KELLY, Michael - In loving Memory of Michael “Mike“ Kelly, 65 years who passed away at his residence in Hanmer on Saturday, May 10th, 2008. Beloved husband of Jeannine (neé Deschênes) of Hanmer. Throughout his life, he worked for several mining companies across Northern Ontario. Proud of having his pilot's license, Mike truly enjoyed flying. Helen Morrisey 1926 - 2008 Helen Morrisey, 81, of Forest Dale Home, Riverside-Albert passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 10, 2008 at the Moncton Hospital with her family by her side. Helen was born in Harvey, Albert County, N.B. on July 6, 1926. The daughter of the late Roland and Hazel (Anderson) Smith. Helen worked in different Special Care Homes, last working at Elderkin's Special Care home in Riverside-Albert. She was a housewife and mother. She cherished the times spent with her family. She will be deeply missed by her two sons, Michael (Susan) of Riverside-Albert, Curtis (Jeannie) of Petitcodiac and by her precious grandchildren. She will also be missed by her sisters and brothers; several nieces and nephews; and by her extended family of Forest Dale Home. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her beloved husband James and by a son Samuel. Honoring her wishes there will be no visitation. The funeral service will be held at the Albert County Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 13, 2008 at 2:00 pm with Mr. Hugh Morrisey officiating. Interment will be in the Hopewell Cemetery, Hopewell Hill. HOLMES, James “Jim” Clifton - On Friday, May 9, 2008 James “Jim” Clifton Holmes passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family at the age of 58. Beloved husband and best friend of Deborah (Sutch) Holmes. Devoted father of Bret and his wife Janel Holmes, Zac Holmes, Graham Holmes, Tiffany Holmes and Angela Holmes. Cherished grandfather to Alexander, Andrew, Elliot, Ethan, Joseph, Julia, Catherine and Roseanne all of Milwaukee Wisconsin. Dear son of Barbara and the late Ken Holmes and son-in-law of Steve and Glenda Sutch. BROWN, Jacqueline Beatrice - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jacqueline Beatrice Brown nee Clusieau on May 10th, 2008 with family by her side. Born in Detroit in 1928 Jackie is survived by her loving sisters, Lucille Cummings of Ottawa, Raymonde Hrynuik of Ottawa, Rochelle Martin of Val Caron and Paulette Brown (David) of Barrie and brother, Guy Clusieau (Ann) of Mississauga. She was predeceased by her sister, Lorraine Danton. Jackie married Vern Brown in 1953, whom she was devoted to until his death in 2005 and with whom she had her cherished children, Karen (Gerald) of Lamont, Alberta and Wayne (Nancy), of Timmins. The lights of Jackie's life were her two grandsons, Samuel and Harrison Brown, who will always hold their Memere's love in the hearts. Jackie's relatives by marriage and her nieces and nephews and their children were all touched deeply by her goodness and will remember her most fondly. Jackie's many friends remember her for her selflessness and generosity of spirit and for her loves and passions which included her music, the U.S.A., playing golf and cards, and Tiger Woods. SMITH, Ruth (Nigen) January 21, 1917 - May 11, 2008 Ruth (Nigen) Smith passed away peacefully at the age of 91 years on Sunday, May 11, 2008. Ruth was born on January 21, 1917 in New York to Jacob and Fanny (Rubenstein) Nigen. She grew up in the Bronx and Washington Heights with her three older brothers, Neil, Joseph, and William. Ruth had no dream of moving to Calgary, Canada until she met and married her Canadian husband, Billy Smith in 1938. Ruth then became a member of "The Smith/Shumiatcher" family because Billy (deceased 1967) was one of eleven children (Abe, Eva, Morris, Annie, Harry, Sara, Ethel, Fanny, Bessie, Bella) born to Chasia and Judah Shumiatcher. Until her death, she became the last living Aunt and Matriarch of the Smith/Shumiatcher family. When Ruth's husband Billy was alive, she worked side by side with him in a heritage landmark news and novelty store called "Billy's News" where she was affectionately addressed as "Mrs. Billy". Daughter Janice was born in 1941, to be followed by a second daughter, Sylvia born in 1946. After husband Billy's passing in 1967 Ruth became a "single" working mother, by becoming a Customs Officer in a family business familiarly known as United News. She worked for twenty-five more years until she retired at age seventy-five. Ruth explained that until computers took over, she single-handedly and without one single error, cleared every magazine herself. Ruth continued to work even after surviving the tragic deaths of her two daughters, Sylvia who passed away in April 1980, to be followed by Janice's death in April of 1995. Ruth will be forever loved, remembered and missed by many friends and family who appreciated her wit, humour, intelligence, wisdom, generosity, emotional fortitude and for being an upstanding and highly regarded true "woman of valour". ORELIEN (ORIELLE) ALBERT De GAGNÉ Monday, May 12, 2008 It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our loving husband, father, and grandfather, Orielle De Gagné, 76, of Fort Frances, Ont., on May 10, 2008 at La Verendrye Hospital with his family by his side. Orielle was born Nov. 21, 1931 in La Broquerie, Man. to the late Valeda and Odilas De Gagné. Orielle moved with his family to Alberton Township in 1935, where he grew up on the family farm. On July 31, 1952, Orielle was united in marriage to the love of his life, Pearl Plourde, and together they made their home in Fort Frances. Orielle started his working life in construction and then spent many years as a caretaker for the Catholic school board. He also served on both the public and Catholic school boards. Orielle was instrumental in the planning of Columbus Place apartments, where he was manager for 15 years until his retirement. Active in the Knights of Columbus, Orielle held positions of Grand Knight and District Deputy. As a member of St. Mary’s Parish, his faith was an important part of his life. Orielle had a great love for the outdoors, and he and Pearl spent many years camping and fishing at different spots throughout the district. Recent summers were spent at Oak Grove Camp, where they made many friends. Dad’s joy was sharing his love of camping with his grandchildren and time spent around the camp fires. He showed great pride in his grandchildren, always there to watch their many activities. Other hobbies included carpentry, gardening, and bird-watching. Orielle was predeceased by his parents; brothers, Laurence, Charlie, and René; sister, Lucille; sisters-in-law, Madelaine De Gagné and Rose Marie Ireton; brothers-in-law, Edward Plourde and Jean-Paul LaFleur; nieces, Caron De Gagné and Jana Rae Ireton; and nephew, Paul LaFleur. Orielle is survived by his wife, Pearl and sons, Randy (Cathy), Michael (Sheri), and Robert (Penny); seven grandchildren, Christina (Darren) Love, Ryan, Gavin (Danielle), Kalon (Susan Mercure), Joshua, Sarah, and Spencer. LaGRANDEUR, Edward James (Jim) Passed away at Pincher Creek, Alberta after a short journey with lung cancer on May 8, 2008 at the age of 70 years. Jim was born and raised in Pincher Creek, leaving at the age of nineteen years to begin his career in the Alberta oil patch in the drilling industry, which became his profession and his passion. In 1970 the family moved overseas, living in Algeria, Spain, Holland and Scotland, with Jim drilling on land and off-shore. The family returned to Pincher Creek in 1977, but Jim still commuted overseas to work in the Cameroons, Nigeria, Libya and Brunei. When the drilling industry picked up in Canada he worked closer to home. In the 1990's Jim decided he needed a change and became owner operator of his own trucking business, hauling cattle, grain and fertilizer, which brought him into contact with many new people. By 2000 the lure of drilling became too great and he spent these last years back to his first love, the oil patch, the last four of which was with Talisman Energy in the Hinton field and these were the years he enjoyed the most. Jim is survived by his wife June of nearly fifty-two years; sons: Terrance, Barry (Sherri) and Jerry (Shari) of Pincher Creek; his daughter Jaime of Cortes Island, B.C.; eight grandchildren and by his sisters Marilyn (Glen) Willett of Sparwood, B.C. and Nadine (Lyle) Pleasants of Morinville, Alberta. Jim was predeceased by his parents Walter and Myrtle and by his brother Graham. ANDERSON, Bill 2008-05-12 At Louise Marshall Hospital, Mount Forest on Wednesday May 7, 2008 after a brief illness. William Fairweather Anderson, born in Thunder Bay (Fort William), in his 86th year. Husband of Marjorie (Parks). Loved father of Glenn (Sandra), Douglas (Susanne), and Barbara. Will be greatly missed by grandchildren Lindsey, Samantha, Caitlyn and Timothy, sister Marilyn Paxton and many nephews and nieces. Predeceased by first wife Joan (Dickson) and son David. Captain Anderson was a WW2 veteran and served 28 years with the Royal Canadian Air Force and Canadian Forces and retired after 17 years with the City of Kitchener as Operations Supervisor. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Bill‘s life will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 134, Mount Forest on Friday may 16th at 1:00p.m. Donations to the Canadian Diabetes Association or a charity of your choice in lieu of flowers would be appreciated by the family. Vaillant, Maurice 2008-05-12 In Loving Memory Of May 15, 1933 ~ April 10, 2008 Born in Virden, Manitoba, he spent his early years in Baird, Ontario, and moved to Vancouver as a young man were he met his wife Shirley. He retired in 1987 from his position as General Equipment and Maintenance Manager for Canadian Stevedoring, moved to Hope and later Agassiz. He passed away from this life peacefully in the Chilliwack Hospital surrounded by his family. Moe is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Shirley; his adored children Cheryl (Kesh), Denise (Ron), Maurice (Anna-Marie), Shirley-Marie (Rob), Darcy (Jamie) and Reg (Shirley); thirteen grandchildren; two great grandchildren; a brother, Eugene; sisters Doreen Gould and Joan Meservia. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and five sisters. He will be dearly missed by his family and many friends. Moe‘s passion for racing cars transferred to his sons and became a family affair that still continues today. He loved the outdoors, fishing and hunting; traveling south where he enjoyed Bluegrass festivals, sprint car racing and trying his luck at the casinos. He was friend of Bill Wilson.

She will be lovingly remembered by her eleven grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Olive is survived by her dear brothers Mike and Floyd Conway and is predeceased by her brothers Gerald and Harold and sisters Laura, Ida and Viola.
