Frances Elizabeth "Betty" Steeves 1920 - 2007 Betty Steeves of Royal Court, Riverview, passed away at the Dr. Georges-L. Dumont Hospital on Thursday, December 13th, 2007 at the age of 86 years. Born in Moncton, NB on December 31st, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Pearl (McHugh) Melanson. She was a parishioner at St. Augustine's Roman Catholic Church and a member of the CWL within the church. Betty retired from Cy's Seafood Restaurant in 1986 after many years as office manager. A loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt, she will be forever remembered by her daughters Margaret (Mark) Kennedy of Ottawa, ON, Mary Ellen Bailey of Quispamsis, and Marlene (Keith) Pellerin of Dieppe; son Michael (Heather) Steeves of Riverview; grandchildren David, James, Sean, Shannon, Carl, Matthew S., Geoffrey, Larissa, Meaghan, Alyson, and Matthew P.; great grandson Graeson; also by several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband John "Jack" A. Steeves in 1981; her sister Margaret Hay; and her brother Forein Melanson. Resting at Tuttle Brothers Funeral Home, 171 Lutz St. on Friday, December 14th, 2007 from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm. Parish prayers will be held at the funeral home Friday evening at 8:30 pm. The funeral mass will be held at St. Augustine's Roman Catholic Church on Saturday, December 15th, 2007 at 11 am celebrated by Father Yvon Arsenault and concelebrated by Father Allison Carroll. CHRASTINA, Joseph Anthony - It is with profound sadness that the family of Joseph announces his sudden passing on Monday, December 10, 2007 in his 45th year. Joe (Joey) was born and grew up in Welland, attending JC Bald Elementary School and Centennial High School. He attended and graduated from Cornell University (Ithaca, New York) on a hockey scholarship. Joe was a great lover of sports. He especially enjoyed hockey, golfing, hunting, and fishing. Joe also loved to travel, and did so. His chosen profession afforded him the opportunity to see many beautiful places. He moved to Toronto after graduating from Cornell University to pursue his career. He later transferred to New York City where he lived for a number of years, before returning home to Welland to spend time with his family. Joe was also a great lover of animals and will be sadly missed by his two Boxer's, Stanley and Stella. Joe (Joey) touched the lives of many people. He was a very kind-hearted, generous, loving, and giving man. He loved to help people and was always there with a helping hand, expecting nothing in return. Joseph is survived by his father George, brother George (Jeanne), brother David (Rasa) of Oakville, sister Lois Elia (Tony), sister Mary Guy (Kevin), brother-in-law Larry Taylor (Heather). Nephews Larry Taylor Jr. (Kim), Paul Taylor (Brooke), Bradley Taylor, Dan Chrastina (Becky), Mykal Chrastina, Jevan Elia, Jordy Guy (godson). Nieces Amber Chrastina (Norm) and Alyssa Chrastina. Steven Russell Fleet, of Chilliwack, B.C., passed away peacefully at home on December 7, 2007, in his 45th year. Born in Walkerton, son of Ron and Marie Fleet of Walkerton. COOK, Lloyd Rollin We are deeply saddened by the loss of our beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, Lloyd Rollin Cook. KRENZLER, Evelyn Evelyn D. Krenzler (nee Heine) of Beiseker, AB passed away peacefully on Monday, December 10, 2007 at the age of 79 years. Evelyn was born July 16, 1928 at Acme, AB to Henry and Lydia Heine and was the youngest of five children. She was raised on the farm near Acme, then Dalroy. She married Jacob Krenzler in 1949 and moved to the Kroschel Farm and then to Beiseker. Evelyn is survived by her son Jack (Christine), their sons Michael and Warren, as well as one brother Ruben and Ester Heine and numerous nieces and nephews. Evelyn was predeceased by her husband Jacob on August 9, 2005 and her brothers Dan, Art and Albert. ROBINSON, Jean Elizabeth (nee Holmes) May 11, 1936 - December 12, 2007 Jean Robinson, beloved wife of Ben Robinson of Calgary, passed away on Wednesday, December 12, 2007 at the age of 71. Jean was born in Alsask, Saskatchewan on May 11, 1936 and passed away after a short battle with cancer at the Rockyview Hospital on December 12, 2007. Jean grew up in New Brigden, Alberta and attended the Calgary branch of the University of Alberta. Jean taught for the Separate School Board in Calgary for twenty-seven years, retiring in 1993. Jean is survived by her husband Ben, mother Olive Holmes, her sister Thelma (Alan), sister-in-law Lillian and brother Gerry; four children, Darrel Robinson (Denise), Donna Norby, Gordon Robinson (Shawnee), Kerri Butler (Gord); and five grandchildren, Carolynn, Curtis, Taylor, Shawn and Ty; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Jean was predeceased by her father Nels Holmes in 1977, son-in-law Dale Norby in 1991 and her brother Milton Holmes in 1999. SMITH, Mark Lynton 1978 - 2007 Mark was an adventurer, an outdoorsman and a sportsman. He loved to challenge himself and experience the great outdoors firsthand. Mark was a night porter and street juggler in France, a ski instructor, a carpenter, an artist, a mentor, a rock climber, a pool shark, a golfer, an AAA hockey player, a soccer and baseball star, and a wonderful man. Mark was gifted in his ability to reach out and connect with others. He celebrated every day with those who were lucky enough to know him. As a camp counselor in Algonquin Park, Mark realized that he loved working with youth. Recently he became a counselor for at-risk youth in Calgary, and in a very short time he made a difference in their lives. On Saturday, December 8, Mark and his good friend John lost their lives in an avalanche while back-country skiing in Kananaskis Park, Alberta. Mark's life is being celebrated by his parents, Anne and Lynton; his sister Rachel (Shawn); his brother Adam; other family members and his many friends throughout the world. Crystal passed away on Wednesday, December 12, 2007 at the age of 31 and will be missed immensely by those whose lives she touched. Crystal was born in Calgary and attended Mount Royal College, graduating in 2004 with a Bachelor of Applied Communications (Public Relations). She met the love of her life, Anthony in 1999 and they have been inseparable since. Crystal loved music, dancing and traveling but her biggest joy and passion was Anthony and Mattea, family and friends. People were drawn to Crystal because of her passion for life and her magnetic personality; her motto was love always, live life and no regrets. Besides her loving husband Anthony, Crystal is survived by their daughter Mattea Rene; mother Mavis (Gary) Nugent of Creston, B.C.; her sister Holly Hehr of Calgary, AB; father-in-law Domenik (Patrizia) Violante of Kingston, ON; mother-in-law, Barbara Violante (Bryon) of Chestermere, AB; adoptive father Murray Colclough (Jo-Anne) of Calgary, AB; grandmother Mary Hehr of Caroline, AB; and numerous extended family and friends. ALYEA, Marion Grace - Marion Grace Alyea (Adams) of R.R. #2 Carrying Place passed away as she wished it to be, peacefully at her home on April 1, 2007. Marion was born in Ameliasburgh Township on July 12, 1918. Marion was 88 years young. she was predeceased by her parents Evertt and Carrie (Parliament) Adams. Marion's husband of over 60 years, Allan, left her in 1999 as did her most cherished Grandson, Bob (Robert) in 1996. She now joins both. She was predeceased by her sister Evelyn (Moreland) and brothers Eldon, Gordon, and Laird. Marion is also survived by sister-in-law, Hilda Adams (Alyea). Marion is greatly missed by her sons Fred and Jim and her special daughter-in- law, Pat. Marion leaves behind two granddaughters who were so special and dear to her, Katherine Alyea, Laura Mounsteven and Laura's husband, Shaun. Marion worked and lived on the family farm from her marriage in 1938. She always saw the bright side of every situation and was always giving, helpful and thinking of others even to the end. Marion enjoyed life and those she cherished. She always believed that life goes on and that you make the best of everything that life puts to you. Her home and her family was her life and joy. Marion was a long time member of the St. John's Anglican Church in Carrying Place as well as the Anglican Church Women. There were not many days that she did not stop to visit and work at the Church. She was most disappointed when the Church closed and her home became her Church. Marion is survived by many friends and relatives. She had a very special relationship growing up with her niece Jean Chase (Moreland). They were like sisters. this special relationship continued into adult life at Church and with daily phone calls to each other or if Jean was not available to her husband Harry right to the end of Marion's life. At Marion's request, there was no service and cremation has occurred. On November 3, 2007 Marion was placed with Allan and a private interment service was conducted most appropriately by the Rev. WRZESINSKI, Jadwiga. Passed away on December 2, 2007 at the age of eighty-three. Survived by her children Richard and Lillian (Michel Leonard) and her cherished granddaughters Chloe and Stephanie. Special thanks to her caregivers at the Canadian Polish Institute. A private funeral was held on December 11, 2007 at the Notre-Dame-des-Neiges Cemetery. DEWITT, STEPHEN At the Saint John Regional Hospital, December 7th, 2007, Stephen Stillman Dewitt of Farm Road, McAdam, N.B., son of the late Norman Earl and Almeda (Gallison) Dewitt passed away. He is survived by his wife, Madeline (Melvin) Dewitt; one daughter Darlene Fraser (Phillip) of St. Stephen, N.B; two sons, Stephen Dewitt and Norman (Kathy) of McAdam, N.B; five grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, three sisters and several nieces and nephews. WHITE, PERRY V - The death of Perry Vincent White of St. Stephen and formerly of Sussex occurred by accident on December 10, 2007. Perry is a son of Vincent White of Fredericton and Beatrice (Foley) White of Sussex. He is also survived by his sons, Brendan, Travis and Dakota of Mount Middleton, NB, brothers, Robert "Bob" of Newfoundland and Kirby, nephews Timothy, Matthew, Michael and Charles and niece Kaylynn. The family will receive visitors at the Sussex Select Community Funeral Home, 21 Aiton Road Sussex (506-433-2133) on Thursday 7 to 9PM and Friday 2 to 4 and 6 to 9PM. M. Vivian (Viv) White, 88 of Moncton passed away peacefully at her residence on Tuesday, December 11th, 2007. Born in Winnipeg, she was the daughter of the late Evert L. and C. Cosette (Monroe) White. Viv was a graduate of the University of Manitoba, University of Minnesota and University of Leeds (England). She was a professor, having taught at Cornell University, New York, 1947 to 1986. Following her retirement, she moved to Moncton. Viv was an avid photographer, gardener and naturalist and was active in many local organizations. She enjoyed spending time over a glass of wine with family and friends at her cottage in Pointe du Chene. She will be sadly missed. Viv leaves behind her niece, Frances White, Winnipeg, MB; nephews, John White, Moncton, Greg White, Halifax and Andrew White, Quispamsis. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brother Dr. O.J. "Jack" White (2005). No visitation by personal request. LEFORT, ELLA E. (TAYLOR) The passing of Ella Evelyn LeFort of Fredericton occurred at Pine Grove Nursing Home, Fredericton, on Tuesday, December 11, 2007. Born in Moncton, NB, she was the daughter of the late Everett (Sr.) and Ella (West) Taylor. Ella was a member of the Christian Reform Church and loved the outdoors enjoying her camping and fishing trips on the Miramichi. Surviving are three daughters, Joyce Burtt (Ralph) of Fredericton, Marion Fudge of Calgary and Florence Currie (Paul) of Nashwaak Bridge, NB; one sister, Edna Knowlton of Vancouver; three granddaughters, Carol Lynch (Budd), Rev. Dr. Cindi Chenard (Jacques) and Jill Taylor (Chris); two grandsons, Robert "Bob" Burtt (Suzanne) and Mark Currie (Shelley); five great grandchildren, Andrew, Laura, Catherine, Isaac and Emma; several nieces and nephews. Ella is predeceased by her parents; husband Thomas Charles LeFort; a daughter Ella May; and four brothers, Roy, Everett, Edgar and Sterling Taylor. Visitation will be held at Bishop's Funeral Home, 540 Woodstock Road, Fredericton, on Friday, December 14, 2007 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. KENYON, JONATHAN It is with heartfelt sorrow that the family announces the death of Jonathan Thane Kenyon, age 34, at his home in Halifax, N.S. on Dec. 9, 2007. Formerly of Fredericton, Jonathan was the husband of Michelle McTimoney. Jonathan is survived by his wife, Michelle; his parents, Elaine and Robert of Fredericton, N.B.; brother, Christopher (Jennifer) of Calgary, N.B.; uncle, Wayne Tomilson (Paula) of Fredericton; aunt, Sandra Witmond (Clive) of Kent, England; cousins, Scott Tomilson of Sydney, Australia and Peter Tomilson of Rothesay, N.B.; Sarah, Tony, and Michael Witmond, of Kent, England. Jonathan; a graduate of UNB Mechanical Engineering and UNB Law, was currently employed with the Nova Scotia Department of Justice. Active in sports as a player and coach, he particularly loved basketball, and had become an enthusiastic kayaker and long distance runner. Jon loved music and enriched his life with piano, guitar, and clarinet. He will be sadly missed and joyfully remembered by family, friends, and colleagues. GALLAGHER,MARGARET MURIEL With deepest sympathy the family announces the peaceful passing of Margaret Muriel Gallagher, of Minto, NB, at the Oromocto Public Hospital on the morning of December 11th, 2007 at the age of 85. Margaret was born February 23rd, 1922 at Northampton, NB, being the eldest child of John and Stella (Colwell) McIntosh. The devoted Mother of Robert (Patsy Phillips), Sheila Thorne (Elderic), Shirley Taddeo (Joseph), Sharon Scott ( Berkeley), Ronald (Susan), David (Patricia), Margaret (Penny) Grimshaw (David), Michael (Carmen) and Daniel (Lisa). She was a proud grandmother of Toby Pond, Jack Gallagher, Galen Gallagher, Tara MacKenzie, Shawn Scott, Andrew Scott, Tara Glencross, Lyndsay Gallagher, Joanna Gallagher, Caitlin Gallagher, Matthew Grimshaw and Emma Grimshaw and great grandmother of Alisha Pond, Margaret MacKenzie and Rachel MacKenzie. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her husband, Ronald; sisters, Evelyn Barrow and Jean Welch and brothers, Leigh, Arthur, and Robert. She was a member of the Trinity United Church, Minto; life member of UCW; Past Matron of Remembrance Chapter # 30, Order of the Eastern Star, Past Queen of Nereides # 78 Daughters of the Nile. She enjoyed many years of square-dancing with the Oromocto Pioneers and Elm-Tree Square Dance Clubs. Friends will be received by the family on Thursday, December 13th from 2:00 to 4:00 pm and from 7:00 to 9:00 pm at the Minto Funeral Home (327-3490).
