HAYTER, Joyce Elizabeth Grace Peacefully at Pentlow Nursing Home, Eastbourne, England on December 12, 2007, in her 86th year. Much beloved wife of the late Dr. Russell Hayter, loving mother of Charles of Toronto, Sally of Winnipeg, and Robert of England, proud grandmother to ten grandchildren and one great-grandson. Joyce and Russell spent many happy years in Canada including over twenty years in Calgary, where she will be missed by many friends. After the death of her husband, Joyce returned to her beloved England. She will always be remembered for her tremendous sense of humour and fun, her love of the outdoors which included a special fondness for the Rockies, and an abiding faith that saw her through difficult times. MARCELLUS, Mathilde "Tillie" September 27, 1917 - December 24, 2007 It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of our beloved mother who passed away at the Peter Lougheed Hospital on December 24, 2007 at the age 90 years. She is survived by four children, Daisy (Marcel) Toth, Rose-Marie Monvoisin, Walter (Pauline) Marcellus, Ken (Denise) Marcellus. Tillie is survived by nine grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren; as well as her brother Eric (Avice) Schwesinger and her nephew Craig. She was predeceased by her husband George in 1981. Tillie enjoyed gardening and enjoyed being with her family at all the special family events. One of her greatest joys in life was driving which she was able to do almost until her 90th birthday. Tillie was a life-time member of the Greater Forest Lawn Senior Centre. She volunteered on many occasions and also donated her hand crafted embroidery work. She celebrated her 90th birthday in September with a surprise party at the Senior Centre hosted by her family. A Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel of MOUNTAIN VIEW FUNERAL HOME on Wednesday, January 2, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. Graveside Service to follow in Mountain View Memorial Gardens. DIEGEL, Ivan Harry Following a long courageous struggle, Ivan Harry Diegel left this world to be with his beloved wife, Gerda; parents, Reinhold and Elizabeth and brothers, Art and Gilbert. He passed away on December 28, 2007 at the age of 85 years. Ivan will be lovingly remembered by his son Larry (Leslie), and all who knew him. A warm, kind man, his love of nature and his talent for capturing it in his carvings, paintings and many other hobbies was a very rare gift. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the staff at the Brentwood Nursing Home for their loving care and compassion. STOLZENBERGER, Leslie August 20, 1918 - December 26, 2007 Leslie Stolzenberger of Calgary passed away on Wednesday, December 26, 2007 at the age of 89 years. Leslie was born in Szombathely, Hungary and followed his father's and grandfather's (Captain of the Palace Guard) military tradition and graduated from a prestigious Officers Academy. Having lost his entire family and land holdings to WWII, he worked for the Red Cross and ended up in France where, as a chauffeur, he met and married Klara Gyurko and fathered a daughter, Klarica and son, Lacika. Fearing another war with the Russians in Europe he brought his wife and children to Canada in 1952 and settled down in Calgary. Overcoming cultural shock, a new language (he also spoke French, Russian, German, as well as his native tongue) and the loss of his daughter to polio, Leslie managed to work his way up from a painter to owning Cam-Dec, one of the largest painting companies in Calgary. He quickly gained a reputation among friends and strangers for his generosity and irresistible European charm and with the ever present twinkle in his eyes he so enjoyed to see the pleasure in others. At age 89 that twinkle finally blinked out in his sleep. Leslie is survived by his wife Klara and son Leslie Jr. (Loraine). BAER, Ted Joachim August 3, 1920 - December 25, 2007 It is with sadness that his family announces the sudden passing of Ted on Tuesday, December 25, 2007 at the age of 87 years. Born in Aussig, Czechoslovakia, Ted immigrated to Canada in 1954 with his wife Ilse and their two children. After a productive career in design engineering he retired with Ilse in Sidney, BC. For twenty years he was an active member of the Bethel Fellowship Baptist Church there, before he moved back to Calgary to be near his children. Ted will be remembered as a devout Christian and an adventurous, artistic, self-reliant, private man. He was predeceased by Ilse, his beloved wife of sixty years in 2004, and is survived by his brother Karl-Hans (Friedchen) of Koblenz, Germany; his son Horst (Keitha); his daughter Heidi (Alex) Graham of Calgary; three grandchildren; a niece; and a nephew. GREENE, Marguerite Annette Marguerite Greene, devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother and sister passed away suddenly on December 23, 2007. Born March 24, 1925 in St. Bruno de Guignes, Quebec, she lived most of her life in Montreal prior to moving to Calgary in 1985. Her passing has left a huge hole in the hearts and lives of her family to whom she devoted her entire life and in whom she found her greatest joys. Her memory will be forever cherished by her loving son Bob, his wife Kathie and her adored grandchildren, Naomi, Cara and Michael who she often referred to as "my darlings". She was a highly organized and meticulous homemaker, as well as an expert knitter and gifted many of her family with sweaters and slippers. Predeceased by her beloved husband Fred on September 15, 2007 we are comforted in knowing they are again together in eternity. Marguerite was also predeceased by her parents George and Annette Helie, her sister Joan (Andre) and brother Aurel (Denise). She will be greatly missed by her sisters Rose, Gertrude (Leo), Hugette, Dorothy (Merv), Doris (Rene) and her brother Armel (Audrey) as well as many nieces and nephews. ROADHOUSE, Stanley Lloyd September 6, 1934 - December 25, 2007 Stan's battle with cancer ended on Christmas morning. He will be greatly missed and remembered as a person who loved life and had a wonderful sense of humor. His passions included golf where he was a member at Inglewood, winter vacations in Arizona and fishing in Wisconsin. Elle était la soeur de Marie-Lou conjointe de Rémi Mercier, la petite-fille de Annette Marchand et de feu Sévère St-Cyr et de feu Monique Boulet et de Roland Dubreuil. Elle était la nièce de Johanne St-Cyr (Alain Verreault), Louise St-Cyr (Serge Sylvain), Daniel Marchand conjoint de Marie-Andrée Breton, Raynald Dubreuil (Suzanne Thivierge) et de Chantal Dubreuil (Louis Roy). Elle laisse également ses cousins et cousines ainsi que de nombreux amis. Le service religieux a été célébré en l’église St-Alphonse. La famille a confié la direction des funérailles à la Maison Gamache et Nadeau, membre de la Corporation des thanatologues du Québec.

STINSON, Wm. Orval - Passed away at the St.Catharines General Hospital on Monday December 24, 2007 at 83 years of age. He was born, raised and then ran the family farm in Louth until he retired and moved into St.Catharines. He lived with his devoted sister and best friend Edith Smith (Jim) until Alzheimer's confined him to Versa Care for his last 2 1/2 years. Orval is survived by his sisters Edith Smith (Jim) and Winnie Lane (Archie); his nieces Marg and husband Mel Merritt, Linda and husband Adrian Holmes and Donna Simcox; and his nephew Robert Stinson. EARLE, RAYMOND CHARLES - The death of Raymond Charles Earle, loving husband of Theresa (Casey) Earle occurred on Thursday December 27, 2007 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born 1933 in Saint John, he was the son of the late Raymond Clarence Earle and Mary Kyle. Raymond was a Commercial Traveler throughout NB, PE and NS. He is survived by sisters, Joan Vautour (Gilbert), Verna O'Brien (John) of New Maryland, NB and Doreen Graham (Ronald). Greatly loved and missed by sons Kevin Earle (Lisa), Jeffrey Earle (Laurie) of Glenwood, NB, John Earle (Dana) of Raleigh, NC and daughter Erica Breen (George) of Quispamsis, NB; four loving grand- daughters Victoria, Kamryn, and Madison Earle and Casey Breen; and several nieces and nephews. GREGORY, Gerald David - Peacefully at Versa Care on Thursday December 27, 2007. Gerald David Gregory in his 81st year. Beloved husband of Katharine Mary Raynor for over 61 years. Loving father of Sandy (Jeff) Lee and “Bop” to Jamie Lee of Montreal and Aprille (Kenny) Smith of Brantford. He is also survived by great grandchildren, Jessica, Mariah, Auztin, and Mackenly Smith of Brantford. Pre-deceased by his brother Tom and sister-in-law Muriel, his parents Tom and Kate Ann Gregory and his in-laws Gordon and Florence Raynor. Gerry is survived by his sister Betty Edmondson of North Vancouver, Don (Lorna), Brantford and Bob (Darlene) of Waterloo. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins, and will be remembered by his good friends Vern and Marion LaSalle. Gerry served in the Merchant Navy on a Norwegian ship “The Askepot“ and during a ceremony at the Norwegian Consulate in Toronto he received a war medal from the Norwegian government and a letter of appreciation from King Harold of Norway. Gerry was employed by the Brantford Transit as a bus driver, an inspector and a superintendent for 37 years. The best part of his job was standing on the corner and talking to the public. He loved camping for 45 years with his friends, and also enjoyed square and round dancing where he served on the executive of both clubs for many years. While at the Transit he was also active in the civic bowling league. He was involved at Wesley United Church having served as a Sunday school teacher and as a superintendent. For the past three years he has resided at Versa Care where he received excellent care, friendship and kindness from all the staff. Friends will be received at the DENNIS TOLL FUNERAL HOME, 55 Charing Cross Street, Brantford on Sunday December 30, 2007 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. A celebration of Gerry's life will take place in the chapel on Monday at 11 a.m. Cremation has taken place. SYMONS, Robert Kenneth (1928-2007) - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Bob, on Sunday December 23rd at the North Bay General Hospital - Scollard Site, in his 80th year. Predeceased by his wife Dot (2003). Left to mourn him are his children Carol Robinson (Pat), Terry (Sharon), Wendy Simms, Brenda Lanto (Al), Susan Montag (Mike), and Randy. OBITUARY STANLEY C. McROBERT 1933-2007 Passed away in Mont Tremblant, suddenly on December 24, 2007, at the age of seventy-four years, son of the late Stanley Boyd McRobert and Laurette Bruneau. Cherished and beloved husband of Laurie Demcoe. Loving father to David (Sue Humphrey), Lisa, Charles and Jennifer and dear grandfather to Amanda, Dylan, Alex, Natalie, Emily and Alexandra. Stan will also be remembered by his sister Marilyn Harrold, his nieces and nephew, and his many friends both in Montreal and Mont Tremblant. A professional engineer, graduating from McGill University, he was the Chief Operating Officer and Director of Farr Inc., in Laval for many years until he retired in 1999. He was past Chairman of the Montreal Section, Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) and member of the Montreal Rotary Club. He enjoyed car racing, skiing, tennis, golf, boating and photography. Stan was a warm and kind individual who will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him. GARNEAU, Alphonse R. À Lachine, le 22 décembre 2007, à l'âge de 84 ans, est décédé Alphonse R. Garneau, époux de Germaine Guérin. Il était aussi le frère de feu Carole Barras. Alphonse (Junior) Garneau est né à Percé en 1923, il était le fils d'Alphonse S. Garneau et de Béatrice Pidgeon. Il était diplômé de la faculté de droit de l'Université McGill et membre du Barreau du Québec. Il devint Conseiller de la Reine et fut pendant près de 20 ans avocat-conseil en chef de la Société Roynat jusqu'à sa retraite en 1983. Il vécut une retraite heureuse dans le petit village de Coin-du-Banc dans sa Gaspésie natale. Les funérailles auront lieu en la chapelle de la Résidence funéraire J.J. Dorothy Ross 1923 - 2007 Dorothy Ross, of Peoples Park Tower, Moncton, passed away at The Dr. George L. Dumont Hospital Moncton on Tuesday, December 25, 2007 at the age of 84 years. Born in Napan, NB on January 18, 1923 she was the daughter of the late Harrison and Laura (MacNaughton) Dutcher. She is survived by daughter, Galen (Richard) Smith of Port La Tour, NS; grandchildren, Kimberley Margison (Darren Dunn) of Oromocto, Duncan (Kelley) Smith of Charlottetown, Matthew (Romanie) Smith of Calgary; great grandchildren, Chelsea and Ashleigh Margison, Aaron, Kayleen, and Isabel Smith; sister, Ruby Wilson of Riverview, Ruby and her children were lovingly attentive to Dorothy; also by her brother, Kenneth Dutcher of Fredericton. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband, Donald Hugh Ross in 1993. Dorothy and Don lived in Moncton, Halifax, and spent many winters in Florida with summers in Caissie Cape, NB. A memorial service will be held at Tuttle Brothers Memorial Chapel on Friday, December 28, 2007 at 11:00 am with Rev. Martin Kreplin officiating. There will be a reception to follow the service.
