be missed by her brother Joseph and sister-in-law Connie; nephew Paul Lackner (Fernando) niece Colleen Lackner Green (Todd). Survived by grand-nephews James Joseph and Christopher Green and grand-nieces Natasha and Tamara Green, cousins Michelle Guindon (Andre), Christine Cyr (Mike), Janet Boyle (Bryan), Katalin Duda, Catherine Taucher (Akron, Ohio) and many friends around the world. BA Carleton 1954, BLS McGill 1956 She had a great interest in books which lead to her career as a librarian culminating as the Chief Librarian for Economic Council of Canada. She was responsible for the National Library Project "Business and Economics Collections in Canadian Libraries". She was involved in many cultural groups, NACOA, Ottawa Little Theatre, National Art Gallery, and International House (where foreign students could exchange cultural events with Canadians). Many thanks to the wonderful staff and volunteers at the Peter D. Clark Centre for their dedicated and sympathetic care. McCALLUM, Doris (nee Killam) 1917 - 2008 She leaves behind her beloved husband Dr. Lester McCallum, and their son David. Cremation has taken place at her request. A Memorial Service is planned for June 7, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Andrews United Church, Avoca, QC, to remember her life and career. Born June 25, 1917 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, the only child of the late Frank Killam and the late Georgina Watt, she settled in Montreal in her early teens to begin her musical career. A child prodigy (Licentiate in piano performance from the McGill Faculty of Music at age 10, and Associate in piano performance from the University of Toronto at age 12, both degrees with distinction), while still in her teens she had a radio program called "Twenty Melodious Fingers" broadcast weekly on radio station CFCF in Montreal. She was Organist and Choir Director at Stanley Presbyterian Church in Westmount QC for 25 years. She was Director of the Bank of Montreal Choral Society, an accompanist for the McGill Choral Society, the Elgar Choir, and the Masonic Men's Choir in Montreal. She taught choral music at The Study (a private school for girls) in Westmount. After so-called retirement, she was Organist for the United Churches of Avoca and Harrington, for the Baptist Churches of Avoca and Rivington, and taught vocal music at the elementary school in Grenville, QC. At that time, she also created a Church Choir out of a dozen people (some of whom at the start could not read music) resulting in a confident and balanced group of performers. Never seeking the limelight, she derived great satisfaction from the development of and appreciation for beautiful music made by young performers, and retained the ability to play the piano and read any piece of music perfectly up until late 2007, when she was 90 years of age. The family would like to publicly thank the staff of the Garry J. Armstrong Home, for the exemplary care she received. REIMER, Elwin (Al) June 6, 1936 - May 11, 2008 Elwin (Al) Reimer passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, May 11, 2008 with his wife Susan Turner at his side. He was born 71 years ago at Lowe Farm in Manitoba and lived his life in the West. As an agrologist, Al had a deep connection to the land and continued to work well past retirement age. He was also an active member of the Bow River Lodge No. 1 and the Tin Lizzie Corps of the Shrine Temple, where he enjoyed the service and camaraderie. When he was not busy with his grandchildren, Al was known to swing his clubs and cheer on the home teams rain or shine. Al was well-loved, which is the true measure of a man. He will be dearly missed by his devoted wife Susan; his children, Brian, Andrea, Dean, Monica, and Scott; his grandchildren, Willis, Pearce, Roan, Cole, Dylan, Carson, Courtney, Matthew, Blair, and Jeffery; and by friends and family.
