KERR, Myron W. Myron W. Kerr of Edmonton, AB passed away on February 4, 2008 at the age of 88 years. He leaves to mourn his loss his loving wife of sixty-two years, Kathleen; sons, Robert (Donna) of Edmonton, Grant (Sandra) of Regina and Colin (Susan) of Edmonton; eight grandchildren, Shauna, Joel (Ewa), Rachelle, Carla (Drew), Abigail (Kelly), Theodore, Adam and Lindsay and numerous friends and relatives. DR. BERYL OLABISI TAYLOR-LEWIS (nee FRASER) March 4, 1933 - January 26, 2008 "Unforgettable" Dr. Beryl Olabisi Taylor-Lewis was born in Freetown, Sierra Leone, South Africa on March 4, 1933 and passed away on January 26, 2008 in Burnaby, BC surrounded by her loving family. Beloved "Mum" to: Tanya (Polycarp), Steven (Musu) and Harold. Cherished Grammy to: Lydia, Sarah and Samuel; Tunji, Adeyemi, Adesemi, and Adebisi. Beloved Sister to: Itunumi (Marionette), Aba, Solanke (Phoebe [R.I.P.]), Oladepipo (Annie). Predeceased by: Parents; Alexander (94yrs) and Ayotunde (93yrs) and daughter, Serah (2 1/2 yrs). Bisi's presence in the lives of her family, relatives, friends around the world and colleagues in the medical field will be cherished forever. She is a mentor to so many with her witty sense of humor and a humble being in her own way. She will be greatly missed. She spent her younger years in her hometown - Freetown in Sierra Leone. She then went to England for her medical training from July 1953 to March 1962. She returned to Sierra Leone to practice from July 1962 - July 1965. She traveled to Canada and took her post graduate training in Anesthesia in Montreal from July 1965 - July 1969. She returned to Sierra Leone to practice from 1969-1985. After this she decided to move back to Canada where she established a residence in Saint John, New Brunswick from March 1985 to August 2001. She practiced anesthesia at St. Joseph's Hospital and the Saint John Regional Hospital. She retired in 1998. In August 2001 she made the decision to move to Burnaby, British Columbia, to be closer to her family and grandchildren, where she spent the rest of her happy life. A memorial service in Canada was held on Saturday February 2, 2008 at Burquitlam Funeral Chapel, British Columbia. A memorial service in England will be held on February 9, 2008 at St. Paul's Church in Cheam, Surrey. Internment will be held at a later date at the Murray Town Cemetery in Sierra Leone. She is also survived by her godmother, Cherald (Prillo) Tutt, and best friends, Pauline Campbell and Pam McDonald. Carol was active in Block Parents, and a member of the RCMP, Cole Harbour, and Department of National Defence. McFADDEN, Avery Rae January 23, 1923 - February 6, 2008 Rae McFadden, late of Chinook Drive in Cochrane, Alberta, passed away peacefully in the Bethany Care Centre in Cochrane on February 6, 2008, after a long fight with Alzheimer's disease. Rae was predeceased by his wife Gwen, but is survived by two sons, Tom and John, both of Cochrane; a daughter Arlene, living in Airdrie, and their spouses Elaine, Rose and Terry; and four grandchildren, Ryan, Amy, Michael, and Justin, and their spouses and children. Born into a farm family in Ontario, Rae served as a member of the RCAF throughout World War Two. While attached to a Commonwealth Air Training facility in western Canada he met his (future) wife Gwendolyn Secord, living at that time in Edmonton. They married in Edmonton in 1946 and were married fifty-three years at the time of her death in 1999. Rae's post war career as a meteorologist allowed him and his family to live in the Northwest Territories and Ontario before retiring and moving to Cochrane, Alberta, to be closer to their children who led the way west. Rae dedicated his non-working life to his family and the betterment of his community. He dedicated much of his life's energy to serving the needs of the United Church, including St. Andrew's United in Cochrane, and the Royal Canadian Legion which he served in a wide variety of roles throughout his life. If kids were involved, Rae was as well, and his work with minor hockey, Cubs and Scouts and Legion-sponsored track and field meets, to name a few, impacted in a positive way the lives of countless young people. He was made a Member for Life and was awarded the Royal Canadian Legion's Meritorious Service Award and the Ontario Bi-Centennial Medal for service to his community. Although advanced in years when he and Gwen retired to Cochrane, Rae was an active member of the Cochrane Seniors Club, served as a member of the Board for St. Andrew's United Church, delivered Meals on Wheels, volunteered as a driver for the health district and was an active member of the RCMP's Citizens on Patrol program when he was not busy with his children and grandchildren. His last few years were taken over by Alzheimer's disease and he resided first in the Big Hill Lodge and then the Bethany Care Centre where he received excellent care to his last breath. A Memorial Service will take place in St. Andrew's United Church, Cochrane, Alberta at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 9, 2008. All are welcome and the family would like to extend a special invitation to the staff of the Big Hill Lodge and the Bethany so they can express their appreciation. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made in his name to the Royal Canadian Legion's Poppy Fund which works for the betterment of the lives of military veterans. EVANS, Bruce - Entered into rest peacefully at the Ross Memorial Hospital in Lindsay on Tuesday, February 5, 2008. Bruce Evans, in his 82nd year, was the beloved husband of the late Ula Evans. Loving father of Terry and his wife Lorna of Hamilton and Tom and Barbara of Toronto. Lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Randy, Wayne, Jocelyn, Christian, Andrew and Katie and by his six great-grandchildren. Born in Springhill, he was a son of the late Amos and Flora Belle (McEachern) McNutt. He was a veteran of the Second World War, serving with the Cape Breton Highlanders for four years. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch No. 17, Springhill, and he enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping, ATV's, snowmobiling and family. He is survived by sons, Eric (Carmella Vacon) McNutt and Mark (Angela) McNutt; daughter, Devonna (Harold) Beaton, all of Springhill; brother, Hilton (Doris) McNutt, Springhill; sisters, Helen (Bill Heffernan) Clarke, Springhill; Geraldine McDermott, South Brook, Cumberland Co.; grandchildren, Tammy, Deanna, Megan, Amy, and Mathieu; great-grandsons, James and Devon; several nieces and nephews. Myrtle was born in Maple Ridge, Millville on March 7, 1920 and was the daughter of the late Edward and Mabel Sharpe. She was one of twelve children. She was born in a log cabin along with her twin sister, Mildred. She was predeceased by two husbands, Kenneth Sharp and Wilford Elliott. She is survived by children; Anne Day (Alan), Robert Sharp (Kim) Kathy Lyons (Rob), Debby Elliott, Judy Power, Brenda Fillmore (David), Susan Doyle (Bernie), Cathy Rourke (Dale) , many grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces and nephews as well as two brothers, Eugene and Arnold and one sister, Willa. Myrtle Worked for 36 years at the Admiral Beatty Hotel. She was a member of the Nerepis Baptist Church; as well as a member of the Wednesday Morning Bowling League in Grand Bay; was an avid cribbage player and spent the last twenty or more summers at T & T Campground, Cole's Island enjoying her friends and activities. SCHARF, Edward Clinton Edward Clinton Scharf of Metcalfe, died peacefully at home on February 5, 2008. He was a wonderful man and will be sorely missed by his wife of 60 years, Peggy (Gilliland) and his four children, Sandra (Bob) Weagant, Ken, George (Anastasia) and Darlene. He was a terrific role model and friend to his grandchildren Stacey, Wendy, Leslie (Andrew), Paula, Johnathon and Agatha. Eddie was accomplished at many things including step dancing and reciting untold stories, poems and jokes, many going back to his public school days. He farmed on the 8th line since 1943 and despite his 88 years still made it to the barn twice a day. Eddie was pre-deceased by his 12 brothers and sisters. He was the youngest child of the late Robert and Amelia Scharf of Edwards. The family would like to thank Dr. Adamson and all the friends and neighbours who gathered on Tuesday. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at the Daley Family Funeral Home, 6971 Bank Street, (between Scrivens Drive and Metcalfe Corner) from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Friday and Saturday from 11-11:45 am. She will be sadly missed by her children, Tremaine (Lynn), Langley, B.C.; Marlane (Ken) Mann, Edmonton, Alta.; Jennifer, Campbell River, B.C.; sister, Elsie, Fox Point; Kelly-Lyn (Gethin) Evans, Jeffrey (Becky) and Ashlee, all of Langley, B.C., will miss sharing Gramma's laughter. Kate was predeceased by Bernard "Bunny", her husband of 60 years; brothers, Josiah and James, and sisters, Vernie and Letha. Born in Blandford, Kate served in the Canadian Women's Army Corps (1943-1945) and was a 50-year member of the Royal Canadian Legion. She will be remembered most for her wit and ready smile by all those who entered her home to test the latest recipe. A heartfelt thank you to the dedicated VIHA caregivers and the special people Mom met at The Gardens in Qualicum Beach, B.C. BABINEAU, Edgar Ivan "Ed" BABINEAU, Edgar Ivan "Ed" - Antigonish, passed away after brave battle with cancer on Tuesday, February 5, 2008, at the age of 77 years. Born in Shediac, N.B. he was a son of the elate Henri and Ann (Legere) Babineau. He was a resident of Springhill for many years. Retired employee of CN in the road freight transportation business between Moncton and Sydney for many years. Ed has been a resident of J. J. Carroll Seniors Complex in Antigonish for the last several years where he was highly regarded by his neighbours. Surviving are his friend, love of his life, former wife, Elise Babineau Richard; son, Troy, Calgary; daughters, Debbie (Gordie) Gillis, Antigonish; Donah (Paul), Vancouver, B.C.; Kelly (Michael) St. Pierre, Halifax; sisters, Lorraine, Glenholme; Nola, Halifax; several nieces and nephews. He was also survived by his very special grandchildren, Nicole and Jacqueline Gillis, and their pet, Greta. He was predeceased by brother and sisters, Edmund, Augusta and Bernedette. Margie was sweetheart to Phil; mom to Mike, Darren, Connie, and Steve; grammie to Emily, Meaghan, Mark, Cody, Ryan, Libby, and Connor; she was sister to David; mother-in-law to Chrissy, Kim, Alicia, and Mike; and best friend to Fronz. MacDONALD, Charles "Wayde" MacDONALD, Charles "Wayde" - 41, Maryvale, Antigonish Co., passed away February 4, 2008, at home. He was a son of Hugh Angus (Shirlee) and the late Anna Marie (Frosst) MacDonald. Wayde, known by most as Gopher, loved the outdoors and especially enjoyed four wheeling, skidooing, and plowing! Anyone who knew Wayde knew he was always up for a tour! He played a great game of darts, enjoyed scuba diving, and was a jack-of-all-trades. Wayde worked in the fishing industry for many years and will be remembered by all at the wharves where he had worked. He was also a member of the Four Valley's Fire Department. Wayde was a friend to all and was always ready to lend a helping hand. He is survived by his wife, Sonya (MacGillivray); children, Nicole, Zackery and Ruth Anne, all at home; brothers, Michael (Susan) and Allan, Mississauga; sisters, Mary Jo (Blaine Jessome), Lower South River; Louise, Antigonish; Juanita (Daniel MacGillivray), Morristown; numerous nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles.
