HOORELBECK, Gordon E. - A resident of Port Lambton, Gordon Ernest Hoorelbeck, age 64, died at the Chatham Kent Health Alliance-Sydenham Campus, on January 26, 2008, surrounded by his loving family. Gordon was born August 10, 1943 in Leamington, ON, and is the son of Marie (Jones) & the late Joseph Hoorelbeck (1982). Gordon served 32 years as a fireman with the Chatham-Kent Fire Department, having retired as Captain in 1999. He also owned and operated a successful lawn care business, Bobby Lawn Care, for many years. Gordon loved life, reading, enjoyed boating, vacationing in Florida, and being with his family. He is survived by his beloved wife of 46 years Janet (Stewart) Hoorelbeck, his daughters Joanne Lindsay & her husband Mark, Doreen Woods & her husband Blake, and his son Mark Hoorelbeck & his wife Jaqueline. He will be missed by 9 grandchildren: Emily, Rachel, Sarah, Joshua, Colin, Tanner, Janet, Stephanie and Michael, all of Chatham. Gordon is also survived by his brother Don Hoorelbeck (June) of Wallaceburg, brother in-law Lyle Stewart (Marilyn), sisters in-law Carolyn Morden (Gerald), Lorna Giffin (Lyle), and Ardythe Henderson (Don). He will be lovingly remembered by many nieces and nephews. LAIER, Brenda (Chapman) - Was known by all as the most generous and loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter and friend, passed away in the presence and love of her family and friends on Sunday morning at 11:30. Brenda was born 63 years ago in Toronto to her mother Lorna (Russell) Chapman of Chatham and her father the late Stanley Chapman (1976). She is survived by her loving husband Bill Laier and together, he and Brenda were in their 35'th year of marriage. A marriage that became even stronger as Bill supported Brenda's courageous two and half year battle with cancer. Brenda will be sadly missed by her children Michelle Hare of Blenheim, Kevin Laier of Dorchester, Lori Reed (Dale) of Calgary, Lisa Engelage (Jim) of British Columbia and Dan Laier of Merlin. Grandmother will be missed by nine grandchildren Jason, Scott, Tina, Nicole, Danielle, John, Duncan, Natalie, Jennifer. Brenda was also a special niece to Leona and Mel Henry of Dundalk, and she was the proud Auntie of Jeff Chapman, Shelby Gilbert (Pete) and Paul Chapman. She is predeceased by her brother Don Chapman (1996). Brenda had a generous heart and gave freely of her time to the Blenheim United Church U.C.W., Randolph Churchill Chapter IODE, Meals on Wheels and in keeping with her playful spirit, she was also a member of the Red Hat Society, “Classie Lassie” Chapter. Brenda always enjoyed her time living out by St. Clair Bush. From her backyard she could always watch the birds feed and the rabbits play. She always had a great love for animals and was known for bringing in any stray cat or dog that needed a warm and loving home. Family records indicate that at one point in time, there were seven cats and two dogs that made Brenda's home their home too. Bill and the family would like to invite friends to attend visitation at the funeral home, 60 Stanley Street, Blenheim on Tuesday January 29, 2008, from 2:00-4:00 & 7:00- 9:00 pm. A Funeral Service celebrating Brenda's life will be held from the Blenheim United Church, on Wednesday January 30, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. Officiating will be Rev. COLLINS, Michael J. - January 27th 2008 in his 90th year, at Royal Victoria Hospital, Barrie. Survived by Mary, his loving wife of sixty-three years and their children Michael (Linda), Kathy, Tom (Rasa), and Brian (Louise). Also survived by grandchildren Ian (Christine), Anna, Jason (Kim), Amy (Jeff) and Shauna, and great-grandchildren Monty, Kylie and Kyle. Born in Dublin in 1918, coming to Canada as a ten-year old, Mike became a farmer in Vespra Township near Barrie. He served in the Grey & Simcoe County Foresters and then joined the RCAF in World War II. After the war, he worked at Camp Borden, Ontario and Toronto International Airport. Mike was a writer and avid historian all his life, publishing numerous magazine articles, fiction pieces and a collection of rural stories called Side Roads & Rail Fences. He was a member of the Canadian Authors Association and the Laubach Literacy organization. In retirement Mike continued to write, travel, and garden. He also obtained a university degree from York and served as a director of the Gryphon Theatre Society and president of the Georgian Bay Credit Union, both of Barrie. A member of St. Mary's Parish in Barrie, Mike will be sorely missed by his friends and family. Friends may call at the STECKLEY- GOODERHAM FUNERAL HOME (Clapperton and Worsley St.), Barrie on Monday 7-9 pm and Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Parish prayers will be held on Tuesday evening at 8:45 pm. PETER, Lois Mary R.N. - Passed away at St. Catharines General Hospital on January 26, 2008 in her 92nd year. She is survived by her husband Gordon, her daughter Susan and her husband Kevin McCabe, two grandchildren Julie and Cathy, her brother Donald and his wife Helen Crawford, their children Fred, Shelley, Tom and Robert and their children. Lois is a graduate of Mack School of Nursing. She worked at the General Hospital for several years, then at Lightning Fastner till they closed. Later she worked at Thompson Products for many years. She will be missed by her family and friends. Cremation has taken place. Mrs. Peter is at the NIAGARA ST. LATHAM, Rev. John Alfred - of Blenheim and formally of Blenheim passed away at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, Chatham Campus on Saturday January 26, 2008. John was born 71 years ago in St. Thomas to his parents Elsie (Grundy) and Harry Latham, both predeceased. Surviving is his wife of 32 years Marjorie “Marnie“ (Target) Latham. Also surviving are their two children Donna Latham and Timothy Latham. John started his ministry by being made deacon in 1978 and was then appointed Deacon in charge of Parkhill and Ailsa Craig and Brinsley June 1, 1978. John was ordained to the priesthood in February of 1979. In 1982 he was named rector of Blenheim's Trinity Anglican Church, Grace Anglican in Rondeau, and St. Paul's Anglican in Erieau. He was the Regional Dean of Kent in 1983 and rector of St. John's in Sarnia in 1988. John retired from active ministry in 2001. According to John's wishes, cremation has taken place and a service celebrating his life will be held on Monday February 4, 2008 at Trinity Anglican Church, Blenheim at 11:00 a.m. Officiating will be Rev. David Fuller of Trinity Anglican Church. The Right Reverend Bruce Howe, Bishop of Huron, will celebrate Holy Communion. MINNIS, Muriel Joy Eleanor (Haufschild), of Vineland, aged 78, passed away peacefully on December 20, 2007 at Albright Manor, Beamsville after a long illness. Muriel was the loving wife of John for 54 years, dear mother of John and his wife Linda (Huntsville), Susan and her husband Mark Andersen (Enterprise), and loving grandmother of Katie Minnis. Muriel was the beloved sister of Beryl Campbell (Frank) of Meaford, and Ann Zabal and Mary Houston (William) of Niagara Falls. Muriel was predeceased by her parents Amy Beryl and Walter Haufschild. Muriel was born in Toronto, studied piano and was honoured to play in a recital at the Royal Conservatory of Music. The family moved to Niagara Falls in 1942 where she attended Simcoe Street School and NFCVI where she was voted Outstanding Student in her senior year. Muriel graduated from Hamilton Normal School and began her teaching career at John Marshall School in Stamford. She enjoyed choir work at Morrison Street United Church and later in Oshawa and Bancroft. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be at a later date. 10972849

Il était le fils de feu Hervé Brazeau et de feu Cécile Deguire. Il laisse ses enfants: Stéphane (Josée) et Yvon; ses 2 petits-enfants: Vanessa et Brandon. Il laisse également 7 frères et 1 soeur: Madeleine (Serge Gadoua), Lucien (Thérèse), Raymond (Line), Denis (Francine), Richard (Diane), Jean, Robert (Ginette) et Gaëtan (Linda), ainsi que plusieurs neveux et nièces. Il fut prédécédé par un petit-fils, Tyson et son frère Léo (Monique). La famille désire remercier le personnel du Centre d'accueil Roger Séguin pour leurs bons soins et leur compassion. Il n'y aura pas de visites à la maison funéraire, un service religieux en présence des cendres aura lieu le samedi 2 février 2008 à 11h, à l'église Ste-Félicité, Clarence Creek. OBITUARY RUTH CATHERINE COLEMAN HARDING October 9, 1930 January 24, 2008. Unexpectedly, after a brief illness, on January 24, 2008 at Cobourg General Hospital in Ontario. She is survived by her husband of fifty-five years, Michael Blythe Harding, her sisters Carol Colapinto and Anne Coleman, her brother Charles Coleman, her sons Frank (Marie-Christine), Eric (Christiane), and Michael (Katie), and her grandchildren Henri, Elizabeth, Robert and Lucas. Ruth was a gifted visionary painter who received a BFC with distinctions from McGill University, where she studied under Arthur Lismer and Lawren Harris. She was born to Jane Ireland and Charles Coleman in Bwanamkubwe, Northern Rhodesia (now Zambia) in 1930, and in her long and colourful life lived in Alaska, Switzerland, British Guiana (now Guyana), Boston, Montreal and Kitimat - but her parents were from North Hatley, and that was her first home, though she and Michael retired to small town Ontario. She had been working hard on a memoir and had it almost finished. There will be a funeral at MacCoubrey Funeral Home, 30 King St. E, Cobourg on Wednesday afternoon at 3 pm, with visitation from 2 pm. LEBLANC, Laurie Thomas (Larry). 1922-2008. Larry passed away on January 25, 2008, after a very courageous and well fought battle with melanoma. Larry leaves to mourn his devoted and loving wife of over sixty-one years, Mary (Rose). Also to mourn the loss of their wonderful father are Ken (Helen), Rosemary (Max McPherson), Tom (Linda), Linda (Late Tom Lumb) and Donna (Bill Chmilnitzky). Larry was the proud and supportive grandfather of thirteen and great-grandfather of one, with two on the way. Larry also leaves sister Theresa, Duncan, BC, and brother Harold (Kay), Halifax, NS, and brother Peter (pre-deceased), as well as many other relatives and friends. Larry was a loyal employee of Via Rail (CNR) for forty-eight years. She was born on January 9, 1916 in Calgary AB, to the late Harry and M. Regina (Neville) McElligott. Frances worked for Provincial Insurance, as a bonding supervisor, until her retirement in 1982. She was a member of St. Rose of Lima Roman Catholic Church, the C.W.L. and was a long time volunteer for V.O.N. Frances is survived by one sister-in-law, Mary McElligott of Saskatoon, SK; niece, Marg Johnson (Gerry) of Edmonton, AB; two nephews, Mark (Shannon) of Prince Albert, SK and Michael McElligott of Regina, SK; and several cousins and great-nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Hugh in 1987; and two nieces, Elizabeth in 1958 and Regina in 2007. Frances was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Peter LeBlanc 1934 - 2008 Peter LeBlanc, of Notre Dame, passed away at The Moncton Hospital on Monday, January 28th, 2008, having just celebrated his 74th birthday. Born in Moncton, NB on January 20, 1934 he was the son of the late Alfred and Rebecca (Savoie) LeBlanc. He is survived by his niece, Regina Bastarache and her husband, Lee Killam with whom he resided; their children Tina and Julie Bastarache whom he was like a brother; sisters, Eva (Robert) Gautreau of Montreal, Margaret LeBlanc of Moncton, Beverly (Mike) Newman of Moncton; brothers, Alfred LeBlanc of Notre Dame, Ivan LeBlanc of Toronto, Johnny LeBlanc of Cambridge ON, Ernest (Carol) LeBlanc of Moncton, Leon LeBlanc of Moncton; several nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his brother, Joseph. Peter will be remembered for his smile and always having a positive attitude, he taught us all the true meaning of love and respect. With such good love and care from his niece Regina and family, he was able to enjoy and live life to the fullest of his abilities. OAKLEY, KATHLEEN ELLEN It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Kathleen Ellen (Browning) Oakley of Oromocto, NB on January 27th, 2008 at the Oromocto Public Hospital. Born in Hersham, Walton-On-Thames, Surrey, England on April 19th, 1920, she was the daughter of the late George and Ellen (Murrell) Browning. Kathleen was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Beside her parents, she was pre-deceased by her husband, Dennis Oakley, brothers George and Albert (Bert) Browning and son-in-law Allen Stevens. Kathleen is survived by her daughters, Carole Stevens and Linda Walton (Wayne McHarg); grandchildren, Roy Stevens (Louise Hudon), Lyanne Stevens-Campbell (Tom), Michael Walton (Angela), Ian Stevens (April) and Melanie Sparks (Craig); great-grandchildren, Jesse Stevens-Campbell, Ashley Walton, Taylor Stevens, Emily Stevens-Campbell and Jacob Sparks; step-great-grandchildren, Patrick Horncastle, Amythest Mabee and Ben Mabee. Kathleen was a member of the St. John's Anglican Church, ACW, Oromocto Hospital Auxiliary and the Sunbury Seniors Friendship Group. There will be no visitation by request of the family.
