CORNFIELD, VIVIAN DORIS - 90, West Saint John, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 23, 2008, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born on February 13, 1917, in Amherst, N.S., she was the daughter of the late Edgar George and Ida May (Brenton) McEachern. Vivian was a homemaker spending most of her life as a resident of West Saint John, as well she was a life long member of Douglas Avenue Christian Church. She is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, John Thomas Cornfield; sisters, Iris June Pattman, Saint John, Dawn Marie (Robert) Doul, Saint John, Frances Elizabeth (Charles) Finley, Grand Bay - Westfield, Marilyn Joyce Gates, Saint John. ALLCOCK, Elizabeth - Loving wife of the late William Gordon Allcock, passed away peacefully at the Plummer Hospital on January 23. She spent the last few months celebrating her 90th birthday with family and friends, and had just celebrated the birth of her first great-grandchildren. Daughter of the late Luella and Garret Lamb, sister of Barbara Lamb (late Tom Gillespie), Laurence (Florence), the late Fraser, sister- in-law Dorothy Butler (Bob) and late brother- in-law Stuart Neundorf. Dearly loved mother of William, James, Marion Lesnik (Michael), Margaret Buffington, and John (Jennifer Baker). Elizabeth took great pride and joy in her grandchildren Christopher Allcock, Katherine (Lonnie Wilson), the late Robyn Buffington, Emma and Jack Lesnik, Cameron and Daniel Allcock, and recent great-grandchildren Tyler and Lucas Wilson. Aunt of Tom (Suzanne) Lamb, Marie Lamb- Martine (Brian), Barbara Lamb and Jill McLean (Bob) and many great nieces and nephews. Elizabeth proudly served her country as a WREN in WW2 and maintained an active relationship with the Canadian WREN Association. Elizabeth and Bill, her loving husband of 57 years, lived many years in Thunder Bay and were long-time members of Trinity United Church, and since their move to Sault Ste. Marie, with St. Andrews United Church. Although her family resides around the world - in New Zealand, Thunder Bay, British Columbia, Sault Ste. Marie and Australia, until very recently she kept daily contact through E- mail, a skill she learned when she was 85. Elizabeth was known for her extraordinary priority to keep in touch with family and friends. Elizabeth and Bill traveled every summer to their cabin on Lake Superior where family values were reflected in their love of nature and love of family. Elizabeth passes on a legacy of service, loyalty, and generosity to all that knew her. Lifelong Earlton resident Rollande Gauthier died peacefully at her home January 20, 2008, surrounded by family and friends. She was 73. Mrs. Gauthier was a faithful member of Paroisse Saint-Jean-Baptiste. She was also known for her outstanding involvement in the community and dedication to various organizations, including Carrefour du Bel Age, Club de l’Age d’Or, UCFO, and Meals on Wheels. She also served as a municipal councillor for the past 13 years. She will be remembered by her family and many friends as a vibrant, outgoing person with a wonderful joie de vivre. She was predeceased by her parents, Rolland and Augustine Léveillé, and by her brother Hector (the late Cécile) Léveillé. She is survived by her husband, Maurice, and children André Gauthier (Carmen Breault) of Dymond, Lilianne (Guy) Gravel of Earlton, Céline (Claude) Duguay of Earlton, Doris (Martin) Maillé of New Liskeard and France Gauthier (Peter) Connelly of Dymond. She also leaves 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Also left to mourn are siblings Rita (Léon) Léveillé, Marie-Paule (late Paul-Emile) Loranger, Charles Léveillé, Georgette (Ted) Gauthier, Simone (Yvon) Hamelin, Denise (Paul) Robichaud, Jeanne (Norman) Loranger, Gaston (Marjorie) Léveillé, Henri (Lydia) Léveillé, Lise (Yvon) Ducharme, Maurice (Joanne) Léveillé and Laurent (Vicki) Léveillé. MCGOUEY, EDWARD - Mr. Edward McGouey of Ridgewood Veterans Hospital Saint John passed away on January 23, 2008 at the age of 87. Born in Saint John, he was the son of the late James and Alice (Scott) McGouey and the husband of the late Phyllis (Smardon) McGouey who passed away in 1993. Edward is survived by two sons, Donnie (Pat) of Highfield and Greg (Bella) of South branch; five grandchildren; five great grandchildren; two brothers, Donald McGouey of Picadilly and Billy McGouey of Saint John; as well as several nieces and nephews. Edward was predeceased by two brothers, John and Gregory; and by his sister, Theresa Brown. YRJANAINEN, Aatos 2008-01-25 Aatos age 89 years passed away peacefully at Thunder Regional Health Sciences Centre on Wednesday, August 23, 2008 after a lengthy illness. Aatos was born in Kauhajoki, Finland February 7, 1918. From 1937 to 1944 he served with the Finnish Army. He moved to Canada in 1957 and in 1958 his wife and daughter joined him. He worked as a truck driver in the bush camps first and later as a carpenter at various construction sites. His favourite job was at the construction of Fort William Historical Park. He retired in 1983 and enjoyed many years of retirement in good health. Since 2003 he had been on dialysis due to kidney failure. He will be sadly missed by his daughter Pirkko (Edwin) Harkonen, granddaughter Linda Harkonen, grandson Harold (Tammy) Harkonen, great-grandchildren Kira, Brady and Niklas Harkonen, brother Alpo and nieces and nephew in Finland. He was predeceased by his wife Sivia in 2004. As per his wishes cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. February 7th, 2008 (which would have been his 90th birthday) at Hilldale Lutheran Church. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Hilldale Lutheran Church, Kidney Foundation or the charity of your choice would be appreciated. She was a member of “Femmes de Fermière” and enjoyed playing cards, the outdoors, snowmobiling, fishing and hunting. She is survived by her husband Wilfred; her son, Ronald (Melissa) of Kapuskasing; two sisters Claudette Loiselle of Penticton, B.C. and Liliane Champagne (Ronald) of Kapuskasing; four brothers, Roland Papineau (Rita) of Cochrane, Roger Papineau (Lise) of Cochrane, Fernand Papineau (Yollande) of Moonbeam and Etienne (Suzanne) of Kapuskasing ; one brother-in-law, Bill Robinson, as well as two grandchildren, Ethan and Justin. Mrs. Ward was predeceased by her sister Simone Robinson, her brother-in-law, Claude Loiselle and her sister-in-law, Solange Papineau. Father Robert Tremblay will officiate the funeral service at Notre-Dame-des-Victoires Church on Jan. 19, 2008 at 10 :30 a.m. Cremation at the Hillcrest Crematorium in Matheson. After a short illness, Thérèse Forget (née Courchesne) died peacefully at the Temiskaming Hospital with her family by her side on January 12, 2008. Mrs. Forget was born in Belle Vallée to Stanislas Forget and Marguerite Dessert on November 5, 1918. Educated in Belle Vallée, she worked at the Haileybury Hospital in housekeeping until becoming a full-time homemaker. Mrs. Forget was predeceased by her husband Albert Forget on July 29, 1976. She is survived by her daughters Fernande (Ernest) Toupin and Denise (Gaston) Plamondon as well as her son Henry (Debbie) Forget, eight grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, her brother Maurice (Aurore) Courchesne and her sisters Yvonne Goudreault and Alice Courchesne. The funeral was officiated by Père Germain Turcotte and took place at Paroisse Sacré Coeur with arrangements for a burial at the New Liskeard Catholic Cemetery in the spring. Relatives and friends attended from Richmond Hill, Tillsonburg, Val Caron and Brampton. Pallbearers were grandsons Jean Paul Forget, Bruce Toupin, Robbie Forget, great-granddaughter Renée Toupin, great-grandsons Mathieu and Patrick Toupin. The family wishes to thank the staff at the Temiskaming Hospital and extend a special thank you to Dr. Corbin, Simone and Nicole.

JUSTASON, MAYNARD EUGENE - Peacefully at his residence on January 24th 2008, Mr Maynard Eugene Justason of Canal, NB., husband of Gail (Waite) Justason He was born at Black's Harbour, NB. On May 11th 1938, son of the late Emery and Margaret (Leavitt) Justason. He attended school at Black's Harbour and in his early years was employed by Connors Bros. at their retail store. In later years he became self employed and operated several business at the Pennfield Corner, which included a grocery store, a furniture store, pool hall as well as a recycling depot. He was an avid outdoorsmen who enjoyed hunting and fishing and also was a former member of the Black's Harbour and St George Curling Clubs. In addition to his wife Gail, he is survived by two sons; Bill (Tracy)Justason of Blaine,WA., and Brad Justason (Nathalie Page) of St George, NB, one daughter; Sari Justason (Jeff Stewart) of Pennfield ,NB., and two grandchildren; Taylor and Cassidy Justason, two sisters; Pauline (late Bernard) Tucker of Saint John, NB., and Carolyn (Ken ) Hooper of Black's Harbour NB., and several nieces and nephews. Resting at the St George Funeral Home and Crematorium, 26 Portage st, St George, NB.(755 3533), from where the service will be held on Sunday at 2pm at the Gary E. Waycott Memorial Chapel with Rev. RIVETT, Mervin Leslie -1942 - 2008 -It is with deep sadness that the family of Mervin Leslie Rivett announces his passing at his home on Thursday, January 24, 2008 surrounded by his loving family. Mervin fought a short but courageous battle with cancer. He was born and raised in Kirkland Lake. Mervin was employed by the Town of Kirkland Lake Works Department for 30 years. He was predeceased by his infant son Mervin Leslie in 1970 and father Henry Rivett in 1980. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife Alice (nee Lamarche) and his beloved children Dianne (Danny), Henry (Reina) and Norman (Vivian). Mervin will be fondly remembered by his mother Evelyn Rivett; grandchildren Casey, Brody and Jesse Lafleche, Kristin and Tiffany Rivett. SHEDDEN, Roderick 2008-01-25 Mr. Roderick James Shedden age 61 years of Thunder Bay, passed away unexpectedly at Thunder Bay Regional Hospital on January 23, 2008 with his family by his side. He was raised and educated locally and joined the Fort William police force in 1967, retiring in 2000 after 33 years of service. Rod‘s family was most important to him and he married his best friend Carol on June 18th of 2007 in Las Vegas. His son Trevor was his best buddy and partner in "Shedden Motors" where they spent many hours in the garage. He had a special bond with his daughter Carla and his two very special granddaughters Carly and Erin. Rod is survived by his loving wife and best friend Carol, his son Trevor (Louisa), daughter Carla (Paul) Mclnrue, his granddaughters Carly and Erin Mclnrue, stepdaughter Erin Hammond and stepsons Andrew (Megan) and Jason Hammond. He is also survived by his sister Lynne (Ron) McDougall, brother Nelson (Susan) Shedden as well as numerous other relatives. He was predeceased by his parents, James and Froella and son Scotty. Cremation has taken place. As per Rod‘s wishes no funeral service will be held. A ’Celebration of Life‘ will be held on Saturday, January 26, 2008 at 2:00pm in the Provincial Room at the Prince Arthur Hotel. MacDONALD, Mark (Student – Carleton University) Tragically, as the result of a motor vehicle accident in Ottawa on Wednesday morning, January 23rd, 2008. Mark Jeffrey MacDonald of Arnprior at the age of 20 years. Beloved son of Hugh MacDonald and Hazel MacDonald (nee Findlay).
