Frigon laisse dans le deuil, outre son épouse, ses enfants Lise (Richard Hinse), Albert (Jocelyne Legault), Carole (Jean Lucier), ses petits-enfants Marc-André, Geneviève, Mélanie, ainsi que de nombreux amis. Born in London, Ontario on January 26, 1925, Dorothy is the daughter of the late William H. Bayliffe and Annie Edna (MacLean) Bayliffe. Wife of the late Douglas Snow and cherished mother of Duart, Margot and Dean Snow. Grandmother to Brendan Snow. Dorothy resided in Sarnia, Ontario with her family from 1950-1998 and was a member of St. Giles Presbyterian Church. A memorial service will be held at a later date in Sarnia. Cohl, Dusty - Founder of film festivals, bon vivant, mentor and entertainment guru. Died of cancer at age 78 at Sunnybrook Hospital on January 11, 2008. Dusty will be missed by loving family and a legion of loyal friends. GALLINGER - Wayne Douglas (Gally) died peacefully with his family at his side on January 27, 2008 after suffering a cardiac arrest while doing what he loved best, playing hockey. Born April 13, 1947 in Bracebridge, Ontario, but lived in Port Colborne and then in St. Catharines. Gally leaves behind his wife of 10 years, Carol Cort and 5 children, Keith (Tiffany), Michelle (Randy), Peter, Steve (Maggie) and Cynthia (Dwayne) and 5 grandchildren, Ethan, Morganne, Evangeline, Josh & Kyle. Also survived by his mother Florence of Port Colborne, his aunt Lois Nelson of Thorold and his aunt Rose Robertson of Fonthill. Predeceased by his father Keith Gallinger (1964) and his sister Cathrine Motolanez (1991). Gally loved sports & played hockey almost all his life. He played with the Port Colborne Sailors and then with the Royals and more recently with the Thursday afternoon Duck old timers and Sunday morning old timers in Beamsville. He played fastball in the Citris & Industrial leagues for many years and he was a member of Rockway Glen Golf Club where he and Carol met and spent most of their summers. Long time employee of Duggans Food Basics in St. Catharines. PIOTROWSKI, Helena 2008-01-29 It is with great sadness that the family of Helena Piotrowski (Szramenko) announces her sudden passing on Sunday, January 27, 2008 in Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre with her family at her side. Helena was born in Cherkasa, Ukraine and moved to Germany as a young woman to work and it was there she met Stanislaus and fell in love and they were married in 1945. In 1951 they immigrated to Canada with their three children and made Thunder Bay (Port Arthur) their home. Her family was her whole life. Helena attended St. Mary‘s Our Lady Queen of Poland Church and was very active in perogy making at the Church. She loved everyone she worked with and always had a joke or two to tell. She had a very loving and bubbly personality, made friends easily and always had a kind word to say about everyone. She enjoyed knitting, especially slippers for her friends and hats for the Red Cross Society. She loved having company drop in for coffee and conversation and laughs. She enjoyed the casino and loved her annual trips to Black Bear with her daughter Mary. She is survived by sons Pawel, Henry (Betty), daughter Mary (William) Hughes, grandchildren Roxie McIntyre of Warburg, Alberta, Wade (Maureen) Hughes, and Christopher (Amy) Piotrowski, great grandchildren Shylo Fadden, Dakota and Kayla Johnson,Audra-Lynn McIntyre, Heather and Amy Hughes, and Maizey Paige Piotrowski, and great great grandchildren Breanna, Marc, Ashton and Tanisha Fadden. Helena was predeceased by her husband Stanislaus in 1979. Funeral services for the late Mrs. Helena Piotrowski will be held on Friday, February 1, 2008 with family and friends gathering at St. Mary‘s Our Lady Queen of Poland Roman Catholic Church for Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM celebrated by Father I. Stadler. Interment to follow in St. Andrew‘s R.C. Cemetery. A veteran of the Second World War, he was a well-respected mechanic with Custom Motors in Prince Edward Island and Halifax. A loving husband of over 40 years and grandfather to his only grandchild, and light of his life, Austin, whose hockey career brought him great joy. Russell will be sadly missed by all friends and family whom he dedicated his life to. COLLINS, Michael J. - January 27th 2008 in his 90th year, at Royal Victoria Hospital, Barrie. Survived by Mary, his loving wife of sixty-three years and their children Michael (Linda), Kathy, Tom (Rasa), and Brian (Louise). Also survived by grandchildren Ian (Christine), Anna, Jason (Kim), Amy (Jeff) and Shauna, and great-grandchildren Monty, Kylie and Kyle. Born in Dublin in 1918, coming to Canada as a ten-year old, Mike became a farmer in Vespra Township near Barrie. He served in the Grey & Simcoe County Foresters and then joined the RCAF in World War II. After the war, he worked at Camp Borden, Ontario and Toronto International Airport. Mike was a writer and avid historian all his life, publishing numerous magazine articles, fiction pieces and a collection of rural stories called Side Roads & Rail Fences. He was a member of the Canadian Authors Association and the Laubach Literacy organization. In retirement Mike continued to write, travel, and garden. He also obtained a university degree from York and served as a director of the Gryphon Theatre Society and president of the Georgian Bay Credit Union, both of Barrie. A member of St. Mary's Parish in Barrie, Mike will be sorely missed by his friends and family. Friends may call at the STECKLEY- GOODERHAM FUNERAL HOME (Clapperton and Worsley St.), Barrie on Monday 7-9 pm and Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Parish prayers will be held on Tuesday evening at 8:45 pm. Dear mother of Susan Beaty and cherished Nana of Lance Beaty. Dear sister of Florence Allen, Winnifred Irvine, Don Matthews, Shirley Pettigrew (Howard) and Barbara Rutherford. Mabel is also survived by her sisters-in-law Bernice Cleator and Tommy Matthews, and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents John and Florence Matthews, her sisters Josephine Madgwick and Una McIntosh, and her brothers Victor and Frank. Mabel in her younger years was an exceptional athlete and won many trophies and honours in various sports. In her business career, Mabel was an executive secretary. Most of all, Mabel was a loving and devoted wife, mother, Nana and sister who will be greatly missed and always remembered. Cremation has taken place. JONES, Helen Cecile (nee Quincy) November 23, 1942 - January 25, 2008 Helen passed away suddenly on Friday, January 25, 2008 after a prolonged medical condition at the age of 65 years. Helen was born on November 23, 1942 in Fort Belknap, Montana and was educated at St. Paul's Mission, Hays, Montana and Montana State University. She married her soulmate, Rodney Jones on September 15, 1962 at St. Paul's Mission. Helen's complete focus in life was her family and friends. All those that knew her loved her for her generous and compassionate nature. A gracious host, avid decorator, consummate shopper, artistic, creative, stylish, classy, and beautiful all describe but could never do justice to all that she was. Besides Rod, her loving husband of forty-six years, Helen is survived by daughter Rana (Carl Kelly); son Justin; son-in-law Rick; grandchildren Zachary and Noah Kelly; brothers Jack and Gaylord; sisters, Sharon, Lois, and Rose; and numerous relatives throughout the States. HARJU, Laila 2008-01-29 It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Laila Harju on January 27, 2008. Laila was born on June 10, 1938 in Port Arthur. A lifelong resident of Thunder Bay she enjoyed the outdoors, camping, fishing, and her great pastime of gardening. She always looked forward to her trips with her friends to the casino but most of all she enjoyed her time with her family, friends and her dog Chancy. She was survived by her spouse Ray Salminen and her loving children Cindy (Roy), Mark (Lee-Ann), Wanda (Matti), and Corey; grandchildren Tabetha, Travis, Jonathin, Kirsten (Robb) and Shannen (Rob). She is also survived by her sister Eila and her brother in law Armand Morency. Predeceased by her parents Edith and Andrew Ranta as well as her husband Voitto (Joe) Harju. Cremation has taken place and a gathering of family and friends will be held at Oliver Road Rec Center on Friday, February 1 from 2-4pm, as well an informal gathering at her daughter Cindy‘s after 6pm.
