Beloved mother of James, Oshawa, Ont; Grace Wood (Bill), Fredericton, N.B.; George (Elizabeth), Charlottetown; and Sheila Marshall, Welland, Ont. Lovingly remembered by her grandchildren James Jr., Debbie, Moira, Katherine, Jacob and Jennifer; by her great-grandchildren Brandyn, Joshua and Jonas and by her nieces and nephews. Sister of Florence MacRae (Lincoln), Charlottetown. Sister-in-law of Mary Matheson (Eric), Toronto, Ont.; Bob Craig, Stratford, P.E. I.; Will Craig of Stratford, P.E.I.; and William Graham, of St. Marys, Ont. TOBIN, James (Jim) March 15, 1947-March 26, 2008 - It is with a heavy heart and great sadness we announce the sudden passing of Jim Tobin on Wednesday, March 26, 2008, at the age of 61 years. Jim was born in Morell, P.E.I., and has lived in Calgary since 1973 where he owned and operated a plumbing and gas fitting business. He was a kind hearted, loving and caring individual with a great love for life. Jim always put the well-being of others before himself. His heart also went out to any stray, lost or injured animal. Jim loved his seafood, going home to P.E.I. for visits, travel, golf and just to sit and enjoy the good company of his family, friends and associates. He touched the hearts of many. Besides his loving spouse Irene Till, Jim is survived by his sisters, Edna (Wayne) MacKinnon of Mississauga, Ont. and Evelyn (Don) Lees of Thunder Bay, Ont., and their families. He will also be missed by numerous in-laws, nieces and nephews. Jim was predeceased by his parents, Bernard and Margaret Tobin. Funeral services will be held at McInnis & Holloway’s Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North), on Tuesday, April 1, 2008, at 2:30 p.m. Graveside service to follow at Queen's Park Cemetery. ORZECHOWSKA, Wanda (nee Bykowska) 1916-2008 Died peacefully at the Peter D. Clark Centre on March 30, 2008. Predeceased by her husbands Czeslaw Giedrojc (1941) and Frank Orzechowski (1977). Doting and devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother of the Hauck, Ozimkowski and DeMorest families. Wonderful teacher, administrator, chef and volunteer (St. Vincent Hospital). An amazing woman who was strong and positive despite a very difficult life. O'REILLY, DONALD MICHAEL "MIKE" - The death of Donald "Mike" O'Reilly of (Milford) Saint John, NB, husband of the late Elizabeth "Betty" (Glenn) O'Reilly, occurred on March 30, 2008 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Verdun, PQ the son of the late Michael and Gladys (McGaghey) O'Reilly. Mike was a member of the Armed Forces for 27 years until his retiring September 1977. He was a Korean Veteran serving with PACLI from 1951-1952. Mike was a member of the RCL Branch # 69. Survived by his daughter, Donna O'Reilly of Saint John, NB; two sisters Marcelina Clark, and Norma Cook both of Saint John, NB; four grandchildren, Jason (Pam) and Melissa (James) both of Saint John, Stacey of Calgary, AB; and Michael of Winnipeg, MB; seven great-grandchildren; several cousins, nieces, and nephews; special friend Carol (Myles) Snow; and also Betty's family. Predeceased by his son, David; one great-grandchild Anthony; his brother, Merlin; and one sister, Debbie. DUKE, ARTHUR EDWARD - Arthur Edward Duke, husband of Edith (Hunter) Duke, of Mispec went home to be with the Lord on Monday, March 31, 2008 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born 1933 in Saint John he was the son of the late William and Minnie (Currie) Duke. Art was a very active member of Fundamental Baptist Church, serving on several committees. In his younger years he was a member of the Reserve Army Signal Corp. Art worked for Irving Paper for 20 years, retiring in 1991. He enjoyed motorcycles and spending time with his family. Besides his wife Edie of 47 years, he is survived by sons, Steven Duke and Scott Duke (Shelley Belyea) both of Mispec; sisters, Fern Fudge of Saint John, Fay Duke and Naomi Duke both of Kitchener, Ontario; several nieces and nephews and many friends. Besides his parents he was predeceased by brothers, Bill and Cal; and sisters, Dorothy, Alma and Jessie. Nancy Lee Bourgeois 1943 - 2008 Nancy L. Bourgeois of Moncton passed away at The Moncton Hospital on Sunday, March 30, 2008 at the age of 64 years. Born in Sunny Brae, NB on June 15, 1943 she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Treva (Arthur) Duke. Nancy was an employee of The Chris Rock Tavern with over 35 years service. She loved to prepare home cooked meals for family and friends. Also enjoying warm days at the beach and listening to country music. She is survived by her daughters, Kelly (Pierre) Michaud and Roxanne Bourgeois (JP Boudreau) both of Shediac, Karen (Jim) McNulty, Bobbi-Jo Jones, Billi-Jo (Martin) Gagnon all of Moncton; grandchildren Tiffaney, Stephanie, Candace, Nicholas, Meagan, Tylor, Samantha, Ashley and Chantal; two great grandchildren Kiarra and Mikalah; sister, Shirley Garland of Cobourgh ON; sisters-inlaw Lillian Duke of Kamloops BC, and Marla Duke of Riverview; also by several nieces and nephews. She enjoyed playing bingo and was an avid New England Patriots and Boston Red Sox Fan. She loved spending time with her grandchildren. PETRY, Rhea Irene - Peacefully at the Cornwall Community Hospital, McConnell Site on Monday, March 31, 2008. The former Rhea Lefebvre age 87 years. Theresa Doreen, O'Hara-Duplessis, (1953 - 2008) It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Theresa Doreen (Freezie) O'Hara-Duplessis, wife of Theodore (Ted) Duplessis. Her death occurred at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital in Fredericton on March 29, 2008 at the age of 54, after a ten year battle with cancer. Born in Middleton, NS on September 9, 1953, she was the daughter of the late John (Jack) and Irene O'Hara. After graduating from high school, Theresa worked, for a short time, at Zellers in Chatham, NB. She then attended Fanshaw College in London, ON. Following a short stint at Fanshaw, she worked as a counselor in Chatham. Theresa then attended University and obtained a teaching degree. She taught for a short time in Fredericton. At the time of her death, she was working at the UNB Book Store. Theresa is survived by her two children: Amber Gill (Jordan Grossman) of Windsor, ON and Tyler Gill of Calgary, AB; two step-daughters: Jody Lanteigne of Fredericton, NB and Jennifer Corbett (Rob) of Fredericton, NB ; three brothers: Michael (Jackie) O'Hara of Ajax, ON, Paul O'Hara of Miramichi, NB and Shaun O'Hara of Thornhill, ON; four sisters: Maureen (Ed) Vigneau of Halifax, NS, Sharon (Don) MacDonald of Fredericton, NB, Barbara (David) Parker of Riverview, NB and Marilyn (Michael) McCoombs of Miramichi, NB; a brother-in-law, Roy Campbell of London, ON; six special grandchildren: Holly, Hanna and Hailey Lanteigne; Garrett, Brady and Katelyn Corbett; 23 nieces and nephews, 23 grandnieces and grandnephews; several aunts, uncles and cousins. WILSON, Margaret Lois (Doyle) Our Mum, Gran, Auntie and friend, joined her daughter Corinne in heaven on March 29, 2008. Margaret was the first daughter of seven children born to Alice E. Matheson and William P. Doyle in Dodsland, SK, January 8, 1920. She grew up in Hoosier, SK and began her life away from the family farm in 1937 in Vancouver. In 1939 she moved to Calgary, met Mervin Wilson and married in 1943. Together they raised six children: Marilyn (Paul Dyck), Lenore (Peter Pfiffig), Corinne (Don Morris), Gerald, Sharlane Cressman (Clive Donaldson), and Laverne Cressman (Ruth Andres). They have welcomed and enjoyed thirteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. In sixty-four years together she and Mervin were active community members, and travelled over 250,000 Km by motorhome, collecting family, friends and genealogy information which produced two books. Her legacy to us includes a strong faith, love of books, music, the value of hard work, enjoyment and care of family and home, the joy and purpose of simple living, and a door always open. A Service to celebrate her life will be held in Rosebud, the community she loved, on Thursday, April 3 at 12:00 p.m. in the Evangelical Covenant Church (west side). STRZESZEWSKI, Michael 2008-04-01 Mr. Michael Strzeszewski age 79 years, a resident of St. Joseph’s Care Group-Hospital passed away at his residence on Monday, March 31, 2008. Mike was born in Warsaw, Poland on June 19, 1928. He came to Canada in 1949, working in P.E.I. for DOMTAR. He was a member of the Polish Legion #219. He is survived by his friend Henry Derynck and many other friends who assisted Mike over the last 30 years. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held in the chapel of St. Joseph’s Hospital at a later date. Interment will be held in St. Andrew’s Cemetery. STACKHOUSE - Gary Sterling Stackhouse of Saint John, husband of Nadine (Banks) Stackhouse, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, March 31, 2008 after a brave six month battle with cancer. Born at Saint John, he was a son of Ruth (Henderson) Stackhouse and the late Les Stackhouse, who predeceased him in May of 2007. Gary was a graduate of Saint John Vocational School, and worked at T. S. Simms for more than forty years before his retirement. Gary enjoyed hunting, fishing, and four-wheeling, and spent many happy days at his camp in Musquash. In addition to his wife and to his mother, Gary is survived by his sons, Glen and Greg (Joanne), all of Saint John; his brother, Laurie, also of Saint John; grandchildren Brittany, Connor, Jonathan, and Julianne; and by several nieces and nephews. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, with visiting on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. RUMBLE, Edith Mae - It is with heavy hearts the Rumble family announces the passing of their matriarch and Queen, Edith Mae on Sunday March 30, 2008. Edith Mae Rumble (Higgs) was born to Levi and Myrtle Higgs (Campbell) on June 2, 1920. She married her husband Leighton Frederick Rumble (1983) on October 3, 1941. The most important thing in life to Edith and Leighton was their family. She was the proud mother of 5 sons, and grandmother to 11 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Her boys, her pride and joy, Ted and Brenda Rumble, Erie Beach, her special son Timmy (1997), Tony and Gail Rumble, Raglan, Michael and Nancy Rumble, Blenheim, and David and Carolyn Rumble, Blenheim. Grandmother to Becky, John, Sarah and Catherine Preston, Beth, Rick, Evan, Colleen and Lydia Hall, Jenny Rumble, Amy and Costa Zoumboulis, Ian, Rhonda, Klare and Drew Rumble, Emily Rumble, Erin, Scott, Blain, Brook and Bria Bacik, Brent Rumble, Jackie, Kerry and Jessica Rumble. Survived by her sister and partner in crime Hilda Dundar, Whitby and sister in law Sara Higgs, Kingston, brother in law Glen and Marilyn Rumble, Rodney. Edith and Leighton enjoyed 29 years in the city of Guelph where she worked at Biltmore Hats keeping her boys in style. They were devoted members of Paisley United Church in Guelph and the Fourth Line Community Church. Lady Edith was an avid seamstress, Rumble Racing sponsor and fan, and life of the party. Her smile and infectious laugh, high heels, red lipstick and kisses on the lips were part of her trade mark style. HOPE, Allan 2008-04-01 It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Allan Alexander Hope. Born in Brandon, Manitoba on September 30th, 1929, Allan returned peacefully to God on March 31st, 2008. Allan married his love Maretta on April 2nd, 1955 and they moved to Fort William. He worked for United Auto and then Acklands for many years. Just before retiring in 1993 he worked for Best Buy Auto Parts. He was active on the Board for CAA for 20 years and was an avid Rotarian since May of 1972. Allan was a Paul Harris Fellow, and had perfect attendance for 29 years. Allan was a family man, a loving husband and devoted father. He was the man that all went to in a time of need or support. He enjoyed being busy and always put the needs of others before himself. Some of the best times of Allan‘s life were spent with family, outdoors at their camp on Shebandowan Lake. Allan is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 53 years, Maretta, his three children Cathy (Carl) Syrja, Wendy (Tom) Kehoe and Robert (Linda) Hope. Also surviving are his grandchildren Heather, Mikael and Andrew Saarela, Shanna Tavares, Ian and Thomas Kehoe, Christopher, Allan and Brittany Hope. Allan was predeceased by his parents William and Beda Hope and his granddaughter Ariel Hope. As a Rotarian, and in his life, Allan lived by the four-way test: 1) Is it the truth? 2) Is it fair to all concerned? 3) Will it build goodwill and better friendships? 4) Will it be beneficial to all concerned? A celebration of life will be held at First Presbyterian Church (corner of Grey and Walsh) on Saturday, April 5th, 2008 beginning at 2:00pm, officiated by Rev. Mark McLennan. UHRIG, William Henry - With grace and dignity, after a long and fruitful life, the family of William Henry Uhrig announce his sudden passing on Sunday, March 30, 2008, in his 90th year, at the Saugeen Memorial Hospital in Southampton, Ontario. Loving and devoted husband of the late Mabel Lange Uhrig. Much loved father of Sandra Reinhardus and her husband Carel of Southampton, Bob and his wife Carol Ann of Grand Bend, Bill Jr. and his wife Dana of Milton and Judy Merritt and her husband Colin of Waterloo. Outstanding grandfather to Keri Leggett Davies and her husband Brad of Dorchester, Jodi Merritt Barendregt and husband Chris of Ingersoll, David and girlfriend Julie of Guilford, Connecticut and Jessica Uhrig of Kitchener. The best great grandfather ever to Kai and Annie Davies. Survived by brother, Norman of St. Catharines, by sisters, Merle, Mrs. Stan Harrod of Brantford and Marguerite, Mrs. Leslie Smith of Hamilton, as well as brother-in-law Ernie Lange of Sault Ste. Marie and sister-in-law Marjorie Lange of Scarborough and by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his father John Henry, his mother Lulu Mae, brother Jack and sisters Vida, Mrs. Clarence Ware, Lorraine, Mrs. Wilfred Reinhart, Beatrice, Mrs. Russell Gibbons, and Madeleine, Mrs. Ted Williams. He is now reunited with his loving wife Mabel and his grandson Andy Uhrig. He will also be sadly missed by his morning coffee clutch. Born and raised in Southampton, (Little Stratford), with the exception of his service during World War II, Bill spent his entire life in the town of his birth. He spent 47 years in the furniture trade, working at Fitton Parker Furniture, and retiring in 1983. After retirement, Bill continued his artistic talents by building and selling handcrafted pieces of furniture in his own woodworking shop, while mentoring others interested in the trade. In later years, Bill became an avid collector of bygone era memorabilia. Bill was a private man, who loved a good joke, and who was intensely proud of his family, and mesmerized by his great grandchildren. Bill was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 155, in Southampton, for 62 years. LABARGE, Henry (Hank), Leonard 1922 - 2008 Born in Tweed, Ontario, son of the late Annie Mae (Kehoe) and Prosper LaBerge. Henry passed away peacefully in Ottawa, with family by his side on Sunday, March 30, 2008 in his 87th year. Beloved husband of Gertrude (Egan) for 52 years. Hank was a leading lineman for the Welland Hydro for 37 years. We will forever remember Hank's easy smile, his humourous storytelling and those Irish blue eyes.
