Loving father of Robert (Monique) of North Bay, Claude (Elizabeth) of North Bay, Micheline Beckett (Charles) of Oshawa, Suzanne Martel (Alain) of Redbridge, Daniel (Lorraine) of North Bay and Cecile Beaulne-Welk (Dan) of Barrie. Predeceased by his son Michel. Sadly missed by grandchildren Jason Hill, Michel, Luc, Matthieu, Sylvie, Amanda and Sarah Beaulne, Eric and Stéphane Martel, David, Michael and Jennifer Beckett, Emiley and Kayla Welk and by 10 great grandchildren. Survived by his sisters Lucienne (Reginald Daoust) and Aline (Edward Roussi, predeceased) and brothers Omer (Lise), Laurent (France), Albert (Anna), Armand (Jeannette), Aimé (Juliette) and David (Jeannine). Predeceased by his parents Leonard and Marie-Anne and by his sisters Yvette (Allan Haggie, also predeceased) and Cecile. Friends may call at the Martyn & Sloan ‘Mattawa Chapel' on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The funeral mass will be held at St. Anne's Church on Thursday at 11 am. VIGNEUX, Patricia (Courtemanche), épouse de feu Léo Vigneux, est décédée au Centre de santé de Coaticook le 12 mai 2008 à l’âge de 90 ans. Madame Courtemanche Vigneux laisse dans le deuil, ses enfants : Gisèle (Bernard Prévost), Normand (Florence Goddard), France (Paul Thibault), Claire (Guy Bouchard), Michelle (Sylvio Delisle), Fernand (Lise Gauthier), elle était aussi la mère de feu Daniel, elle laisse également dans le deuil ses 22 petits-enfants et 21 arrière-petits-enfants ainsi qu’un arrière arrière-petit-fils. WILSON, Melissa Chavonne September 2, 1994 - May 9, 2008 Melissa Chavonne Wilson, beloved daughter of Dale and Dawn Wilson and older sister to Kaitlyn Wilson of Calgary, passed away on Friday, May 9, 2008 at the age of 13 years. Melissa was a beautiful and courageous spirit that fought a long and hard battle with a disease that would ultimately claim her life. The world that she knew was fraught with pain and the unknown, yet she never once voiced a complaint, or asked "why me?" The lives that she touched on this long journey are too numerous to mention, there is not a person whom she has met that will ever forget her wondrous spirit that was our daughter. Though she was limited by her illness in so many ways, she was still able to see the joy and beauty that was all around her. She was able to involve herself in the best way, so that she could travel a more normal journey than the one that was mapped out for her by God. GVORA, Steve (Ripsaw) 2008-05-13 Mr. Steve Gvora, age 82 years, resident of Grandview Lodge passed away peacefully at T.B.R.H.S.C. with family by his side on Sunday, May 11, 2008. Steve was employed with Canada Steamship Lines for 37 1/2 years until its closure in 1980. Steve enjoyed back yard work, puttering in the yard shed and fishing at the Neebing River and Empire dock. He also enjoyed the casino, spending time with his family and friends and visiting relatives. Steve is survived by his children Eddie, Diane Nowak (Walter), Doreen and William, grandchildren Tracy and Kellie Nowak, Kevin Gvora (Domenica) Brian Voss and Billy Jr. Great grandchildren Victoria, Alexa, Alyssa, Jennifer and Kara. He is also survived by one brother, Peter Gvora. Steve was predeceased by his wife Helen on January 12, 2008, his parents John and Theresa and brother John. According to Steve‘s wishes, cremation has taken place. Funeral mass will be held at St. Peter‘s Roman Catholic Church on Friday, May 16, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. celebrated by Rev. Wayne Bolton s.j. Patricia "Pat" A. Gallagher 1922 - 2008 With her well-worn bible close by, Patricia A. Gallagher moved on to be with her parents, Percy and Ivy (Mollins) Gallagher, and with her dear sister Deborah. Patricia passed away at the Moncton Hospital on May 11th, 2008 following a lengthy period of failing health. Born in Moncton in 1922, Pat was a graduate of Moncton High School. She was a member of the Parkside Baptist Church where she had sung in the choir and had also taught Sunday school. Pat also was a member of the Lois Winters Missionary Society. After working at Mr. Bray's Pansy Shoppe for 30 years, Pat joined the administration staff at the Moncton Community College from where she retired after 11 years. Pat's greatest joys were her many friendships, her flower garden, her horses, and her many wonderful dogs over the years. Pat is survived by several cousins. There will be a brief viewing prior to the funeral service, which will be held at Tuttle Brothers Memorial Chapel, 171 Lutz Street, Moncton on Wednesday May 14, 2008 at 11:00am with Rev. BAXTER, Marjorie Helen December 18, 1922 - May 8, 2008 Marjorie Helen Baxter of Calgary, passed away on Thursday, May 8, 2008 at the age of 85 years. Helen was born in Swift Current, Sask. on a Sunday evening. Her family moved to many locations throughout Canada as her father performed his duties as a member of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. Helen considered Weyburn, Sask. her home and was a proud graduate of its educational system. She followed her father's thirty-five year calling by serving thirty-six years with the RCMP as a highly respected stenographer. She took great pride in being able to greet members and veterans of the force by their regimental numbers even after her retirement. Helen was very involved with the Canadian and International badminton scene. She traveled to many different countries as an International badminton umpire and was always willing to lend her support to a sport she loved. She will be remembered for her cheerful personality and helpfulness to one and all. She leaves behind family and friends that she loved and relied on. BULMAN, George (Jody) Aged 40, passed away suddenly but peacefully in his sleep in Ottawa on May 6. Born in Quebec City, Jody was raised in Dartmouth but spent most of his adult life in Toronto where he was employed by Canada Post. Jody had a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Manitoba and was currently enrolled in a Masters program in Underwater Archaeology at the University of Flinders in Australia. An avid outdoorsman, his pursuits included scuba diving, sea kayaking, and sailing. He was a member of the Canadian Forces Naval Reserve for many years in Halifax and Toronto, and in recent years he served in the Army Reserve in Toronto. Jody is survived by his parents Kenneth and Doreen Bulman of Halifax, sister Jill of Edmonton, and brother Marc of Toronto. His ashes will be placed in the ocean at a future time. CHIBRY, Fred November 14, 1926 - May 10, 2008 With deep sadness the family of Fred Chibry announces his peaceful passing on Saturday, May 10, 2008 at the age of 81 years. Fred was predeceased by his loving wife Corinne in 1993; four siblings, Mike, Nick, Mary and Frances. Fred will be lovingly remembered by his three children, Danny (Lois) Chibry, Toni (Lindsay) Keating, Tami (Bob) Scott as well as his grandchildren, Mathew (Nancy) Chibry, Sara (Chris) Saunders, Nick and Nathan Keating, Tyler, Cody and Cady Scott; great-granddaughters, Brooke, Anna, Kate and Maggie as well as many nieces, nephews and his honorary grandsons. Fred started work as a teenager at the Calgary Brewery and was employed there until he took an early retirement to travel with Corinne. Dad enjoyed being a snow bird for several years and traveling to lots of places with Mom. He also enjoyed fishing, golfing, dancing, bird hunting, Chauffeuring and playing games with Cady and curling at the Ogden Legion Branch No. 154 where he held a membership for many years. Fred also really loved company, and always had a cold beer with the boys! Everyone always loved the hilarious stories he always told. Dad requested not to have a Funeral Service. McKENDRY, Brian Raymond May 11, 1939 - May 11, 2008 Brian passed away after a prolonged battle with cancer and rheumatoid arthritis. Brian was born in Calgary, and was a lifelong resident of this city. He was a graduate of St. Mary's Boys High School. Trained as a petroleum technologist, he was a thirty-eight-year employee of Home Oil. He was a Life Member of the Alberta Society of Engineering Technologists. He was an avid student of military history and of aeronautics. He developed a library of impressive size around these interests. He was an aggressive collector of aircraft models and developed considerable expertise in the details and markings of all types of aircraft. Brian was predeceased by his parents John and Mary McKendry, by his sisters Mary Thomas and Isobel McNeil, and by his brother John McKendry. He is survived by his brothers, Robert of Kingston, Ontario and James of Calgary. He is survived also by nieces Audrey, Virginia, Michelle, Rachael, Renee, Kathleen and Colleen and by nephews Robert, John, Daniel, Philip, Alexander and Brian. The family extends its gratitude to the gracious caregivers at Intercare Southwood and the Rockyview General Hospital. The McKendry Family invites their friends and Brian's colleagues to join them in a celebration to mark Brian's passing. O'NEIL, Jack Keith Retired Captain 38 Years Ottawa Fire Department Suddenly, Sunday, May 11, 2008 age 67. Jack is survived by his beloved wife Mavis Kidd, and his loving children Marlene, Dan, Kelly (Steve Tyrell), Ron (Deborah Tagornak) and Denis. Adored Pops of grandchildren Shannon, Sean, Liam, Bryan, Katelanne, Jack, Anna, Samuel and Dante and Andrew. Survived by sister Audrey Saal. Predeceased by his parents Roy O'Neil and Margaret Romhild and by siblings Willis, Douglas, Hilda Taylor, Joyce, Elroy "Norky" (Eileen), Donnie, Melvin (Anita), Darlene (Ken Nierenhausen) and by granddaughter Brittany. He will be fondly remembered by Melodee Mulligan, Kate Buckley, Silvanna Ursini and by many nieces, nephews, in-laws, friends and neighbours. WOLFE, Lawrence (Larry) Murray It is with immense sadness we announce the passing of Wendy's soulmate, best friend and groom at the young age of 51. Larry passed at home, May 7, 2008 with his bride at his side and surrounded by friends. Larry was a special man who will always be remembered for his mischievous nature and genuine love of life. Lar had a way about him that made everyone feel important, interesting and special. Larry enjoyed significant success throughout his twenty-three year career with PHH/Arval starting out in Calgary, AB, and over the past ten years in Vancouver, BC. He was well respected in the business community. Coach Wolfe touched many young lives with his tireless passion for hockey - coaching in the Calgary Royals and Buffalo junior hockey systems. Lar is survived by his bride of fifteen years, Wendy Best, Sidney, BC his Aunt Joan and Uncle Doug Ross, Pictou County, NS and numerous friends and extended family. We would like to acknowledge the many healthcare professionals that helped Larry throughout the past year.
