Dorion, Pierre Parution: 2008-03-29 au 2008-03-29 dans Le Droit- 1362879 La famille Dorion a le regret de vous annoncer le décès de PIERRE DORION 1930 - 2008 « Un grand amour m'attend… » décédé le mardi 25 mars 2008, au CHSLD Vigi de l'Outaouais à Gatineau après une longue bataille contre le Parkinson. Il fut précédé de son père Émile Dorion, sa mère Alice Bordeleau et ses frères Paul-Marie et Jacques. Il laisse dans le deuil de son amour, son épouse bien-aimée Ghislaine Beauchemin, infirmière, son fils André (Natalie Cléroux), avocat et sa fille Marie-Hélène (Daniel Charlebois), infirmière. Ses petits-fils Samuel fils de Marie-Hélène et Félix fils d'André conserveront un souvenir ému de leur grand-papa chantant. Il sera regretté par ses soeurs Cécile, Louise, Suzanne (Sam) et Françoise, ainsi que ses frères Jean (Hiromi) et André (Julie). De nombreux ami(e)s et anciens collègues ont continué de le porter, dans leurs prières et par leurs visites attentionnées, jusqu'à la toute fin. Né durant la Grande Crise à Montréal en milieu ouvrier modeste, au sein d'une famille qui comptera neuf enfants, le 5 janvier 1930, Pierre bénéficie néanmoins d'une éducation classique qui le mènera successivement dans l'aviation canadienne, dont un long service en Europe, et la fonction publique fédérale au tournant des années soixante. D'abord assigné à la traduction des débats parlementaires, il fera ensuite carrière en traduction maritime au Bureau des traductions, auprès de Transports Canada. Tour à tour traducteur, réviseur et mentor, il devra prendre sa retraite prématurément alors que la maladie qui avait auparavant affecté son père Émile l'atteint à son tour. Lecteur avide et fontaine de connaissances, il aura également bénéficié d'une formation en chant classique comme baryton-basse. Accompagné de son épouse musicienne Ghislaine, il chantera dans de nombreuses chorales dont le Théâtre Lyrique de Hull, ainsi que pour trois paroisses dans Gatineau. Il se distinguera également par son bénévolat attentif auprès des éclaireurs, ainsi que comme marguillier dans la paroisse St-Richard. Résident dès les débuts du CHSLD Vigi en 1999, la présence chantante de ce gentilhomme à la messe et lors des fêtes sera regrettée. Sa famille remercie sincèrement le personnel soignant et professionnel (spécialement son neurologue le Dr Hallé), ainsi que les bénévoles dévoués, pour leurs excellents soins dans des conditions parfois précaires au cours des neuf dernières années. Il y aura une exposition le dimanche 30 mars de 14h à 17h et de 19h à 22h à LA COOPÉRATIVE FUNÉRAIRE DE L'OUTAOUAIS située au 1369, boul. La Vérendrye O. à Gatineau. La messe chantée aura lieu le lundi 31 mars à 11h à la paroisse St-Richard, 445, boulevard St-René Ouest à Gatineau. Born in New Glasgow, he was a son of the late Daniel and Josephine (Wilcox) Crowther. Wilson had owned and operated Wilson's Pizza in Westville for several years until retirement due to health problems. Wilson was an usher for the Crushers, always ready to lend a helping hand to others. He was an avid snooker player . He will be sadly missed by his wife, Irene (Myers); daughter, Veronica, and son, Bradley, at home; daughter, Tanya Harnish, and son, David Crowther, Ontario. He is also survived by sisters, Ruth Morrison (Claude), New Brunswick; Lynn Bordenuik (Dave), Ontario; Laura Small (Merrill), New Brunswick; Joyce Fraser (Jeff Murphy), Westville; brothers, Melvin, Ontario; Danny (Theresa), Truro; Leonard (Bernadette), Pictou; Harvey (Sylvia), Stellarton; Gordon (Tina), Ontario; Ricky (Martina), Westville, and Ronnie (Sharon), New Glasgow; father-in-law, Cecil "Denny" Myers, Stellarton. JOHNSTON, Mary Parsons JOHNSTON, Mary Parsons - Halifax, passed away on March 24, 2008. She was the daughter of the late Fred and Annie Parsons. Mary graduated from Mount Saint Vincent University in Science and Voice. For that occasion, she hired the Halifax Symphony Orchestra to assist the Mount musicians. Mary was manager of Halifax Transfer, which was founded by her grandfather in 1896. Mary was a director of Allied Van Lines. Mary traveled extensively in her retirement. Her destinations included Hawaii, Panama Canal, Florida, and the British Isles. She is survived by her nephews, James H.B. Kane, South Portland, Me.; Bernard F. McMullan, Winnipeg, Man., and grandnephew, Paul McMullen, also of Winnipeg. LIEBOLD, Horst Manfred "Opa" LIEBOLD, Horst Manfred "Opa" - 73, Eastern Passage. It is with broken hearts that Horst passed away peacefully in Dartmouth General Hospital on Thursday, March 27, 2008, surrounded by his loving family. Horst was born in Leipzig, Germany, on August 3, 1934. He will be missed dearly by his devoted wife of 49 years, Sophia (Barth); son, Bert (Judi); grandsons, Colin and Chad; sister, Krista Schwind, Leipzig, Germany. Horst was retired from Hermes Electronics Inc. where he worked for 40 years as a tool and die maker. His most prized possession was his cottage and spending time there with his family and many close friends. Horst also loved to read and watch Colin and Chad swim with the Shearwater Bluefins. This brought much joy to his life. The family would like to thank Dr. Stacey and all the staff of the Dartmouth General Hospital E.R. and 4 west unit, especially the palliative care team. Cremation has taken place. Visitation service will be held in Eastern Passage Funeral Home between 2-4 p.m. on Sunday, March 30. A private family burial will take place at a later date. Noreen is also lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Cory (Cathy), Nicole, Dana and Max; great-grandchildren Drew, Cole and Sophie, and her brother, Ronnie “Joker” (Joyce) McKeigan. SHELDRICK, Nancy Jane Honeywell (nee Coleman). Born July 30, 1907, Saint John, NB; passed away peacefully March 17, 2008 at St. Vincent's Langara, Vancouver. Predeceased by husband Col. K. Douglas Sheldrick (1989) in Montreal, Nan will be lovingly remembered by her son Douglas (Toronto), (Janene Morfea Sheldrick), daughter Annabel Mitchell, (Vancouver), (John), grandson Rob (Toronto) son of Nan's late son Robert (1971), and Rob's mother, Heather Sheldrick Bittner (nee Eaman) of Edmonton. A keen member of the debating team, Nan was a B.A. graduate of Mount Allison University, Sackville, NB (1927). Prior to marriage in Montreal (1931), she taught Latin and English at Saint John High School. Resident of Lachine, Que. for fifty years, Nan was an active member of the Lachine High "Home and School Assn." and St. Paul's Anglican Church. She played a major role in the creation of the Saul Bellow Municipal Library, the first public library in Lachine. Nan will be remembered dearly for her sunny disposition, positive attitude and giving nature. A memorial gathering to celebrate Nan's life will take place at a later date back East. Interment to occur at Trinity Anglican Church, Kingston, NB. Special thanks to the staff at St. Vincent's Langara extended care/Aspen for their kindness and dedication. VIENNEAU, LA'VON CLAUDINE - La'Von Claudine Vienneau of Saint John passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, March 27, 2008 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born at Montreal, QC, she was a daughter of the late Ambrose and Alice (Kindred) White. La'Von worked as an Administrative Assistant. She loved walking, especially along Harbour Passage, and enjoyed the company of her "adopted" cats and dogs. La'Von is survived by her sons, Tony Vienneau (Melanie Caissie) of Fredericton and Stephen Vienneau (Michelle Cossaboom) of Rothesay; brothers, Terry White (Claire) of Quebec and Carmen White, also of Quebec; and by nieces and nephews, Victor, Christopher, John, and Monique. POWER, SYLVIA JULIET - (1922 - 2008) - The death of Sylvia J. (Stuart) Power of Saint John, occurred at the St. John and St. Stephen Church Home on Thursday, March 27, 2008 following a period of failing health. The last years of Sylvia's life were spent in the company of the caring staff and residents of the Church Home with her family close by. Sylvia was born at St. Andrew's, New Brunswick, where she continued to summer throughout her lifetime. The last remaining member of her birth family, Sylvia was born the fourth child of five to Emma Isabel and W. Scott Stuart. She was predeceased by brother, James (Bussy), sisters, Marguerite (Siddie), Mary Miller and Alice. After graduating from the Charlotte County Grammar School, Sylvia entered the Saint John General Hospital School of Nursing, graduating as an RN in 1944. She worked at nursing, primarily at the Saint John General Hospital, the Saint John Regional Hospital, and as an informal neighbourhood nurse, until the age of 69. One of the lasting legacies of her training was a circle of classmates with whom she remained close friends over 60 years. Sylvia was a founding member of the St. Pius X Roman Catholic Parish and its CWL. She presided as organist for 40 years. Her love of music was evident in all she did, from conducting family sing-songs to teaching hymns to the students of St. Pius X - Crescent Valley, and St. Francis - Hazen White schools. Sylvia was an original member of the diocesan interparochial choir, and sang alto with the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception choir. A woman of great faith, Sylvia was known for her practical and accepting way of life, never hesitating to let people know that she had need of their talents, often for the benefit of others. Sylvia was predeceased by her husband, Gerald and son, James. Her life is remembered and celebrated by those who survive her including daughters, Judy (Ray) Glennie, Marybel Power and son, Andy (Kathy). 'Gram' was a devoted and much-loved grandmother to Michelle Langley, Michael, Aaron, Jordan and Alison Power; Andrew, Philip and Joseph Glennie; Lisa Power-Vincent (Dan); and great-grandmother to Colby. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), where visitation will be held on Sunday, March 30, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Pius X Church 316 Somerset Street, on Monday, March 31, at 10 am. Interment will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery. LAMBERT, IVA LOUISE - At the Passamaquoddy Lodge, St. Andrews NB on March 28, 2008, after a brief illness, Mrs. Iva Louise (Stuart) Lambert wife of the late Donald Whitney Lambert of Lords Cove, Deer Island NB. Born in Lords Cove on October 25, 1922, she was a daughter of the late Walter Boyd and Mabel Blanche (Hooper) Stuart. A loving mother, aunt and cousin, she is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Karen (Edward) Power of Lords Cove, and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Iva was predeceased by a grandson, Shon Blacquiere; and by two sisters, Lena Gaudett and Muriel Hawkins. Iva was an avid card player, who also enjoyed sewing in her spare time. K. SATHAANANDAN: Known as Shantih, David, or Siva to his family and friends, and Uncle to the younger generation, Sathaanandan died at his home in West Harrow, Middlesex England on March 17th, after a lengthy illness. He leaves to mourn his wife, Barbara Jean (Gibbs), formerly of Saint John and Fredericton; two sisters: Mano Kandiah of St. Paul Minnesota, and Ruby Jayatalan of Toronto; two brothers: K. Uluganathan of Toronto, and Captain K. Chandrapragasan MBE of London U.K., as well as nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by three brothers and one sister. Sathaanandan will be remembered for his kindness, hospitality and lively, if mischievous, intelligence. March 29, 2008

CRIPTON, DR. MICHAEL J. - 1934-2008 - Dr. Michael John Cripton 73, died at ProTem Health Services, Gorge Rd. Moncton on March 27, 2008. Born in Montreal he was the son of the late John and Veronika (Tkachuk) Cripton . Dr. Cripton's first passion was in helping others. This ability first came to the fore when - as a boy of nine - he was placed in the Weredale boy's home of Montreal after his father (a Ukrainian-immigrant labourer) died and his family dissolved. He became a central part of the school and he was placed in a supervisory role at a young age. He often referred to the experiences and struggles that he had with the younger children (and children his own age and older) at Weredale at stages such as bedtime and lights out. His own children benefited from this wisdom at bedtimes! He clearly experienced the first pulls towards his lifelong passions of mentorship, leadership and volunteerism at Weredale. He remained involved at Weredale as a resident and councilor until his graduation from Dental School at McGill in 1957. He went on to practice general dentistry in Fredericton where he met his wife Nancy. After their marriage he returned to Montreal to study Orthodontics and then he moved to Moncton in 1961, becoming the second Orthodontist in the province of NB at that time. He was a passionate volunteer in his chosen profession of dentistry, where he held many professional, administrative and leadership roles in national and international professional organizations and governing bodies. He served as President of the Canadian and New Brunswick Dental Associations, President of the Canadian Association of Orthodontists and President of the Royal College of Dentistry of Canada. He was also active in international dental organizations including acting as President of the Pierre Fauchard Academy, delegate to Federation Dental International meetings and he chaired the Atlantic section of the American Academy of Dentists. Not surprisingly, one of the skills he was proudest of was his ability to run effective meetings! This was a reflection of his desire to accomplish all that could be accomplished in whatever he did. No task was too daunting for him whether professional or personal and this was the spirit he brought to all of his work. These many organizations and their memberships, and all the people that worked with him benefited from this spirit and his ability to inject it into his leadership roles. Mike was equally passionate about volunteering, helping and leading in civic duty and community service. He served as President of the Moncton Boys Club, Chairman of the National council of Boys and Girls Clubs of Canada and he was active in fundraising for these organizations. He was a fundraiser for the Easter Seal Campaign, President of the Moncton Rotary club (and had perfect attendance there for 43 years), a District Governor of Rotary and a Provincial President of the McGill University Alumni Association. He loved hockey and served on the Executive Committee of the New Brunswick Hawks. He was a bilingual Councilor at Large of the Moncton City Council from 1970 to 1974 and later served as chair of the 8000 seat Moncton Coliseum Commission. He was active in local business as well co-founding C103 FM in 1988. His contributions have been recognized by many awards such as the top Pierre Fauchard Academy award, and Distinguished service awards from the Canadian Dental and Orthodontic Associations. He was awarded the Queen's Silver Jubilee Medal in 1977 and the Builder of Youth award from the Moncton Boys and Girls Club. His greatest enjoyment and likely what he considered to be the greatest of these many honors he enjoyed until the time of his death, being "Boppy" to his seven grand children. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Nancy (Green) Cripton; son, Michael, Halifax; daughter, Mary, Halifax; son, Peter (Cara Inglis) Vancouver; son, David (Nadia Jenefsky) New York; and son-in-law, Harry Fitzgerald (Halifax); sister, Jennie Larose and her husband Jacques; and seven beloved grandchildren; Veronika and Max Fitzgerald; Hana, Cara, and Sasha Cripton-Inglis; Benjamin and Stella Cripton.. He was predeceased by brothers Steve, George, and Billy. Visitation will be held at Fair Haven Funeral Home on Thursday, April 3, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. JONES, Reverend Doctor James David - Rev. Dr. David Jones died at North Bay on Thursday March 27th, 2008 at the age of 44 years. The beloved husband of Katherine (nee Marshall) David was the dear son of Rev. James Peter & Mrs. Dorothy Jones of Brockville. Dear sister of the late Edda Galeazzi (Mario), Giuseppe D'Innocenzo (Teresa), the late Angelina DiCarmine (Joe), Vanna Olivieri (Gino), the late Vittoria Canulli (Vittorio), the late Bellarmino D'Innocenzo (Elsa), Don D'Innocenzo (Diane), and many nephews and nieces. Rita was predeceased by her parents Donato and Lucia D'Innocenzo and her parents-in-law, Giovanni and Ines Sciarra. She was born in Isola Del Gran Sasso, Teramo, Italy and lived many years in Welland before returning to live in Italy. MacISAAC, Charles Daniel Hugh - Born in Timmins, Ontario, December 20th, 1944 - Passed on in Acapulco, Mexico March 15th, 2008. In loving memory of Charlie MacIsaac, 63 years, who passed on suddenly, with his loving wife Jessie at his side. “Friends and Family, Charlie has left the building. . .“ If you're looking for him, you'll find him at a Ranger hockey game or in his smoking room at home, still cheering for his New York Rangers. He'll be wearing his blue Ranger jacket and one of his Ranger jerseys. He'll readily show you his hockey collection: Andy Bathgate's Scoring Leader 1955-1956 card; his three NHL Registered Goal-Pucks of Brad Park, Jean Ratelle and Bill Fairbairn in 1972; and his rookie cards. He'll tell you he saw #44, Bobby Orr of the Boston Bruins, play live, at the Montreal Forum or Maple Leaf Gardens. An avid armchair athlete, during baseball season he'll be in his 1992 Blue Jay World Series Champs sweatshirt and he'll glance at his Roberto Alomar rookie card, Pat Borders MVP baseball and 1992 World Series baseball signed by all the Blue Jay Team. Or you may spot him at the annual Elvis Tribute Artists Festival in Collingwood. . . He'll quiz you about Rock 'n Roll history and his personal favourites; Eddie Cochrane, Gene Vincent, Buddy Holly, Ronnie Hawkins, and of course Elvis Presley. He'll tell you he saw Elvis perform live in Las Vegas at the International in 1972 at the height of his talent. He'll reminisce about the concerts he attended at the Grand Theatre or at the Sudbury Arena: George Thorogood, Paul Anka, Bare Naked Ladies, Celine Dion, k.d. Lang, Lee Aaron, Englebert Humperdink, Burton Cummings & Randy Bachman. Wearing his Phantom of the Opera jacket was one of his trademarks. And if you're at Sudbury Racetrack Slots, you just may spot him in the dining room collecting on a winning horse race ticket or playing a slotitting at a slot machine. Charlie grew up in Sudbury, graduating from St. Aloysius Separate School and St. Charles College and then studied at Laurentian and University of Windsor. He was close to all his family and enjoyed summers on Lake Penage in his youth. Charlie was a gentle man, easy to be with. His was a generous spirit. Not a person of many words, he had acute powers of observation and was very perceptive. He enjoyed adding comments to conversations that made others take notice, which revealed his quick wit and wisdom. What a sense of humour he had! Charlie's angels always loved to greet him with a big hug. He lived his life his own way and was a very cool guy. Soulmate and husband of 36 years of Jessie (Cotnam) MacIsaac. Son of Sylvia & J.C. OBITUARY RUTH H. EAGLES 1935-2008 Ruth died peacefully at Father Dowd Residence in Montreal on Monday, March 24. She was predeceased by her parents, Nathaniel and Julia Eagles, and her sister Jean. She was the beloved sister of Shirley Stevenson (Kenneth, deceased) and brothers Donald (Ethel) and Douglas (Betty, deceased). She will be fondly remembered by many in her extended family and friends. Ruth trained as a nurse in Nova Scotia and spent happy years nursing at the Montreal Children's Hospital. When poor health made her give that up, she contended herself looking after her pets and birds. Many thanks to the staff at Father Dowd's who cared for her tenderly during her last years of waning health. Prayers of Rememberance will be offered in her name during Sunday service at Father Dowd's. Interment will take place at a later date in Grand Pre, Nova Scotia. ANDRUCHIW, Eustachia (nee Haftar). (Born Rohatyn, January 1, 1924). Passed away quietly on March 27, 2008 in her eighty-fourth year at the Montreal General Hospital. Predeceased by her loving husband Mykola. Survived by her children Andy (Julie), Lesia (Brian) and Oksana-Shania. Devoted grandmother to Christopher (Chantale), Adrianna (Ben), Yiayia to Thomas, aunt to Zeny (Popy), great-aunt to Amanda (Ari), Tanya and proud great-grandmother to William. She will be remembered by family, friends and neighbours for her gentle and loving nature, always with a smile. Sadly missed by all who knew her.
