ORR, Mary (nee Lawrence). It is with great sorrow we announce the loss of a loving wife and special mother on March 12, 2008 at St. Mary's Hospital. She will be greatly missed by her husband Leslie and her children Allyson, Lorraine and Malcolm (Nadine). Loving grandma to Karlina, Laura and William. Predeceased by her parents Irving and Alida, her sister Patricia (late Jim McCaffrey) and brother Malcolm (Ann). Survived by brothers William (Sheila), Robert (Jeannie) and John (Marjorie) as well as by many nieces and nephews. Lorraine McMeekin of Kapuskasing, died at Sensenbrenner Hospital on March 1, 2008. Mrs. McMeekin was born Jan. 28, 1950 in Sturgeon Falls. She was a day apparel processor at Wal-Mart. She was involved with Scouts and enjoyed weaving at the Centre de Loisirs and the Golden Age Club and liked to knit, crochet, do crafts, camping and fishing. She is survived by her husband Edwin; children Terri-Lynn McMeekin (companion of Daniel Duval) of Mattice and Jeffrey of Kap; her father Fernand Séguin of Temagami; brothers Norm (Jill) Séguin and Bruno (Debbie) Séguin, all of Temagami. And Norbert (Debbie) Séguin of Garson; and granddaughters Ireland and Schyler Mrs. McMeekin was predeceased by her mother Rolande Séguin. Father Fernand Villeneuve will officiate the funeral service March 6, 2008 at 10 :30 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Church. Cremation at the Hillcrest Crematorium in Matheson. Lionel Girard of Val Rita died at Sudbury Memorial Hospital on March 7, 2008. Mr. Girard was born on July 13, 1947 in Brampton. He worked as a stock runner for Spruce Falls. Marie and Daniel (Mary) of Timmins; step-siblings: Diane (Rick) Hogan, Dave Smith of Kenora, Dorothy Weitzenbauer of Ottawa, and Barbara (Ron) Ingram of Bracebridge; and grandchildren Mathieu, Brayden and Cloée. Mr. Girard was predeceased by his father Joseph and his stepfather Normand Smith. Father Fernand Villeneuve will officiate the funeral service March 12 at 10:30 a.m. at Saint Rita Church. Yvette Bélanger of Kapuskasing, died at Sensenbrenner Hospital on February 19, 2008. Mrs. Bélanger was born on May 25, 1930 in Kapuskasing. She was a homemaker. She was a member of the Hospital Auxiliary and enjoyed playing golf, walking, downhill skiing, cross-country skiing, bowling, badminton, cooking, playing bridge and spending time with her grandchildren. She is survived one son, Paul (Solange Boulet-Bélanger) of Kapuskasing ; one daughter, Jo-Anne Bélanger-Moar (Wayne Moar) of New Liskeard ; one sister, Rolande Dumais of Kapuskasing ; two half-sisters, Ninette Dupuis of Haileybury and Lise Lallier of Welland ; one half-brother, Guy Lallier of Moonbeam and five grandchildren, Kyle, Kelly-Anne, Lindsey, Sara and Jonathan. Mrs. Bélanger was predeceased by her husband, Antonin Bélanger. Father Gilles Gosselin officiated the funeral service Feb. 22, 2008 at Immaculée Conception Church. WALTON, Joyce Mary (nee Atkinson) - October 21, 1916 - March 11, 2008. Joyce passed away peacefully in her sleep at St. Catharines General Hospital after a brief battle with Cancer in her 92nd year. She was born in Toronto, Ontario, at Grace Hospital; daughter of Charles Atkinson and Florence (nee Collins). Beloved wife of the late Frederick R Walton (1994). Dear mother of John and his wife Donna of Tillsonburg, Ontario, and Robin and his wife Fiona (McLaren) of Portland, Oregon. Loving Grandmother of Alisa Walton (Mark McKeon), Christopher Walton (Tiina Ahokas) and Skye (McLaren-Walton); great Grandmother of William John and (DJ) David James (Walton-McKeon). Survived by her friend and sister-in-law Delores; six nieces and nephews, and ten great-nieces and great-nephews. Predeceased by her brother Frederick Atkinson, brother-in-law Eldon and his wife Joyce. Joyce was trained as a Nursery Nurse at Sick Children's Hospital in Toronto and worked for the McLaughlin, Bright, and Keller families in Toronto, Queenston, and Regina before marrying Fred in 1940. She was a much- loved member of Grace Anglican Church - recipient of the Order of Niagara 2003 she was active in the Altar Guild for 62 years, taught Sunday school for 30 years, was the first president of the evening branch of the ACW, a position she held for 7 years, and was instrumental in initiating the first children's Lenten Services. Joyce was also a member of the St. Catharines Horticultural Society, and the Boomerang Chapter of the Family Campers and RVrs (NCHA). The family wishes to express deep gratitude and appreciation to the Sisters at the Mount Carmel Home for their support and love during her residence with them. SGAMBELLURI, Gerald “Jerry” 2008-03-14 The family wishes to announce, with great sadness, the passing of Gerald Sgambelluri on March 12, 2008 at the TBRHSC. After a courageous battle with a series of illness’ Jerry passed away peacefully, with his wife by his side. He was born and raised in Westfort and married Margaret Basso, his wife of 48 years. Jerry worked for many years as a millwright for Ontario Power Generation (OPG) and retired in 1990. He worked hard fixing his camp on Graham Lake where he and his family spent every summer. His favourite pastime was the many hours he spent in his garden. He enjoyed his leisurely rides around Westfort and morning coffee time with the gang. Jerry will be sadly missed by his wife Margie, and children Cathy (Terry) Bevilacqua, Lynn (Sal) Piccolo, Paul (Suzanne) Sgambelluri, Elaine (Kyle) Stanfield and his 7 grandchildren; Branden, Callie, Sarah-Anne, Rebecca, Preston, Ashton and Devin who were the light of his life. SAWIAK, Helen 2008-03-14 Mrs. Helen Sawiak, 90, passed away peacefully on March 14, 2008. This loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother was predeceased by husband Walter in 1971, and by brothers Walter and Edward. She will be ever remembered and missed by son Gordon (Renate), grandsons David (Karen) and Jason (Dana) and five beautiful great-granddaughters, Jordan, Erin, Nahlina, Sarah and Ally, as well as family members in Winnipeg and Toronto. The family extends sincere appreciation to the staff at Roseview Manor who went out of their way to provide comfort and care for Helen during her residence there. In following Helen‘s wishes, cremation has taken place and will be followed by a private interment of ashes at a later date.

WILLUMSEN, Arnold February 7, 1936 - March 6, 2008 An intrepid traveler, Arnold set off on his final journey on Thursday, March 6, 2008...after an heroic, brief battle with cancer. Having just celebrated his 72nd birthday, Arnold did not go "quietly into that good night," rather he fought against the cancer with the same determination and spirit that he had applied to every aspect of his colorful life. His beloved wife Tania and his children were at his side at the Foothills Country Hospice in Okotoks, Alberta. Arnold will be missed by his devoted wife Tania, daughters Shauna (Gordon) Koppang and Erin (Brian) Willumsen, son Ian (Debbie) and granddaughters Amy and Laura, niece Susan (Dave), nephew John (Lisa), grandnephews Michael, Scot, Lucas and niece Nicola, mother-in-law Anne Murenko (Paul), brother-in-law Igor (Peggy), sister-in-law Lucie (Joe), nieces and nephews Jessica, Vanessa, Christopher and Andrew. Arnold was born on February 7, 1936 in Calgary, AB. He attended Strathcona School for Boys in Calgary, then moved to Appleby College in Oakville, ON where he graduated from high school. He completed his first degree in Physical Education in 1954 in Ollerup, Denmark, where he excelled as a world class gymnast. He returned to Canada and proceeded to the University of Alberta in Edmonton completing a Bachelor of Civil Engineering degree in 1958. He joined the family's general contracting firm, Larwill Construction Company Ltd., where he began as a laborer on commercial construction sites and worked his way up taking over as President in 1975. After selling the firm in 1989, he started up Willumsen Ventures Inc. specializing in forensic engineering, namely structural failures. Early in his career in construction, he became concerned about the welfare of employees and was instrumental in starting the first health, welfare and pension trust funds for the construction related industry unions in Alberta and parts of Western Canada, along with Funds Administrative Services, a firm providing administration of these plans to the Laborers of Western Canada, Electrical Workers of Alberta, Bricklayers, Carpenters...... He was an expert in arbitration and resolution of union management issues and served on several international boards as trustee and chair. He served as Chair of the Calgary General Contractors Association, Canadian Board of the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans, The Calgary Firefighters Supplementary Pension Plan and numerous boards of trustees over a forty year period. In his spare time, he had a passion for nature - mountaineering, motorcycles, handball, photography and farming. In recent years, he became a serious photographer exhibiting and selling his landscapes. Arnold will be remembered for his integrity, chivalry and humour. The family thanks Dr. Ian Kendal, Family Physician, and Dr. Scot Dowden and his entire clinical team at the Tom Baker Cancer Center in Calgary. BLAKELEY, Bruce Barton Employee of Corrections Canada for 30 years - Peacefully at the Kingston General Hospital after a long struggle with many medical problems, passed away Wednesday, March 12, 2008, with his wife at his side. Jean is reunited with her beloved husband Allan (2005) and her sister Peggy (2002).
