SIEGRIST, Anni (nee Troger). Peacefully, in her sleep at Chateau Westmount, on Tuesday, November 14, two days before her ninety-second birthday. She joins her husband, the late Kurt Siegrist, and son-in-law, Brian, and leaves to mourn those who loved her, most especially her daughters, Vreni, Heidi, Rosy (Steve), grandchildren, Michelle, Sean, Jesse, Stefan, Ania, her sister, Gretl, her nephew, Urs and niece, Marianne, and many dear friends who were part of her wonderfully fulfilling life lived in Switzerland, and more recently in Canada. As per our Mom's wishes, there will be no funeral. A celebration of her life among family and friends will be held at her daughter's home at 10 Somerville, Westmount, on Sunday, December 2, after 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family would be most appreciative of a donation to the Foundation of the Institut Universitaire de Geriatrie de Montreal. Paul was born in Mont Laurier, P.Q. and had been a resident of Timmins for over 50 years. He was a retired miner having spent most of his years with the McIntyre Mine. MURDOCH, Gilbert Logan - Retired District Court Judge in the City of Peterborough passed peacefully on November 15th, 2007 in his 92nd year at the Peterborough Regional Health Centre. He is survived by Mary, his devoted wife of 57 years. Also survived by loving sister, Sarah Murdoch of Toronto and his beloved children John Murdoch and wife Kim, Paul and wife Sharon, Peter and former wife Brenda, Anne Mazerolle and husband Michael and Jane Crocker and husband Cy, along with his eight grandchildren. Born in Glasgow Scotland, Gilbert immigrated to Canada with his family at the age of two in 1918, settling in Ottawa. He graduated from Glebe Collegiate, served in the RCAF as a navigator in WWII, graduated from Queens University and the Osgood Hall law school. Gilbert started his family with Mary in Oshawa and began his career as a young lawyer in 1951 with Creighton, Frazer and Drynan, later becoming a partner in the firm. He was appointed as Queen's Counsel in 1967 and subsequently appointed to bench in 1976. He served his community in many ways as Chairman of the Board of Managers at Knox Presbyterian Church in Oshawa, as President of 420 Wing of the RCAF Association, as alderman on the Oshawa City Council, as President of the Oshawa Rotary Club, and as a Board Member of the Peterborough Police Commission and the Peterbourgh Humane Society. Following his retirement from the District Court at age 75, Gilbert began three new jobs as an unemployment insurance adjudicator for the Federal Court, a judge in Small Claims Court as well as conducting pre-trials for the District Court. The man who so much enjoyed his work and contributing to the well-being of others, will be lovingly missed and remembered by his family and many friends. A memorial service will be held at Westdale United Church, 1509 Sherbrooke St. W., Peterborough on Wednesday, November 21st, 2007 at 11:00 a.m., Reverend Brad Weeks officiating. FREEMAN, Rex Morton. Just before sunrise on October 29, 2007, in Burnaby, B.C., calmly and with dignity. Rex was born in Halifax, N.S., November 16, 1920, son of Barberie Ogle and Robert P. Freeman. Attended Montreal High School, graduated from McGill with a B.Eng. (Mech). Served in the R.C.E.M.E. at Kingston in WWII. For 30 years, worked as an engineer at Northern Electric. Raised his first family in Pointe Claire and Hudson. Subsequently moved his second family to Burnaby, B.C. Helped build Kinsmen Park Pool in Pte Claire; coached junior baseball and volunteered in many community activities in Burnaby. He leaves behind three children, Carolyn Freeman (Dennis Keating) and Jody Freeman, daughters of Betty Hunter Freeman, and Rob Freeman, son of Sharon Goodman Freeman; his grandson Michael Keating; his sister, Mrs. Cecily Preuthun (Franklyn) and children, Vincent Preuthun, Maren Johnson (Richard), and Garth Preuthun; grandnieces Erin and Heather Johnson; grandnephew Christian Preuthun; and many cousins. His absence is deeply felt by family and friends. His ashes will be buried alongside his mother, father and grandparents in Fairview Cemetery, Halifax, N.S. after a memorial service on November 22. LAPIERRE, Betty Lucy - Peacefully in her sleep at Versa Care Long Term Care, Brantford, on Tuesday, November 13, 2007, Betty passed away in her 82nd year. Betty was predeceased by her parents, John Cecil and Bessie Davis and by her dear son Wilfred Michael Lapierre (May 1, 2007). Betty is survived by her loving daughter-in- law Norine Lapierre and by her grandsons John Paul and John David Lapierre, and by her son David Lawrence Lapierre. She will be fondly remembered by her friends, the “Westinghouse girls“ and her friend Carol Rendle-Robb. Betty loved to do crafts of all kinds, was an avid reader and an amazing storyteller. She will be missed by all who knew her. Cremation has taken place. According to Betty's wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral. ANDREWS, RODERICK STANLEY “ROD” - In his 57th year, died suddenly on November 15th, 2007. Predeceased by loving Wife Mary in 2006. Survived by sons Barry Roderick Andrews and Russell Stanley Andrews, parents Stanley and Lorraine Andrews, brother of Judy Andersen (Neil), Peggy Marshall (Bill), Tim (Sandra) and Bob.
