JONES, Norm July 5, 1925 - April 9, 2008 Norm Jones, beloved husband of Mel Jones of Calgary, passed away on Wednesday, April 9, 2008 at the age of 82 years. Norm loved life on the road, driving his sports cars and motorcycles. Besides his loving wife Mel, Norm is survived by his children and their spouses, Rex and Erin Jones, Garth and Deanna Jones, and Ava Hughes; and seven grandchildren, Jillian, Brendon, Bree, Cade, McKenna, Daniel, and Christopher. McTAVISH, (BELL) Marjorie Anne Bailey (nee Robb) May 8, 1920 - April 6, 2008 Marjorie, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, teacher and friend left us peacefully. She is survived by her loving husband Clarence McTavish, four daughters - Maureen Bell Lane, Heather Bell (Gene Zynik), Lori Cockshutt (Franklin), Barbara Jones (John) and grandchildren - Summer Lane, Kathryn Lane (Andrew Mayer), Stephanie Zynik, Tessalyn Zynik (Nicolas Fisher), Bailey Cockshutt, April Cockshutt, Jessica Jones, Britney Jones, Steven Jones, and her many friends at the Bethany Care Centre, Cochrane. She was predeceased by Lyndon Bell and her sister Gertrude Robb, England. Orphaned at a young age Marjorie survived challenging milestones throughout her life including serving as a WAC during WWII, raising four daughters on her own and teaching in Camrose, Calgary and Red Deer among others. She shouldered all of life's challenges with an amazing resilience. Marjorie (Granny Bear Marnie) departed loved by those who will miss her gentleness which she shared with her family, her friends and her baby dolls. PETERS, Mr. Roy Norman - Roy Peters, previously of Fonthill, passed away peacefully in Napanee, Ontario on his 87th birthday. Born in Mennon, Saskatchewan on April 10, 1921 Roy moved to the Niagara Area as a young man where he met, fell in love with and married Pat his wife of 65 years. Roy was a Veteran of WWII; a member of the Welland, Fonthill and Napanee Legions since 1946 and a retiree of Stokes Rubber Company (currently GDX) in Welland. He will be fondly missed by his loving wife Pat (nee Page) and his children Linda Babcock (Jon), Napanee; Patty Faragalli (Jim), Fonthill; Karen Townley (Doug) England; and Larry (Julie), Chicago. He will be lovingly remembered by his 13 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Each grandchild knowing that they were his favourite. SUBOSKI, Milton - Retired Professor of Queen's University, Psychology Dept. Milt was born in Newberry, Michigan on October 8, 1935. He passed away peacefully at home after a lengthy illness on Saturday, April 5, 2008. He received his PhD from Indiana Unversity. He came to Canada in 1965 and spent his career in the Dept. of Psychology at Queen's University. Dear husband of Winnie MacInnis. Father of Viki Korhonen (John) of Port Hardy, BC., William Suboski of Ohio, Lisa Haley (John) of Ottawa, Daniel Suboski of Vancouver, BC, presently of Kandahar, Afghanistan. Grandfather of Keisha, Tannis, Robyn, Jodie and Rory Korhonen, and Alex and Joshua Haley. He is survived by brothers Larry (Lansing, Michigan), Tom (Faustoria, Michigan), Pat (Rapid City, Michigan) and sister Viki Pedroncelli (Albuquerque, NM.) and was predeceased by his brother Bill (West Unity, Ohio). COOPER, Clifford George - Passed away on Sunday, April 6, 2008, in Peterborough. Beloved son of the late Clifford Charles Cooper and Evelyn Muriel Cooper. He is survived by his uncle, Thomas Alec Seaton and cousins Warren Seaton and Maureen Vander Marel. He was a long time resident of the Willowdale area of Toronto. After graduating from Ryerson Polytechnic Institute and George Brown College, Cliff was an employee of Proctor & Gamble. Thereafter, he was Executive Chef at The Old Mill Inn and later at The Boulevard Club. Cliff had a great interest in antique automobiles. He attended the Lincoln Club and enjoyed participating in many car cruises. Cliff wrote numerous articles for Old Autos and other automobile publications. SIMPSON, Irene M. (nee Grey) - In loving memory of Irene M. She was born in Hull, Quebec and married William Alan Simpson in 1940. A devout member of the Church of the Epiphany, Irene was a very positive person who could always see the good in any situation. She had been a member of the Ottawa Valley Club. She enjoyed bowling, euchre, bingo, going to the casino, and especially shopping. She was happiest at the Christmas Season purchasing special gifts for special people in her life throughout the year. TRUE, C. DOUGLAS Passed away suddenly at his home in Pembroke on Friday, March 21, 2008 in his 91st year. Doug, formerly of Woodstock, New Brunswick was pre-deceased by his parents, George Bennet True and Susan Pearl True, his dear sister, Julia Broad, and his beloved wife Margaret True (nee Chisholm). Doug obtained a Bachelors of Forestry Degree from the University of New Brunswick and then enjoyed a career in the forest industry. This particular background, together with his extensive travels, no doubt fostered Doug's life-long interest and concern for our environment. In later years, Doug was a member of the Renfrew County Real Estate Board and also served on the Board of Directors of the Pembroke Housing Authority. Doug will also be remembered by all those who knew him for his great love of music, history, language, travel, his own family history and, of course, federal and provincial politics. Doug also enjoyed his many years of membership as a member of the choir of the First Presbyterian Church in Pembroke. Doug is fondly remembered by his nephews, nieces and the numerous members of his extended family, living in New Brunswick, Ontario, Saskatchewan, Alberta, England, Scotland, Australia and the United States. A Memorial Service will be held for Doug at the First Presbyterian Church, 257 Pembroke St. W., Pembroke, Ontario on Saturday, April 26th at 11 a.m. (In lieu of flowers, donations to the Pembroke Symphony Orchestra or to charitable organizations promoting the preservation of the environment would be appreciated). Audrey was a longtime member of Paris Baptist Church. BROWN, David Graham - was born in Sudbury, Ontario on June 3, 1942, the son of Gordon and Viola (née Hakkarainen). His siblings were Robert, Sheila and Peter Brown. David was a raucous and rowdy youth, and throughout his life noted for his off-beat sense of humour, painfully bad puns and disregard for authority. David was a natural entrepreneur who began his first business selling audio components to school boards. On April 24, 1971, he married Gerarda Schouten, a marriage that was to produce what David considered to be the four greatest blessings in his life, namely his children Andrew, Douglas, Elizabeth and Margaret. In the 1970's, David ran the successful David's Stereo audio store in Sudbury. In 1979, David set up the Renaissance loudspeaker manufacturing firm, a venture that produced some of Canada's finest speakers. In 1989, David's marriage ended, which was followed by a number of troubled years afterwards. In 1997 he moved to Kitchener. David worked at Home Depot, mostly in tool rental. A man of wide interests and great intelligence, David's many loves included sailing, travel, music, industrial archeology, cinema, history, machine tools, and above all his children. On April 5, 2008, David was tragically taken away from us by a sudden heart attack. Though life was often hard on David, he never lost his sense of humour, his cheeky irreverence and indomitable strength. David is survived by his four children, and Margaret's husband Joseph Sambol. We truly miss you, Father.
