Gerard Carrier of Mattice, died February 19, 2008 in Hearst. Mr. Carrier was born May 28, 1925 in Mattice, ON. He was a day labourer for Levesque Lumber. He enjoyed playing cards and spending time with his family. He is survived by his spouse, Amanda, four children, Adrien (Fernande), Adrienne, Pierre (Pascale) and Pauline (Bruno), all of Mattice; two brothers, Noël (Paulette) and Rémi (Aurore), both of Timmins; three sisters, Rose-Hélène and Délina, both of Welland and Germaine Lachance (Gérard) of Kapuskasing; one sister-in-law, Sylvie of Timmins, as well as 17 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his daughter Pierrette and his son Denis. Father Gérald Chalifoux officiated the funeral service Feb. 23, 2008 at St. Fraçois Xavier Church in Mattice. Raymond Lefaivre died February 28, 2008 at the Temiskaming Hospital after a sudden collapse at his home in Haileybury. He was born December 20, 1945 in Haileybury to Ed and Marie Blanche Lefaivre. He married his wife Donna in Haileybury October 16, 1965. Educated in Haileybury, he worked at TransCanada Pipelines for 34 years as a mechanic and heavy equipment operator. Mr. Lefaivre was known as a great guitarist and played in a band with his brothers. He could fix anything and always took care of his family in any way possible and was a person whom all could aspire to be. Mr. Lefaivre is survived by his wife Donna; daughters Diana and Brenda; sisters Alice (Bill) Kramp, Annette (husband Mike); brothers Ron (Therese), Leonard (Joan) and Jean Paul (friend Joyce). The funeral was arranged by Perrin Funeral Chapel in New Liskeard with the service conducted at Our Mother of Perpetual Help Church, of which Mr. Lefaivre was a member. Father John Lemire officiated. Cremation has taken place with burial in the spring at Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Relatives and friends attending the service from out of town came from the Bahamas, Wallaceburg, Vancouver, London, Alberta, Toronto, Kitchener and Burlington. Paul enjoyed his job with the Seaway Authority as a linesman until his retirement. He took great pleasure in trying to communicate with the mariners from various countries in their own languages. For the past 10 years, life was good to Paul as a resident of Extendicare where he participated in many activities. He was fond of the resident felines and fed his outdoor feathered friends daily. . . he was sure they were waiting for him. Angelina was a dear nonna to Tino LaFratta (Sara) of Ottawa, Angela Melo (Mike) of Fonthill, Andria Evangelista of Port Colborne, Angela, Valentina, and Sara Evangelista of Italy and great-grandmother of little Joseph and Sophia LaFratta of Ottawa. Angelina also leaves behind a sister Linuccia Ciolfi (Sylvio) of Italy, brothers Tony Sardella (Rina) and Nicola Sardella (late Filomena) both of Port Colborne and many nieces and nephews. Born at McAdam in 1929, she was a daughter of the late Emery R. Belyea and Marguerite (Short) Wright. Phyllis graduated from McAdam High School and Provincial Normal School. She taught in local schools, first as a full time teacher and in later years, on a supply basis. She loved teaching and interacting with young people which was evident in her relationship with her two grandsons through the years. Phyllis is survived by two sons, Wayne Briggs (Betty), York Mills and Kris Briggs (Jane), Magaguadavic; two grandsons, Trever Briggs, York Mills and Adon Briggs (Stephanie), Upper Kingsclear; a sister, Shirley Melanson (Mike), Debert, NS; a brother-in-law, Manley Briggs (Clarice), Fredericton; two sisters-in-law, Lucille Briggs, Surrey, BC and Betty Price, Tillsonburg, ON; several nieces and nephews. YOLLAND, Ross Edgar (Rosco) July 12, 1941 - February 29, 2008 Ross Edgar (Rosco) Yolland of Calgary, passed away on Friday, February 29, 2008, after a brief struggle with cancer, at the age of 66 years. Ross was born in 1941 in Rossland, BC. After high school, he entered the military and spent eight years working as a mechanic. Ross spent a few years in the insurance industry and a short time as a rig hand in Weyburn, SK before joining the Royal Bank of Canada for seventeen years. Ross was a lifetime member of the Heritage Lions Club and Lions International and received numerous awards during his twenty-five years of service. He enjoyed helping and creating programs for the disadvantaged and especially enjoyed programs for children and the handicapped. Ross enjoyed camping, curling, golfing, entertaining and he had a special passion for cooking. Rosco's Catering gave him many happy years combining entertaining and preparing culinary delights. Ross will be sorely missed and is survived by his daughter Louise (Greg); his son Sheldon (Carol) of Calgary; his grandchildren, Jordan and Jared of Okotoks, AB; his brother Robert (Joan) of Chilliwack, BC; his sister Margaret (John) of Vernon, BC; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends. MADER, Bruce Avard - 82, died peacefully in Dartmouth General Hospital on Thursday, March 6, 2008, following a lengthy illness, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Mahone Bay on August 16, 1925, to George P. and Gladys (Westhaver) Mader. He served 25 years in the Royal Canadian Navy, retiring in 1968 as a Chief Petty Officer. Following his navy service he worked in the real estate industry in Dartmouth. He is survived by son, Dennis Mader and his wife Karen, and their children Rob, Michelle, Michael and Marianne, Dartmouth; daughters, Betty Ann and her son Devon, Dartmouth; Colleen and her husband Chris Rogers, and their daughter Laura, Ottawa. He is also survived by brother, Carl, Silverlake, Ohio, and sister, Helen, Halifax. He was predeceased by his wife, Helen Mildred (Sutherland) Mader; sisters, Molly, Marge, Milly, Jean, and his brother, Arthur "Buddy". His children remember his lively personality and many hobbies over the years, including clothes-making, watch-making, and spending time at his beloved Spondo retreat. He was an avid sports fan and never missed a Blue Jays game. Arrangements have been entrusted to Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main St., Dartmouth. Elle était la grand-mère de 11 petits-enfants et de 14 arrière-petits-enfants. Elle laisse également ses neveux et nièces de la famille Jalbert. Le service religieux a été célébré en l’église Notre-Dame-de-la-Présentation de Thetford Mines. La famille a confié la direction des funérailles à la Maison Gamache et Nadeau ltée, membre de la Corporation des thanatologues du Québec.

SWANSON, Pearl (née Bodick) - Pearl Swanson passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by those she loved. She was predeceased by her father John Bodick Sr., brother John Bodick Jr. and mother in law Norma Swanson.
