TKATCH, Celia (nee Frost). Peacefully on Sunday, December 2, 2007 in Toronto. Beloved mother and mother-in-law of Joyce and Arthur Eklove and Myrna Liengme, loving grandmother of Harley and Susan Eklove, Mark and Lianne Eklove, Robert Eklove and RonniLynn Pustil, Jennifer and Orie Niedviecki, Alexander and Estelle Liengme and Jonathan Liengme and Tattijana Chardonnes. Bubby of 16 great-grandchildren, cherished sister and sister-in-law of Jack and Sandra Frost, adored by her nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her devoted husband Harry Tkatch, and brother Louis and sister Binnie Kepman. Funeral will take place Tuesday, December 4 in Toronto, Shiva in Montreal to commence December 5 at the home of Jack Frost. Donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Society. Jaquie Howe 1934-2007 Jacquie, 73, died peacefully surrounded by her family on November 30th, 2007 at The Moncton City Hospital. Born in Newcastle, NB she was the daughter of the late Delbert White (Irene) & Rhoda Steeves (Austin). Jacquie enjoyed many years as a member of the Moncton Gems and the Moncton Hubsters Bowling Teams as well as teaching bowling. She was also a past Worthy Matron of Fidelity Chapter # 36. For the past several years Jacquie has spent her time creating beautiful stained glass pieces, many of which have made their way all over the world. She will be greatly missed by her loving husband of 52 years, Victor; and her daughter, Vicki (Jules) Richard; and her grand daughters, Krista (Dave) Reage of Halifax and Lori Richard of Moncton. As per Jacquies wishes there will be no visitation and a private family service will be held at a later date. Interment in Fairhaven Memorial Gardens Cemetery. CARHART, MURRAY - Murray Carhart of Roachville passed away on December 2, 2007 at the age of 77. He was the husband of the late Viola (Travis) Carhart who passed away in 2002. Murray is survived by three daughters, Georgia Smallwood (Harold) of Moncton, Wendy McLong (David) of New Line and Beth Carhart of Ottawa; two sons, Deryl Carhart (Heather) of Smith Creek, David Carhart (Dorothy) of Searsville; seven grandchildren; two great grandchildren; three sisters, Gladys Donovan and Ida McKnight both of Sussex and Ruth Rouse (Harold) of Carsonville; three brothers, Bill of Sussex, Leonard and Buck (Barb) of Carsonville; as well as his special friend, Mabel Wortman; and several nieces and nephews. Murray was predeceased by two sisters, Joyce Doyle and Elizabeth Douthwright; and three brothers, Thomas, Charles and Roy Carhart. Née à Shédiac le 28 août 1940, elle était fille de feu Émile Doiron et de feu Exelda LeBlanc. PAYNE, Mr. Alfred - Peacefully surrounded by his loving family at Rapelje Lodge on Saturday, December 1, 2007, Alfred Payne formerly of Fonthill in his 88th year. Born May 30, 1920 in Beaverdams (Thorold) Ont., he moved to Fonthill upon his marriage to Rena Fletcher (June 21, 1941). Alfred serverd his country during WW II in the Queen's Own Rifles. He worked at the Beaverwood Fibre Co. in Thorold for 45 years, retiring in 1984. Dad had a passion for his church, family, gardening, music and making new friends. Our father chose a simple life and has passed his industrious work ethic to each of us. Although in declining health over the past few years Dad bore it all with dignity and was well respected and cared for by all who helped him through his final days. Cherished husband of Rena (Fletcher) and loved by his daughters Mary (Charles) Morgan, Joanne (Fred) Ferbrache, Eleanor (Gerry) Cook, Janice Wood and Wendy (Robert) Young and son Mark (Donna) Payne. Also survived by 16 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren , sisters Irene (Warren) Sorenson, Evelyn Cartmell and Hilda Payne. PEGOLO, Francesco - Peacefully at The Stabler Centre of Hospice Niagara on Sunday, December 2nd, 2007 at the age of 87. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Giannina (Chiarotto) of Thorold. Dear father of the late Sandra Smith (February 3, 2005) and her husband Paul of Vancouver, BC., Anna Lisa Lincoln and her husband Scott of Strongsville, OH; Nonno will be sadly missed by his grandchildren Lauren, Sarah, Katherine and Sean; brother of Battista of Toronto, Catarina, Giacinto, Maria, Luigi, Antonietta, all of Italy. Predeceased by brothers Tomaso and Giuseppe also of Italy. Also survived by many nieces and nephews in Toronto and in Italy. Francesco served in the Italian Army for 6 years during WWII including 2 years as a prisoner of war in Germany. He received la Croce al Merito di Guerra for his military service. He immigrated to Canada in 1952 and settled in Niagara in 1953. Francesco worked as a plasterer in Niagara for many years and enjoyed spending time gardening, reading books or spending time with friends and family. Francesco was a member of Holy Rosary Church, Thorold. A member of the Fogolar Furlan Club and the Associazione Nationale Combatenti e Reduci of the Niagara Peninsula. The family will receive friends at the HAMMOND FUNERAL HOME AND CHAPEL, 26 Ormond Street South, Thorold on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9pm. HLYWKA, Alexander Sr. - The family of Alex Hlywka announces his peaceful passing at the Welland Hospital on Saturday, December 1, 2007 at the age of 83. Beloved husband of Veronica (nee Sadlak) for over 63 years. Dear father of Dorothy Clarkson (Henry), Shirley Brown (Doug), Alex Hlywka Jr. (Jayne), and Cathy DiPlacido (Corrado). RADVANSZKI, Joseph - It is with great sadness that the family of Joseph Radvanszki Sr. announce his passing on Dec. 2, 2007 at the Port Colborne hospital. Mr. Radvanszki is survived by his wife, Wilma (Ujfalussy); his granddaughter, Andrea Radvanszki; great granddaughter, Chanel (don't know her last name). He is also survived by stepson Joseph Ujfalussy (Anita) and daughter-in-law Nicole Ujfalussy and five step grandchildren, Diane Barton (Tony), Michael Ujfalussy; Stephen Ujfalussy (Joanna); Rick Ujfalussy (Laurie); Jim Ujfalussy and step great granddaughter Taylor Ujfalussy. He is predeceased by his son, Joseph Radvanszki Jr.; sister Elizabeth Eglert and stepson John Ujfalussy. Mr. Radvanszki was born in Romania and came to Canada. He was a well-learned, well- educated man who spoke many languages. His soft-spoken nature and gentle good humour endeared him to all who knew him. McLERNON, L. Peter. Peter died peacefully in Toronto on November 29, 2007 at St. Michael's Hospital. Beloved husband of Diane (nee Madill) and father to Robin, Kenny, and Jamie. Remembered by his sisters Diana Ridley (Michael), Derry Carr (Steve), brother Richard, father-in-law J. Arthur Madill, sister-in-law Jennifer Madill, brother-in-law Kenny Madill (Rochelle), nieces, nephews and his extended McLernon family. Born and raised in Montreal, Peter moved to Toronto in the 1970's. His entire career was centred in the investment business, retiring early from CIBC World Markets in the spring of 2006. Peter's passions included fishing, hunting, golf, and summers in North Hatley, Quebec. His family extends their sincere gratitude to the professionals at St. Michael's Hospital in Emergency, Step-Up (14th Floor) and ICU. Their outstanding care and support was deeply appreciated. Peter, independent by nature, embodied life to the fullest and we will miss him. Kevin was a carpenter by trade and worked for Regency Construction as well as various companies throughout North America. He was a member of the carpenter's union local # 1386 for 17 years. SOLSKI, Larry John - of Cedar Springs passed away Friday November 30, 2007 at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, Chatham Campus. Larry was born in Detroit Michigan 55 years ago to the late Stella (Skowronski) and John Solski. Larry is survived by his loving wife of 30 years Cindy (Campbell) and their two sons Aaron Solski and Eric Solski. Larry is also survived by his two sisters Lee Ann Godfrey of Collingwood and Diane Solski and Rick Wylie of British Columbia. Larry never looked at his “in-laws“ as “out-laws“. Very early on, he came to know the great love and affection that the “Campbell Crew“ felt for him. In many ways, his mother-in-law, Joyce Campbell, became like a second mother to him. Larry also managed to pick- up some additional siblings along the way including April and David Trudgen of Morpeth, Randy and Carrie Campbell of Blenheim and Mark and Sharon Campbell of Blenheim. Several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews also survive. Larry is predeceased by his brother Gary Solski (1984) and his father-in-law Don Campbell, August 24, 2007. Many members in the community will remember having Larry's “handy hands“ repair their lawn mower, weed trimmer or marine motor. For years owned and operated Southwest Small Engine and Marine in Cedar Springs. GOODWIN, REECE EDMUND TANNER Reece Edmund Tanner Goodwinpassed away at his mother's home in Halifax, surrounded by his family, on November 30, 2007, as a result of colorectal cancer. Born in Fredericton on December 4, 1950. Reece was the son of Lois Goodwin Pepper and the late Robert Edmund Goodwin. Reece was a graduate of Fredericton High School 1968; UNB - B.A.1972 and University of Miami, MBA-1977. Reece was a member of Christ Church Cathedral in Fredericton and had been a member of the boy's choir and also a Sidesman. In his youth, Reece was a Boy Scout, and played the bagpipes in St. Andrew's Pipe Band for many years. He was a member of the Fredericton Golf Club and enjoyed many days skiing at Crabbe Mountain. Reece played various varsity sports throughout highschool and university, particularly rugby. Reece was also an avid duck hunter, where he developed his love of Golden Retrievers, particularly Bachelor, Tanner, and Beauregard. He was a lover of all sports, but his passion was for golf, football, and hockey. Throughout his career, Reece worked for various financial institutions in the Maritimes and Toronto. Eventually, in September 2000 Reece moved to Shanghai, China where he taught Business and English, at various Business Training Centers. He also taught one of the passions in his life-golf. Reece thoroughly enjoyed his life in Shanghai and made the most of living in a new culture. Reece returned home in June as a result of his diagnosis and remained positive throughout these last 6 months. He truly believed that there was a time for everything in life. Besides his mother, Reece is survived by his wife, Grace (Chuanhai) Wang (Shanghai, China); his daughter, Holly Gene Goodwin (Fredericton); and her mother, Kim Johnson (Fredericton); sister, Nora-gene Goodwin (Randy Ball) Bedford; aunt and uncles, Irene and Robert Russell (Thorburn, NS), Henry MacWilliam (Charlottetown PEI); and numerous cousins. Besides his father, Reece was predeceased by his grandparents, Melbourne and Alice Goodwin (Sackville NB), Keith and Mildred Tanner (Thorburn NS); stepfather, Ralph A. Pepper (Halifax); numerous aunts and uncles; and his cousin, Dana. Cremation has taken place. The family will receive visitors on Monday at JA Snow's Funeral Home, Windsor Street, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00p.m. and from 7:00p.m. to 9:00p.m. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, December 4 at 11:00a.m. at St. Paul's Church, 1749 Argyle Street, Halifax, the Rev. Il était maître chant pendant plus de quarante ans à Grande-Digue, membre fondateur de la Caisse Populaire de Grande-Digue et en a été le président pendant plusieurs années. Il était le dernier membre fondateur. Il représentait la paroisse de Dundas au niveau du conté de Kent pendant plusieurs années. GIFFEN, Gwyneth - Passed away peacefully with her family by her side at Royal Victoria Hospital, Barrie on Thursday November 29th, 2007. Gwyneth Giffen, loving wife of Gordon Giffen. Devoted mother of Greg and his wife Yvonne and Ron and his wife Lorrie. Beloved grandmother of Jason (Melanie), Jayde (Jeremy) Isaac, Megan and Molly Giffen. Gwyneth is also survived by her sister Rhianon (the late Dr. Arthur) Dolby. Gwyneth will be fondly remembered by her dear niece Kathy (Jim) Adams and her many special nieces and nephews. She will also be missed by her extraordinary “in-laws“ and her wonderful circle of friends. A memorial service will be held at ADAMS FUNERAL HOME 445 St. Vincent Street (just north of Cundles Road) on Tuesday December 4th, 2007 at 11:00 o'clock AM. GUSHUE, (Thomas) Lorne - Passed away peacefully at the Royal Victoria Hospital, Barrie on Saturday December 1, 2007. Beloved husband for 49 years of Evelyn (nee Janes). Loving father of William Gushue (Sheila) of Corbeil, Lorna Gushue (Daryl Watson) of Severn Township and Glenys Gushue (Tim Clarke) of Barrie. Loved by 10 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Sadly missed by his sister Muriel Roberts (Jack) of Newfoundland and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by 3 brothers John, Stanley and Eric. DANIELS, Howard (Howie) Charles - Peacefully with his loving family at his side, died November 30th, 2007, at age 55 after a short illness. Born on January 24th, 1952 in St. Catharines, Howie grew up and lived all of his working life in the Niagara Region. A loving man, devoted father and friend, he will be missed by all. Surviving are his loving life-partner Barb Stewart of Niagara Falls; his sons Howard (HB) Daniels and wife, Disha of Bermuda; Travis Daniels and wife, Debbie and 'Grandchild to be' of Winona; brother, Jeff Daniels and wife, Colleen of Fonthill; step-children Darren and Trevor Abell and family. Howie will also be missed by many cousins, nieces, nephews and extended family. Predeceased by his parents Howard Wilfred Daniels and Verna Marie Daniels (nee Brown). Friends will be received at BUTLER FUNERAL HOME (33 Duke St., St. Catharines 905-684-2334) on Tuesday, December 4th, 2007 from 6:00 pm until the time of service at 8:00 pm in the funeral home chapel.
