HUGHES, JOHN ADAM - The death of John Adam Hughes, age 65, husband of Evelyn Patricia (Pat) Hughes, of Kiersteadville, NB, occurred suddenly at the Saint John Regional Hospital on February 23, 2008. He was the son of the late Thomas and Jessie (MacKenzie) Hughes. He is survived by his wife; daughters Wanda Hughes and David Ryan of Saint John, and Tanya and Leo Sipkema of Midland; son Jason and Susan Hughes of Carter's Point; grandchildren Aaron Hughes-Ryan, Adam, Geena, Liam and Levi Sipkema, Hunter and Spencer Hughes; brothers James and Elaine Hughes of Hagersville, ON, David Hughes, of Hampton, Gordon and Heather Hughes of Midland and Ronald and Muriel Hughes of Belleisle Creek; sister Mary Elizabeth (Betty) McIntyre of Sussex; several nieces, nephews and cousins. REGIMBAL, Rudolph (Rudy) Godfrey - An Officer and a Gentleman - Born March 8th, 1921, Rudolph (Rudy) Godfrey Regimbal passed away peacefully in his home February 24th, 2008 in his 87th year after a decade's long battle with cancer and Parkinson's disease; predeceased by his beloved wife of 63 years, Eva Regimbal (nee Kallio), his parents Telesphore and Laura Regimbal, brother Lionel and sister Lucille. Rudy will be sadly missed by his children Betty Jane (Robert Tramontini) of Ottawa, Cathy (Alison Gould) of Sudbury, John (Marie Regimbal) of Copper Cliff, Judy (Mike Sleik) of Sudbury and Mimi (Jeff Wiseman) of Copper Cliff and grandchildren Paul, Alden, Tegan, Lilah, Jessica, Nissah, Lucas, Christopher, Emily, Thea, Rebecca and James. A Metallurgical Engineering graduate of Queen's University in 1950, Rudy devoted over 33 years to Inco Limited, retiring in 1978 as Assistant Vice President of Milling in Copper Cliff. Rudy played an instrumental role in the start up of Inco's operations in Thompson Manitoba in the early 1960's and went on to consolidate milling in Ontario Operations, designing the Clarabelle Mill in 1967. Rudy always had the highest regard for his work and the people he worked with and he touched many lives through his decades with the company. Even in retirement, Rudy continued to act as an “ambassador“ for the company escorting VIP tours of the operations for another 17 years. Rudy's career at Inco was interrupted during WW2 when he joined the war effort and enrolled in the RCAF. Rudy quickly advanced to Flying Officer and went on to teach others the art of flight. Rudy enjoyed flying immensely and following the war, he went on to many years of recreational flight. He also became a long- standing member of the Canadian Owners and Pilots Association (COPA) and was on the Executive Committee of the Rusty Blakey Heritage Air Show. Rudy was also a supporter of the arts in Sudbury and for a number of years served as a board member of the Sudbury Symphony. Rudy was a passionate man who possessed a great intellect and quick wit but morevover a grace and humility that touched all who knew him. These qualities in conjunction with his pioneering spirit made him a natural leader, resulting in his many significant career and personal accomplishments over the years. His most lasting legacy though will be his love for his family and home life. We are all very blessed to have been able to spend his final days with him at home. This would not have been possible without the steadfast support of a network of health care professionals, including CCAC, Bayshore, For Seniors Only, his family physician and our local pharmacy. The family is truly grateful to have had this encouragement and assistance. Rudy was a truly great man, unique among his peers, whose legacy will live on for many years through both the physical and spiritual foundations he leaves behind. A celebration of Rudy's life will be held at the family home on his birthday, Saturday, March 8th from 1:00 - 4:00 p.m. Friends are welcome to drop in. “Oh! CHRISTIE (Robb), Marion Dennis CHRISTIE (Robb), Marion Dennis - The family of the late Marion (Robb) Christie announce her peaceful passing at home on February 23, 2008. She was born in Sydney on April 5, 1906, to Helen (Dennis) and Andrew W. Robb. In 1914, her father moved the family, Marion, Jean, Stuart and Grandmother Robb to the property where the Bedford United Church stands today. Educated in Bedford, she earned a Bachelor and Master of Arts (1927) at Dalhousie University and a teaching certificate at the Alberta Provincial Normal College. She taught in Alberta for three years. On returning to Bedford in 1932, she worked as a reporter and social editor at the papers her Grandfather Dennis owned, the Halifax Herald and Halifax Mail. Writing, and recording events in her scrapbooks (now at the Manor House), was a lifetime passion. On August 31, 1935, she married long-time friend, George Christie. At their Bedford home they raised Margaret, George (who died at age five), Peter, Ross and Catherine. Returning to teaching when her children were in school, she taught the young people of Bedford an appreciation of History and English until retiring in 1967. For many years she wrote the Bedford Notes for the Bedford Sackville News. Following her father's example, she was active in all aspects of life in Bedford, especially Bedford United Church, where she was the oldest and the only remaining member on the Roll at Church Union. At the time of her death she was Honorary Elder, Honorary Historian for her work on two church histories, and held a UCW Life Membership. Scott Manor House was one of her major interests and until late 2007 she presided at the Reading Room, overseeing numerous monographs on Bedford topics she and George wrote and her scrapbook collection. She was a Charter Member of Heritage 80, the Leisure Club and the Bedford Lawn Bowls. She was also a Charter member of her Eleven Club Bridge Club (1930s), playing weekly until this winter. Community Awards received include the 1986 Provincial Volunteer of the Year representing Bedford, and the Elsie Churchill Tolson Award in 1986. In 2000, she was nationally recognized with the Governor General's Caring Canadian Award presented by Her Excellency The Right Honorable Adrienne Clarkson. The family matriarch, she recently finished the last of her annual news updates for those on an extensive family generational index she set up in 1979. As well as her children, Margaret, Peter (Joan), Ross (Donna) and Catherine, she is survived by grandchildren, Scott (Leanne), Matthew (Shannon), Sean (Tracy), Steven (Sarah), Sheri Christie, Tim (Krista) and Susan Pell and their families; her great-grandchildren, Claire, Anne, Georgia, Ruth, Liah, Heather and Julia Christie, and Rebecca Pell. She is also survived by sister, Margaret MacLean, Bridgenorth, Ont. She was predeceased by husband, George (2003); son, George; infant grandson, Andrew Embree; son-in-law, Robert Embree; her sisters, Jean Muir and Allison Hagen Coady, and brother, Stuart Robb. Beloved by family and friends, she will be missed by all. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, February 28, in Bedford United Church, Rev. David Hart officiating. Visitation will be held in Bedford United Church Narthex on Wednesday, February 27, from 7-9 p.m. and from 2-4 p.m. on Thursday, February 28. Family flowers only. FENNELL, MRS. HELEN T. (BUCKLEY) - of Lynn, MA, died Tuesday, February 5, 2008 in North Shore Medical Center Salem Hospital after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Bernard J. "Buddy" Fennell. Helen was born and educated in St. John, New Brunswick, Canada, daughter of the late Jeremiah and Edith (McKenna) Buckley. She was a graduate of Mount Carmel Academy. She came to the United States from Canada in 1950 and has resided in Lynn. Helen worked as a Receptionist at Odettes Salon in Peabody for 20 years, and previously worked at Prime Manufacturing. She enjoyed being a House wife and a loving mother to her children. She was a communicant of Our Lady of Assumption Church, Lynnfield. She leaves two sons, State Representative Robert F. Fennell and his wife Odette of Lynn and Chatham Police Sergeant Joseph D. Fennell of Chatham; one daughter, Acting Principal of Sisson Elementary School Inez Accursio and her husband James of Lynn; Four grandchildren, Kathleen and William Fennell of Harwich and Ashley and Tanya Fennell of Lynn, two great-grandchildren Kassidy and Lillian Fennell, and several nieces and nephews. She was the grandmother of the late Theresa Fennell and sister of the late Frank Buckley, Evelyn Donovan, Rita Love and Geraldine McCourt. PARR, Samuel Samuel James Parr, beloved husband of Late Gladys Parr, passed away quietly at Wentworth Manor in Calgary on Sunday, February 24, 2008 at the age of 87 years. Sam was born in Bailieborough, County Cavan, Ireland on December 16, 1920 and grew up in the pastoral hills of rural Ireland. After the War he immigrated to Hamilton, Ontario and worked in the booming post-war construction industry. In 1957 Sam married Gladys and they settled down to life in Hamilton. However, the call of the West was strong. In 1962 they moved back to Gladys' family farm on the west side of Calgary and started a new chapter in their lives working the land. Sam loved Calgary so much it was to be his lasting home. Still, a favorite pastime of Sam's was to recount stories of a fairy tale childhood in Ireland. Sam and Gladys were blessed with a wholesome life on the farm and world travel in their later years. Sam is survived by his son John (Heather) and granddaughters Jessica and Hannah of Calgary; his brother Albert (Emily); sister Edith Hunter (Late Willie) and sister Myrtle Kincaid (Cecil) all of Ireland and many nieces and nephews. Sam is predeceased by his loving wife Gladys, his brother John (Violet), his sister May Hayes (Jack) and sister Vina Parr of Ireland and sister Adelaide Johnston (Cecil) of Toronto. The family would like to thank the staff of Wentworth Manor of Calgary for their care and support. The family also wishes to extend a very special thank you to Sam's personal caregiver Rae Lafleur for a level of care that enriched Sam's last years in so many ways. COOPER, Michael Trevor, M.B., Ch. B. Physician, Student, Adventurer Sunday, February 24th at the Elisabeth Bruyere Health Centre in Ottawa, in his 74th year, of the effects of throat cancer. Michael was born April 16, 1934 in Cleckheaton, England. He married Angela Young in 1959 and started his medical career in Nova Scotia in 1960 following an internship in St. John's, Newfoundland. For 17 years he worked in Halifax, Clark's Harbour and then Shelburne as a general practitioner while he and Angela raised their family of 4 children. The family moved to Ottawa in 1977 when Michael joined the Ministry of Health and Welfare. In 1991, he and Angela embarked upon a sailing voyage from Kingston and around the Caribbean ending in Guanaja, Honduras, where they built a house and lived until 2007. Michael is survived by his beloved wife Angela, children Adam (Cathy), Bridget (Bill White), Andrew and David (Julie) and 8 grandchildren: David, Ashley, Matthew, Iain, Grace, Natalie, Jacob and Lily. CROSLEY,Tammy 2008-02-26 Mrs. Tammy MacKinnon Crosley, our beautiful angel, age 33 years of Thunder Bay, passed away peacefully in St. Joseph‘s Care Group, Hospice Unit, on Sunday, February 24th, 2008. Tammy was born in London, Ontario and moved to Thunder Bay in 1979. She was a graduate of Hillcrest High School and a graduate of the ECE Program at Confederation College. She enjoyed biking, gardening, shopping, camping, and spending time with family and friends. Tammy had a firm belief in natural health and healing. She had a blended family and loved it. Tammy will always be remembered for her love of life, her smiling face and her courage above all else. Tammy lived by her favourite quote, “Be the change that you want to see in the world”. Tammy will be missed with much sorrow and sadness by her husband Mark; children: Jordan, Darcy, James and Ian; her proud parents Steve and Elly MacKinnon; brother Steve Jr. (Sarah, Miranda and Breanna); Grandma Grouch, Grandpa Frank, Grandma Dorothy as well as many other nieces; nephews; friends and relatives. Tammy was predeceased by her Grandmother Joanne DeJonge and her Grandfather John MacKinnon. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 29th, 2008 in the Chapel of Harbourview Funeral Centre, 499 North Cumberland Street, officiated by Rev. He was a labourer for most of his life. CIMEK, Henry - With sadness, the family of Henry Cimek announces his passing at the Welland Hospital on Saturday, February 23, 2008 at the age of 89. His giving ways have touched so many lives and his loving spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. Beloved husband of Mary (nee Domitrek) for over 65 years. He was predeceased by his daughter Donna (1982), sisters Julia Kozlowski and Millie Murawski, and his brother Chester Cimek. Mr. Cimek was a tool and die maker by trade. He was employed with Reliance Electric and later with General Motors, where he provided 20 years of service until his retirement. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, St. Francis of Assissi Council 2146 since June of 1956. His longstanding service with the Knights earned him an Honourary Life Membership.
