SOEUR Marguerite Larouche LAROUCHE (Soeur Marguerite) Est décédée à la Maison provinciale des soeurs du Bon-Pasteur le 9 mars 2008 à l'âge de 73 ans et 2 mois, Soeur Marguerite Larouche (Soeur Marie-Candide) après 55 ans de vie religieuse dans la Congrégation des Soeurs du Bon-Pasteur. La Communauté accueillera les parents et amis à la Maison provinciale du Bon-Pasteur, 424 rue Bégin Chicoutimi à partir de 19 h le lundi 10 mars 2008. Les funérailles auront lieu le mardi 11 mars 2008 à 10 h à la chapelle de la Maison provinciale du Bon-Pasteur, 424, rue Bégin, Chicoutimi. L'inhumation aura lieu au cimetière de Notre-Dame de Laterrière. Soeur Marguerite Larouche est née à Jonquière, paroisse de Saint-Dominique. Elle était la fille de feu M. Osias Larouche et de feu dame Aline Bouchard. Enseignante au début de sa vie religieuse pendant onze ans (1956-1977), soeur Marie-Candide, elle portait bien son nom, a fait une oeuvre d'éducation marquée au coin de la douceur à des jeunes du cours primaire et secondaire à Chicoutimi et à Chapais. Ensuite, soeur Margueirte Larouche a opté pour un travail dans le domaine de la santé. Infirmière autorisée en 1970, elle a prodigué avec compétence et dévouement des soins attentionnés et bienveillants à Québec dans trois milieux hospitaliers du Bon-Pasteur (1970-1981) et dans des dispensaires en Haïti, soit au Carrefour-Sanon et à Prévilé, diosèse de Jérémie (1981-2004). A Prévilé elle fut aussi supérieure et économe. Toujours, soeur Marguerite a manifesté des qualités d'écoute et d'ouverture. La musique, la nature, les sports et l'actualité l'intéressaient vivement. Volontaire et spontanée, mais vraiment aimable, elle était de bonne compagnie avec toutes et tous. Outre sa famille religieuse, soeur Marguerite laisse dans le deuil ses frères et soeurs: Olivier (Lucette Harvey), Candide, Michel (Lucette Desrosiers), Suzanne, Denis, Andrée (feu Richard Lalonde), Jeannine (Jean-Marie Poniewiera, Noël (Annette Brassard), Christian (Lise Harvey) et Rémi (Liliane Harvey, ex-conjointe). Elle était aussi la soeur de: feu Raymond (feu Aline Boudreault), feu Lucien et feu Jean-Claude. Également, soeur Marguerite laisse dans le deuil des neveux et nièces affectionnés et de nombreux parents et amis. SMITH, Harvey Johnson - Age 88, of Alma Rd., Sylvester, and formerly of Stellarton, passed away suddenly at home on Saturday March 8, 2008. Born in Smithville, Inverness Co., February 26,1920, he was a son of the late Eddie Dave and Janet (Johnson) Smith. Harvey was a former resident of Stellarton until 2003 when he moved to Sylvester. He served in the Royal Canadian Navy aboard the H.M.C.S. Stadacona from 1942-1945. Harvey was a former member of the Admiral Murray Naval Association. He was a former employee of Maritime Steel and worked also as a Commissionaire at Scott Paper for many years retiring due to his health. Harvey enjoyed Cape Breton fiddle music and also liked to garden. He was a long-time member of A. A. New Glasgow. He will be sadly missed by sons, Harvey W. (Hazel Fraser), Trafalgar; Barry (Faye) Smith, Eureka; his loving grandchildren, Harvey (Kelly) Smith, Westville; Chris Smith (Tara), Calgary, Alta.; Celyn (Mike) Welsh, Black Point; Lisa Smith (Allen Bell) of Eureka; great-grandchildren whom he loved dearly, Anthony and Arron Welsh, Cody and Cassie Smith; sisters, Alice Hendsbee, Smithville, Inverness Co.; Rachael Bernard, Toronto, Ont.; brother, Joe (Carolyn), Ontario. Harvey is also survived by his caregivers, Ellen and Kenny Cantley, Sylvester and family with whom he resided for the past five years and his beloved dog, Buffy. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Bertha Clark; brothers, Harold, Maxwell and Richard "Dick". Cremation has taken place. The family will receive visitors from 7-9 p.m., Tuesday in H.C.MacQuarrie Funeral Home, Stellarton from where a memorial service will be held on Wednesday at 2 p.m., with Rev. Charles McPherson officiating. Burial will be in Heatherdale Memorial Gardens. Donations in memory of Harvey may be made to the Pictou County S.P.C.A or to a charity of one's choice.

TRÉPANIER, Jacques 1943 - 2008 De Longueuil, le 6 mars 2008, à l'âge de 64 ans, est décédé M. Jacques Trépanier, à la Maison Victor-Gadbois, suite à un long combat contre le cancer. BORG (Bergman), Eileen 2008-03-10 Eileen passed away on March 9th at St. Joseph‘s Hospice Unit after a 10 year battle with colon cancer. She was always the optimistic one and lived each day being happy and hoping for “just one more day”. Eileen loved her life and fought the good fight. She was born on June 24, 1947 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, the daughter of Sigurd and Margaret Bergman. She grew up in Atikokan, Ontario and left there in 1964 to live with her grandparents in Winnipeg. She worked for Winnipeg Photo for a few years and met and married her first husband in 1965. After their son was born, Eileen divorced and became a single mom to her son Eddie and they returned to Thunder Bay where she attended Confederation College in 1968 to take the Medical Secretary course. She started working at Thunder Bay Regional Hospital (Laboratory) in 1970 and worked there for ten years. She was looking to pursue a different career path so she left there and went to work for the Port Arthur Clinic where she learned a lot about computers. She was at the clinic for 3 years. It was at this time that she met and fell madly in love with Darcy Borg and they married in 1984. She than returned to work her remaining years at Thunder Bay Regional Hospital till illness forced her to retire in 2003. Eileen loved all animals and was a spokesperson for any animal that needed help. She was totally devoted to her own pets and got much enjoyment from them. Eileen loved to fish and enjoyed their camp at Lac Du Mille Lac with her husband, Darcy. They enjoyed many happy years there. She also loved to watch TV, lunch with friends, play on her computer but mostly, just to walk Twister and enjoy her love of life, nature watching her flowers grow. Eileen has many friends here in Thunder Bay and abroad. She had her wish fulfilled to see Daniel O‘Donnell in concert in Chicago and again in Branson where she had the pleasure of Daniel‘s company at a dinner in his honor, with her longtime friend, Norma Holbrook. She loved to watch her children and grandchildren grow up and accomplish their dreams and to know that “anything is possible” in life. She was so proud of her son, her stepchildren and always showed them and told them how much she loved them. Eileen also found her long lost niece, Julie Bergman in 2004 through the internet. They spent time with each other during the summer of 2004 during which Eileen and Julie enjoyed much happiness. Eileen had time to contemplate her life and realize what is and is not important and how lucky she was to be a part of something so much bigger than all of us. She loved working at the hospital and her co-workers were so much a part of her. She always stressed how much love she felt for them and how distressed she was knowing that she would never be returning to work. Her job was so much a big part of her and happiness. After coming to terms with this, she accepted it and continued into the next phase of her life. Last year Eileen enjoyed a fabulous trip to Hawaii with her husband Darcy‘s twin sister Geraldine and Geraldine‘s husband Bob and their family. This trip provided Eileen great joy and was filled with fond memories which she talked about right up until her final days. Eileen is survived by her husband Darcy; son Edward Blondeau (Donna Lubuk); beloved animals, Twister and Lucky; her mother, Margaret Bergman, Atikokan; brother, Brian Bergman (Donna); sister, Shirley Mosley (Jim). Also surviving are Stepdaughters Darcia Borg-Panasyk (Scott); Janey Puurula (Victor); stepson, Darren Borg (Marianne). Grandchildren are Alicia, Danielle, Terri-Lyn Blondeau; Ashley Borg (Adrian Hagar); Emily and Elias Puurula; Jessica Borg-Green; nieces Roslyn Bergman, Julie Bergman, and nephews Ryan Mosley and Mark Cavcar. She was predeceased by her father and niece Krysta Mosley. We would like to thank the nurses at the Hospice Unit for their compassionate care of Eileen and to Darren, the 4th year nursing student for his kindness and care of Eileen. According to Eileen‘s wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of Eileen‘s life will be held on Wednesday, March 12th at 1:00 pm at Castlegreen Community Centre at 213 Castlegreen Drive. Memorial donations can be made to the Thunder Bay District Humane Society.

LAPIERRE, George Elpheige August 9, 1912 - March 7, 2008 George Lapierre of Calgary, passed away on Friday, March 7, 2008 at the age of 95 years. George, the son of Azilda Tetreault and Elpheige Lapierre, was born in Morinville, AB and grew up on the family farm near Pickardville. While playing in a local band he met the love of his life, Irene Eklund of Mayerthrope, AB. They were married on June 21, 1938. Shortly after, George enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force and served his country during World War II. He then started his own automotive repair, fuel sales and RV dealership. George will always be remembered for his dedication and strong work ethic. In his spare time he enjoyed playing his accordion, piano and keyboards. George's final years were spent at the Jackson Willan Senior's Residence and the George Boyack Facility. George will be remembered by his sister, Irene Lavoie of Edmonton; his five children, Theresa Lapierre of Arizona, Darrel Lapierre of Calgary, Dennis (Renee) Lapierre of Falkland, BC, Rosanne (Boris) Hromic of Cochrane, Maurice (Linda) Lapierre of Calgary; and also numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. George was predeceased by Irene Lapierre, his wife of sixty-two years, and his brother, Wilfred Lapierre of Quebec. Elle débuta sa carrière à la Caisse centrale du Mouvement Desjardins pour poursuivre une carrière de 35 ans dans l'entreprise familiale Magnus Poirier et plus particulièrement, comme directrice du Complexe funéraire De Castelneau et réceptionniste au siège-social. Danseuse émérite accomplie, elle était le point de mire de plusieurs. Résidente de Mascouche depuis 27 ans, elle prit une retraite bien méritée en 2000 pour s'entourer de l'amour des siens. Elle sera exposée au complexe funéraire (angle Fleury) mardi et mercredi de 14 à 17 heures et de 19 à 22 heures. Les funérailles seront célébrées le jeudi 13 mars à 10 heures en la chapelle du complexe, suivies de la mise en crypte au mausolée St-Vincent-de-Paul du cimetière de Laval. VENTRESCA, Adelia - Born March 27, 1920 in Torre Dei Nolfi, Italy, passed away on Friday, March 7, 2008 at the Welland Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Cancer had painfully, mercilessly and relentlessly consumed her body and took her life. Survived by her two sons Felix (Dolores) and Louie (Penny) of Welland. Adelia was a loving Nonna to Adri, Anthony (Sara), Belinda (Tim), Michael (Sherry), Mark (Angela) and Great-Nonna to Kaylee, Payten, Jessie and Michael. Adelia leaves behind two sisters Giovina Ventresca, Maria Bevilacqua (Antonio) and many loving brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws, nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her beloved husband Pietro in 1997, her parents Antonio and Egidia Molinaro, her brothers Remo and Panfilo Molinaro and infant great- granddaughter Gracie Lynn. Adelia had an independent spirit, devotion for helping her family, a deep commitment for conservation and a passion for long walks with her sister Giovina. All those who loved her will dearly miss her work ethic, energy, generosity and sense of humour. Adelia will be resting at J.J. WILFLEY, James (Jim) Arnold September 2, 1926 - March 7, 2008 James (Jim) Arnold Wilfley passed away peacefully, at home, on Friday, March 7, 2008 at the age of 81 years. Jim was born in Portland, OR, on September 2, 1926. Jim's boundless energy, enthusiasm and positive outlook ensured he accomplished many great things in his life. But if you asked him what he was most proud of, he was sure to say "his family". He liked nothing more than to spend time conversing with family and friends about any topic under the sun, but especially about what the kids were up to, business and politics. Jim was raised by his grandparents JC and Minnie in Brooks, AB, where he excelled in school and sports, notably hockey and baseball. After Jim graduated from Brooks High School he completed a two year diploma program at Olds Agricultural College. Jim had great success in his careers with Massey Ferguson and Atco before founding Lakeside Farm Industries (Brooks, AB) in 1966. Inside of five years Jim and his partners had grown Lakeside Feeders into the largest feedlot in Canada, and for the next twenty-one years they continued to expand and innovate. Jim also found time to establish and nurture two family enterprises in Windermere, BC that provided endless enjoyment because of the opportunity to work alongside his children. The cabin at Fairmont, BC, and watching his grandkids play sports or instruments were special to Jim. He enjoyed golf with the family at Windermere, Earl Grey and Arizona in his retirement. Jim did have a great life with many adventures and accomplishments, but he knew that what made his life truly special were family and friends. Jim will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Gail, of fifty-two years; his children, Susan (Dan), Doug (Fiona), and Bryan; his grandchildren, Lana, Drew, Holly, and James; and his sister Shirley of Medicine Hat, AB. EVERETT, Arden R. - 79, of Liverpool, passed away peacefully in Queens General Hospital, Liverpool, March 7, 2008. Born in Digby, he was a son of the late Oscar and Myrtle (Whynot) Everett. In his early years, Arden worked in the dairy industry and was an employee with Canadian Tire. He was employed with the Town of Liverpool from 1956 to 1968 in the electrical department and moved on to the Nova Scotia Power until 1973 when he started his own business; "Arden and Sons Electrical Limited". He incorporated the business in 1980 and handed the company over to his sons in 2007 after 34 years. Arden enjoyed the out of doors especially nature, hunting and fishing. He was an avid gardener and planted vegetables and tended to his blueberry bushes which he took pride in every year since 1953. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Pat (Soper); sons, Brian (Corrine), Western Head; Phillip (Dianne), Wilmot; Wade (Kathy), Hunt's Point; Darrin, (Janice), Mersey Point; grandchildren, Brian (Erica), Sara, Aaron, Kelsey, Sydney and Adrian; stepgrandchildren, Josh, Chantal, Andrew, Shea and Ceilidh; and step great-grandson Drew; sisters, Helen McNutt, Oshawa, Ont.; Marjorie (Moyle) Crouse, Bridgewater; Edna, Liverpool; brother, Lloyd (Betty), Milton. He was predeceased by a sister Eleanor, and brothers Clayton, John, George and one in infancy. He was employed with the former T.H. & B. Railroad and then the Ford Glass Plant, retiring in 2000 from Marsh Engineering. Mr. Lampman's love was his family, the trailer at Bobcaygen where he would further enjoy his grandchildren, fishing and his retirement. FORGET, Père Léonard, C.S.V. 1926 - 2008 Au Centre hospitalier régional de Lanaudière (Joliette), le 8 mars 2008, est décédé le Père Léonard Forget, Clerc de Saint-Viateur, à l'âge de 82 ans, dans sa 64e année de vie religieuse et sa 35e année de sacerdoce. Né le 6 mars 1926 à Saint-Charles-Borromée de Joliette, il était le fils de Jean-Baptiste Forget et de Berthe Lapierre. Entré au noviciat de Joliette le 2 août 1943, il a prononcé ses premiers voeux le 15 août 1944 et fut ordonné prêtre le 19 mai 1973. Le Père Forget a d'abord enseigné dans les écoles de St-Félix-de-Valois, Sacré-Coeur de Crabtree, St-Pierre, Barthélemy-Joliette et au Séminaire de Joliette. Il fut assistant-directeur, directeur, procureur et professeur aux écoles Sacré-Coeur de Crabtree et de Lanoraie ainsi qu'à St-François de Berthierville. À partir de 1972, il a oeuvré dans le diocèse d'Amos comme curé de plusieurs paroisses, vice-chancelier et chancelier. En 2003, il s'est retiré à Joliette où il vient de décéder. Outre sa famille religieuse, le Père Forget laisse dans le deuil ses frères André et Gilles (Thérèse Préville) ainsi que ses neveux et nièces, Alain, Mona-Lyse, Stéphane et Josée. NAHIRNEY, Anna Anna Nahirney (nee Kit) passed away peacefully in the presence of family on March 8, 2008 at the age of 85 years. Anna was born on October 22, 1922 in Dowzniw, Ukraine. Anna was an active member of the Ladies Auxiliary at the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Ukrainian Catholic Church. Anna was predeceased by her husband Steve in 2005. She is survived by her loving family: Steve Cegielnik, Ann Cegielnik and Helen Kohanik as well as other nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. WILDE, Graham January 10, 1949 - March 3, 2008 Graham Wilde, beloved husband of Stephanie, passed away unexpectedly of a heart attack at his home on Monday, March 3, 2008 at the age of 59 years. Graham was born in Hillingdon, UK and spent his formative years living just outside London. This studious son of a butcher met and fell in love with Stephanie Balfour whilst still at school. Married young, children followed soon after, and in their forty years together they went on to have seven children. Graham graduated top of his class in Engineering at Manchester University and then worked in the oil industry, travelling the world with his family until finally settling in Calgary in 1993. He is lovingly remembered as a strong and loyal man who devoted his life to providing for his family. He was totally committed to his work at BJ Services and felt privileged to be part of an exceptional team of men and women, many of whom became good friends. Graham is survived by his wife Stephanie; his children, Matthew, Samantha, Alexandra, Graham, Peter, Benedict and Sophie; and his grandchildren, Rufus, Ece, Jenny, Eliz and Roxana. THOMPSON, Phyllis Macaulay nee Plummer The death of Phyllis Thompson of Saint John, New Brunswick and Perth, Ontario occurred unexpectedly at the University of Ottawa Heart Institute, Ottawa on Friday, March 7, 2008. Born in Saint John on April 5, 1917 the fourth daughter of the late Arthur Gordon Plummer and the late Greta Eugene Finley, she is survived by her sons Robert Gordon Thompson of Perth and Phillip Douglas Thompson (Susan) of Rothesay, NB; her grandsons Jay, Robert and Joel Thompson of Saint John and Rothesay; her brothers Arthur G. Plummer of Halifax, NS, David K. Plummer of Marietta, Georgia; and her sister Gene C. Moore of Fredericton. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her sisters Margaret V. Nielsen, Ruth F. Church and Anita H. Diamond. Mrs. Thompson worked for many years for members of Parliament including Mr. Bert Herridge and former Prime Minister John Turner. Upon retirement she returned to Saint John where she was able to spend many happy years with her family and at her summer cottage at Sand Point. More recently, she took up residence with her son Robert in Perth. At her request, funeral arrangements will be private. Interment with her parents at Fernhill Cemetery in Saint John will occur later in the Spring. ANDREWS, Neta M. - Diamond Street, Westville passed away on Saturday, March 8, 2008, in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Ever since Neta May Andrews (Robbins) was born on August 23, 1926, she brought joy, love and friendship to everyone who had the privilege to be part of her life. She was a warm and loving wife to Bill, mother to April and Cindy, grandmother to Erika and Jennifer and great-grandmother to Jakob and Keira, who affectionately called her Gigi. She was a tiny women with a big heart, generous spirit and had a sincere smile ready for everyone. We all loved her so much and she will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She was a member of St. Paul United Church and a member of the L.O.B.A. She was a member of the Acadia Sisters where she served as Past Worthy Mistress; served as treasurer of Grand Lodge of Nova Scotia and was Past Senior Precettress of the Crystal Chapter # 66. She loved to crochet, read and work on crossword puzzles and was an awesome crib player. She is survived by her husband of almost 63 years, Bill Andrews; daughter, April Andrews (Allan Darroch), Westville; Cindy Andrews (Stephen MacNeil), New Glasgow; granddaughter, Jennifer (Sparks) Feit (Lewie), Salt Springs; Erika (Sparks) McCluskey (Troy), Truro; great-grandchildren, Jakob and Keira McCluskey, Truro. She is also survived by sister Ruby O'Brien (George), Ont.; brothers, Raymond Robbins (Joyce), Ontario and Clarence Robbins (Joan), Ontario. And many nieces and nephews. Neta was predeceased by her parents, Gideon and Sarah (Radcliff) Robbins; a sister, Lillian Goss and brothers Fred and Harold Robbins. Visitations will be held on today from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at Eagles funeral Home, Westville. Her funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday from Eagles Funeral Chapel, Westville with the Rev. Doug Pilsworth officiating. The L.O.B.A. will conduct a service at 6:30 p.m. today at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Nova Scotia Heart and Stroke Foundation.

JARDINE, Grace Elizabeth - Truro, passed away on March 8, 2008, in Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro, following a heart attack. Born on March 11, 1927, in Churchover, Shelburne Co., she was the only daughter of the late Percy and Florence (Rapp) Deinstadt. Grace was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She graduated with honours from the commercial department of Miss Murphy's Business College in Halifax. She was employed with the Canadian National Railway for 15 years and the Nova Scotia Department of Agriculture and Marketing for 22 years. Grace was an active member of Immaculate Conception Parish, the Catholic Women's League and the Heart and Stroke Club. She was a vibrant lady with a gracious and generous heart who enriched many lives with her warmth, laughter and welcoming arms. Grace was an inspiration to her many friends and associates. She was predeceased by her husband, F. Edison; brothers, Earle and Ralph; cousin, Ronald Goulden. She is survived by five nieces and four nephews in Ontario and British Columbia. Visitation will be held in Our Lady's Chapel of Immaculate Conception Church, 669 Prince St, Truro, today from 7-9 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held in Immaculate Conception Church on Tuesday, March 11, at 11 a.m., Father Ronald Cairns celebrant. Following the service, refreshments will be served in Campbell Hall. Spring interment will be held in the Parish Cemetery, Robie Street, Truro. He worked as a deep sea trawling fisherman.
