MEYER, DORIS MILLICENT The passing of Doris Millicent Meyer of Fredericton, NB, wife of Lense Meyer, occurred on Thursday, March 27, 2008 at Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on March 26, 1923 in Hearts Delight, NF, she was the daughter of the late Bernard and Miriam (Sooley) Reid. Doris enjoyed spending time playing cards with her friends and loved gardening. Besides her husband, Doris is survived by her sons, Tony Meyer (Valerie) of Rusagonis, NB, Bernard Reid (Hazel) of Hearts Delight, NF , Lennie Meyer of Thunder Bay, ON; grandchildren, Jeff, Chris, Susan, Kimberly and Teagan; great-grandchildren, Andrew and Joshua; several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Doris was predeceased by her brother, Reg Reid and his wife Jessie. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, NB on Sunday, March 30, 2008 from 7 to 9 pm. A Funeral Service will take place at York Funeral Home's T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Monday, March 31, 2008 at 2 pm with Pastor Brent MacDonald officiating. Interment will take place in Rusagonis Baptist Cemetery at a later date. MITCHELL, Pamela Louise 1954 - 2008 It is with great sadness that the family of Pamela Louise Mitchell announces that Pam passed away at Rosedale Hospice on March 26, 2008 after a courageous nine month battle with cancer. Pam passed away surrounded by her family who loved her very much. She leaves to mourn her absence, her loving husband Bob Sibbett; daughters, Sarah and Danielle; sisters, Judy (Phil) McDonald, Patti Stephens, Beth Belsile, and Chris Eckstein; grandson Damien; stepmother Audrey Eckstein; brothers, Ian and Even; and nieces and nephews, April, Nicole, Krista, Steven, Max, Robbie, Eric, Paul, and Troy. Pam was born on January 27, 1954 in Churchill, MB. She resided much of her life in Regina, SK, moving to Calgary in 2002 to be with the love of her life Bob Sibbett. Pam was a generous and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She will be missed by all those who knew and loved her. SULLIVAN, Sister Louise Frances February 2, 1916 - March 27, 2008 Sister Louise Frances Sullivan died peacefully on March 27, 2008 at the age of 92, having faithfully lived seventy-one years as a Sister of Charity of St. Louis. Sister Louise was born on February 2, 1916 in a sod house on her grandfather Niles' homestead near Elbow, SK. She was predeceased in her early childhood by her mother Frances, and a few years later by her father John. Over the years she also lost her brothers Ron, Daniel, John and Louis. A few years after the death of her parents Sister Louise became a boarder at St. Theresa's Academy, Medicine Hat and lived there until she graduated in 1934. In August of that year she entered the Congregation of the Sisters of Charity of St. Louis and travelled to Bienville, QC to begin her novitiate. Her training years completed, she made her first profession of religious vows and, as Sister Frances Cecelia, returned to Western Canada in 1937. She attended Normal School in Moose Jaw, SK and obtained her teaching certificate. She began her teaching ministry in Swift Current, SK in 1938. Subsequently, she taught in Wilcox, Medicine Hat, Radville, Melville, Burnaby and Moose Jaw. Sr. Louise's ministry in the classroom encompassed thirty-one years, however she never stopped being a teacher and an educator. After "retirement" Sr. Louise embraced volunteer services with enthusiasm and generosity. Among these activities were visits to hospitals and nursing homes, tutoring, teaching English to new Canadians, Native ministry, and the list goes on. Sister Louise will be remembered for her gentle and generous spirit, her keen interest in history and literature, her compassion for those who are suffering, her lovely singing voice, her capacity for deep thought and her ability to share her wisdom with simplicity. She will be lovingly remembered by the members of her religious community and her extended family of cousins, nephews and nieces. The Sisters of Charity of St. Louis extend their thanks to the staff at St. John's Senior Care Home for the kind and gentle care they gave to Sister Louise, and to the staff and members of Club 36 who brought Louise so much joy each day she went to "work". COLLINS, Dudley - Passed away peacefully at Tufford Nursing Home on Monday, March 17, 2008 at the age of 92. Dudley was the well loved father of Paul Collins (Cathy), grandfather of Jeff (Cathy) of Oakville, Ontario, Craig (Jennifer) of Huntington Beach, California, and great- grandfather to Tyler, Caitie and Bridget. The family wishes to thank the staff at Tufford Manor and Nursing Home for the kindness and good care they provided for Dudley since December 2001. Cremation has taken place and a family service will be scheduled for a future date. If desired, please make donations in Dudley's name to the Alzheimer's Society, the Gideons International in Canada or the memorial fund of Queen Street Baptist Church in St. Catharines. Dudley Hamilton Collins Father, husband, thoughtful friend of many Born March 22, 1915 in India Died gently, March 17, 2008, in St. Catharines, Ontario Age 92 years I have never known another Dudley. I always thought my father's name had a bit of a “high-class“ sound, which was quite ironic for a man whose life was characterized by humility. Born in India, orphaned at birth, Dudley was raised until the age of two by Dr. Jesse Allyn and her sister, Laura, both Baptist medical missionaries. They brought Dudley to Canada in 1917, where he was adopted by Reverend George Collins, and his wife Rebecca. His early years were spent living in a number of small communities - Lachute, Quebec, Almonte and Delaware, Ontario - , where his father served as a Baptist minister. In approximately 1930, Dudley's family moved to London, Ontario at which time he left school, after completing Grade 10, to help support his parents in their retirement years. Dudley grew up in a stern but loving, materially-meagre, faith-based home which greatly influenced his view of life. These beliefs and values are reflected in his favorite hymns and religious songs. Two of the tunes which he sang until his last days were “Trust and Obey“, and “Jesus Loves Me“. I mention this because this was his last form of verbal expression. Indeed, these were not just song titles to him but words that aptly describe both his motivation to serve others and an explanation of his deep contentment and satisfaction with life. From his days as a young man selling fabric and drapes, to six years as a car salesman (one of Ford's top five salesmen in Canada), to selling insurance for London Life, Dudley was a salesman whose ongoing success was based on his reputation for integrity. Appropriately, being a good Samaritan by helping a family whose car was stalled on a rainy evening, opened the door to a new opportunity. The man whom he had helped, offered him a new career as a salesman for London life at the age of 41. For the next 30 years, Dudley's motto was “at your service“, which included calling every client with Christmas and birthday greetings! With such attention to maintaining relationships, it is not surprising that he sold many of the same folks drapes, then cars, and finally life insurance. In retirement, as during his working days, my Dad did not pursue traditional hobbies. He was fastidious about keeping his car clean and polished, and his lawn mowed and trimmed. However, most of his time was spent helping his wife, his friends, and offering Christian service to the community. On a weekly basis, he and my mother visited friends and acquaintances, who were elderly or ill, in their homes, hospitals and nursing homes. For many years, he co-ordinated the Memorial Bible program for the Gideon's Association in London, Ontario. For 30 years, he served on the Board of Directors for the Welland Canal Mission to Sailors. I always considered it interesting that while living in London, he was a long-time member of this Board, based in St. Catharines, the city to which he and my mother would move in 1996. Perhaps the clearest evidence of the deeply rooted nature of Dudley's core values was the way he lived during the last 12 years of his life. Challenged cognitively by Alzheimer's disease, he never stopped smiling, nor singing his favourite hymns and songs. He displayed an attitude of gratitude for everyone, and everything that was done for him, and frequently expressed his awe at the wonderful world created by the God he worshiped, and by the inventiveness of his fellow man. His appreciation for these “gifts“ was so profound, that he felt he had no choice but to do whatever he could to help others. A few years ago, even as life was an ever-increasing challenge, he stated: “Helping people is what I am in the world for.“. His grammar may have been a bit fractured, but the message was as clear as it was all of his life. Like many, I suspect, I will admit that, in my early years I did not fully appreciate the power and wisdom of my father's example. In more recent times, it has been, and will continue to be my goal to ensure that my actions will honor his legacy by providing service and support to others. Paul Collins 11031678

CAPPADOCIA, Caterina (Carcasole) - In loving memory of Caterina (Carcasole) Cappadocia, 87 years, who passed away Saturday, March 22nd, 2008 at the Sudbury Regional Hospital - St. Joseph Site. Born in Pisterzo, Italy, she moved to Canada in 1928 and settled in North Bay, where she married Amadeo in 1939 and they came to Capreol in 1946. She took great pride in raising her family. She worked hard with her husband and they became respected members of the Capreol Community. She attended the “School on Wheels“ to further her education. Caterina was a wonderful cook, she enjoyed having the family together for her excellent pasta dinners. In later years she shared a special bond with her son Tony whose loving care brought much joy to her senior years. Their regular visits to “Timmy's Horton“ and the Dairy Queen brought many friendships and much happiness. Beloved wife of Amadeo Cappadocia predeceased May 28th, 1998. Loving mother of Michael (wife Janet), Jim (wife Darlene), Edward (wife Glynis) and Tony all of Capreol.
