PALMARO, Dino - In loving memory of Dino Palmaro, 75 years, who passed away Sunday, March 23rd, 2008 at the SRH Memorial Site. Dino was born in Sudbury and married Mary (Stevens) in 1955 in Sudbury. A well respected and life time West End resident, he was a union electrical contractor owning and operating Moore Electric Company since 1967. A devout Roman Catholic, he attended Our Lady of Hope Church and he was a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus. Dino had a great affinity and appreciation for the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and spending time at his camp at White's Point on Manitoulin Island. He took great pride and delight in growing his own apples which his wife baked into delicious pies. Over the years, he had beautiful and bountiful gardens. He will be remembered for his inspired work and devotion to his loving family. He will be sadly missed but never forgotten. Beloved husband of Mary (Stevens) Palmaro. Loving father of Chris (wife Janice), Teresa Ann (husband Len Conlon), Lisa (husband Wayne Paquette) and Grant (wife Antonella). Cherished grandfather of Sean, Scott, Neil, Casey, Logan and Lola. Dear son of Louis and Irma (Narduzzi) Palmaro predeceased. Né à Saint-Henri-de-Lévis, Québec le 17 mars 1927, il était fils de feu Wilfred Fortin et Alvine (Jolicoeur) Fortin. Il laisse dans le deuil sa deuxième épouse, Jéralyne Fortin; une fille, Nathalie Fortin de New York; trois fils: Siméon Fortin (Louise) et Stéphane Fortin, tous deux de Repentigny, Québec et Serge Fortin de Toronto, Ontario; un frère, Jean-Claude de Lévis, Québec; deux soeurs: Suzanne Fortin et Marie Fortin, toutes deux de Lévis, Québec, ainsi que quatre petits-enfants. Deux soeurs: Clémence et Michelle, ainsi que deux frères: Albert et Clair, l’ont précédé dans la tombe. M. Fortin s’est retiré de la Gendarmerie royale du Canada en 1983. Il était membre de l’Association des aînés francophones du N.-B., de l’Association des retraités de la GRC, du Club social de Lewisville et de l’Association des retraités fédéraux (FSNA). HALCROW, Kathleen Mary The family of Kathleen Mary Halcrow (nee Sullivan) regrets to announce her death on Wednesday, March 19, 2008. She is survived by her children Bryanne Wood, Liz Harder, Don (Christine) Halcrow, and Rob Halcrow (Susie Campbell); her grandchildren Elizabeth Wood, Tanis (Rob) Bartlett, her grandson David's widow Cathy, Stephanie Harder (Grant Howard), and Aiden Halcrow, along with her great-grandchildren Riley and Connor Bartlett, Tauran Wood, Jasper, Ambrose and Felix Wood, and Bradley Howard. She is also survived by her brother Art (Anne) Sullivan, and her sisters Alma Lawson and Coralie (Albert) Bond. Mom was born in Big Bend (near Innisfail, Alberta) the second of six children. She graduated from Crescent Heights High School in Calgary, where she met, and later married, Lyle Heimbecker, who was killed in World War II. She owned and ran a ranch near Canmore for several years with her second husband, Barry Davidson. After her return to Calgary, she became the first woman in Canada to sell television advertising (for CHCT-TV). She married Sandy Halcrow during this period. She later became a successful Realtor in the city. Beta Sigma Phi, an international women's organization, benefited for many years from Mom's managerial and creative skills. She served in a number of capacities in various chapters, including president of the sorority's city council. She modelled in the major fund-raising annual fashion shows, eventually training models, co-ordinating the show itself and commentating. Strong friendships forged in Beta Sigma Phi lasted her lifetime. Mom enjoyed travel, visiting over thirty countries. She loved opera and belonged to the Opera Society. She played the organ and tried her hand at painting and creative writing. She loved dachshunds, especially that dachshund Willy! Mom had an insatiable appetite for news and politics, was intelligent and articulate, loved words and their meanings, valued education and learning. It was Mom's long-expressed wish to donate her body for education and research to the University of Calgary's Body Bequeathal Program, and we have honoured that. We would like to especially acknowledge Toni Jonit and Judy Stell-Holowa. We are so very grateful for their loving care and companionship to Mom during her last months. We also wish to thank William Hayes, a dear friend she treasured. A gathering to remember Mom is planned for Thursday, March 27 at 2:00 p.m. at 20 Norquay Hts N.W. Walter was an army reservist for several years and worked at the Minard's Liniment Company. He then worked on the MV Bluenose for 33 years, and as past president of CBRT & GW Local 315. Walter liked being outside, he enjoyed spending time doing yard work, mowing the lawn, and spending time with his family and grandchildren. He was a great Scrabble partner. She was born November 8, 1925, in Thunder Bay Ontario, Canada, to Thoralf and Selma Hedvall Axelson. She was married for 56 years to John (Jack) Chapin, who survives. Also surviving are son John of Grand Rapids, MI, daughter Janice (Bob Stranzenbach) and granddaughter Elizabeth Stranzenbach of Scotch Plains, NJ, and son James Chapin of Franklin. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother Kenneth Axelson of California. Earldine was a wife, mother, homemaker, painter, gardener, cook, and quilter. She was active in church, Gideons, and the ARC. The funeral will be on Friday in Franklin Indiana.

M. JONHNY CHEEZO 1943-2008 MALARTIC - Est décédé le 12 mars 2008, au Centre hospitalier de Val-d’Or, à l’âge de 65 ans, M. Jonhny Cheezo, conjoint de feu Mani Brazeau, domicilié à Malartic. DARLING, PATRICIA BERYL - Mrs. Patricia Beryl Darling of Pleasant Ridge passed away at the Sussex Health Centre on March 22, 2008 at the age of 72. Born in Millstream on September 17, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Arnold and Violet (Chilton) Mott. Pat is survived by Ron, her husband of 53 years; two sons, Otty Darling and his wife, Jeannine of Sturgeon Falls, Ontario, Paul Darling and Corinna Porter of Saint John; her brother, Beverly Mott and his wife, Darlene of Marshall Hill; six grandchildren, Julie and her husband, Wade, Ghyslaine and her husband, Jeremy, Jennifer and her husband, Brad, Tanner, Robyn, and Andrew; five great grandchildren, August, Tamara, Samuel, Daniel, Tyson; as well as several nieces and nephews. Pat was predeceased by her brother, Jack Mott and by two sisters, Elaine McLean and Geraldine Mott. Pat was a wonderful wife and mother. She loved to cook and watch all the wildlife that found their way near her home in Pleasant Ridge. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, (433-1176). At Pat's request no visitation will be held. A Celebration of Pat's life will be held from Wallace Community Chapel on Tuesday, March 25th at 2:00pm.
