CHISHOLM, Henry Gallacher - Peacefully at Afton Park Place on Saturday May 3rd, 2008 Henry Gallacher Chisholm, age 82 of Sarnia. Husband of the late Elsie May (Hunt) Chisholm (March 15th, 2008) for the past 61 years. Father of David Chisholm and his wife Marlene of Sarnia. Loving Grandfather of Sherri, Steve, Lisa, Lori and Jason Chisholm. Great Grandfather to Leya, Ryan, Erica, Kyle and Logan. A celebration of Henry's life will be held from the chapel of the D.J. She was born in Moore Township and was a daughter of the late Frederick and Pricilla (Dixon) Hicks, She was a member of the Port Lambton United Church. Beloved wife of George Clark of Wallaceburg. KING, John Franklyn - In his 94th year passed away peacefully at his home in Forest on Sunday, May 4th, 2008. Devoted and loving husband of 61 years to Doris (Fisher) King. He was loved and cherished by his family. Loving father of Beverly Fenner-Peters and her husband Gordon and Nancy Hogarth and her husband Grant. Loved grandpa of Brenda Saunders (Mike), Jim Fenner, Jon Fenner (Julie), Crystal DeSchutter and fiancé Dennis Hillier and Ed DeSchutter and fiancé Melanie Urquhart. Loved great grandpa of Corey and Caitlyn Saunders and poppa to Kolton Fenner. Predeceased by his parents Frank and Ettie King and step-mother Cora King. Also predeceased by his sisters Christina Patterson and Alma Murray; brothers George King and Stanley King and son-in- law Jim Fenner. John was a farmer in Plympton Township for many years before retiring to Forest. During his life, he was a councilor and reeve of Plympton Township, was a Lambton County councilor and served on numerous municipal committees. POLUCK, Frank Chester August 26, 1921 - May 3, 2008 Frank Chester Poluck passed away on Saturday, May 3, 2008 at the age of 86 years. Frank was born on August 26, 1921 in Hubalta, AB. He resided in the Calgary area for most of his life, and served in WWII from July 1942 to March 1946 with the RCASC (1 MAC). He is lovingly remembered by his son Randy (Rita) Poluck, daughter Brenda (Bryan) Dalrymple, and granddaughter Amanda Poluck, all of Calgary. He is also survived by his twin sisters Elsie Grant and Mary Robertson. Frank was predeceased by his wife, Cleo, in 2006, and by brothers Stan, John, Robert ("Bronc"), and sister Kate. He is also survived by many loving relations in the Poluck and Campbell Families. ALDRIDGE, Charles Stewart - Born December 19, 1917. Died on Saturday, May 3, 2008 at the Port Colborne General Hospital. He was a devoted and loving husband to his wife Barbara also devoted to his stepdaughter Patricia and her husband Donald Berg. Fondly remembered by his grandchildren Jayne and James Berg, DiAnne and Walt Clapp. Great grandchildren Tabeah Clapp, Juvaleen and Jason Whiteford, Chelsea and Marty Misener, Joshua, Jordan and Kelly Berg. Predeceased by his parents Jesse and Nelson Aldridge, a brother John, sisters Jean and Madelyn. Charles was born and raised in Caledonia and received his education as a design Engineer in California. He worked in Vancouver in that capacity and had created an invaluable machine that produced airplane cable used to operate controls at allied airplanes. He joined the Army and fought overseas during the Second World War in England, Belgium and Holland. After the war ended he served a year in Germany in the army of occupation. In his youth he was very active in sports and was also a fine musician receiving his musical training in Toronto and Hamilton. He sang in light opera in Vancouver and before and after the war was tenor soloist in various churches in Vancouver, Toronto, and Hamilton. He was a member of Central United Church, Port Colborne. QUINLAN, Mary B. - Peacefully at Charlotte Villa on May 3rd, 2008. Beloved wife of 62 years of the late Dr. J.J. Quinlan. Mary was born in Peterborough and was 1 of 9 children. She graduated as a nurse during World War II. She and John moved to Brantford in 1949. She was first a wife and mother and became the perfect Nana, spoiling each of her 19 grandchildren. Mary was an enthusiastic and dedicated volunteer with many organizations over many years. She avidly followed the St. John's Eagles football teams in the 60's and early 70's, attending every game. HOVEY, RETA (HAWKES) The passing of Reta (Hawkes) Hovey, wife of the late Dell McAloon, of Fredericton, occurred on May 3, 2008 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on September 12, 1923 in Tay Creek, NB, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Bertha (Armstrong) Hawkes. Reta loved her family and had great devotion to Saint Anne, making annual pilgrimages to her shrine at Saint-Anne de Beaupre in Quebec. Reta is survived by her children, Edward (Pauline) McAloon of New Brunswick, Anne (Chris) Baetsen of Winnipeg, MB, Kathleen (Eugene) Kervin, Patrick McAloon, both of New Brunswick, Marie (Barry) St. Cyr of St. Albert, AB, Susan (Hardy) Amos, Michael (Janet) McAloon, Joan (Eugene) Guerette, Frederick McAloon, Christopher McAloon, Gerard "Jerry" McAloon all of New Brunswick and David "Joe" (Sharon) Constantine of BC; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. SMART, Margaret Jane Smart (Peggy) 2008-05-05 December 3, 1930 – May 3, 2008 “Search me O God and know my heart; test me and know my thoughts. Point out anything in me that offends you and lead me along the path of everlasting life.” Psalm 139: 23, 24 On Saturday, May 3rd, Jesus called Peggy home to his loving arms after her struggle with a brief illness. Peggy, a lifetime resident of Kakabeka Falls, has lived and worked in both O‘Connor and Conmee Townships for most of her life. She was a successful business owner who led a full and busy life and who achieved many wonderful accomplishments. These included a mail run, a drive-in restaurant, a motel, Spruce Grove Mobile Home Park, Triple “S” Transportation and numerous properties. She also served as counselor for many years on Conmee council and treasurer of her church, O‘Connor/Conmee Fellowship Baptist Church. She had a great love and appreciation of all God‘s creatures and nature which she passed on to her family through years of sharing stories, long drives in the countryside and reflecting on how God‘s hand is in all. She loved scenery and enjoyed sitting by her window looking out over her property enjoying quiet moments with God. She was an extremely generous, patient, loving mother, grandmother, sibling and friend, who enjoyed family gatherings, local politics and debating. She will be greatly missed by her family who will always remember her independent spirit and laughter. She was predeceased by her husband Robert, parents and four brothers. She is survived by her two sons Tom and John (Yvonne), her four grandchildren Tammy (Neil), Pamela (Dennis), Jamie (Kerri), Clyde (Rachelle) and her great grandchildren - her “little lambs”, Zachary, Devin, Darcie, Nicolas, Kassandra and Kaitlyn. Also survived by her sisters Kay and Bett and brother Jim, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. As per Peggy‘s wishes, a private family service will be held. HOGAN, Elaine Ruth 2008-05-05 July 2, 1953 - May 2, 2008 Elaine Hogan passed away peacefully in the early morning of Friday, May 2nd, 2008 at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre. Elaine was in her fifty-fourth year of her life and lived and worked in Thunder Bay where she raised her family and made her home. Elaine‘s family was the most important part of her life and her huge heart and capacity to give defined her personality. Elaine always kept a connection to her past and her community of Lac Des Mille Lacs through friends and family. As a Councillor, Elaine‘s long and outstanding commitment and service to the people of Lac des Mille Lacs was evident in her strong and dedicated determination to help make the First Nation the respectable business entity that it is today. With a long history of instability, this was the first opportunity that band members have had a "band office" to contact and have their concerns heard. It was Elaine‘s vision to see this grow and mature and eventually have her community members return to their homeland. Elaine will be deeply missed by husband James Hogan; children Jody Lynn (Mike), Todd Tyler, and Michael Robert (Michelle); granddaughters Kazlyn, Kyla and Karlee; grandson Tyler James; great-grandson Dylan James, who is her pride and joy; and her brothers Garry Kishiqueb (Kathy), Clarence McKenzie (Catherine), Ken McKenzie, Leo Therrien (Mary-Ann) and Louis Therrien. She was a wonderful aunt and great-aunt to nieces Pamela, Kristy-Anne, Kathleen, Michelle and great-niece Cadence; nephews Ryan, Robert and great-nephew Alexander. Numerous other aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews also survive. She is predeceased by her parents Kathleen McKenzie (nee Shebobman) and Kenneth McKenzie. The Funeral Service will take place on Thursday, May 8th, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Harbourview Funeral Centre, 499 N. Cumberland Street, presided by Rev. Msgr. P. M. Stilla, V.G. of St. Patrick‘s Cathedral with the Traditional Service presided by Elder Gilbert Smith. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the time of service.
