BUTLER (Lundrigan), Florence Elizabeth BUTLER (Lundrigan), Florence Elizabeth - It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Florence in the Windsor Elms, Windsor, on February 23, 2008. Born in Dartmouth on May 5, 1917, she was the daughter of William and Irene (Shrum) Lundrigan. She was a survivor of the Halifax Explosion. She is survived by her son, Robert (Margret) Butler, Medicine Hat, Alta.; daughter, Barbara (Peter) Munt, Dartmouth; grandchildren, Michael and Stephan Butler, and Geoff, Michelle and Jason Munt; five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her brother, Ken Lundrigan, and was predeceased by her husband, Harvey, and her two brothers and two sisters. Flo was a dedicated member of the Dartmouth General Hospital Auxiliary for 26 years; a faithful and hardworking member of her church for over 50 years. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend who was loved and cherished very much. The family would like to mention the wonderful staff at the Windsor Elms who made Mom's last year so happy. They truly are angels. No visitation by request. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. on Wednesday, February 27, in the Church of the Holy Spirit, Regency Drive, Dartmouth, with Rev. Edwin Ebsary officiating. Lillian M. Gallant 1931-2008 Lillian M. Gallant, of Lockhart Ave., Moncton, born June 22, 1931 in Hartford, Connecticut USA, was called home to God on February 21st, 2008 at the age of 76 following a brief battle with cancer. She was the daughter of the late John and Joseline (LeBlanc) LeBlanc and was predeceased by her husband, Wilfred (1975); one brother, John J. LeBlanc (2004); and by two sisters, Elizabeth "Betty" and Elaine LeBlanc. Lillian will be sadly missed by her sons, Marc (Nadia) of Moncton and Paul of Regina, Saskatchewan; her three grandchildren, Amanda, Jason and Alexander. She was employed with Zeller's Inc. and retired in 1986 after 34 years of service, ultimately achieving the position of store manager. In her younger years, Lillian loved to sing, play the piano and always enjoyed a game of cards. She was a devout and loving wife, mother, grandmother and had many cherished friendships. She inspired and touched many lives and her memory will be forever engraved in our hearts. Heartfelt thanks to all the Staff in the Palliative Care unit at the Moncton Hospital, for they are true angels in the care that they provide. BEAUPRE, Gladys May (Nee Evenden) - Passed away peacefully on February 21, 2008 at St. Catharines General Hospital after a brief illness, almost one month short of her 90th birthday. MARACLE, Richard Allan (Dick) - Passed away in Winnipeg, February 19, 2008 in his 64th year. Survived by Virginia; daughters Judy, Karen (Rick), Charlotte and Alice. Much loved grandpa of Leslie, Patrick, Keesha, Riley and Shayla. Dear brother of Bea, Wanda and Ken and lovingly remembered by many cousins, nieces and nephews. Born in St. Catharines he was educated at Edith Cavell Public School and Sir Winston Churchill Secondary School. He served with the US Air Force where he received early computer training and then returned to Ontario for further education at Brock University and Fanshawe College. His thirst for knowledge led to a degree in accounting and Bachelor of Arts. In the 70's Richard was involved in the early stages of the Niagara Regional Native Centre, going on to a long career with the federal department of Indian Affairs and Northern Development in both Ottawa and Manitoba. He was also a financial officer of the National Indian Brotherhood (now the Assembly of First Nations). Cremation has taken place. MOORE, Leliah Rose (nee Pysher) - Peacefully at West Lincoln Memorial Hospital, Grimsby on February 22, 2008, one day after her 96th birthday. Beloved wife of the late Gordon Moore (1990). Daughter of the late Herbert and Eva (Evans) Pysher. Sister of the late Etta Donaldson, Lyle Pysher, Bertie Lamothe, Olive Crooks and Addie Clark. Loving mother of Carson (Judy) Moore and Ellis (Eileen) Moore and grandmother to Pam Paolini, Clay, Elwin and Chris Moore. Also survived by six great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. She was a member of the Tintern Church of Christ and the WAVES of Great Lakes Christian College. WALLACE, Lois Irene (nee Peers) 1923 - 2008 Loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend passed away surrounded by her family on Friday, February 22, 2008. She will be deeply missed by her children Susan Lynn (Richard), Maureen (Richard), Jim (Sherry), Donna (Allan); her grandchildren Jamie (Kim), Ryan (Nicole), Sandra (Drew), Jeremy (Karolina), Todd, Steven and Karen and four great-grandchildren. She also leaves to mourn, her sisters-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews. Lois was predeceased by her husband Alexander in 1977, her granddaughter Lisa, her parents Lester and Susan and her siblings. Lois was born in Empress, Alberta on August 20, 1923. She was compassionate and caring and able to find joy in the simple things in life. She dedicated her married life to her husband and her four children. She was extremely organized and during the years when her children were growing up, the morning ritual was to get Al off to work, the kids off to school, wash the kitchen floor and make dessert. She put many miles on the family car in the wee hours of the morning shuttling everyone to and from the Winter Club. Lois loved decorating the house and painting and repainting cupboards. She was an avid baseball fan and very talented artist and loved to watch Canadian Idol. Lois' greatest joys came from sharing a good meal with friends and family, a drive into the Calgary Foothills and being close to nature. Her sense of humor and strong will helped carry Lois through the health struggles in her later years. The family will be holding a private Burial Service. MULLEN , Richard Paul “Rick“ (Owner of Mullen's Repair and Maintenance) - It is with great sorrow that the family of Rick Mullen announce his passing at home on Friday, February 22, 2008. While surrounded by his loving and devoted family, Rick Mullen, age 50 completed his one last job before heading to heaven to build a mansion for his family. Rick's struggle with cancer lasted six weeks, during this time he fought this battle in the same valiant way that he lived each day. During his recent illness, Rick demonstrated great courage and was able to keep that great sense of humour while visiting with family, friends and customers. He always welcomed you with a firm handshake and a friendly, kind word. Rick was gone to meet his parents, William and Betty Mullen at Heaven's Gate. He leaves behind to miss him, his loving wife Jeanette (nee Bunn) and his four proud children, Ellie Ellsworth, Tabitha Buker (Kevin Buchan), Richard (Fioni Cheung) and Mandy. Adored grandfather of Morgan & McKenzie Kimber. POFFENROTH, Walter May 5, 1920 - February 20, 2008 Walter Poffenroth passed away at the Peter Lougheed Hospital at the age of 87 years. He will be deeply missed by his wife of sixty-three years, Connie (Evans) Poffenroth, son Bob and his wife Linda, daughter Brenda Mah and her husband Pat, grandchildren Kim Grover (husband Craig), Natalie and Brent Mah and great-grandchildren Kylie, Jaydon and Mackenzie Grover. Walter was a native Calgarian who grew up in the Bridgeland area as the youngest of five children. It was there that he met the love of his life when they were in their early teens. He was predeceased by brother Henry and sisters Freda, Katy, Amelia and his grandson Dean Poffenroth. Upon completing high school at Western Canada High, Walter joined the Royal Canadian Air Force where after a year as a firefighter he received a medical discharge. He then joined the CPR where he was employed as a switchman for thirty-eight years before retiring in 1980. Following retirement he spent ten enjoyable summers working as a member of the greens crew at the Elks Golf Club. As a youngster he was actively involved in all sports. He excelled at soccer which he played at the top amateur levels until the age of thirty-six. Poffy, as he was called by all who knew him, left his mark on the Calgary community. Once described as "youngster's best friend" in a 1959 article by longtime Calgary journalist Dunc Scott, he positively impacted the lives of hundreds of young men during twenty-five committed years coaching minor hockey in the city. He coached at all levels from tiny mite to Junior where he ended his coaching days with the Calgary Junior A Buffaloes. Many of those years he somehow managed to coach more than one team concurrently while maintaining full-time employment. Under his direction, his teams won many city and provincial championships. Those who were fortunate enough to know Walter will always remember his feisty demeanor and incredible sense of humor. We will cherish the memories of this amazing character. Wayne is the son of Thelma and the late Walter Thomas of Bells Corners. He is the devoted husband of Daphne, his soul-mate for 39 years of marriage. A loving father and mentor to daughter Kim of Ottawa and son Gordon (Loretta) of Cornwall. Proud grandfather of grand-daughter Makenna. Wayne loved God's people and God's creation. Ordained a priest in 1976, he served in Ministry with God's people in the Anglican Diocese of Ottawa. Prior to Ordination he served in The Anglican Church Army as Social Worker and Chaplain to the Mission to Seaman. During his battle with cancer, Wayne was supported by many people in his extended Christian family. To them, we say thank-you for your love, prayers and practical support. Born in East Jordan, Shelburne Co., she was a daughter of the late Florence Hartley. She was employed at Zeller's and other retail stores for many years. She will be remembered as the helpful, smiling lady at Zeller's who collected money for the Cystic Fibrosis Moonwalk Program. In total, she raised over $100,000.00. She also received an award from Mila Mulroney for her charity work for this cause. She sold AVON products and was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Royal Canadian Legion, Kings Branch No. 6, Kentville. She is survived by daughter, Margaret "Peggy" Karamitsos, Kentville; sons, Raymond (Ida), Three Mile Plains, and Irvin (Linda), Montreal; grandchildren, Deanna (Gary) Simmonds, Rayvonne (Steven) Carrington, Maria (Michael) Karamitsos-Moody, Danielle (Richard) Simmons, Irvin Jr. (Sharon), Raymond Jr. (Jennifer), Thane (Tammy); 17 great-grandchildren; one great great-granddaughter; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by aunt, Annie Acker; uncles, Leander Hartley, Jake Hartley, Leeman Hartley and Robert Hartley. Cremation has taken place. Frances Savoie COVEDELL, NB - At the Mount St-Joseph Nursing Home in Miramichi passed away on Friday, February 22, 2008 at the age of 86, Mrs. Frances Savoie from Mount St-Joseph Nursing Home in Miramichi formerly of Covedell, wife of the late Celestin Savoie. She was the daughter of the late Frank Kenny and the late Marie-Louise Allain. She is survived by her daughter, Doris-Ann; three son, Robert (Lorraine Scott), Ronald (Norma Breau), Roger (Edna Harding); five grandchildren, Natalie, Celeste, Jasmine, Jeremy, Eric; one sister, Emma (late James Grattan).
