Cherished mother of Lyle (Darlene), Carl (late Audry), Maurice (Dorothy), Pat (Patsy), Mike (Peggy), Bernice (Terry ) O'Connell, Glen (Cathy), Martina (Dennis ) Villeneuve, Merrill (Nora). Dearly loved grandma of 22 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren. Dear sister of Mary (late Basil) O'Keefe, Angus (Mary) Carroll, Gerald (Betty) Carroll. McKENDRY, Brian Raymond May 11, 1939 - May 11, 2008 Brian passed away after a prolonged battle with cancer and rheumatoid arthritis. Brian was born in Calgary, and was a lifelong resident of this city. He was a graduate of St. Mary's Boys High School. Trained as a petroleum technologist, he was a thirty-eight-year employee of Home Oil. He was a Life Member of the Alberta Society of Engineering Technologists. He was an avid student of military history and of aeronautics. He developed a library of impressive size around these interests. He was an aggressive collector of aircraft models and developed considerable expertise in the details and markings of all types of aircraft. Brian was predeceased by his parents John and Mary McKendry, by his sisters Mary Thomas and Isobel McNeil, and by his brother John McKendry. He is survived by his brothers, Robert of Kingston, Ontario and James of Calgary. He is survived also by nieces Audrey, Virginia, Michelle, Rachael, Renee, Kathleen and Colleen and by nephews Robert, John, Daniel, Philip, Alexander and Brian. The family extends its gratitude to the gracious caregivers at Intercare Southwood and the Rockyview General Hospital. The McKendry Family invites their friends and Brian's colleagues to join them in a celebration to mark Brian's passing. PARTINGTON, George Kenneth July 13, 1929 - May 8, 2008 It is with deep sadness that our family announces the peaceful passing of George Kenneth Partington on May 8, 2008. He passed away with his loving family by his side. Dad is survived by his wife Evelyn Partington, children, Jordy (Jacklynn), Drew, Pamela Ewtushik (Dean); also by his grandchildren Janelle, Jennifer, Tamara, Lindsey, Nolan and one great-grandson Riley. SODO, FATHER CLEM. On May 12, Father Clem passed away peacefully in his sleep after a courageous battle with cancer. Father Clem is predeceased by his parents Clem and Jeanne Sodo. He is remembered by his siblings Tim (Heidi Eicher), Tina, Peter (Dalia Kudzma), John (Johanne Guindon), as well as his nieces and nephews: Brent, Mitchell, Sarah Cartier (Adam Reider), Michelle Cartier (Alex Sirois), Kris (Terri Creagan), Erik, Darya, Heidemarie (Greg May), Alex (Rica Ramirez) and his great-nephew Ayden. He will also be sadly missed by his close circle of friends including Anne-Marie, Monique, Father Michel, John and Lynn as well as the parishioners of Saint Francis of Assisi and Good Shepherd churches. After getting his degree in Fine Arts, Father Clem spent his early years teaching, appreciating and creating art. Later in life, his calling towards the priesthood compelled him to return to University and attain his degree in Theology. Since then, he dedicated his time to his church and parishioners. Visitation will be on Wednesday, May 14 at Collins Clarke MacGillivray White at 307 Riverside Drive in St. Lambert from 2 to 5 as well as 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 15 at 2 p.m. at his parish of Saint Francis of Assisi Church at 844 Notre Dame, Saint Lambert. Born in Augusta Township, he was the eldest son of John Streight and the former Florence Davis. Beloved husband of the late Pearl Mussell. SUTHERLAND, Robert (Bob) Bruce 1940 - 2008 Robert Bruce Sutherland, beloved husband of Jeannette of thirty-nine years, passed away on Sunday, May 11, 2008 after a courageous battle with lung cancer at the age of 67 years. Bob was born in Toronto, ON on October 21, 1940. He was in the insurance business for forty-eight years, working for Continental Insurance, Great American Insurance in Toronto and Montreal and Gerling Global Insurance (Gcan). Bob was always generous to charitable organizations. Robert is survived by his loving wife Jeanette; his aunt Marg Guscot of Toronto; his cousins, John (Theresa) Tensee of Toronto, Susan (David) Reid of Victoria, John (Heather) Guscot of Toronto, and Patricia (Russ) Tiffin of Toronto. WILSON, Melissa Chavonne September 2, 1994 - May 9, 2008 Melissa Chavonne Wilson, beloved daughter of Dale and Dawn Wilson and older sister to Kaitlyn Wilson of Calgary, passed away on Friday, May 9, 2008 at the age of 13 years. Melissa was a beautiful and courageous spirit that fought a long and hard battle with a disease that would ultimately claim her life. The world that she knew was fraught with pain and the unknown, yet she never once voiced a complaint, or asked "why me?" The lives that she touched on this long journey are too numerous to mention, there is not a person whom she has met that will ever forget her wondrous spirit that was our daughter. Though she was limited by her illness in so many ways, she was still able to see the joy and beauty that was all around her. She was able to involve herself in the best way, so that she could travel a more normal journey than the one that was mapped out for her by God. A voracious reader, skilled cook and creative craftsperson, Sue was successful in both bookkeeping and sales but found her greatest joy in raising two sons, John Jr. and Shane, and three utterly devoted dogs: Rocky, Blondie and Sadie. She was often drawn to charitable works, canvassing for the Cancer Society of Ontario, the Rotary Club's Polio Plus campaign and several other causes. She will be remembered and greatly missed by her brother Dennis Nolan and wife Mary- Beth of Ottawa; sister Maureen Hanagan and husband Victor Marrow of Westchester, New York; daughter-in-law Jennifer Schick of Toronto, best friends JoAnn, Carm, Jackie and so many others. TAYLOR, Thelma Norene - Thelma passed away at Grey Bruce Health Services in Meaford at the age of 84, on Saturday May 3, 2008, after a brief illness. Born in Euphrasia Township on April 9, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Harman and Clara (née Hindman) Cook. Thelma married Arthur Herbert Taylor on October 26, 1946. The couple enjoyed working together in the family orchards in Clarksburg for many years. Bird watching, quilting, gardening and baking apple pies were some of Thelma's many interests. Thelma will be remembered for her ever present smile and quiet manner. She was committed not only to her family but also to her church and community. She will be forever remembered as a loving mother by her daughter Bonnie and her husband Brian McColgan of Meaford, son Ted Taylor and his wife Sonia of Chatham, and daughter Joyce Gauci of Meaford. Thelma was predeceased by her beloved husband Art in February 1994 and by her daughter Linda Thoms of Craigleith in August 2004. Thelma was the cherished mother-in-law of Brenda Taylor of Clarksburg and Stewart Thoms of Craigleith. Thelma will be fondly remembered by her grandchildren: Taylor and Kelly; Michelle (Kevin), Michael (Anna), Meghan (Mike), Joey and Jessie; Erin (Blue); Dustin and Josh and by her great-granddaughters; Caitlin, Keira and Kendra. She was predeceased by her brother, Beverley Cook of Rocklyn, in September 2000 and is warmly remembered by her sister-in-law Eileen Cook of Owen Sound. Thelma will be sadly missed by her sisters-in-law Edna (late Fred) Taylor of Victoria B.C. and formerly of Clarksburg, Edna (late Willard) Julian of Meaford, Elsie (late Don) Watts of Clarksburg, and Audrey (late Howard) Eagles, of Meaford. Her several nieces and nephews and their families will also recall their Aunt Thelma with great affection. Thelma's funeral arrangements were entrusted to the FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME in Meaford and funeral services, officiated by Reverend Dr. Robert Buchanan, were conducted at St. Paul's Presbyterian Church in Thornbury on Tuesday May 6, 2008. Son-in-law Brian McColgan and son Ted Taylor offered remembrances of Thelma in tribute to her life during the service. She is predeceased by brothers Lawrence and John Van Kessel. Johanna was a longtime member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Branch 28 Legion, a volunteer at St. Joseph's Hospital and extremely talented chef and cake decorator for many years. STONE, DIANE ELIZABETH The best gift ever given to us. Born on Christmas Day, 1943 in Fredericton, NB - Diane Stone passed away after fighting a heroic battle with pancreatic cancer on Saturday, May 10, 2008. The older sibling of the three, Diane lived with her parents and two brothers, Garnett and Dale MacMullin until she moved out in 1962 to pursue a degree as a Medical Laboratory Technician in Saint John, NB. However, before she left, she met the love of her life, Joe Stone Jr. The two of them had a chance encounter at her parent's place where Joe was dropping off some pictures to her mother. They instantly had a connection and after Diane graduated they were married in 1965. They continued to live, work and raise their three daughters in Fredericton from then on. Diane worked as a laboratory technician at the DECH for over 40 years and enjoyed working with all the people tremendously. Diane was always quite shy and quiet, but when she laughed, it would fill the room. She loved to travel and try new things. Her biggest fear was that fear would stop her from doing something she wanted to do. She always encouraged herself and those around her to "just do it and enjoy it." Diane is survived by her three daughters, Karen and her partner Jordon, Suzan and her husband Shayne, and Christina; her two beautiful grand children, Rebecca and Caiden; her brothers, Garnett and his wife Mieko, Dale and his wife Susan; her nephew Robin and niece's, Jillian and Kelly. In addition to her parents, Lloyd and Marjorie MacMullin, Diane was preceded in death by her husband, Joe KR Stone Jr. Thank you to all our family and friends who not only helped out this year but for all your love, prayers and support throughout. Visitation for the public will be between 7 to 9pm Thursday, May 15 at McAdam's Select Community Funeral Home on 160 York Street. M. MAURICE DESLAURIERS 1930-2008 VAL-D’OR - Est décédé le 1er mai 2008 au Centre hospitalier les Eskers d’Amos, à l’âge de 77 ans, M. Maurice Deslauriers, époux de Mme Madeleine Germain, domicilié à Val-d’Or.
