OBITUARY PAULO FILIPE MIRANDA 1961-2008 Suddenly and without warning, Paulo passed away on Monday, February 4, 2008 in Montreal. Paulo will be forever missed by his wife Delila and his daughter Sabrina. Son of Jose (deceased) and Maria Ilda Miranda, brother of Francisco (Kezia), Pedro (Carine), Fernando and Margaret. MITCHELL, Mildred Muriel (a.k.a Hilton). Mildred passed away peacefully in Verdun Hospital on January 29, 2008. She was seventy-seven years old. The family would like to thank all those who helped Mildred through her life, particularly Real Morel Nursing Home, where she last resided. J. Guillaume "Willie" Bourque 1929 - 2008 J. Guillaume "Willie" Bourque, 78, of Providence St., Shediac passed away suddenly on Wednesday, February 6, 2008 at the Dr. Georges-L. Dumont Hospital, Moncton. Born June 24, 1929 in Grande-Digue, he was the son of the late Arthur and Régina (Goguen) Bourque. He was Veteran during the Korean War . Mr. Bourque retired in 1984 after 32 years of service with the Department of National Defense in Downsview, Ontario. He was a member of the Shediac Golden Age Club. He is survived by his common law wife, Norma Belliveau, five sisters: Rita Bourque, Florence Bourque (Néri), Yolande Richard (Léo) and Bernadette Bourque all of Grande-Digue, Sylvia Doiron of Acadieville; two brothers: Réginald (Rita) and Henri (Yvette) both of Grande-Digue; and by several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his 1st wife Bertha (Melanson) Bourque, and by one sister, Georgina Butt. As per Willie's request, there will be no visitation. PHILLIPS, BARBARA (STRICKLAND) - It is with sadness the family announce the passing of Barbara Phillips, age 86, a resident of Union Street, North Sydney on Tuesday February 5th, 2008, at the Northside General Hospital. Born in North Sydney, she was the daughter of the late George W. and Martha Ellen (Rogers) Strickland and she was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Barb had a varied nursing career, she lived and worked in various provinces across Canada and also in Europe. She went back to university and graduated with a Bachelor of Nursing degree in 1970, and then a Masters of Education in 1979 from the University of New Brunswick. She then taught nursing in Saint John, N.B. until her retirement. Barb's love of travel took her all over the world, but she loved the time she spent at her summer home in New Haven, Victoria County, where she was renown for hosting her tea socials. She was a member of St. Matthew Wesley United Church, North Sydney. She is survived by a sister-in-law, Vera Strickland; a nephew, Ralph Strickland and a niece Mary Capstick; also by a number of cousins. She was predeceased by her husband, George Lantz Phillips; her brothers, George William (Fox), Ralph, Jack and Gordon. There will be no visitation by request. A funeral service for Barb will be held on 11:00 a.m. Friday in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney with Rev. David Luker officiating. PALMER, MARY ELIZABETH (LIBBY) - The unexpected death of Libby Palmer occurred at her home on Gault Road on February 4, 2008. Libby was born in Saint John, NB and she was the daughter of Jessie (Symes) and the late Frederick Power. Libby enjoyed gardening and spent many long hours taking care of her many gardens with her son, Matt. Survived by her four sons, Michael Palmer (Eileen) of Grandbay-Westfield, Daniel Palmer (Debbie) of Hampton, Tim Palmer (Missy) and Matthew both of Saint John, West; three daughters, Karen MacVicar (Neil), Kathy Robertson (John), Sue Palmer (Bill) all of Saint John, West; two brothers, Jim Power of Thunder Bay, ON, Joe Power of Hamilton, ON; three sisters, Lois Shillington (Tom) of Salisbury, NB, Kay Sheldric (Doug) of Saint John, Connie Power of Hamilton, ON; seven grandchildren, Erin, Haley, Hannah, Floyd, Julia, Stephen and Amanda; three great grandchildren, Sammy, Dominick and Sophia; as well as several nieces and nephews. BRADSHAW, (HATFIELD) MARY CHRISTINE "CHRIS" NEE. CRAIG - Her death occurred on February 5, 2008 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital, Fredericton, NB. Christine was a graduate of Mount Carmel Academy, Saint John, NB. She worked as a secretary in her early years and spent many years at home raising her family before the death of her first husband, Joseph Hatfield. She returned to work in the judicial system. Her last position was in the RCMP, J Division for 10 years, from which she retired in 1999. Christine was predeceased by her mother, Geneva (Grant) Craig; father, Byron Craig; brother, Daniel Craig and first husband, Joseph Hatfield. She is survived by Keith Bradshaw, her husband of 30 years; daughters, Beth Barton (Derrek) and their daughter, Karley; Sue Hatfield (John MacKinnon) and her sons, Adam and Joshua Barrett; Alana Harris (Brian) and their sons Kyle, Aaron and Nicholas Harris; her son, Nick Hatfield (Natalie) and son, Alex; step-children, Dustin and Bradley Pond, Jennifer DeWolfe (Scott) and their children, David and Emily; one brother, Patrick Craig (Patsy) and their children, Elizabeth, Liam, Kevin and Ellen Craig; granddaughter, Sara Craig; a very special aunt, Laura Craig of Scarborough, ON and two sisters-in-law. CORBETT, Timothy Michael - “I will arise and go now and go to Innisfree“ Tim has arisen and his irrepressible spirit is winging its way back to Ireland, his birthplace. Tim had a long, productive life and a mercifully short illness. He died peacefully on Wednesday, February 06, 2008, in his 87th year. Tim, the cherished husband of Rita for 64 years. Adored father of Victoria and her spouse Fred Birket. Honorary Grandfather of Paul and Susan. Always fascinated by Sean, Nathan, Liam and Adam. Predeceased by his brothers, he is survived by his sisters, Patricia, Margaret, Jane and Theresa. Loved by many nieces and nephews. Tim was a veteran of World War Two serving with the RAF between 1937 and 1947. He is the last surviving Boy Apprentice Photographer. A man of words, literature and poetry. He studied the stars, science, history, and politics. He developed beautiful gardens and was a creative cook. In his later years he adopted Tai Chi and played many games of Scrabble! Many, many thanks to the medical and nursing staff at P.R.H.C. and Palliative Care. Cremation has taken place. Melina was the deeply loved mother of Melina Wettergreen-Law, of Courtright, On and William (Donna) Yukish, of Carson City, Nv. “Bubba' to her grandchildren, she will be sadly missed by granddaughters Ann (James) Lee, Amy Yulish, and Sara Yukish of Nv, grandson Tepa (Carole) Wettergreen, of Sarnia and step-grandson A.J. (Hillary) Ternau, of Nv. Bubba is also survived by four great granddaughters, Ashelyn Lee, Autumn Cuellar, Corinne Terneau and Adelia Wettergreen. Also survived by special niece Marietta (Joey) Zammit, of Mooretown, On. Melina was predeceased by granddaughter Sera Wettergreen, son-in- law Llyod Law, parents Melina and John Little and sisters Mabel Hoskin and Marietta Brown. Cremation has taken place. RUTHERFORD, Muriel (Joynt) - On Wednesday February 6, 2008 Muriel passed away peacefully at her home in Chippawa at the age of 91. She was predeceased by her loving husband George (1975). She will be sadly missed by her daughter Marla Merritt (Chuck) and her son Robert (Jane). Fondly remembered by her four grandchildren, Amy Marshall (Paul), John Merritt, Sara Rutherford (Tom Yurich) and Anne Rutherford and was the proud great- grandmother of Leah and Andrew Marshall. Muriel was a long-time member of Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Chippawa, she was an avid bridge player and over the years was a very active volunteer in the community.
