CAREN, Marie 2008-05-12 After a courageous battle with cancer, in the early hours of April 8, 2008, Marie took her last breath to be with our Lord. She passed away in Thunder Bay on the hospice unit at St. Joseph‘s Care Group. She was able to hug, kiss and say goodbye to her beloved husband, her children and grandchildren and for this we are forever thankful. We wish all of our family and friends to be present to celebrate mom‘s life. Marie is survived by her husband Bill, her children Lisa, Dwayne and Samanthe, by 5 grandchildren and numerous other relatives. A memorial service to celebrate Marie‘s life will be held Thursday, May 15th at 2:00 pm in St. Luke‘s Anglican Church in Dryden. Interment of ashes will take place at a later date. Should friends desire, donations to the CT Scan Fund in Dryden may be made through the Stevens Funeral Homes "Moffat Chapel", P.O. Box 412, Dryden, ON P8N 2Z1. This would enable patients in Dryden early diagnosis and eliminate the stress of travel.

KIERSTEAD, VIOLET E.- The death of Mrs. Violet E. (Evans) Kierstead, wife of the late Charles C. Kierstead, of Saint John West occurred at her residence on May 9, 2008. Born in Saint John on May 8, 1912, she was the daughter of the late Oliver and Anna (Moore) Evans. Mrs. Kierstead was also known as "Toots" or "Tooie" Kierstead. Mrs. Kierstead was a hands-on owner of the Kierstead Trailer Park since the early '50s, just selling the business in 2005. She was also very active with the Carleton Curling Club. She was a loving, giving, and kind woman for family and friends. The "candy / fairy lady" was known to all the neighbourhood children. Any time of the day, Toots' policy was open door with lots of candy. She is survived by her sister, Florence "Billie" Burns of Saint John; two nephews, Donald (Nancy) Burns of Calgary, AB, and Robert (Claire) Burns of Richmond Hill, Ontario; one niece, Heather-Anne (Ken) Klein of Peachland, BC, and several great-nieces and great-nephews. Resting at Castle "Fallsview" Funeral Home (634-1701) 309 Lancaster Ave., Saint John. Visiting will take place on Monday from 7 to 9 and Tuesday 2 to 4, 7 to 9 p.m. The funeral service will take place at Fallsview Chapel on Wednesday at 1 pm. Ivan Webb DORCHESTER- The passing of Ivan Webb, 80, of Dorchester, occurred peacefully at home in the arms of his family on Saturday, May 10, 2008. Born June 7, 1927 in Tracey, NB, he was the son of the late Elliott and Dora (McCleary) Webb. A member of the Dorchester Baptist Church and past Master of Sussex Lodge #4 F & A M. He worked at the Dorchester Penitentiary for over 34 years and enjoyed fishing, gardening, & golf. GLENN, Thomas Hugh Retired Staff Sergeant, Ottawa Police Service Peacefully on Sunday, May 11, 2008 at the age of 88. Loving father of Brian (Lynn) and Beverley (John McCallum). Cherished grandfather of Steven, Christina and 5 great-grandchildren. Survived by his brother Willy. Predeceased by his wives Agnes Mary "Betty" Fraser, Vera Murray and Dorothy Chandler as well as brother Manley James and sister Lois. He will be fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews and step-sons. A native of Ottawa, Tom was the eldest son of Hugh Manley and Margaret Glenn. Following High School in Ottawa he served in the Canadian Army in WWII; played football with the Toronto Argonauts and Ottawa Rough Riders. He served in the Ottawa Police Service from 1947 until 1981. He enjoyed hockey, golf and travel until age and declining health restricted his activities. SANDOLA, (Grottola) Maria - At the Greater Niagara General Hospital on Saturday, May 10, 2008 in her 85th year, was taken by the Angels peacefully with her family at her side. Dear wife of the late Biagio Sandolo (2002). Mother of Nancy Settanni and her husband Joe, Frances Lamascese and her husband Tony. Grandmother of Vicand Tracy Lamacese , Bill and Sarah Lamascese, and Steve Lamascese, Antonietta Mannella, Anna Maria Settanni, great grandmother to Lucas and Alyssamaria Mannella, Teo Biagio, Jake Lamascese, and Michael Anthony Lamascese. Survived by her sister Rosa, and her brothers Vincenzo and Rafaele. Mrs. Sandolo was born on January 1, 1923 in Zuppino Italy to her parents Francesco and Iuliano Grotta. Maria also had a twin brother Rocco. Maria immigrated to Canada in 1955 with her daughters Nancy and Frances. Maria was employed at Mr. Rosehope's farm, and also in a rag shop, Hotel Chambermaid, Kitchen on Clifton Hill, and Chefboyardee. Maria enjoyed tending her garden and baking cookies. She will be sadly missed. KEARNS, Dale March 21, 1940 - May 10, 2008 It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Dale at 68 years of age in the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre. EMBELTON, DELMER H. - At the Aroostook Medical Centre, Presque Isle, ME, May 9, 2008, Mr. Delmer H. Embelton of Presque Isle passed away at the age of 70 years. He was the husband of Marie (McCarthy) Embelton. Born at California Settlement, NB, in 1938, he was a son of the late Grafton LeRoy and Kathleen (McCarthy) Embelton. Delmer was a 3rd degree member of the Knights of Columbus with 20 years service. He was a retired Presque Isle Police Officer. After retirement, he worked as an S.A.D. 1 School Bus Driver, a Deputy Sheriff and a School Crossing Guard. He was a 40-year member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. He loved family, friends, golfing, Red Sox, woodworking, puttering around the house, putting on meals and especially his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, four children, Michael (Mary) of Middleboro, MA, Hubert (Cindy) of Hermon, ME, Todd (Rhonda) of Squapan Lake, ME and Della Grass (Troy) of Mars Hill, ME; fifteen grandchildren, Teonna, Shane, Jared, Kyle, Devin, Kara, Carter, Rebecca, Delaney, Matthew, Kristen, Mackayla, Jordyn, Chandler and Melisa; three great grand children, Hayden, Jacob and Abbie; two sisters, Norma Langer and Maxine Theriault of Ocala, FL, as well as nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by an infant daughter, Lana; three brothers, Norris, William and Leigh. GOLLER, Shirley Marie (nee Buss) - Peacefully, on Saturday, May 10th, 2008 at the St. Catharines General Hospital in her 82nd year. Beloved wife of the late Wolfgang Goller (1999). Loving mother of Louise Goller (Norman Kenny) and Paul Goller. Loving Grandmother of Jess and Jen. Shirley was known for her love of travel and entertaining her family and friends. MOAR, Alvin Roy May 4, 1918 - May 9, 2008 Alvin Roy Moar, beloved husband of Marion Alice (Wright) Moar of Calgary passed away on Friday, May 9, 2008 at the age of 90 years. Alvin was born in New Perth, P.E.I. and traveled west to Calgary in 1947. He served in the Armed Forces in 1941 and was awarded a War Medal before he was honorably discharged. Alvin started and was a partner in his own company Moar Construction in 1968. He retired in 1983 where he enjoyed camping, an Alaskan Cruise and having coffee daily with the "Over The Hill Club" at the Brentwood Co-op. Alvin had a large circle of friends with whom he enjoyed many happy times. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 264 since 1981. Alvin married Marion in Calgary on May 21, 1953 and they have had fifty-four wonderful years together. He will be sadly missed by his wife Marion and five children Susan (Joe) Thivierge of Calgary, Sharon Moar of Whitehorse, Doug (Cathy) Moar of Calgary, Don Moar of Calgary, Bill Moar (Dianne LaBlanc) of Calgary. Alvin is also survived by his cherished grandchildren, Kelsey, Erik and Kerry Moar of Calgary, Megan Mills of Whitehorse and four step-grandchildren Jason (Pamela) and Chelsea (Doogie) Thivierge of Montreal, Jamie and Bradley of Calgary and two step-great-grandsons. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews in P.E.I., Alberta and B.C. Marie-Jeanne Roberge Chartrand, on April 30, 2008, died at Tri-Town Extendicare in Haileybury. She had been ill for a few months. She was born in Belle Vallée on August 7, 1922 to Oscar Roberge and Alma Houle and was raised by Joe and Emma Ethier. Educated in Belle Vallée, she married Valère Chartrand there on November 26, 1941. She and her husband were farmers in Thornloe from 1941-72, then moved to Earlton for their retirement. Mrs. Chartrand loved to play cards and bingo. She is survived by her daughters Fernande Godmaire (friend Jean-Yves) and Gertrude Rivard; sons Roland (wife Lise) and Conrad (wife Suzanne) ; 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; and her sister Soeur Yvette Roberge de la Providence. Mrs. Chartrand was predeceased by her husband Valère in 1973. The funeral was arranged by McDonald Funeral Home in Englehart with the service conducted May 3 by Father Marcel Bruneau at St. Jean Baptiste Church in Earlton. Pallbearers were Luc Rivard, Etienne Chartrand, Véronique Chartrand, Martin Godmaire, Doris Chartrand and Garry Bennett. Burial is at the Earlton Cemetery. INGERSOLL, LILLIAN JANE The passing of Lillian Jane (Stewart) Ingersoll, of Fredericton NB, occurred on Saturday May 10, 2008 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born in Taymouth NB on March 21, 1921. She was the daughter of the late Elijah and Annabelle (Wade) Stewart. She worked at the Lord Beaverbrook hotel for 40 years as a waitress, hostess and manager of the Gift Shop. She is survived by two sons, Douglas (Caroline) Ingersoll of Quebec and Brian Ingersoll of Halifax, NS; daughter, Rose Marie Ingersoll (John) of Magaguadavic NB; two brothers, Douglas Stewart of Fredericton, NB and Basil (Faye) Stewart of Taymouth NB; sister, Eva (John) Munn of Holtville NB; eight grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by son, Ira Ingersoll; four brothers, Scott, John, Ken and Percy Stewart; one sister, Florence Cass. PAWLOWSKI, Teofil (Ted) - Passed away at the Georgetown Hospital on Saturday, May 10, 2008. Ted is survived by his wife Caroline (Bozena) Neziol; his daughter Anna and her husband John Vanstone, his son Richard and his wife Brenda Browning. He is also survived by his loving grandchildren Jonathan and Lindsay Ann. He also leaves a brother Henry and sister Ann in Poland and many nieces and nephews. Ted was born in Rypin, Poland on August 12th, 1920. He is predeceased by his parents John and Helen and a sister Joan. He was a life member of St. Joseph's Church, the Polish Mutual Benefit Society and the Musician Union of Brantford. He retired from Spalding Sports of Brantford. Ted was the founder and leader of the band, Swaying Brass that played in the Brantford and surrounding area from the fifties through the eighties.
