LA FAMILLE POULIN a le regret de vous annoncer le décès de MADAME THÉRÈSE ROY (née Poulin) Nous a quittés paisiblement au CSSS (Pavillon de Hull) le 30 janvier 2008, à l'âge de 74 ans. Elle travailla à la Défense nationale pendant 27 ans. Elle était l'épouse de Jean-Louis Roy et fille de feu Joseph Poulin et de feu Amanda Delangis. Outre son époux, elle laisse trois soeurs et un frère: Patricia (feu Fernand Lesage), Marie (Émile Roy), Lucille (Henri Lefort) et Robert (feu Réjane Séguin); sa filleule Sylvie Gingras; un beau-frère, Jean-Charles Roy et sa fille Marie-Josée ainsi que plusieurs neveux, nièces, parents et ami(e)s. Prédécédée par deux frères: Roger (Irène Kelly) et Gérald (Fabiola Lalonde). Le service a eu lieu à la Coopérative Funéraire de l'Outaouais, 95, boul. Cité-des-Jeunes à Gatineau le 2 février 2008, suivi de l'inhumation au cimetière Notre-Dame dans le lot familial. Les funérailles privées ont eu lieu dans l'intimité familiale selon les volontés de la défunte. Il y a des personnes qui passent et qui nous touchent par des paroles et des gestes et laissent une marque. Thérèse était de celles-là. Notre chère Thérèse demeurera pour toujours dans nos coeurs et dans nos esprits, une femme aimante et généreuse. Son départ laissera un grand vide. BETZNER, Helen Beatrice Passed away peacefully to her new home in Heaven on February 6, 2008, at St. Joseph's Hospital, Hamilton, at the age of 92, following a brief illness. She was born in Guelph on August 9, 1915. Lovingly remembered by her son Barry Royal Betzner of Hamilton. Predeceased by her parents Harvey and Adelaide Stauffer, her husband Royal Betzner, her sisters Irene Stauffer and Alda Stauffer, and her brother Gordon Stauffer and his wife Mabel. While living in Ottawa she was a member of the choir of Central Alliance Church (formerly Gospel Tabernacle) and Bethel Pentecostal Church. The funeral will be held on Sunday, February 17, 2008 at 3PM at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick St., Kitchener. FARRELL, William Lionel Douglas Lt. Cdr. RCN (retired) W.L.D. (Wild) Bill Farrell. b. May 28, 1925, d. February 07, 2008. Son of Catherine (Kit) Ann McCaffrey and Francis (Bub, Bob) Michael Farrell. Predeceased by wife Trudy (Marshall). Survived by five children: Doug (Cheryl), Susan (John), Billy, Bobby (Sharon), Glenda (Jim), eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild (all in the Maritimes). Siblings Frank (Doris), Dan, Marcella, Helen (Howe - deceased). Numerous nephews, nieces and a few cousins reside in Ottawa and environs. Bill attended several Ottawa schools: St. Brigid's, Lisgar, Ottawa Tech and Ottawa U. before enlisting in the RCN. One of Canada's more colourful aviators, Bill trained on Fairey Barracuda, and Fairey Swordfish biplanes in Scotland at the end of WWII before being posted to Canada's first aircraft carrier, HMCS Warrior, from which he flew in Fairey Firefly fighter-bombers. He flew, also, from Canada's second carrier, HMCS Magnificent. Later, Bill served aboard the destroyer Iroquois during the Korean war. Bill took early retirement from the Navy. After a brief stint as administrator first at Moirs and then at the local hospital, Bill returned to his first love, aviation. Bill flew light twins for several years from Kelly Lake airport on duties that included ambulance flights and beach landings on Sable Island. Later, he flew Beaver aircraft into remote strips of Labrador and Newfoundland. When that company folded Bill resumed work as an instructor at the Shearwater Flying Club. He took part in the annual Spruce Budworm spraying operations in New Brunswick flying Grumman Avenger aircraft until an engine failure caused him to crash into the bush demolishing all of the aircraft, except for a small portion of the aircraft surrounding the cockpit from which he emerged unscathed. Bill was an ardent advocate for naval aviation as editor for the Shearwater Aviation Museum's periodical. Bill also spearheaded a battle to preserve Shearwater airport. A proud Canadian and a true patriot, Bill spent his final years attempting to persuade government authorities to re-equip our navy with a carrier-based task force to take part in UN and NATO operations. As well, Bill lent his talented pen in defence of national and international issues: in his last days he took on the cause of Omar Kadr. Bill, Wild and Wonderful! Now with the Angels and the Saints, teasing and punning and engaging them in heavenly (and possibly outrageous) adventures. He led, he taught, he supported, he comforted. McCASKILL, VIOLA S. - Viola S. McCaskill of Lakewood passed away peacefully at home, with family by her side, on Thursday, February 14, 2008. She was born on Christmas Day, 1911 in Gould, QC to the late Gordon F. and Annie (Shannon) McCaskill. Viola was a draftswoman for the Canadian Army and was a veteran of WWII. She worked for Otis Elevator as a stenographer for many years, retiring in 1976. Viola was a member of Stella Maris Catholic Church and an auxiliary member of the Legion Of Mary. She is survived by her sister, Florence McCaffrey of Saint John; special nephew, Bobby Clarke of St. Stephen; several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Besides her parents, Viola was predeceased by four brothers, Gerald, Joseph, James and Urban McCaskill; five sisters, Marion Clarke, Zita McCaskill, Edna McCaskill, Stella Maris McCaskill and Barbara (Clarke) McPhee. Born at Picket's Cove, Queens County, he was a son of the late William and Isabella (Brown) Campbell. Bill worked as an auto mechanic for nearly 20 years at Saint John Toyota. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, the Fairvale Outing Association, and the Senior's Community Centre in Whitby where he enjoyed playing darts. Theresa Mary Alice Macdonald Macdonald, Theresa Mary Alice, 76. It is with heartfelt sadness the family announces the passing of their beloved mother, grandmother and sister on Thursday, February 14, 2008, at the Moncton Hospital. Born in Springhill, Nova Scotia, on August 28, 1931, Theresa was the daughter of the late Leo and Eva (Bourque) Sears. She was employed with the Moncton Credit Bureau and then Equifax Canada until her retirement. Theresa will be remembered by friends and family as an extremely dedicated volunteer at the Beaver Curling Club and as the Secretary/Treasurer of the Monctonian Curling Bonspiel for over thirty years. She was an even more dedicated and loving Nanny to her two granddaughters Kim and Taylor. She attended Holy Family Catholic Church, in the West End of Moncton. She is survived by her son, Gordon, Moncton; daughter Faith (Tim) Houck, Halifax; granddaughters, Kim and Taylor Houck; and brother, William (Bill) Sears, Moncton. She is survived by two sons, Dale Pike (Darlene) and James Pike (Bernadette), both of Temperance Vale; a daughter-in-law, Sheila Gray, Temperance Vale; five grandchildren, Angela Wright, Lydia Thornton (Troy), Christa LaKing (Nic), Tammy Pike (Adam) and Daniel Pike; nine great grandchildren, Zach, Deidre, Makaila, Evan, Mallory, Brandon, Kori, Orlando and Brianna; a brother, Stanley Turner (Hilda), East Newbridge; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mildred was predeceased by her husband, James E. Born in Saint John on January 14, 1918, she was a daughter of the late William and Annie (Bannister) Maher. Hilda had been employed with Dominion Stores, Sears Ltd. and retired from NBLC. MANOOGIAN, George (Mooner) - On Thursday, February 14th, 2008. George Manoogian was 81 years of age, great husband of Bonnie, loving father of the late Craig. Mooner was the loved brother of Archie, the late Rose Bedrosian, the late Doris Manaserian, and several nieces and nephews and grand nieces and grand nephews. Mooner was a long time member of the St. Catharines Rowing Club, former member of Ridley Graduate Boat Club. George was the team manager for several Olympic, Pan American, British Empire Games and World Championship Rowing Crews, a member of Rowing Canada Aviron, St. Catharines Rowing Alumni Association, Canadian Henley Rowing Corporation. George loved collecting, trading and designing Rowing and Olympic pins and was known around the world as “THE PIN MAN“, and was very active as a supervisor with the John Howard Society, a member of a couple of Local Masonic Lodges. Mooner was an avid skier and an accomplished roller skater in his youth at Alexander Hall on Ontario Street. FORESTELL, NATALIE GERALDINE (STARK) - Passed away on Tuesday, February 5, 2008, born on October 24, 1921 in Iroquois Falls, Ontario, she was the daughter of the late David and Bessie (Gray) Stark. Natalie was a former member of the Fundy Chapter IODE and was employed at the DVA Hospital as a Health Record Administrator, before her retirement. She is survived by her two brothers, Gerald Stark, of Niagara on the lake, Ontario and David (Sandra) Stark, of Burlington, Ontario; as well as several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Raymond Albert Paul Forestell; sister-in-law, Lois Stark and her beloved cat, Frankie. By Natalie's request there will be no visitation. A graveside service will be held at Fernhill Cemetery on Saturday, February 16, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. Donations, in memory of Natalie, may be made to the Animal Rescue League or a charity of the donor's choice. FALCIONI, Larry James - It is with great sadness that the family of Larry Falcioni announce his death on 15 February 2008 in his 57th year surrounded by family at his home in Crystal Beach, after a courageous battle with cancer and Gillian Barre Syndrome. Beloved wife of Linda Falcioni (Amann) and devoted father of Kelly (Paul) Cirasolo of Fort Erie, Kevin (Jennifer) Falcioni of Fort Erie and Kara (Kevin) Spear of Fort Erie. Son of Elmo Falcioni born in Pesaro Italy (1914) (Port Colborne) and brother of Edward (Carol) of Port Colborne. Son in Law of Kenneth and Joan Amann of Amherst N.Y. Brother in Law of Sherri Falcioni (Fonthill), Nancy (Dave) Stover and Cindy (Kevin) Hagen. Grandfather of Ty, Mya, Dallin, Kyle, Isaac, Mathew, Paige, Drew and Kaylin. Much loved and respected uncle and great uncle of several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his mother Mary Falcioni, born in Valvasone Italy 1920-1996, brother Daniel Falcioni (1999) and nephew David Falcioni (2006). Larry Falcioni was diagnosed in 1988 with Guillian Barre Syndrome which confined him to a wheelchair. Larry was active in real estate which he owned his own company and was employed at General Tire in Welland prior to the Syndrome. Friends may call at THE WILLIAMS FUNERAL HOME 722 Ridge Road North, Ridgeway from 12 noon until 2 o'clock Monday afternoon. Funeral services in the chapel Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock.
