MUEHLMANN, Dorthea August 15, 1926-March 28, 2008 Peacefully in her sleep at Fairfield Manor, Kanata. Beloved wife of the late Werner for 56 years. Christopher Kent is the son of their heart. Sister to Regina Maria and Heinrich Gustav Jorzik. Aunt to Annegret (Cameron), and their daughter Andrienne, Susanne (Manfred), Rudy (Tracey), and predeceased by Rita. Dorthea was a woman of many talents. She loved to sew, seamstress by trade, and was a wonderful homemaker: baking and cooking. Dorthea had a passion for travel with her husband, travelling many times to reconnect with loved ones in Germany. She spent 13 years supervising a Jiffy Pot plant factory in Chicago, IL. She was a beautiful woman with class and a flair for style and fashion, and had a great sense of humour. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Thursday, April 3, at Pinecrest Visitation Centre, (2500 Baseline Rd, Ottawa) from 2 to 4 p.m. In memory of Dorthea, donations to The Diabetes Association would be appreciated. RALA, Violeta Tragically, Saturday, March 29, 2008, Violeta Rala passed away from her commendable fight to cancer. She was the mother of Emee (Ricardo Nuesi) and Ritchelle and wife of Santiago Orlando. Sister of Lucena (Rudolpho), Elsa Valdez, Gina (Simplicio), Domingo and Ermo. She was cherished by her nieces and nephews and her company was always welcomed by her many friends. It is with a heavy heart to say goodbye to a mother, sister and aunt whose courageous and strong spirit surpasses her. Diagnosed with Lymphoma in August 2007, Violeta was optimistic the she would survive it. Her hope was what kept her fighting and her lust for life pushed her through. Sadly, the disease took the best of her and she lost the fight. Through tears we mourn but with laughter we will remember; for fragile was her body but strong fought her heart. Loving grandmother of Bonnie MacDougall, Tracy Grant, Scott MacDougall and Janice Scribner. Also survived by four great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. Dear sister of Mildred Jackson of Trenton, Katherine Foslett of Sarnia and Jack Davison of Florida. A lifelong Sarnia resident, Mrs. Lasenby was pre-deceased by a son James, a daughter Karen, two sisters Annie and Isobel and a brother Thomas. COURCHENE, Paul Jean (Baldy)- Passed away peacefully with his family by his side at Trillium Villa on Friday, March 28, 2008 at the age of 89. Beloved husband Charlotte (Vautour) and the late Simone. Dear father of the late Lorraine Mussio and Frances (Trixie) Collier. Father-in-law of Peter Mussio, Camlachie and Fran's partner Randy Baxter, Sarnia. Very special grandfather to Paul (Cathy) Mussio, Grand Bend, John (Annette) Mussio, Alan (Jayne) Collier, Michelle (Lee) Pawley and Nicole (Rob) Sokol all of Sarnia. Great-grandfather of Emily and Daniel Mussio and Corey and Spencer Pawley. Brother of Fern (Muriel) Courchesne, Sudbury, Reina (Joe) Lilko, Milton, Andre (Jacqueline) Courchesne, Sarnia and Cecile (George) Langlois, Orleans. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Arthur & Clara (Morissette) Courchesne, brothers Herve and Robert Courchesne and sister-in-law Norene. Paul managed Murphy Tobacco in Sarnia for over 30 years. Because of his love for fishing and the outdoors he spent his retirement years in Tobermory on Dorcas Bay Rd. He was a veteran of W.W. II, stationed at the Alaskan border. Paul was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Royal Canadian Naval Association, the Point Edward Ex- Servicemen's Association and the 1st Hussars W.O. & Sergeant's Mess. At Paul's request there will be no funeral home visitation. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Fr. GESSIE, Paul Otto 2008-03-31 With much sadness the family announces the passing of Paul Otto Gessie, age 78 years, on March 30th, 2008 after a long battle with cancer at St. Joseph‘s Hospice. Born in Beausejour, Manitoba, Paul worked for the Ministry of Lands and Forest in Ignace, ON in his younger years and then for C.P. Rail as a car inspector until his retirement in 1994. Paul enjoyed camping and fishing at our family cottage in Ignace. Paul was well known for his booming voice. He studied Opera at the Conservatory of Music in Toronto. He would belt out a song at all his favorite places, shopping at Quality Market or coffee time at Tim Horton‘s with his friends. Paul loved to go for a run first thing in the morning and a long walk in the evening. He will be sadly missed by his wife Patti, his best friend, his three sons (the 3 D‘s) Dwight, David, and Dean (Julie), four grandchildren Rachel, Seanpaul, Katya, Sacha and other relatives. How my love circles over you always Cremation has taken place in care of Northwest Funeral Alternative Inc. A celebration of Paul‘s life will take place with family and friends at a later date. CHEDORE, Marcel 2008-03-31 1944-2008 Marcel Philip Chedore, age 64 years, resident of Thunder Bay, passed away peacefully in his residence on Friday, March 28, 2008. Marcel was born in La Tuque, Quebec in 1944. As a young boy he moved to Thunder Bay with his family. Marcel attended Confederation College for social work. Marcel was employed by the City of Thunder Bay as a social worker where he remained until his retirement. Marcel‘s passions were music and NASCAR. He loved his home and family, especially his grandchildren. Marcel is survived by daughter Brenda (Alan) Denman of Duluth (presently here), grandchildren Jolynne, Alison and Conner Denman. Nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive. Predeceased by his wife Joanne, his parents Eskil and Marcelle Chedore, and brothers Nelson, Alvin, Roger, and a brother who died at infancy. Funeral Services for the late Mr. Marcel Chedore will be held on Wednesday, April 2, 2008 with family and friends assembling at Corpus Christi Roman Catholic Church for the Funeral Mass at 1:00 PM celebrated by Father Richard Kowalchuk. Interment to follow beside his beloved wife Joanne in St. Andrew‘s Cemetery. Visitation for family & friends will be held on Tuesday evening after 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM in the EVEREST FUNERAL CHAPEL, 299 Waverley Street at Algoma with Vigil Prayers offered in the EVEREST CHAPEL at 7:00 PM. DROZD, Frantiska - With her family by her side, Frantiska Drozd passed peacefully, at the London Health Sciences Centre, University Hospital, on March 29, 2008 at the age of 76. Frantiska (Frances) was born in Brno - Obrany, Czechoslovakia to her parents, Frantiska and Ferdinand Trnecka on May 24, 1931. Refusing to live life under the communist regime, Frantiska and her family made a daring escape to freedom in 1968 and chose to begin a new life in Sarnia, Ontario. This was later followed by a happy retirement with her husband John in London. Frantiska was well liked by co-workers and friends. She had a successful career, working as a supervisor in the payroll department of a military hospital in Brno, Czechoslovakia. She later became a secretary at the International Expedition Place. In Canada, Frantiska became a successful piping and electrical designer working in the petrochemical industry, first in Sarnia and later at Syncrude in Ft. McMurray, Alberta. In 1986, Frantiska became a heart transplant recipient at the University Hospital. She and her family relocated to London, where Frantiska worked for the next 22 years as an accountant for the law firm of her daughter, Zora Drozd, in Sarnia, Ontario. Frantiska enjoyed many great travels and adventures in her life, both before and after her heart transplant. She was a model of compassion and kindness. Frantiska took on everything life sent her way with strength and dignity, which is something everyone learned from her. Frantiska was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was happily married to her husband, John, and enjoyed a very close and loving relationship with her children, Zora, John, and Sandra, and later with her son-in-law, Rick De Jong, and her grandson, Cole. Frantiska also enjoyed a loving relationship with her sister, Kveta Kobylkova, and her niece, Simona Pechova, both of whom reside in Prague, Czech Republic. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 1, 2008 at 10:00 am, at the Holy Family Parish, 777 Valetta Street, London. Following the celebration of her life, Frantiska will be cremated and interred at the Oakland Cemetery, 390 Oxford Street West, London.
