COURT, Violet March 12, 1912 - December 11, 2007 Violet Court of Calgary, passed away on Tuesday, December 11, 2007 at the age of 95 years. Vi was a pioneer of the Bow Valley. Her family owned and operated Loders Lime. Vi enjoyed spending time with her family and will be dearly missed. Vi is remembered by a son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Sally of ON; two daughters and a son-in-law, Donna Hubman, Marney and Cliff Fairman all of Calgary. She is also remembered by her six grandchildren, Jeff, Joni, Dean, Sheri, Bruce and Tammy; and her seven great-grandchildren, Brandon, Devon, Jay, Lauren, Sydney, Regan and Zak. ROBINSON, Jean Elizabeth (nee Holmes) May 11, 1936 - December 12, 2007 Jean Robinson, beloved wife of Ben Robinson of Calgary, passed away on Wednesday, December 12, 2007 at the age of 71. Jean was born in Alsask, Saskatchewan on May 11, 1936 and passed away after a short battle with cancer at the Rockyview Hospital on December 12, 2007. Jean grew up in New Brigden, Alberta and attended the Calgary branch of the University of Alberta. Jean taught for the Separate School Board in Calgary for twenty-seven years, retiring in 1993. Jean is survived by her husband Ben, mother Olive Holmes, her sister Thelma (Alan), sister-in-law Lillian and brother Gerry; four children, Darrel Robinson (Denise), Donna Norby, Gordon Robinson (Shawnee), Kerri Butler (Gord); and five grandchildren, Carolynn, Curtis, Taylor, Shawn and Ty; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Jean was predeceased by her father Nels Holmes in 1977, son-in-law Dale Norby in 1991 and her brother Milton Holmes in 1999. VIOLANTE, Crystal Alison (nee Hehr) March 2, 1976 - December 12, 2007 It is with profound sadness that Crystal's family announces her passing after a courageous battle with cancer. Crystal passed away on Wednesday, December 12, 2007 at the age of 31 and will be missed immensely by those whose lives she touched. Crystal was born in Calgary and attended Mount Royal College, graduating in 2004 with a Bachelor of Applied Communications (Public Relations). She met the love of her life, Anthony in 1999 and they have been inseparable since. Crystal loved music, dancing and traveling but her biggest joy and passion was Anthony and Mattea, family and friends. People were drawn to Crystal because of her passion for life and her magnetic personality; her motto was love always, live life and no regrets. Besides her loving husband Anthony, Crystal is survived by their daughter Mattea Rene; mother Mavis (Gary) Nugent of Creston, B.C.; her sister Holly Hehr of Calgary, AB; father-in-law Domenik (Patrizia) Violante of Kingston, ON; mother-in-law, Barbara Violante (Bryon) of Chestermere, AB; adoptive father Murray Colclough (Jo-Anne) of Calgary, AB; grandmother Mary Hehr of Caroline, AB; and numerous extended family and friends. WHITE, Garfield "Guy" S. (Capt., retired), CD December 21, 1917 - December 4, 2007 Guy White passed away at the Olds Hospital Long Term Care Centre on December 4, 2007 at the age of 89 years. He was born in Lanark, Ontario, and grew up in nearby Carleton Place. In 1939 Guy enlisted in the Canadian Armed Forces (RCOC) and over the next twenty-six years served in Canada, the United Kingdom, Continental Europe and the Far East. He then worked for thirteen years as the Vice President - Administration at Olds College. Guy leaves to remember him, Grace, his wife of sixty-one years, son Bill and his wife Kathy, and grandchildren Eric, Megan and Jessica. Memorial Services were held at the Olds United Church on December 8, 2007, with Burial to follow at a later date. Guy's family wish to thank the staff at Long Term Care in Olds, Drs. THORNE, HILDA - Hilda Dorothy,Thorne 93, Dartmouth, former resident of Saint John for 90 years, passed away following a brief illness, on December 11, 2007 in the Dartmouth General Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Saint John, eldest daughter of the late James and Ethel (Linton) McKillop, she was predeceased by her husband Anslie George in 1985. She is survived by her children, Eileen (Bill) Buzan, Calgary; Barbara Lamb, Dartmouth; Catherine (Jim)Crocket, Ancaster, ON; Bob (Shirlee), Innisfail, AB; George (Debbie), Thompson, MB; her sisters, Marion Stewart, Saint John; Bernice (John) Warner, Brampton, ON and sister-in-law, Dot McKillop, Saint John. Hilda was predeceased by brother, Gordon and sister Audrey Hetherington. Hilda (Mom) is also survived by step-children, Ken (Ruby) BC; Russell (Eunice) AB; Gladys and Dawn NB, predeceased by step-children Marie, Peg and Edward. Hilda loved her family dearly and cherished each and every grandchild, great grandchild, and her many nieces and nephews who added so much interest and pleasure to her life. She had been an active member of Main St Baptist Church in Saint John, hospital volunteer and retiree of General Accident Insurance. Hilda loved life. Her adventures and travels to many family gatherings across Canada over the years has left a lifetime of wonderful memories for all. As a loving and supportive sister, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend, she will be dearly missed. A special thank you to Dr. John W. MacDonald for his care and kindness. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service and reception will be held at Lakecrest Estates, 31 Russell Lake Dr, Dartmouth, Saturday, Dec 15th at 2:30pm. Interment will take place at Fernhill Cemetery in Saint John, NB on Monday Dec 17th at 11am, weather permitting. No flowers, as requested by her. TOZER, MARY E. (HOGBIN) - Bathurst - The death of Mary E. (Hogbin) Tozer, of O'Neil Ave, Bathurst, beloved wife of the late E. Leslie Tozer occurred peacefully on Tuesday December 11, 2007 at Chaleur Regional Hospital. Born on February 9, 1923 in Newcastle, N.B. she is the daughter of the late William Robert Lunnon Hogbin of Margate England and Mary Elizabeth (Daughney) Hogbin of Newcastle, NB. Mary worked as the office manager at NB Tel in Newcastle N.B. until her marriage in 1946. After that she devoted her life to raising her family and "spoiling" her grandchildren. When health permitted she was actively involved in her church especially the Atlantic Baptist Women's Missionary Society. She is survived by one daughter Lesley E. Lord (Bernard) of Saint John, NB; one son, David W. Tozer (Valerie) of Bathurst, NB; three grandchildren Rebekah, Stuart and Kathleen Tozer; and one sister Phyllis Falconer (Kenneth) of Trenton ON. She was predeceased by her husband E. Leslie Tozer two weeks ago; and her two sisters Ivy Johnston (Joe) and Marjorie Adair (Alex). There will be no visitation at the Funeral Home. SHINNIE, Emma - After a courageous battle, the family of Emma Shinnie (nee Wood) mourns her passing on December 11, 2007. Emma will be greatly missed by her husband of 50 years, Ron Shinnie. She will be dearly remembered by her daughters, Heather Shinnie-Gonzales (Bruce), Amy Piggot (Ken), Rona Vatcher (Steve), April Hulick (Howard) and son Greg (Adrienne). She will be fondly remembered by her grandchildren, Emilie, Ron, Greg, Eric, Jessica, Sarah, Stephen, Hannah, Benjamin, Andrea and Emma. Emma was predeceased by her parents Barrie & Jessie Wood. Emma was born July 28, 1928 and raised in Fredericton Junction, New Brunswick, where she started her working life as a telephone operator before moving west to Ontario where she met her true and greatest love, Ron Shinnie. They would spend many nights dancing away at The French Club and eventually married. Later, she would spend time with Ron watching “Her Shows“, shopping or just going for a drive and stopping somewhere for some pie and tea. She continued to work for many years as a Nurses Aid at several nursing homes in St. Catharines. During that time she worked the night shift while raising her family until her retirement in 1984. Everyone was always welcome at Emma's house, she enjoyed all the excitement, tears, pain, love and joy that were part of raising a large family. Emma loved all her children and grandchildren very much and will be remembered as a strong, kind, caring and loving mother and grandmother. Emma took great pride in watching her children grow up happy and healthy and raise families of their own. She truly loved being a mother and grandmother, seeing her own children happy made her happy. Following her cremation, at Emma's request the family will be holding a private service Friday, December 14, 2007. The family would like to thank the Doctors, Nurses and staff at St Joseph's Healthcare Firestone Institute and St. Catharines General Hospital for the care and compassion provided during her last weeks. PARENT M. Bruno 1961-2007 Paisiblement et entouré des siens, le 7 décembre 2007, à l'âge de 46 ans est décédé M. Bruno Parent demeurant à Farnham. Il rejoint sa mère Mme Françoise Mercier décédée le 12 décembre 2005. Il laisse dans le deuil son père M. Raymond Parent, sa soeur Céline, son beau-frère Daniel Blais, sa filleule Christina Parent-Blais, sa nièce Marie-Laurence Parent-Blais ainsi que son amie de coeur qu'il appelait affectueusement "chaton", ainsi que de nombreux parents et amis. Bruno était un exemple de bonté et c'est avec courage qu'il a mené le combat de toute une vie contre la maladie. Son départ crée un grand vide mais il laisse tellement de beaux souvenirs. La crémation et la direction des funérailles ont été confiés au salon Les funérailles auront lieu ce samedi 15 décembre à 11 h en l'Église St-Romuald, suivies de l'inhumation au cimetière de Farnham. ANDERSON, MARGARET M. - The death of Margaret M. Anderson, wife of Harold M. Anderson, occurred at St. John & St. Stephen Nursing Home on Tuesday, December 11, 2007. Mrs. Anderson was born in Newcastle, a daughter of the late Francis and Julia (Palmer) Major, and had resided in Saint John for over 61 years. She had been employed at the York Cotton Mill and as a homemaker with the Red Cross. She had been a member of Buffalo Ladies Glade #1 and the Seniors Bowling League. Besides her husband, she is survived by three daughters, Joanne Marie Hannah (Ron) of Burlington, Ont., Judith "Judy" Juliano (Mike) of Saint John, and Barbara Ann Anson (David) of Saint John; one adopted brother, Francis Major of Fredericton; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Resting at Fitzpatrick's Funeral Home, 100 Waterloo St., with visiting on Thursday from 7 to 9. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Trinity Church, on Friday morning at twelve o'clock. Interment will take place in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery. KENYON, JONATHAN It is with heartfelt sorrow that the family announces the death of Jonathan Thane Kenyon, age 34, at his home in Halifax, N.S. on Dec. 9, 2007. Formerly of Fredericton, Jonathan was the husband of Michelle McTimoney. Jonathan is survived by his wife, Michelle; his parents, Elaine and Robert of Fredericton, N.B.; brother, Christopher (Jennifer) of Calgary, N.B.; uncle, Wayne Tomilson (Paula) of Fredericton; aunt, Sandra Witmond (Clive) of Kent, England; cousins, Scott Tomilson of Sydney, Australia and Peter Tomilson of Rothesay, N.B.; Sarah, Tony, and Michael Witmond, of Kent, England. Jonathan; a graduate of UNB Mechanical Engineering and UNB Law, was currently employed with the Nova Scotia Department of Justice. Active in sports as a player and coach, he particularly loved basketball, and had become an enthusiastic kayaker and long distance runner. Jon loved music and enriched his life with piano, guitar, and clarinet. He will be sadly missed and joyfully remembered by family, friends, and colleagues. Bill was the loving husband of Shiela Cunning (nee Cranston) and beloved father of son Scott Allan Cunning (predeceased) and daughter Dr. Sandra Ann Cunning of Toronto. Son of Thomas and Millicent (Scott) Cunning, surviving brother of Leslie, Pauline (Moore), Jack, Bob, Dick, and Dave Cunning, and dear brother-in-law to Barbara (nee Ferguson) and Godfrey Cranston of Little Current and Ida Cunning (nee Aelick) of Sudbury.
